I recently returned a rental at the Enterprise on Union Ave in Memphis and accidentally left my Stanley cup in the front cup holder. At first, I was told it hadn't been found, but I knew I had left it in the car. I was frustrated, but I decided to follow up--and I'm so glad I did. Alex from the team personally called me, said he would review the security footage, and within a day, they called back to let me know they had found it. The guys in this location were good - they tried to make a bad situation right. The Enterprise site allowed us to make a reservation to have a car delivered to our hotel and at the end of the rental term, to have it picked up from the hotel. They scheduled delivery for 10 am. One of the local guys showed up at 11:15 and informed us they don't deliver cars and that we needed to ride with him to the Enterprise office to get the car. He was in a jacked up truck that had no running boards, picking up 4 ladies aged 73-79. It was extremely embarrassing for a couple of the ladies, who had to be helped into the vehicle. Then, unfortunately, when the car arrived 20 minutes after we got to the Enterprise office, it had a screw in one of the tires. Thirty minutes later, we finally got a car. We felt lucky to get a car because another group was informed that they had no more cars (even though they had a reservation, too). The local guys made it right for us - but Enterprise claims they "exceed our customers' expectations for service, quality and value." Today, they failed miserably. read more

I've honestly never been to a more inefficient rental car place than the downtown Memphis Enterprise. Ironically, everyone is working seemingly hard; nonetheless, nothing seems to get done or taken care of in a reasonable amount of time. I'm sure there are many things that a customer may not understand about the flow of renting and returning a car, but I can't imagine that they thrive on their inability to get people in and out. Are you picking up a car at a previously scheduled time? Plan to wait at least 30 extra minutes. Wanting a car that is clean? You'll need to do it yourself after picking up your rental. Perhaps this place has gotten better recently. Jacob Hunter who he's the branch told me i was unable to use my discount due to me not having walmart badge on me . Mind you im getting ready to go to a funeral. I explained to him i used my Walmart employee discount promotion code to rent for my birthday week june 10-15 . Which was a mini van .which I reserved at covington pike . So i stepped in the corner and called customer trying to see if i need my Walmart badge to rent a vehicle. The Rep. stated all i need was my promotion code . So the branch manager was ignoring me and checked a woman while i was talking to him telling him the stated i didnt need a badge. So he told me the only way to rent was if i payed standard rate .i told him no, why would i pay standard rates if my job is offering me discounts on my rental cars . So he told me he called and talked yo covington pike and said the manager said that they ask for a badge which was indicating that you dont need a Walmart badge to rent . It was a problem picking up my rental car and dropping it off as well. When picking up, I was told it would be a 1 hour wait. After 1 hour they said they didn't have the correct car and I would have to pay more which is ridiculous. When dropping off they claimed I didn't have enough gas in the car, they told me to put 2 more gallons. When I went to put two more gallons into the car, it wouldn't even take 2 gallons. I did not pick the car up on full. It seems they just want to give customers a problem. I only returned to them because it was close to my home. Never again. read more

First: the young staff here is WONDERFUL. They work their tails off, trying to mollify a lot of people it seems. I should have yelped first, but the guy who worked the front desk at my hotel, less than three miles away, sang only praises. Oy. And that's a One-Up based on staff appreciation. Why, then two stars? Because there were NO CARS AVAILABLE. For *hours*. HOURS. I've never, in over two decades of travel, had a rental car company Not. Had. ANY. Cars. NONE. I'd called in the morning about an hour earlier than my pick-up time just to confirm And learned they didn't have any cars back in yet, but they'd pick me up as soon as one became available -- and they got cars to the three customers who were already waiting. I was stunned. Bless that young lady's heart because she could tell I was upset and trying not to take it out on her. But how can a rental car agency *downtown* not have any cars?? Their solution was for the customer, me, to call every so often to see what the situation is, and thus get an estimate as to when they'd be able to pick me up. They couldn't call or send notifications by text because there were so many people in a holding pattern Picture this: I'm now checked out of my hotel, my luggage beside me My pickup scheduled for 1130; I called every 30-45 minutes - they nearly memorized my number and knew which rental ticket to discuss. They picked me up three THREE hours later. Thankfully no one was relying on me to pick them up at the airport that day, but my other plans got pushed back significantly. Perhaps this is the best way to express my dissatisfaction because the staff didn't deserve my ire. Indeed, the courteous, personable, low-key, polite staff managed to defuse a very stressful situation but who, I'd like to know, manages a place and expects it to run so haphazardly put-together, kinda, sorta. Maybe. It's listed as a Rental CAR agency. Believe me in the 180 minutes unexpectedly available to me, I got to read through many of the reviews. And mine was on a particularly trying day for the agency; I get that. Apparently the entire fleet of Ford vans was recalled; and they had a request for 14 such vans that Enterprise scrambled to supply. I get it. But from the reviews of other Yelpers, mine is unfortunately not unique and that is troublesome. And that should be a concern for the franchise owner and frankly the company. Because two weeks later, I was back in Tennessee, Hendersonville, to be exact, and on reflex, went online and booked a car with Enterprise; I cancelled the next morning because I couldn't trust they'd be ready - and found other transportation I'm hopeful this experience hasn't put me off Enterprise altogether read more

