If I could select 0 I would!!! Terrible experience with terrible customer service. I booked my reservation online and when I showed up they had no car for me and wouldn't have anything available for the remainder of the morning. I was called at 7:55am that they had no car for me and my pickup was scheduled for 8am.... I live 25 minutes away and needed to get into the city that day and had to scramble to find a car as this location refused to help or do anything even though I had a confirmed reservation! I called another location in Haverhill and got transferred to the general call center and spoke with a women who was a complete jerk for no reason and told me I was an unintelligent customer who didn't understand the way enterprise operates!!! She spoke over me the whole time and then told me to call back and then hung up! worst customer service I have ever experienced. I will never rent with enterprise ever again! read more

I walked right in, no line, and was helped very efficiently. Upon return, I was running a bit behind and I had to return the car about an hour after was initially planned. Rented a small ugly car for approximately a week at about $58 a day plus $25 insurance and a $250 hold that we won't see for a week! Had full car but was STILL charged $25 a day! If I bring it back maybe an hour or three late they said they pro-rated it. I asked what that'll cost, thinking a few dollars per hour late ... Almost the cost of the rental per 24 hours! Yeah, I'll wait another 24 hours then. If they treated their customers better more people would be referred. Unfortunately was given a rental of a Toyota Camry with about 32,000 miles that smelled like a lifetime smoker used. Car was in need of a much deeper clean and some repairs. Once I spoke with someone they replaced and upgraded the car for my rental while my work was done. They where extremely friendly and apologetic made the exchange possible without extra charges. Pros they have a geico program with key collision in which they bring the car to you right away. No wait and just a swap of keys. Since i got the car on Friday and they closed Saturday before I got a hold of them I didn't exchange the car till today and then my car was actually all done so I didn't enjoy the better rental with the new car smell. read more

Made a reservation for noon for a midsize SUV and arrived at 12:30 to pick up the rental which was no where to be found and was told to go to Dunkins to get a coffee, and that it was "on its way, but needed to be cleaned" An hour later I found out it was actually at a repair shop, and the keys had been left somewhere else. They only had a tiny car to offer me, not suitable for what I needed and I could wait till they talked with another enterprise and see what's available. So I ended up an hour and a half late leaving for NY and had to get car elsewhere. Either rent a car at the airport which has more than 2 cars available or use another service.... read more

These guys were so good to us. I wound up being awake for 32 hours by the time I got to my hotel in Salem. I was supposed to get a rental car through Payless at the JFK airport (don't do business with them, trust me) who ultimately screwed men out of the reservation I had. I had to pay for the Greyhound for three people from JFK to Salem, absolutely ridiculous. My mom, brother and I were all together for this trip. She homeschooled us, so we got to travel a lot but had never been up to New England. We finally got them all knocked out because I was (thankfully) able to get this car from Enterprise. After all the fuss and stress of just at the start of my vacation, they were so helpful here. Everyone's attitudes were pleasant and they even gave us a ride back to the transportation portal after dropping off the car. They even upgraded me to a Nissan Altima! It was a beautiful car and if I ever travel to the area again, I will be renting through these guys again. read more

I was wrongfully charged on my debit card for the extra insurance which I declined. I have the email showing I declined the insurance but still have not been refunded and it's been going on 2 weeks. It's like pulling teeth to get a refund from these people even though they were in the wrong. Another thing about this place is NO ONE gets back to you. I have to keep calling and calling to get any answers even though they keep telling me that they will get back to me. I'm not sure I'd do business here again because of this. read more

While I haven't really shopped around, the salem Enterprise Rent-A-Car has always been my go-to place for car rentals. Their staff has always been friendly and knowledgeable and the prices are decent. The only thing that stinks is that they put a $250 hold over what you're paying until you return it. While I understand that if you're not buying their insurance... if you are, they shouldn't do that. Or at least a lesser amount. But other than that, I've enjoyed them. Easy transaction. read more

My son rented a car to drive to the D.C. area for his wedding. He was leaving from D. C., so his father and I planned to drive the car back to Salem, NH. When my son and I picked up the car, I went in to show my driver's license and be put on the contract. The sakesperson, who was busy engaging in a personal conversation, just waved me off and told us that I was all set. I questioned her again because I have always had to show my license. She again waived me off. Come to find out, I was not put on the contract and was unable to drive the car. My husband, who was put on the rental agreement had to drive the entire way home. We were exhausted from a full weekend of wedding activities, and it was really difficult for my husband to drive the entire trip by himself. What is even worse is the attitude of the Salem, NH agent when we called with our concerns. I was told that a manager would call me back that day. I did not get a call back. When I called the next day, the agent told me that the manager went home ill. It is understandable why the manager did not call, but I would expect that agent I spoke with would call to explain that the manager would call me when he returned. When I asked if we were going to get an apology, he told me that he already said he was sorry and that since we didn't rent the car he could no longer speak with me about the situation. The agent's tone was unmistakenly conescending. I did ask for the regional manager contact information and will discuss the situation with him. We are lucky that at least my husband's name was put on the rental agreement, or we would have been unable to drive the car back. We will not use the Salem office again. There are certainly more professional car rental optionss in the area. read more

