I rented from this location twice in one month. Both times Christian checked us in. During the first rental, our rental truck (an awesome new Silverado) incurred a small dent in the rear right from an unknown source. Christian claimed this was "major damage" and tried to collect $500 on the spot. Ok I said in my mind, one incident, maybe a bad day for him, partially my fault. The second time we rented a F 150. It had dirty floors and a gas tank below 1/2. Upon returning, and based on past experience, I took careful attention to bring the gas to the near exact point (hard to tell on pickups with big fuel tanks). Christian, without even discussion, brought me his pad for signature and said he added in 5 gallons of gas at $25. Abby the manager came out and waived the fee after looking at the gas gauge- but the damage was done. Because they have no cars at any location in the entire city! I was the seventh person he called since all of us had mistakenly thought a reservation meant they would reserve a car. Nope. So I will never go on vacation expecting a car reservation means anything. Time to start using Turo. Instead we had to spend over $100 on Uber to keep our plans. read more

One of the better experiences I've had with a car rental company. People should always mention in their review the day/time they book because huge variables come into play depending on the day most notably in regards to wait times. My rental was from tuesday-thursday last week of august. I had reserved my car after finding the cheapest one in the area a month ahead of time. I periodically searched again as prices are known to fluctuate. Luckily, I was able to save another $20 on my two-day rental by rebooking a week beforehand. And this was already half the price of what it would cost at PDX airport. I think I may just rent near city centers and just uber or public transport myself from the airport going forward. Anyway, my reservation was for noon and there were a couple workers and couple other customers getting taken care of. I waited for a few minutes until someone became available and I believe his name was Ryan. He was very cordial and helpful. I think I've become paranoid when renting a car because of stories of hidden fees and being coaxed into upgrades and pre-paying for fuel. Ryan wasn't pushy and I asked him straight if there were any fees or anything I had to worry about when signing my documents. He told me not to worry. He also gave me some choices of vehicles to drive, one of which was a dodge charger! Mind you, I chose the economy (cheapest) vehicle when I booked and this def wasn't in the same price range. Again, being very skeptical, I asked how much more before getting too excited. He told me there was no surcharge and my rate would cover this car. I then happily obliged. We did a quick survey of the car for damages and I did notice some dings here and there that I brought to his attention and again he calmed my nerves by explaining that they needed to be about 2 inches long for it to be worth noting. When I returned the car, I knew I would unlikely be dealing with Ryan again and I was right. There were other employees at my return. Again, I was getting anxious whether they would charge me for something obscure or the dings that were previously there. But everything went smoothly and I was happy with my experience. I think I need to relax a little bit more when renting a car, but I do think most of the anxiety comes form airport car rentals that can be pushy and aggressive and where you are more likely to be swindled. This Enterprise has definitely impressed me and I will looking be at their services first. At least at this location, I know I will be treated well. read more

Horrible management/ customer service. Literally the worst I've ever dealt with. Enterprise might want to hire a new manager at this location. This all started with a phone call to "confirm" my reservation. On this phone call we were informed by en employee named Edward, that our rental car could be dropped off for us. We thought this would be perfect, being that we're a one car household so less planning had to take place, or so we thought. Luckily we called ahead of time to confirm that our car would be dropped off(as promised). But on this phone call we were informed that they weren't even sure if they would have a car available and they do not deliver cars. Meaning, Edward completely made it up. This was an extreme inconvenience. I called back and explained my frustration to the manager on sight(Stephen). He offered, as compensation, a measly 10% discount off the total, which was accepted... If only this were the last of it. When it came time to return the key and get our $200 despiste back, the manager Stephen said "before I give your your deposite back" and proceeded to try and force us into a five star rating. He said anything less than five stars isn't passing and tried to debate us into a better rating. The audacity of this manager was disgusting. I've never, in my life experienced anything like this. Giving my wife attitude and trying to bully us into a five star rating because his team is telling people cars can delivered when they can't, is a wild way to run this store front. Renting cars is annoying with the price fluctuations based on location. It pays to hunt for the best rate in town. Sometimes the gouging at the airport is not worth it. For my trip, downtown locations were more expensive. This location had the cheapest rates and just a short distance from Chinatown across the Burnside bridge. I took a quick look and it looks like this one is more expensive now! Portland's easy to get around via train/bus and lyft. But if you want to visit Multnomah Falls you need a car! This location happens to be a few blocks away from Nong's restaurant and Le Pigeon. I decided to hit up Pine State Biscuits before hand since they're not on the downtown side. The parking lot was jammed full of cars and can be hard to back out of on a ordinary day. But with packed snow causing bad traction - it was intimidating. They don't offer snow chains on rentals and the nearby auto parts store was gouging them for $120 pair with no returns. Thankfully modern cars have traction control and ABS standard nowadays. The rep said it should be okay to drive but to be careful and give lots of room. Almost got the car ice stuck in a street parking spot. Eventually the tires bit hard enough and the car lurched off the ice pack. I did see many cars sliding around on the streets, mangled cars, and one nearly spun in front of me on the highway. After years of racing and spinning - even Portland's ice conditions were more treacherous! Definitely recommend inspecting your car well with the staff before leaving. Portland is notorious for rocks causing windshield and paint damage. My car had a preexisting bullseye in the windshield. When I went to return the car - they strongly suggested I return it to the location in downtown. I suspect downtown locations always needs cars and the staff at this location didn't want to add another to their overcrowded lot. Ask before hand and save yourself an extra errand. Overall this location was budget friendly and fairly hassle free. Not nearly the awful experience other reviews have mentioned. read more

