We needed to rent car oneway ohare to Fargo could not find one at Ohare so we looked outside city, found one at Rockford airport, booked and received confirmation, rented uber only to arrive and was told they didn't have a oneway option! We picked up a rental car at the Rockford Regional Airport where Allegiant airlines fly into. We picked up our luggage and walked over to the Enterprise counter. There had to be thirty people already standing in line. No one from Enterprise made any announcement of what the problem was, nothing. It got to the point where a lady in front of us called her friend to be picked up. It took an hour for us to get to the counter! Rumors started in the line that there were no cars. I called my brother to give him a heads up that we may need to be picked up. Talk about stress! When we asked the lady at the counter if they were out of cars, she said that there were plenty of cars, that a couple workers called in sick and that Enterprise management were at a convention and there were no supervisors at the facility. We finally got our car over an hour after landing! Note - Rockford airport is a very small airport with maybe 5 - 10 flights per day. To make matters worse, Enterprise sent me multiple invoices totalling over $58.00 to date for Illinois tolls, most of the cost was 'service fees'. I had tried to pay the tolls online but even after adding the license number of the rental car to the Illinois tollway system, no tolls ever showed up. Looks like a scam to me. I recently totaled my car and needed a Rental. The process was made very smooth by the competent customer service agents and the speedy check out process. The weather at this time was Frigid, High's of -10 during the day and -25 at night. During this time I had a flat which is an inconvenience in the best of weather but try getting help changing a tire when there are 8 inches of snow on the ground and everything is FROZEN!! When Thoa at the Rockford Enterprise office heard of my dilema she sent two employees out to my location with a car for me. I could not have asked for better service. To top it off when I dropped off my rental because I had purchased a car The manager of the office drove me to the car dealership. I could not possibly have asked for a better experience. Terrible experience. Ruined my day. Had a car reservation for this AM with a confirmation number and arrived on time. The staff then told me they had no cars available and weren't sure when they would. I asked why they took my reservation if they didn't have any cars. I could have made other plans. They said the online website just keeps taking reservations and apparently isn't aware of the local inventory. Seems like a basic flaw to the Enterprise business model to take a reservation for a car they don't have. Not even a call from the Rockford store to cancel. Totally disrespectful to the customer. The staff didn't even apologize or offer to help in any way. Just stood around and ignored me while I found other transportation on my own. This took hours. Ended up missing work which inconvenienced a lot of other people. Will never rent from Enterprise again especially this location, their quality and service are horrible. read more

Reserved a Van here. When I got there, they offered two other choices. They weren't ideal, but I didn't complain. When they called to officially charge my credit card after the trip, they were confused and only wanted to charge me for one day. I corrected them and informed them I had the vehicle for a whole week. So....fast foward a couple weeks and Enterprise is charging me $25.00 dollars extra for a $1.90 toll. I asked how the tolls worked when renting the vehicle and this was not explained. Just seems absolutely ridiculous that they can't pass on the 1.90 toll charge without that kind of up-charge. Guess that's the thanks I get for telling them I owe them for a whole week instead of just a day. read more

Worst experience even tho set up by our insurance company. We have never done business with them but they have me on a DO NOT RENT list going back to 2018 when they said I rented a car and never paid for it. How is that possible? Of course, nobody can explain the origins of the charges or produce any documentation .... So my car is off for repairs and the "reservation" set up by our insurance agent disappeared.... I understand that business are doing the best they can during Covid times. That being said I've been waiting for a car that I per booked for 1 hour now and there is a line 12 people deep behind me. The man that checked me in said that they had someone call in today and that they are short handed. That's not my complaint. My complaint is that there is no hussle with the two guys that are working . One moves at a average pace I would say the other is loafing to each car and customer like as if there is no one here waiting ..its truly mind blowing. Its they" I get paid either way" mentality. Super annoying and just straight up bad business. When there is less help they should pick up the pace to cover the situation or the company should have protocol in place for this situation. Especially during Covid and on a Saturday! Get it together Enterprise or dont promise things you cant provide . How about less t.v. commercials andinstad use this millions of dollars to hire a higher caliber of employee and get more of them! Its really as simple as having upper management see how this is being run and I'll bet it would change unless they are trying to follow in the foot steps of other companies that dont make it in this new environment. I asked to talk to his boss Kyle was also was uncaring and unhelpful Asked for corporate number I was told they don't have a number for this situation and I should be happy that they called and at least told me that they don't have a car for me. AVOID THESE BAIT AND SWITCH CON ARTISTS LIKE THE PLAGUE!!! I reserved a luxury SUV from the Rockford, IL Location (221 N Alpine Rd). They left a voice message around 7:00 the night before I was to pick up the vehicle that stated, "the person who has the vehicle that you rented did not return it on time and it may not be available for you in the morning". At 9:30 that evening I went online and attempted to reserve the exact same vehicle from the exact same location. It allowed me to do so even though no such vehicle existed. I did the same thing at 8:00 the next morning and it again allowed me to reserve the vehicle. I arrived at the location at the appropriate time to pick up my vehicle and was given the same story about a late return. When I told them that I have a hard time believing their story because their site is still allowing me to reserve a vehicle that is not on hand, their reply "this happens all the time. The site cannot keep up with active inventory. I had to make six phone calls this morning informing people that we don't have their vehicle." They then offered me a mini van in lieu of a luxury SUV. No discount. No compensation. HERE IS THE TRUTH OF THE MATTER. They offer reservations for vehicles that they do not have. This prevents costumers from going to their competitors for reservations. They then lie to their customers by making up stories why they do not have the vehicle on hand. They know it's an issue with their reservation system but they tell you otherwise. Once the customer arrives they offer them whatever random vehicle they have on hand. This helps to rid themselves of their unrented vehicles due to the fact that most people are desperate at this point and are willing to take whatever they can get. It is a classic bait and switch. This place is a huge joke! Had me fill out all of renters info the night before for a "fast pass" just to go there and not be checked in properly so waited over an hour, go through all the checklists of requirements and check the vehicle all of that stuff. Get into the drivers seat and he then runs my debit card, my bank declined the transaction for fraud. So I call my bank to authorize it just for enterprise to then tell me they can't run my card again for another 24 hours!! There is literally so much bullshit and hoops to jump thru when it comes to renting from them! Don't bother!! Avis-Budget will get you a better vehicle and deal and it's 10x smoother of a transaction if done over the phone. Someone needs to put these people out of business. read more

