Not sure what has happened to this place!! We checked in after dark, went to dinner, came back - husband went to hot tub (has metastatic melanoma and needs the hot water to help with pain: I got things ready in the camper and joined him, some Troll of an employee was aggressive and scary, it was 10 or 10:30?? Troll was saying it was time to close - I asked him to give me a minute to get my husband out and he began to threaten to call 911 and many other insults... was scary, shocking, and so NOT like what we have experienced before?! I got my husband out of hot tub and we were exiting and this guy kept on being threatening and scary..... We will not come here Ever again, we did nothing wrong and are an older couple just looking for a nice break! Please consider other places if older and needing a safe environment. read more

What a nice little spot to relax for a couple of days. Short walk to the beach, pool and jacuzzi with a few gazebos along with an indoor clubhouse and kitchen area. The staff was friendly and accommodating. read more

We stay here every year and the stay is always perfect. Not quite sure how someone could give it a poor rating. Of note - yes, there are some spots that are not "behind the gate". But you should know this when booking if that's what you are reserving (the key is too book in advance). And to the person who said it was 2 miles away from attractions, guess it depends on the attraction, but seems like they just failed to do their research. The fact that you can walk over to the beach without crossing a road is pretty superb. This place is always 5 stars in my mind. Looking forward to another great time this year! read more

Updated-I called to book a stay and was told I was on a "suspension" list. It expires 4/2/2021 There was an incident last time we were there (three years ago) where the neighbors Doberman charged me. And their multiple drones almost hit mine and other's extremely expensive RV's. They were asked to leave, and they did. Not sure went wrong for on there, but clearly have the wrong people and information. After multiple emails with the owners they STILL cannot tell me the issue. I have exhausted al efforts to rectify the situation. Additionally they are so for behind in technology that you cannot even book online. Old, out of touch irrational owners.side not- their employees are the beat. read more

Staying here at Sandpiper RV Resort in Galveston, TX and I went to the front office about the shredded American flag flying from the flagpole. The response I received was it is to expensive to replace. They also informed me they let it get considerably more shredded before replacement. As a 30 year Naval Officer all I got was a salute from the person working the desk. Totally UNSAT and disrespectful to America and Veterans who fought to protect this country. If to expensive, I will gladly buy one for you. I am staying in site 19 until tomorrow so do not hesitate to stop down and see me. read more

This was the second time we have stayed at Sandpiper RV Resort. Both times were a great experience. We have now stayed in a back in site and a pull through site this last stay. The park is always nice and clean with friendly staff. All amenities worked as they should. Wi Fi was always strong and worked well. The access to the beach is right behind the park. Sandpiper is a kid and dog friendly RV Resort. They offer a discount for Good Sam members as well. read more

Sandpiper is a great place if you're looking for an affordable place to park your RV and enjoy Galveston! My family and I enjoyed being so close to the beach as well as all that Galveston has to offer. The amenities are very nice, and the staff were very helpful and professional. The reason for the 2 star review is straightforward: For an average of $75 a night, we basically camped in a parking lot on the side of a 4 lane highway. Sites 32-40 are not exactly "picturesque", as my pictures show. We were very disappointed by the location. Another downside for these spots in particular is that they are very close together. The strip of grass separating each campsite is maybe 1-2 feet at the most. To get to the beach, a little hike is required - maybe a 1/4 mile. If you're taking umbrellas, chairs, floats, etc, you'll want to drive your car or truck and pay the $8 to park on the public beach. On the plus side is that the amenities were very nice; the bathrooms are clean, you have full hookups with cable, and WiFi (although service was somewhat spotty). The inside also has a nice kitchenette if you want to cook a larger meal. [Edited to add] My wife wanted me to point out that when she made the reservation she was told that we would be "on the seawall". Well, as you can see from the pictures it's not a seawall like you imagine along the rest of Seawall Blvd where the ocean is just beyond the "wall". Yes, it was elevated and higher up than the other campsites, but that doesn't buy you anything since the ocean is still 1/4 mile away. You can see the ocean, but only if you stand on a picnic table. The only thing you're closer to is the highway. While the rest of the park is enclosed by a fence, sites 32-40 are wide-open and accessible by anyone walking or driving by. That had us worried about theft too. read more

Really nice RV Park. Spots are cement pad and wide. Cozy without a lot of traffic. There is a helicopter tour place next door but we didn't find it an issue. Despite the dire warnings there was dog poop everywhere. That was my biggest issue. read more

So I made a Reservation the 9/1. My wife gets put on call at our local hospital. I call back today the 5 th to cancel and get told it's a 50 dollar cancellation charge??? I asked why?? She said it wasn't 7 days notice. I told her we only made the reservation 4 days ago!!! She said she was sorry but they were still going to charge the $50.00 cancellation fee! It their policy. I am shocked they would willingly lose a customer in that manner. read more