We stayed in the middle of the road in the morning, we called all the operator's employees, they just rushed us to another operator and we stood on the line at about 02:00, then after 90 minutes they told us that someone would come and fix it for us, he arrived in an hour, then he fixed it for us, but in exactly two for an hour we were back on the road when we asked him maybe we should change the car they said no everything is fine the car is in good condition but two hours later we stopped back on the same day we stayed on the road and no one helped us we call and there is no answer even when we ask them for help they never asked us for forgiveness they answered rudely as if it was our fault, it was the worst company they ruined my day I'm shocked that this company still exists because it's terrible twice I I stopped on the way once in the morning, once at lunchtime, it's terrible read more

This is probably the most painless rental car experience I've had, to date. Admittedly, there's a big difference between a restaurant, where an experience can be truly outstanding or just good, vs a rental car, where it's really just a question of "did they mess anything up or did they not?", but there's another big difference between those, in that the majority of rental car places, in my experience, are scuzzy as *frack*, so it's always a breath of fresh air interacting with one that truly wants you to have a good experience and doesn't try to trick you, nickel-and-dime you, or anything else. In fact, hilariously, in addition to all the usual reasons to like them over the archetypal rental car place (not having a long line of people waiting because they know how to respect peoples' time, not trying to convince them that optional add-ons are mandatory, being willing to accept that my card includes insurance on rental cars without any arguing, clearly actually doing a proper inspection of the car they gave us and not pulling any BS about dings, not trying to give us a car that doesn't have gas, not trying to give us a car that isn't the kind of car we asked for - anything!), in addition to all those things they didn't do, another thing they didn't do was charge us the agreed-upon rate. That's right: they charged us several dollars *less*. Actually, when I picked up the car, they gave us a rate about 5 dollars cheaper than the quote, and then when I dropped it off the next morning, they actually ran my card for *another* couple dollars cheaper. Not sure why, but I wasn't going to make a fuss, obviously. Not sure why there are so many bad reviews - maybe I just got lucky, but I definitely don't have anything but good things to say about this particular rental car location. We decided kind of last minute to rent a car so we booked at this location because it was within walking distance of our hotel. We booked early the morning we wanted to pick up the car and then received a call asking us if they could move our reservation several hours later so we wouldn't be waiting in line as they take people in order of their reservations and they had a number of people with the same reservation time. It was inconvenient and almost derailed our travel plans for the day, but once we got there are saw the size of the waiting area, honestly we were glad that they called and let us know the situation instead of just letting us show up and wait forever. We were there for probably 30 or so minutes before we were on our way. Everyone was super nice and apologetic about the delay that morning. The car we were going to get wasn't ready so we got a bigger car for the same price. Everything was explained really clearly and I was encouraged to take photos of every scratch, dent, etc. for my own peace of mind despite being reassured that those items were considered wear and tear. The interior looked to have some cat hair in it and the tank was less than half a tank. Would have been nice to start with a fully cleaned car and full tank, but the overall experience was good. I rent a lot of cars and have been to a lot of rental places in town and this is hands down the best. Service is great and their vehicles are always deep cleaned and ready to roll. ( I have had issues with other locations having dirty masks, cups, etc when I picked up so I come here instead, has never happened) I rent monthly and have made this location my go to spot regardless of other locations being a bit closer. The service factor beats out the convenience factor. Callie is my gal there, she is especially fantastic and always remembers me. Top notch. Rest of the staff is very helpful and friendly too. I'm going to be honest, I don't normally get excited about rental car places. HOWEVER, we booked a car for a day trip to Tillamook with the hopes of getting something better than a standard car. When we walked up we saw the Dodge Challenger with the HEMI and I knew we were in for an adventure. Driving the car through the Tillamook State Forest was my favorite part of the trip. The car was lean, mean and super fun! A smooth ride the entire way and my husband was like a kid, getting to drive such an excellent car. All of the folks here were super-nice and helpful. I was a little wary of renting a car from this Eastside location given some of the lower reviews, but I decided to go through with it because it was the closest and most affordable car rental location for my needs. After completing my 3-day rental, I'm happy to report 0 issues! Staff in the office were friendly and helpful and there was no pressure to add additional insurance or any other options I didn't need. I was forewarned of the high credit card hold that would be adjusted appropriately once the reservation was completed, so I didn't experience any unexpected charges. The little car I went with seemed in good shape and had no issues on my road trip. Both for pick-up and drop-off I was in and out of the office within ~5 minutes, and one of the employees even gave me a complimentary ride to my chosen destination after I dropped off the rental. I realize now that's probably standard, but it being my first solo car rental this came as a pleasant surprise! All said, I'd definitely rent from this location again in future. read more