Rent a car for a week recently. The prices offered here were the best around! The service was also excellent!!! All the guys who work here are amazing. The car was also well maintained and cleaned. This location could improve with check out times. When I came to rent it took an hour to get my car. Many people were in the same boat. It seemed as though they were simply under staffed because all the guys here were working their tails off!! They did give me a free upgrade for my wait... Which was very nice of them and appreciated. I plan on renting from here again, especially because they did try to make up for the wait. I just will make sure I'm not in a hurry! read more

Three strikes and you're out...sadly, the staff here is full of exceptionally friendly people who really seem like they want to do the right thing. Unfortunately, the location is apparently managed to fail. They are dependably undependable for pickups with waits of up to an hour in spite of reservations made days, if not weeks, in advance - even when assured they will be there "soon". Pick up drivers show up at the wrong locations and have been known to call for directions. They regularly serve up cars with empty, or near empty gas tanks. Importantly, even a five star reviewer had issues here. If you have another option, I'd strongly encourage you to exercise it. First the good - good location and we were happy with the car we rented. Now the bad. They sold - I mean we felt misled by what we were told - optional insurance which we did not want. We asked three times if it was mandatory and they used words like 'minimum' and 'needed if you do not have your own insurance'. Checking the contract at the end of the holiday it was clear it was optional insurance. We feel like they took advantage of us for $250 - adding 20% to the cost of the car. They did not have a great choice of cars - they only had 2 SUVs and they did not even offer us to look at them until we asked. The thing they did not mention when we picked up the car was that it was not good for all US states. We are from another country and these things are not all obvious. It would have been much better to focus on talking us through the contract and showing us the cars rather than selling us unnecessary insurance. I recently had to rent a car from here and it started out as a rough experience. However, I went to the downtown location and I was helped a little bit better with getting the car I needed and wanted. Reagan was the lady that helped me in getting the vehicle that I would drive for over a week. She helped me from the very start until I turned the car back in a week later. This place is all about customer service. They will work with you and want to work with you. Thanks again for being so good to me and helping me out! So, I had to use this agency while my car was being repaired. First, they sent me out in a truck, while I usually drive a compact car. They told me it drive just like a car-- not! Next, the truck had yellow paint all over the side. Once I got started driving, I noticed the tire balance light was on, so I called them. They told me to take it to a firestone, which I did. The tires were overinflated on the driver's side by 25 pounds!!! Firestone said the tire sensor was probably bad, but that enterprise would have to get that fixed. In their defense, they were nice about the gas when I returned the car, and the site was under construction. Still, I would not recommend this business at this time. read more

