I picked a full size rental car and paid for it in advance. 2 weeks later we went to pick up the vehicle and was given a Kia Compact 5 door car. The lady at counter said she worked all day to get us a full size but everyone was out of stock. It was the Kia or nothing. The Kia was the same grade of car we already own. We picked a full size car for a reason for our 13 hour drive. If we wanted the road noise and less comfortable seats we would have taken one of our own cars and saved the money. Don't give me the option to pick from different car categories and different price levels if you are just going to give me whatever you happen to have on hand. If you can't provide the level car requested then don't make your location an option for pick up. I want to keep my spending dollars locally but not at my expense. We were told by Hertz to give a case number to the clerk when we return the car and we would be given some type of concession. This did not happen. When we returned the car, a day early even, we were told that since we pre-paid they could not do anything. Education received! Business taken to competitor.

Last time, it was that they didn't replace the tires on an suv, (definitely check the tires) and had a blowout. Not a fluke, just thousands of miles past their service life. Scary, but typical. But if you must book here, like me, do so very far in advance, because they don't have enough cars for the location.

After reading…read morenumerous online reviews across several sites, I landed with Enterprise (I'm normally a Hertz Gold Plus). Enterprise had the highest and most consistent ratings next to Alamo. Come to find out all the high rated companies are owned by the same folks. Bravo to that group for providing quality service. Enterprise was also one of the select few that had a published phone number that would get you to an actual Tulsa agent vice the 1-800 black holes. I got into Tulsa just short of 11pm and was able to find my way to the garage booth and the young lady there was very warm, friendly, and speedy. She was able to put me in a truck and I was on my way in less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend the Tulsa Airport Enterprise for future rentals. *Note on TUL Intl: Don't go down stairs to find the rental counters, they are on the main floor just outside security. The booths are across the drive on the top level of the parking garage. Signage is small when you come out of the concourses (A or B) but, you can find them pretty quickly if you pay attention.