Renting a car should definitely NOT take over 40 minutes. And by the looks of it, there is a clear pattern of poor service and lengthy wait times, on various Yelp reviews. Did I mention we has a reservation and an appointment? There were several groups waiting, so we weren't the only ones. There were so many people waiting, that the waiting area inside was full. We arrived on time to be told our car was on it's way in about 15 minutes. Okay, no big deal. Half hour later, still no car. The entire time I was eyeing the Black Jetta that was parked underneath their half-a**ed carwash station thinking how annoyed I would be if that was our car. 40 minutes later...it turns out it was our car, just sitting there. While waiting outside in the heat (it was actually hot and sunny in Portland), I watched one of the female managers help the staff that was in charge of washing the vehicles, and let me tell you, there was NO washing involved. A quick spray with the hose and they were done. The same was applied to our car. They shouldn't have even bothered. They just sprayed more dust all over the windshield. In between spraying cars the staff were literally racing cars in and out of the lot, I thought for sure there were going to be some fender benders. To make up for the inconvenience, they offered a 10% discount and said we could return the car on empty. I've never seen such a disorganized and inefficient operation. So, nope, I would not recommend this location. read more

This was the worst customer service I have had in a long time. Not with one, but all three who were there. 1. I asked if I can see rates for different cars available before giving my CC info for security deposit, which seems reasonable, which was met with attitude and glances with a co-worker. Isn't that a reasonable logical step before setting up payment options for a car I have yet to agree on? 2. The employee who took me out to see the available cars did not even respond to me saying "I'm sorry, I don't mean to come off annoying. I just want to know what the rates are for different vehicles before I sign up." He just pointed to two vehicles and gave me rates and pretty much walked away. I came in and indicated how I dropped off my vehicle for repairs after getting into a car accident. I don't need sympathy, but I do expect someone who is in a customer service role to show that they care and have the desire to offer great service. If you don't know how to do that, you should not be in that role. I am extremely disappointed with my experience here today, and as much as I'd like to think that they were maybe just having a bad day, it is not my job to be empathetic in this situation. Renting a car should NOT take 2 hours. There were 4 people waiting inside so we were 5th in line. There was a really nice guy named Joe working and a woman. We arrived at 9 am on a Sunday with a reservation, expecting it to take no more than 30 minutes and even that's a very generous time frame. We had plans to go watch the Mexico-Netherlands game which started at 9 am. How did we get through the entire game at Enterprise, watching it on our phones? We were told "thank you for your patience", "you are next", and "your car is almost ready" for 2 hours! Someone who came in after us got their car right away. We sat there and watched car after car being washed and parked while ours sat there. We were given an upgrade but I would have preferred our original rental if it would have been faster. There really was no order to how customers were being handled. If they would have taken the time with each customer to get them out of there I think we would have been taken care of more quickly. Two different people came in way after us to return cars and they were taken care of as well before us. And each phone call they answered took forever. The calls should also be put in a queue. Even though the staff was very nice, they were not very efficient and wasted our time. read more