This staff of young professionals were awesome; thorough, specific, attentive and timely. When we dropped off the car on May 17th, Ray gave us a ride to get us to the Autozone baseball park. He gave us a few tips about the city and places to go. I am often worried about the next generation, this team of three (working mid-day on 5/17/17) restored my faith and hope. I Learned a Lesson We all screw up sometimes. When a company dealing with the public screws up they try to "make it right". A restaurant will probably screw up something every night. So they offer to comp you a drink or a desert or one dinner or the whole table. And you go away saying, "They screwed up, but they made it right." Plan a trip. You book your transportation. You book your hotels. You read restaurant reviews. If you are careful and do it right everything should work like clock-work right? Not always. When you book that rental car what are your priorities? The make and model of car? Convenience of pickup? The price? My opinion of the company? How many points you will rack up? I admit I have considered all of the above. However, I missed one. I never considered the odds of the company actually having a car available when promised. They promise me a car they will have a car for me. Sometimes I don't get the make or model promised, but I always get a car. I know many (or maybe all) airlines overbook. They sell more seats than they have available. They expect a certain number of passengers will not show up on time. We have all been on flights where they offer incentives for people willing to give up their seats. Sometimes hotels overbook. The big name guys offer lots of goodies if that happens to you. They will find you a room as good as or better than you booked, take you there, and comp you the whole stay. Not until now have I ever heard of car rental agencies over booking. The Enterprise Rental agency in downtown Memphis at 426 Union Avenue overbooked for April 10th. And they did nothing to make it right. They promised me a car for Friday, April 10, 2015 and did not deliver. They did nothing to make it right. I usually fly and get a rental car at an airport. This time I came up the river on a cruise ship and took a cab to a hotel. This was all planned ahead. I had booked a rental car with the Enterprise Car Rental agency in downtown Memphis. I checked into my hotel room and called for my car. I was told, "We don't have any cars right now." I asked when they would have a car and got a vague answer. I called back several times on Friday and had the same result. But I was "promised" a car for Saturday morning. On Saturday morning I called back and was put on hold. I was on a permanent hold. The hold music was most annoying because the voice-over was a speech saying how wonderful their company is. They are family owned and provide outstanding service to their customers. Over and over again I heard how wonderful they are. After a half hour or so I would hang up and call back. I would spend some time on hold and a human would come on the line and say, "I'll put you on hold."!!!! So, I called another company, got a car and went on with my day. Then, much later, I got a call from Enterprise saying, "Congratulations Mr. xxx, I've got a car for you." I said, "You can read my answer on the internet." read more

Very Unprofessional Staff. I waited four hours for a car rental. The staff I usually work with actually does not work at this location. (Mike) The first car that was given had a busted radiator, second car needed at oil change, then I had to be driven to another location they tried to pass on a dirty mini van. The district manager happened to be there he got me a newer model van that worked just fine. Also, I took a look at my bank statement they doubled the charge for me instead of charging just the deposit. Believe me I can't wait to talk with someone from corporate. Enterprise was suppose to pick me up from Caliber Collision at 10:30am. They never showed up, so Caliber Collision drove me over there. They didn't have my vehicle (or similar) ready. They said that a reservation doesn't actually reserve a vehicle; it just lets them know that I'd like to rent a car (there is thus no point in making a reservation, nor is such a "reservation" then). Around noon, I tell them they can just call me when the vehicle is ready and I'll come and get it. They get frustrated with me and say they're not going to rent to me at all. I say fine. They call me on my way home and say my vehicle is ready and they will, in fact, rent to me. I return and the vehicle is not my reserved vehicle class, nor is it an upgrade, and it turns out the fuel tank is lower than what they noted. But whatever; lesson learned. They couldn't have been more impolite, mismanaged, and difficult. read more

Sorry people! But my experience with this office was wonderful! When I arrived in Memphis, my car was ready and waiting. I was picked up at my downtown hotel within fifteen minutes of my call. The car was clean and ready. When I arrived at the office the paperwork took about 10 minutes and I was on my way Unfortunately, the power outlet in my VW did not work so my GPS would not work. I returned the VW and was immediately given a replacement car, a KIA which was fine. No problem with the exchange and I was on my way again. When I returned the car I was promptly whisked back to my hotel. While driving me back to the hotel, my driver even offered to return later, after their office had closed, to drive us to the train station! I thought that was really over and beyond expectations. I had already made arraignments for that trip with the hotel, but the offer was really nice! read more

This is the only enterprise rental that has ever stopped & called my auto insurance company to verify my plan had full coverage. I had my proof of insurance in hand so was extremely frustrated they slowed the rental process to contact my insurance company & forced me to verbally give my insurance company permission to speak to them about my policy. I was against this but needed a car & felt backed into a corner w/ no choice. The lot closes at 6 pm so if u need the vehicle for evening transportation this sight isn't very user friendly & they can not 'come pick you up' at all times. I was on hold with them for a long time & they accidentally disconnected 2 of my calls. I had to insist they document on my paperwork the rock chips in the paint, a tiny dint in the body, stain in back seat, 1 hour late return at no charge, a small discount since we were a saint Jude 's family. read more

The worst customer service ever! Stay away! They wouldn't even call another location after they said the airport location couldnt lease if we were an insurance case. I previously spoke with an enterprise representative before we went to pick up the car that said we could since no other locations were open.
