So convenient, easy and fast! Alamo was easy to find in the airport by following all the signs. We got service right away, and each got a bottle of water for the car! Once out in the parking lot we were allowed to pick any car in the compact suv area, and ended up with a new Nissan Rouge. The car was clean and had more than we ever needed including GPS which was so helpful, heated seats and dual climate control. Drop off was even simpler. Picked up car no problems,no employee came out to inspect the car for damage,I did return in to counter to report marks on car they said they were minor not to worry.had car for 3 days I returned it asked the man and woman behind the desk to come out and check the car.they both refused and said I was alset I dropped of keys and was on my way home. 2-3 hours later a woman called claiming I made a small dent in the door (not the case) .she claims damage was not there before basically I returned car they drove and damaged it during cleaning ( so I found out from the car cleaner himself ) I would not trust this company does not check cars for damage then claims it to be you. Alamo rental car is a nice brand that gives the traveler & car renting public a good deal and value for their vehicle needs. I've come to know Alamo rental car through previous rentals at various locations throughout the United States of America and will continue to do so in the future. On a recent trip to Manchester Boston regional airport in mid October 2016, I had the opportunity to rent from Alamo rental car for 6 days. I used the car to drive to Maine, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, but not before an issue with the initial rental car in Maine had made me decide to return and exchange the rental car to a different location that was closer to my location at Mount Desert Island, ME to Alamo's Bangor, ME regional airport at the time of discovery of the issue, low tire pressure. That happened to me previously with Alamo before but at a different location. It freaked me out when it started say "low tire pressure", but I get it when the weather gets cold and it happens. Still, I think i made the right decision by returning it to the closest Alamo facility that's 1 hour away versus the original rental facility that's 4 1/2 hours away. I really don't want to be screwed on the road if something were to happen. The overall experience here at Alamo rental car at Manchester Boston regional airport was good. The service here was fairly fast and expedited. I was in and out on the road within 15 minutes and it was good. I was sure to ask for the toll pass, since I knew of the many toll roads within New England, especially in Maine and Massachusetts. The Alamo car rental company here in MHT regional airport is located directly across the main terminal, where the rental car counter and the garage where the fleet of vehicles are. I got a nice little deal off of Hotwire.com and booked this one about a month or so before arrival in Manchester, NH. The price points varies, depending on what classification of car you intend on renting. For me, I ended up getting a full size car. The car I got initially was a Jeep Compass. It drove pretty well, but ended up getting that low tire pressure deal, so I just swapped it out at Bangor, ME regional airport. At Bangor, I picked up a Toyota Camry, which proved to be the better choice overall. It drives way better and I enjoyed that ride better than the Jeep. I ended up getting the LDW car insurance, since I don't have private car insurance nor I will go through my credit card company, should something go wrong out there on the road. These extras cost at an average of $25/day. The service was alright at check out, the lady at the counter seemed like she didn't want to be there, but I know what's that like on a workday. After getting my rental agreement, the lady who was at the National booth greeted me and showed me the Jeep Compass. I'm conflicted as to why the low tire pressure thing happened twice in a row and at the same company, but different locations. While I know it can be a fluke thing and all related to weather, it's just. Bizarre and a coincidence. Oh well. While the car rental experience was nice and average, it's good to have a choice when it comes to renting cars no matter what you use it for. 3.5 stars for the overall experience. 3.5 stars for the Jeep Compass. 4.5 stars for the cheap deal I found online. The return process was null, since I returned the car at 4:30am, nobody was there to great me. So I returned the car keys in a Dropbox as well as the toll pass in another Dropbox. Pitiful. I prepaid my reservation with Hotwire.com . Apparently my prepaid rental vehicle was given to someone else a few minutes before I arrived with my family who were exhausted from traveling all day (young children and all). It took well over an hour for the representative to even figure out what had happened. The person they gave our vehicle to had the same first three letters of their last name as we do. Someone was l-a-z-y and did not take time to verify information. The representative who was helping me seemed very distracted and almost appeared high on drugs when she was speaking to me. Unless it was just her personality. The manager resolved the issue and we were finally on our way. The vehicle was fine and we had no issues. After returning home from our trip I noticed a charge on my credit card that was not our charge. The rental agreement number was not ours and the name on the agreement was not ours. And here is the kicker...the name on the rental agreement for this unknown charge was a completely different name than the individual who was given our-prepaid rental to! Oh and this person also had the same first three letters of their last name as I do! I had to call my credit card company any cancel my card and dispute the charge . I am beyond annoyed that people do not understand that renting a car is an important transaction involving a contract and credit cards. Clearly the employees at Alamo at the Manchester Airport do not understand the importance of attention to details. I will not use this company again. read more

