1-Star Review for Enterprise Rent-A-Car - Manager Cody If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience with the manager, Cody, was absolutely unacceptable. From the moment I walked in, he was dismissive, rude, and made it clear that customer service was the last thing on his mind. He talked down to me, ignored my concerns, and acted like I was an inconvenience rather than a paying customer. Not only was Cody unprofessional, but he also showed a complete lack of accountability when issues with my rental came up. Instead of offering solutions, he gave me attitude and excuses. It felt like he was doing me a favor by even speaking to me. I've rented from Enterprise before and never had a problem -- until now. If this location wants to keep loyal customers, they need to seriously reevaluate who they put in charge. I originally booked with this Oswego Enterprise location. However, upon a reserved vehicle pickup, they demanded to have my auto insurance policy number. The man there said it's a new mandatory policy. He said without the insurance information, no one can ever rent a car through Enterprise. I went back in and told him the website states otherwise but he kept saying it's their new policy and they can't do anything about it. So, I told the guy, that I'll take my business elsewhere. I was at the White Eagle Body Shop due to damage to my personal vehicle. This shop is 10 mins away from the Enterprise. The associate at White Eagle contacted this Enterprise who advised that a driver was on the way with the rental vehicle. This was at 830 AM. After waiting for 1 hour, enterprise finally arrived at 930 AM. They had a car to drive me to my rental. Due to my pregnant wife's doctor's appointment at 10, I did not go. I just left after being picked up by my wife. Unbelievably horrible experience. I do not recommend this place. read more

Unfortunately, this is now my second time having to file a complaint. The first was because of the quality of the vehicle given to me and the condition in which it was in. I had to make another trip back to Enterprise to exchange it for another vehicle. After getting this other vehicle (Nissan Altima), it was also observed this car had a missing hub cap on the front passenger side with minor fender/bumper damage and a new tire was just installed. I wasn't going to worry about this again, as I just had to deal with this problem previously. The car overall was fine for what I needed it for, however, still not 100% for what I paid for. The car ran fine and no issues, until I went to return it. I was told that there was front damage to the bumper and was asked by Michael (Front desk staff) about what happened. I explained to him the situation that it was there previously and that I had no idea what he was talking about. Also, this so called, "damage" was in the area of the tire that had no hub cap and was just replaced before I picked up the vehicle. The notification for low air in the tire was also on when I received and was told it was ok because they just replaced that tire. I waited 45 minutes to receive the vehicle due to it needing to be cleaned and filled with gas. I was then told to come back inside to speak with the Assistant Branch Manager, Dejah Huffman. This was not the first interaction with her, as I spoke with her to exchange the first car. After the first exchange and after filing the complaint with corporate, she gave me her business card and asked that I do not contact corporate again because it makes her look bad. I am now back filing a complaint because Mrs. Huffman was very unprofessional and rude during my drop off and situation of the damage. I explained to her the issue and even stated that I am now having to deal with this after an initial exchange of a vehicle because of the condition. She told me that I would be held liable and would pay for all damages. I asked for a report of any incidents or accidents for the vehicle, because I wanted to check and see if the replaced tire and missing hubcap were related to the damage of the bumper. She told me that the vehicle has never been damaged or in an accident and refused to provide any documentation. She proceeded to tell me that she would be billing my credit card for the damages. I told her I would contact corporate again and deal with them as this is totally unacceptable. She then began to ask additional questions; however, I no longer would communicate with her because she was argumentative and also on her cell phone texting, while we were in our discussion. As a doctor in the health care field, professionalism goes a long way. In my 37 years of life, I have never been mistreated nor spoken to in such a demeaning way, by a manager. The front desk staff were great and were always smiling and happy to assist. After I left, I received a phone call, and a voicemail was left by Mrs. Huffman. She reported that she let her detailer (who she stated was also a mechanic) look at the vehicle and he determined it was an alignment issue that was created from a previous customer and that I was, in fact, not responsible for the issues on the vehicle. Unfortunately, she had to be rude and did not listen to anything I was telling her, and jumped right to saying, "You will be billed for all damages, and I have no control over that. You are responsible for the vehicle." My experience with Oswego Enterprise was 1 out of 10 and it is very sad that a manager speaks to customers that way. Please note, during all the 3 visits that I made there for this transaction, she was always texting and/or talking to a friend on the phone. Again, very unprofessional. I am still very upset and feel disrespected as a customer who paid for this service and was provided with poor vehicles and poor service. I hope you will look into these issues, and I thank you for your time. read more