This place is a little gem on the beach. In fact you're so close to the beach that at night you can hear the pleasant sound of the waves in the distance through an open window. The staff is reasonably courteous but we've heard stories of them not being all that interested in resolving issues. There's a lackadaisicalness that makes me believe this may be true. Despite that the entire resort is smooth and level concrete with grass patches between the spots. Spots are long and wide. The pool and hot tub are spectacular and maintained meticulously. I should note that Phil is a standout. His attentiveness and interest in service is second to none. Al's pretty groovy too! There is a motel onsite reserved for visitors to guests of the RV resort. In the main building are the showers, laundry, and a common recreation area and kitchen all of which are open and available to guests. Shopping and restaurants are within walking distance with Galveston attractions within about a 5-10 minute drive. We've decided to spend 2 months a year here and look forward to our next visit! We camped at Sandpiper RV Resort in a Motorhome. Mario's Italian restaurant is within walking distance and is incredible. Their lunch buffet for $9.99 can't be beat. A very nice rv park. I called and made a reservation. The woman on the phone was very friendly and knowledgeable about the business. I really enjoyed the wide concrete pad. Full hookup. Well manicured lawn. The property was very well kept and clean. It was more or less very quiet there with the occasional loud exhaust vehicles on the road nearby. The close proximity to the beach was great. There are plenty of amenities nearby. The pool looked awesome but unfortunately was a little too cold for me. It is the Middle of winter. The only minor negatives I could see and as you can tell by my rating are not really a big deal. are as follows in no type of order. The early office close time makes it difficult to drive as long as you can and just stop when you are ready. You also have to time everything out right so you can make it there in time. Unfortunately we had to forgo some sightseeing to make it there before the office closed. Unfortunately traffic was heavy and lots of construction on the route didn't help. But we made it in time. The price was a little on the high side for the time of year and the supply and demand(I attribute this to the location and surrounding campsite prices). The park was only minimally occupied by very respectable people with the exception of cleaning up after their dogs. And that thankfully wasn't as bad as others have noted. The occasional loud exhaust(maybe 1 or 2 per hour, not too bad but maybe the time of year. Like I said. All in all a great place with fair pricing and a friendly staff. We are planning on trying to get back down here in the near future and staying for a week. read more

We love it here. We stayed on this spot at the former Sandpiper Hotel on our honeymoon in 1975, so we're excited to see it as an RV park now. It's a beautiful park, very friendly staff, beautiful view of the ocean within a short walking distance. Close to restaurants, bars, shopping, Pleasure Pier. Great location. . We paid $65 for "premium" spot closest to beach. Gate adds to security. Laundry was only $1.25 for wash or dry. Pool and hot tub were beautiful. Nice concrete pads with grass and palm trees between them. Great park. read more

Nice place until you read the "Laws" rules for staying there. Enjoy your stay, but don't have any fun! Also, They need to do something about the coyotes chasing people back into their RV's at night. I have been here for 1 week and this happened twice to me and once to my neighbor. They roam the beach and walk right into the RV Park looking for small dogs to eat. read more

Horrible customer service. I tried to get information on a stay back in April and Larry was helpful the day I called to request it but said he couldn't get proof of the check in slips for me the same day. He stated I need to wait over the weekend until Monday. I called him friday. Monday comes around and nothing. I call Wednesday since that's my dead line for what I needed and of course Larry isn't in to send them. I speak to the manager AL asking him if he could sent me this information and he said if you spoke with Larry then you can call back on friday. I explained this is somthing that can't wait until Friday and he hangs up in my face. I immediately call back and get jasmine. Asking her if anyone else can help with this and she's says no. I'm baffled that no one could help me and that the manager AL that just hung up on me could no longer take my call at the moment. You would think the manager of the establishment would be able to pull up anything going on with the business. Somthing as simple as a signed receipt. read more

I booked our reservations for spring break in January. Paying $60.00 per night. When we arrived the spot they gave us had a beautiful view. NOT!!!!!!. There were several spots open and the one we got faced the back side of their building which is in need of repair. The only green we saw was two tomatoe plants and a wire fence. Upon arrival and we saw the space we went up to the office to ask for another spot. NOPE non available. I had my four grandsons, daughter in law and husband with me. We left one day early. I can tell you the other spots had palm trees and a open view with green grass around the cement. VERY disappointed and upset. As there are plenty of other RV spots we will never stay at Sandpiper again. read more

Nice wide & long concrete pads, concrete interior roads, nice size strips of grass between sites, easily accessible hookups, back-ins and pull-throughs, any size rig. Not pool weather when we were here, but looks nice - very clean. Common areas are clean but up a steep flight of stairs, or go around to street side to use ramp. Laundry room is small & my whites came out sandy colored. Great location - steps to Stewart Beach & right where 2 main roads Broadway & Seawall meet, so short drive to shopping. Our 30 amp went out so we used our 50-to-30 converter & power was much better. No shade trees, so we got great satellite; Verizon worked fine. They have cable TV but we didn't use it; I don't even know whether they have Wi-Fi - we used our own. We paid about $40/night, but learned that their Mardi Gras and summer rates get up around $60/night. read more

We made reservations for Fri and Sat n ight, 8-17 and 8-18. Checked in at 1pm Fri afternoon. We received a call from my daughter around 6pm telling us my mother in law had passed away. Loaded the camper and told management our situation and left for Houston. Called back today and was told they were going to charge me for Fri night because I was already in the system. Very poor business policy. Doubt we will come back. read more

We have been staying at SPRVP since it opened 4 years ago, and, until this year, have always been happy with our stay. It is convenient, close to the beach and great for walking on the Seawall. This year it was not for many reasons: 1) Inconsiderate staff - don't care attitude and poor excuses for every problem (see what follows). 2) We made our reservations for December in September and requested a site on the northeast side of the park. When we arrived we were placed in a site with a view of the building, a concrete wall & the highway. We requested a change but were told "We can't. You're here for a month." We told the staff member we were campground owners and do everything we can to make our customers happy. The reply was "We never guarantee sites." We never requested a specific site, just a specific area and several of those sites were empty for the short time we were there. 3) The first night our CO2 detector went off. Thinking it was our problem, and after checking everything, we waited another day. The smell of gas only got stronger. We complained to the office and requested a site change. We were told to "deal with it or leave." Since this represented a health problem, we opted to leave and requested our money back, We had only been there 3 days! NOTE:This is a problem that could have been solved when the first person complained (we were not the first). Our daughter called the fire department, who came to check it out. They called the gas company and the problem was corrected within 2 hours. Why did the staff not call the gas company? They did not want to! Why did they not move us - same reason. We will not be back! read more