Here is my eternal, unanswered question when it comes to car rental: What is the point of making a reservation for a particular class of car when inevitably, they NEVER actually have what you reserved? On a recent visit to Manchester, my husband and I reserved an economy car, not only because the rental itself is more affordable, but also because we wanted something that would get reasonable gas mileage. The "economy" car with which we were presented was a pickup truck. The employee informed us that it was the only car left (which I find suspiscious, because not 20 minutes before that he tried to sell us on an upgrade to a convertable). If it weren't 1 o'clock in the morning and I weren't exhausted and desperate to just get to the house, I would have fought harder on that point. The truck itself was fine, just not what we wanted or "reserved." It certainly irks me that poor planning on their part resulted in my having to spend more money on gas than I had planned. read more

Alamo has great prices, discounts are even better if you're with Discover, but don't rely on them if you have to make any sort of alteration to your reservation. Due to a canceled flight and changed dates, I called in to change my reservation times. All was wrapped up neatly with the new dates, including a price change because of the changed days. The representatives I spoke with over the phone were friendly and helpful. The issue came when I picked up the car. I had placed pick up for March 1st at 1AM, but according to the woman behind the counter, the computer read out that I was supposed to pick it up the 29th of February, the day my flight left. (Due to the weird hour (my flight arrived a little past midnight), I had the woman on the line when I changed my reservation read the date and time back to me to be sure. Everything checked out then.) According to the woman behind the counter though, this isn't an unusual occurrence for flights crossing over midnight though, so I truly think this is an issue within Alamo's reservation system (not human error) that needs to be addressed. I was also charged an additional fee, which I called to dispute. Somehow they could pull up the price of the old reservation, but could not pull up the newly quoted price on the changed reservation and would insist I had kept the car past the days I had reserved it AND THEN tell me I was getting a better deal with the extra charge. read more

I tend to believe that all car rental services are pretty much the same. I rent a cars twice weekly, and about once per month at MHT airport. I almost always choose my rental based strictly on price. However, I gotta say that I was impressed with the counter service provided by the Alamo clerk, Jacqueline. Yeah, she checked me in and gave me the usually spiel about renters insurance and fuel options (which I declined as usual). But she very engaging, interactive and actually had a conversation with me. She was the only girl working in a sea of young men, and so she automatically stood out. But I will remember her not because of her gender, but because of how awesome she was with delivering such a great customer experience. read more

I truly wish I could give 0 Stars! I travel 75% or my life for business and literally rent hundreds of rental cards per year. This Alamo is by far one of the worst experiences I have ever had. DO NOT RENT A VEHICLE FROM HERE. I waited 45 minutes for them to bring a car along with about a dozen other renters, some with families. When they finally brought a vehicle they had no organized queue so it was whoever ran to the car first got it. I reserved and paid for a standard size car and they gave me a Cruze, which is a Compact Car. I had my choice to take it or wait indefinitely for a Std size car, so I took it. They did NOT walk around with the car for an inspection. They apologized for the wait and gave me a free tank of gas. They sent me on my way. I did a walk around the car the next morning and noticed that there was some damage to the Right Side Rocker Panel. I noted it on the Inspection Sheet supplied with the rental agreement and went to my first appointment of the week. The car had an over whelming smell of perfume inside. I realized why a day or so later. Someone had smoked in the car and they tried to hide it by spraying perfume. After the car was subjected to a day of rainy weather it made the inside of the car smell like wet dog! When I returned the car to an Alamo location @ EWR they noticed that the car had the damage to the Right Hand Rocker Panel. I told them the car was like that when I picked it up and handed them the inspection sheet with the damage noted on it. They asked me to initial it, which I did, and took the sheet from me. The person even said: "good, then at least we don't have to pay for it Manchester does". Over 2 weeks later I received a rather curt VM from the Supposed Manager at the Manchester Alamo (Julie) stating that I had damaged the car and that they were forwarding the issue to the Damage Recovery Unit to get the money from me to repair the car. I tried to call Julie back 4x and was NEVER able to get anyone to answer the phone at the Manchester location. I left 3x VM's and had no returned call. The 4th time I tried to call the VM box was FULL and couldn't take any more VM's...Unbelievable. This is the way you provide customer service...Really?! You have other choices at MHT for car rentals. They may be a couple of $ more per day, but in the long run you will be saving yourself a lot of aggravation and time. read more