Very disappointed. Staff very nice but very slow. Waited 90 minutes past my appointment time to get a car. Why make the appointment if you can't have a car ready within a reasonable timeframe. I made a reservation at their State Street location, I arrive there and they say the car is at their Alpine location. I drive to their Alpine location, and after waiting in line for 15 minutes, I am told that they are out of cars, and to wait in case a return arrives. Finally, after waiting around for 15 minutes, I am told that State Street has a car for me...so I head back to State Street again and then wait again for them to clean it and get it ready. I have these problems EVERY TIME I try to rent from Enterprise and avoid them whenever possible because they are so disorganized and always over book their inventory. I only rent from them when forced by insurance companies when someone hits my car. I never have these issues with Hertz. The car is always ready, and they NEVER give your car away. read more

We rented a car when our car was totaled in an accident. Then when we went to return it we thought we emptied everything out, but forgot a few things so we asked them to get them for us and hold them and they did. We went to pick them up, drove off, and once we got home, we realized that we had also left our garage door opener inside the rental. When we called back the person that had rented us the car originally was not on duty, but an associate named Doug was there and he went above and beyond duty to find us our remote (out of the 15 or so that other people had left in their cars. It sounds like a LOT of people make this mistake! Happy it's not just us! Lol!) and never called back for them either! I'd really like to thank Doug for being so courteous, so patient & totally understanding with us, and just for being an all-around great person to deal with! After reserving a car 1 1/2 weeks in advance for a short trip(weekend) for my father's memorial service I arrived @ the Alpine location on time. I had spoken to them twice earlier that morning as well. Was told with my Visa debit card I would have to bring two utility bills which I did. Was told @ the counter I could not rent a car because I didn't have a major cc. I did have my Visa debit card though and they would not except it. Was told that their card reader couldn't even read it. Basically they just kicked my butt out the door with no car. Company policy,was told at that time had literately just changed. How within an hour? I was dropped off @ this location and had to wait out in the rain for a ride home. Thanks a lot Enterprise. Not. I have used Enterprise before many times with no issues except now. Nothing like leaving me out to dry literately! read more

After a rough day with our car breaking down on a Sunday 300+ miles from home this Enterprise really helped us! From the start, they listened and helped get us what we need right away. My family and car were towed to a closed dealer location. Monica sent the car with a driver who arrived within 45 mins of me calling. The driver (sorry forgot his name) was very polite and informative about where to eat and stay as we were not from the area. Monica was a gem in helping us through the rental process and making drop off simple (we were able to leave it at the service location fixing our car). Top notch customer service! read more

NEVER RENT FROM ENTERPRISE!!!!!!!! I reserved a Suburban or vehicle of that equivalent from this location. I reserved over the phone. The reservation was for 10 days. I never received a confirmation email, so I called to confirm the reservation was secure for the 10 days for a Suburban or equivalent. They assured me the dates of my reservation, the price of $971 and the size of vehicle. Still I did not receive any written confirmation. I called the week I was supposed to pick up the vehicle, again to make sure it was all secure, they assured me it was. Then the night before pickup they called me to confirm. They said it was an Excursion Extended and it was for 10 days. When my friends went to pick up the rental it was a regular Excursion and when they asked for the correct one they were informed it was not available. Then they looked at other vehicles and Enterprise was going to charge them more for a minivan! Which was cheaper online than an Excursion! So then my friends went to another Enterprise location and got the Suburban that was promised. They said they would honor the $971, but they only booked it for 7 days. Then dropping it off they were charged an additional almost $1,000 claiming it was for a week reservation the entire time! Needless to say, NEVER RENT FROM ENTERPRISE!!!!! read more