If I could give this a negative star rating, I would. Let me recap the awfulness here: -- We showed up in the morning for our reservation and knew we were in for a bad experience as there were people spilling out from the office into the street. The lone customer service rep told us it would be at least 45 minutes until they had a car ready for us -- and let me repeat, we had a reservation. He actually said, "you can go have lunch and then it will be ready." It was 10:30 in the morning. -- It actually took over an hour for us to finally get our car. When I asked another guy if things were always such a shitshow at this location, he said, "This isn't too bad today. You should have seen it earlier in the week." So apparently their business plan is to be really terrible all the time and to not have cars ready when you make a reservation. Good stuff, guys. -- The turd cherry on the shit sundae arrived when we got in the car and started it up. It had less than a 1/4 tank of gas in it. That's unheard of for a rental car, which should always be full. When I pointed it out to the service rep, his response was, "There's a gas station around the corner." Seriously. Wow. What a horrible way to run any kind of business. Luckily we weren't on a tight schedule, or else this really would have been a disaster. Centrally located with great service! Cruised in early in the morning to pick up a rental I had reserved. I was helped by a great dude in a suit, chipper and professional (especially for the early AM hour). We were going one way to Seattle, so he found us a bigger car than reserved with Washington plates. Being that it had to go back anyway, he upgraded us for a small daily fee of a few bucks! Unfortunately, the SUV's exterior was a tad dirty. No problem! He fetched a hose and brush and cleaned the car himself, suit and all! I'm a loyal Enterprise renter and when I saw the reviews of this location after booking my recent car with them, I will admit I was a little concerned. However, I had no problems with long wait times described in some of the reviews. In fact, I had a very similar experience to Ricardo H. with excellent customer service and easy in & out both on pick up and returning of my vehicle. If I had to complain about anything it would be the small lot making it difficult to navigate when everyone was returning their cars on a Friday night. I've learned to look off-airport to find better deals for rentals and this one had the best in the area for the time period we needed. It's a short walk from the Tri-Met station (and a not too long walk from the Max station) and was easy to find. read more

I think Enterprise Rent A Car in general is a great rental car company. For one, I like that it is Family owned and that every one of their employees is a college graduate. I have nothing against not going to college, but it is more about starting a goal and finishing it, even when the going gets tough. The great thing about this company is that they want feedback right, then and there, so they can go above and beyond your expectations. Had a great experience here. Shout outs to Daisy and Tracy (i think), Connor, and John. I had some bodywork done on my auto and the shop said they'd arrange for Enterprise to collect me and then get me into a car. I didn't call Enterprise directly and let them know I was coming, but the body shop has a relationship, so I was just ready to accept what was available. I love renting cars and trying new vehicles I've never driven before. It took them awhile to get me. The driver was not what I expected, he didn't exactly portray a friendly, youthful, buttoned up type. Kind of gruff actually, not friendly. Got to the lot safely. Daisy gave me a few offers of what was available and I didn't mind taking a pickup truck. She also matched the price that I was getting allotted for the rental (thru the insurance co.) I took the Nissan Frontier with empty fuel and I would just return it empty. It was okay, but pet hair on the back seat. I had the Frontier for about a week, my real car wasn't done yet and I called ahead to Enterprise to see if I could get another rental-I spoke with Daisy and said I'd be by the next day around 9. Tracy was there when I came in, she suggested I come back at 5 for more choices of vehicle. I stated that I'd spoke to Daisy, I wasn't picky, I just wanted to try another car. She kind of voiced there wasn't much avail. but I insisted, "what do you have?" -she vaguely pointed to cars, I said I'd take the Chevy Colorado and she just handed me the key and off I went, I think she just noted the fuel. I appreciated this moment where she didn't make me do any paperwork and trusted me with swapping trucks. Over the next couple weeks they never called to ask about returning the car - but then I started updating them because it took way longer than it should have. They were cooperative and good to work with. Still pet hair in the Chevy Colorado. Only complaint would be pet hair in the cars and that I had to initiate the call - to get my final billing/as the Auto Body Shop returned the car for me. I've always used Enterprise and this was another solid experience. The Chevy Colorado was super deluxe fancy, 2019. read more

Well, this place was terrible. I have never had a bad experience with enterprise but first time for everything. I have a long term rental, my car is on recall from Toyota and they are paying for it. They gave me a car that was number one, sooooo dirty!! It was covered with dog hair on the seats, Windows were hard to see out of and everything was stained, sticky or covered in dust. Second, the customer service was horrible. They were rude, didn't provide me paperwork even tho I asked multiple times. To add onto it the car they gave me needed and oil change a day after they gave it to me. So I decided I wasn't going to deal with them at all and went somewhere else. I swapped it out at the branch on 28th and Sandy. Those guys were amazing! Go there, it's not that far and they will provide you such better care. read more

This is the absolute worst Enterprise location I've ever been to... Long lines and slow service is their specialty. They don't have self- check-in kiosks, they use old-school paper receipts stacked on a desk to track rentals, and even force you to wait in the same long lines to simply return your car.