I have tried for 3 days to cancel my rental scheduled for Monday February 7, 2022. During all three attempts, I have been on hold for over 20 minutes. While on hold, I had the privilege of having to listen to the same Enterprise Advertisement over and over again. Very Poor Customer Experience. I do no recommend renting from this branch. While typing this, a voice came on the phone and stated, "We cannot help you at this time, thank you." REALLY!!! At this point, I am done trying to be respectful by calling a head of time for a cancellation. A customer's time should be respected and not left on hold for an extended period of time, only to then be disconnected. Put in a reservation a week ago for an SUV after my wife's vehicle was rear ended insurance company authorized and aSUV was confirmed by the staff. Would give zero stars in I could. I called corporate to talk about a 3-month rental. They said I could call the local branch and they could negotiate down a long term rental. I called this location, Adam answered and was completely no help. Told me He couldn't help and that I needed to go online. Then he wouldn't even price up a rate for me and kept trying to hangup on me. Complete garbage customer service. Will never rent from enterprise again. Adam, we all have bad and busy days, but your job is 90% customer service. Today you are apparently only doing 10% of your job. These Enterprise response emails are a scam. The email goes nowhere and no one responds. If you read other complaints, you will find the same results. This is Enterprise's attempt at an appearance of 'customer service' and damage control. This fraud is so rampant nationwide, it is shameful. This is an update to Enterprise approach in general and not a specific location but since it started at Oswego I am trailing it from there. After my initial review Drew has followed up with me and in the e-mail string (see below) indicated an upper management would contact me soon, so we are exactly 20 days later and there is no follow up, I understand people staying busy but maybe, just maybe you could pick up the phone or sent a quick note indicating that actually someone is looking into a rather concerning issue. So I am going to draw and share my own conclusion here, yes Enterprise needs to maintain a positive image but it can't be done on empty promises, I don't want no freebies, I don't want any special privileged treatment but do not pool wool over my eyes making it seem like someone is on top of it or really cares! Justin from this location was absolutely great! Nice genuine guy which loves the company he works for and goes above and beyond for the customer. I didnt have an appointment and he was able to get me in same day with a car slightly above the daily allowance for my insurance company. I was in and out the same day in about 5 mins. Returned today with no issues at all. Justin even called me about an item that i left in the car immediately and put my name on it. I give this business one star because I would NOT rent a car here again. I spoke to a lady who promised me $211.00 for a rental car for four days. I was promised that I would not be charged extra if I brought the car back before 4pm. We brought the car back at 1pm. They added an extra days' charge which brought the price to $266.00 with tax claiming that I was never promised anything like that. On top of that, they were rude and belligerent!! I called on Thursday to arrange a premium car but when I arrived Saturday they didn't have any premium cars available. They had only one car available one class below premium--not too big of a deal so I settled for that. Upon getting in the car I noticed an unpleasant odor which I had assumed was some type of air freshener they used when cleaning the car--again, no big deal as I figured it would dissipate after a few hours. Rented from Oswego, IL. Very slow rental process - but blamed that on bad weather. They had to "clean" the snow from the car before letting me have it which took at least 20 minutes. Incredibly strong air freshener smell. Next morning, after being garaged all night, the cigarette smoke was very prevalent. I DO NOT smoke. 48 hours later car still smells like smoke. Also, not the cleanest rental I've ever had. Rentals from other Enterprise locations have all been very favorable. read more

