The smoked salmon was very fishy, a little off. The potatoes dry, waffle so hard it darted off my place and the Bennies had a rock hard bottom in two cases. This was despite the fact everything was replenished frequently. The eggs. I've never seen a block of scrambled eggs before, but there it was! And it was as tasteless as it appeared. The two saviours were the lovely orange smoked ham and the crab legs. Dessert would have saved the meal if it tasted as good as it looked. The B52 cheesecakes was sour, the stuffed cream puff dry and tasteless, only the orange pudding saved the dessert. But be prepared, folks, the Carriage House now has security against Dine and Dashers, ominous well dressed young men who look a bit formal, AND an 18% Gratuity on top of the $65.00 per person with no seniors discount. Check in was smooth and the staff has been very friendly. (Is that a Canadian thing?) Our rooms (non-suite) are a bit worn, but very clean and with a fridge and microwave, there is convenience built in. The bathroom is large, clean and it was hard for me to pry myself away from the warm shower. The tv has lots of options to watch, but I fell asleep quickly on a firm but very comfy mattress. We like free breakfast, and there is a nice combination of warm and cold options. If there are scrambled eggs and make-your-own waffles, it's a good day. Very close to drugstore and several fast food restaurants. Only downside, sound and light easily bleed through the door. I can hear my neighbors shower like they're in my own room. Otherwise, thumbs up for Lakeview.

I had a prepaid online reservation & I am a preferred AVIS member. They denied me a car as well as the man ahead of me. They do not know how to run a business. They left me in a horrible bind. I will never ever use this rental location again. They took my points and left me without a vehicle. Poor business. I prefer to rent from the airport. This is the worst car rental in history. They barely speak English as well and are scammers.

Josephine and Raghu were incredibly welcoming and helpful, offering us refreshments, genuine conversation and later dinner recommendations with directions. We stayed in the Dublin room which was not only full of history, from the hand done crosses on the bed to the frame itself all the way from Ireland but also very cozy. Josephine is a woman of detail, thoughtfulness, and caregiving towards her guests. Now onto the food which was absolutely fantastic. For breakfast we enjoyed fresh squeezed orange juice, berry panna cotta, and the most amazing egg & green onion croissant sandwich (along with more riveting conversation with Josephine) on beautiful China. The next day when we had to leave early she put together a lovely breakfast to go with some of her homemade muffins. All in all it was the perfect relaxing ending to our stay in Canada and we will definitely come back and recommend to all who visit Calgary.

Interesting note: After the housekeeping staff figured out I was by myself and slept on one side of the bed, they customized the pillow setup when they made my bed. Nice little gesture that show the attention to each customer. Helpful Hint: The parking lot does fill up rather quickly in the evening, so park at the front lobby to unload if you have a passenger.