When I asked about the insurance coverage while I was picking up the car, knowing that my car insurance and credit card covered liability and theft, etc., I received a wild series of events that included paying the daily rate while the car is in the shop for fantasy repairs, immediately paying my own deductible and then something about the claim quickly going to collections if I didn't pay up...? I was like: "Collections?!? What happened? Did I miss a letter?" I'm guessing a lot of their customers are scum bags...? I was just curious how much the insurance was, and the daily rate was more than 2x the car rental! The car was like $9.99/day (super cheap!) and the insurance was more than $20/day (super gross!) Also, the car definitely needed an alignment -- keeping it in 1 lane on the highway was the most challenging thing I've done in the past 5 years, and the interior was completely covered in stains. Passenger seats and even the driver's seat -- it looked like barnyard animals rented it before me, and possibly had sex in it..? Otherwise, the weekend rate was a deal. Don't get screwed on their insurance unless you have the worst luck ever and terrible coverage on your own car. read more

If this branch of Enterprise is an example of the overall service and communication that a customer receives when renting from them.......Then I suggest you look elsewhere! Right from the beginning I was forced to wait. A reservation was scheduled through my insurance company for a rental due to body work being done on my Vehicle.This repair service was taking place at a dealership/repair shop in close proximity to Enterprise. So I arranged a pickup for this rental when I dropped off my vehicle for repair there at the same time. We agreed that the rental would be ready at the dealership at 9:30 AM. I called Enterprise at about 9:50 AM when they never showed up on time. Enterprise explained to me that they would not have any rentals available until 11:00 AM the latest. They also left a message on my phone about this. Unfortunately, I was already at the place of repair expecting a rental as scheduled. So I got a ride by the service manager there at the repair shop directly to Enterprise, where I continued to wait another hour before I finally got a rental. I paid my deposit of $100. They apologized for the wait. My insurance company had given approval for a 3 day rental. When the repair shop told me that It might take another day.....The insurance company gave me a 1 day extension on the rental. Then I learned that I would not get my repaired vehicle back until the next day! So after waiting for my insurance company and the repair shop/dealership to battle it out to see who pays Enterprise for that extra day, Enterprise continues to hold my deposit, even though I dropped off the rental at the dealership as agreed upon by Enterprise. In fact, Enterprise never picked up the vehicle from the dealership until 3 days after I dropped it off! Anyway, after speaking several times to different representatives there at Enterprise about reimbursement of my deposit which by now was 6 days after I had dropped off the rental, I finally got the deposit hold back. Needless to say, I will not deal with Enterprise in the future and neither should anybody who wants a smooth transaction with quality service. read more

I needed a car for the coldest weekend of the year (my car had died on the ride home Friday) a couple of weeks ago. Since the other locations closest to my house were closed, I called the Salem NH office. I talked to Warren and he said they could help me out with a vehicle. I got a ride to the office and all the workers were friendly and willing to help. Since there were no cars available (it was almost closing time), I was offered a truck at a reduced rate. This saved my weekend and enabled me to get to work on Monday (my car was repaired by Monday afternoon). When I brought the truck back, I was even credited with an early return. To me, they (especially Warren) went out of their way to help me in a difficult situation showing more interest in helping me than trying to rent me a vehicle. I would 100% use them again. read more

Be careful of hidden " Insurance" coverage charges that are not even necessary if you have Insurance on your own vehicle. Got reimbursed for the rental from the insurance company of the woman who hit me, MINUS the insurance charges which were over $100 and not even needed. Spoke to the manager, who was less than helpful, and then never returned my call as he said he would. I feel like I was taken advantage of, Its bad enough to be involved in an accident and need a rental, but then to go and have charges " for my protection" added just doesnt seem fair. Lesson learned, I wont go there again...and if you do ...just be more careful than I was. read more

My insurance company works with Enterprise to provide a car as part of my insurance coverage. I was supposed to be given an "intermediate" sized car for which I would be paying the $1.37 or so over what USAA pays them. When I was contacted by Enterprise they told me I would be getting a Toyota Tercel. When I dropped my car off at Key Collision in Salem I could see another customer driving off in a Toyota. I could see a subcompact car (Versa), an older Malibu and some SUVs left as options. I was offered the Versa for my rental. I questioned Randy, the Enterprise rep about the Versa being considered an intermediate sized car, which he told me it was. Um, I don't think so. I checked the Enterprise site and it's listed as a compact. I declined it to be given the Malibu which has seen better days. I hate driving it and feel somewhat conned by Enterprise. I'll be reporting their effort to palm off a cheaper car to USAA. I just hope the Malibu lasts until I get my car back. read more