I recently made a reservation to rent a cargo van with Zach at Enterprise in Kendall Pointe, Oswego. I called 24 hours prior to my reservation to confirm all was prepared, and ready for my pick up the next day. When I called I was informed they had been trying to reach me, and could not do so - I had no missed calls/messages from Enterprise. They informed me they had given my rental away. He then went on to inform me that I had no truck before my move that weekend, everyone was all out of vans. He apologized and gave me the name of a manager for the other location and made it my responsibility to locate a replacement cargo van. Given this service I assumed I was dealing with an associate, not a manager, and being in the management/customer service field myself was not surprised and delighted by the level of anxiety that was dropped on me by Zach and his team. I finally called customer service and they located a van for me - brand new, 49 miles on it. Perfect. I was happy, and ready to make the move. The next day during the move I began smelling a burning smell coming from the dash, as well as heat coming from under the dash of the van. We just summed it up the drive and the van being new. However, it got worst, and the problems continued. The van began having wiring issues. The lights inside the cabin of the van would come on when you stepped on the break, when you turned on the turn signals and stepped on the break the cabin light would come on, and blink in unison with the turn signals. My friend who I was traveling with was wearing flip flops and moved his foot bumping it on the underside of the dash and burned his foot. We called Enterprise in Kendall Point and Melissa (I believe her name was) explained, that if the vehicle was faulty, and the associate at a near by location could witness this I would not be charged a drop fee and/or the van could be switched out. Well, I was so frustrated at this point given the service I had received I opted to return the van. The young lady in Cabot, Arkansas confirmed herself the van was having issues that were not brought on by me, the renter and said, you wont be charged the drop fee, let me close out your bill and have Oswego fax the receipt. When I got my receipt I was charged the $250 drop fee. She apologized saying they charged my card and it was up to me to contact Oswego. I called and spoke with Zach again and he said he was told by his boss to charge the drop fee and I had to go through the area manager to handle the situation. Well, I called customer service who put me in contact with Patrick who was rude, condescending, and a smart ass. He went on to ask me about my finances, why I wanted my money back, how I was going to pay/continue the move. He then went on to explain I was not getting my money back - period!!! I told him I was going to call my credit company cancel charges, report this to the better business beurea and he said, "Go right ahead!" This has by far been the worst experience I have EVER had with Enterprise. They were rude, unprofessional, and unwilling to help a customer. I should have never had to call to locate my own vehicle. Deal with the issues getting my money back, and pay the drop fee's. Not to mention the service from the other branch who explained to me because I AM NOT their customer, but Oswego's customer they need to handle it and he will not help me. I will report this incident to all friend/family and to all social networking sites. I feel this is the worst customer service that could be given to any customer and I am sad to see that Enterprise has taken their management style in this direction after years of renting through them. read more

I had a reservation here, but nothing was available except 2 GM suv's (that would've cost an additional $14/15 per day out of pocket) or 1 Hyundai Accent (SUB-COMPACT) car. When I called earlier this morning to see what mid size cars were available that were comparable to mine that needed repairs, there was a ford fusion, but Chuck said they couldn't hold it for me -& why not?! All the other enterprise rental branches would've held the reservation, and I know b/c I called both enterprises in Plainfield, one in Naperville and 1 in Aurora -but they had ZERO cars on their lot available. How is this stinking possible?? They all said I could call back later when they expect more to be returned, but their contracts are all open-ended, so of course they offer no guarantees! What kind of business that's sole purpose is to rent cars has NOTHING but 2 suv's or a mini death trap in all of Oswego, Plainfield, Naperville and Aurora??? Terrible. read more

Whole process was fine. They had a handful of cars. It was first thing in the AM, so their were 4 or 5 ppl in there renting. I got what I asked for, a mid size car. The lady behind apparently asked for a midsize also and ended up with a mini van (no additional cost). Made the reservation with a debit card, wasn't told that they needed a copy of a bill (gas, electric, cell) if you use a debit card. Was able to pull up a cell phone bill on my phone right there and email it to them thankfully. read more