Unacceptable service from Alamo and lots of lessons learnt! My husband and I had an unique experience with Alamo at Manchester airport location. We got off the flight from Chicago to Manchester and picked up the car at 2:30pm on a Friday (today). We sign paperwork, get the car and drive away. When we stop at a coffee shop nearby, we realize that there is no car key inside the car!! This is the type of car that you only need the key fob near the car to start engine. We spend more than 3 frustrating hours on phone to reach out to Alamo and figure out what happened. It seems that Alamo staffs somehow dropped the key fob somewhere outside the car at the parking lot of the rental facility. The key was close to the car enough that we were able to ignite engine and drove thinking the key was inside the car. Once we turn it off, we would need the key to turn on again. After a long while, we finally were told that the key was found although they don't know if that key was of our car or not (oh dear, I though it was common sense to attach the rental car information with the key fob). After another few calls with insurance and road assistance, we got the car towed back to the airport (Alamo does not cover). Luckily the key belongs to our rented car and the vacation can start properly. In summary, lots of lessons learnt: - Do not assume that they would put the key INSIDE the rental car for you although it is quite standard procedure. - Expect to spend time with automatic machine before you can speak to a human being. - Be prepared to pay for their mistake (such as towing service) - Do not expect them to have car information on the key fob. This is very UN-professional. If they had information, we would have taken taxi to come back to the facility to get the key instead of towing the car back. Such a waste of money and time!! read more

I travel a LOT. And when I travel, I usually have a rental car. Well, I have to tell you, I have never, EVER had such an experience with a rental car company as the one I had in Manchester with Alamo. Between Tony, who held the door from the garage and took my bag to my car, to Erika, who made sure that the bluetooth system was set up for me, I have NEVER had such amazing, personal customer service from a rental car company. Tony let me choose between two vehicles, and when the one I picked didn't have a bluetooth option (really? in 2016?), I was given an upgrade to a minivan (which turned out to be a blessing for my use on the trip). I had no issues with this car rental experience at Alamo in the Manchester Airport location. They are located on site- check in was fast and efficient. No hard sell to try to get you to buy coverage or prepaid gas. They did not have my class of car available so I was given a free upgrade. The car ran great had only 12000 miles on it. The price was great-$24 a day plus taxes and fees- totaled $35 a day- but not the fault of the agency. The return process was flawless- in and out. I recommend- based on my excellent experience. But as any one who rents a car can tell you- any one variable in a chain of rental car requirements can screw up the entire experience- so be mindful. read more

I rented a car from here over Thanksgiving, and it was fine. My only complaint was in my treatment compared to the people immediately behind me. I reserved an economy. When I got outside, I was told they had none, and the guy said "we're owned by the same people as Enterprise, so I'll go get one there!" Okay, that's fine. Then a family walks up behind me and says to the other attendant that they reserved an economy. She tells them they are out of economy cars but she can give them a midsize or full size car, and walks them down the aisle to select one. They were gone before my guy came back, in a very beaten up brown compact with a hubcap partially sticking off of the rim, a couple of dings, and some major stains inside. He was cheerful; I was annoyed. It was freezing outside, so I took the car and left. The end. read more

Well, I'd planned a good review. The price was the best I found after much searching online. The car was 2014 and fairly clean when I picked it up. It ran great and was easy to drive and got good mileage-to-the-gallon. The only issue I have with this experience is that despite my having turned the car (I cleaned it from the previous renter and returned it clean.) filled with gas an hour and a half ahead of the due time, Alamo charged me another full day. I called to find out why I was given another day's rental fee and was told that they assumed the car was not returned on time. The photo I submitted shows the staff in the booth, who accepted the car and the key. The representative who took my call said that it would take ten days to have that additional charge removed from my card. It only took a few days. Glad I checked my bank statement. So, I recommend the company and suggest that customers make sure thay aren't charged for an extra day. read more

Good. I'll keep renting from them. I have rented from Alamo twice already, at Manchester Airport. Tip: sign up for membership, then take advanctage of the advance check-in to bypass the rental counter. That will save you a lot of time and make your rental experience more pleasant. Background info: I have been a Hertz Club Gold member forever. What I really liked about Hertz was that a car was waiting for me when I landed, and I was out of there in a jiffy. But other rental companies consistently beat Hetz' prices, so I started trying out their competitors. My opinion... Hertz is still tops for getting you on the road quickly. But I'll take the savings and keep renting from Alamo. The only disadvantage with Alamo is the extra 5-10 min you spend at the gate, waiting for the agent to finish up the paperwork, even if you have already prechecked, and your driver license is already on file, and your credit card is already on file. This is just indicative that their automation is still a bit behind the times. read more

I was very pleased with our experience at Manchester Airport Alamo! As a matter of fact, so happy with the service that I made sure I got the reps name. Adam came out and greeted us before we even got to the Alamo booth! He was friendly, provided some great input and info on the area, and patient (my reservation I made through Costco Travel said to go to the kiosk and I assumed that was the lot, but in fact it was back in the airport) - so I left my husband with Adam and headed back to the kiosk. Adam was able to give me information about a particular highway I was planning to take to Vermont that proved very valuable for this California girl trying to choose the "best route to see the leaves" in unfamiliar territory! Additionally, when we mentioned we wanted "good lobster" but didn't want to drive to Maine, he was able to confirm a restaurant that was recommended and went as far as verifying another option from his experience. He could have easily just dismissed us, but instead, he looked at my directions and even suggested a better/more direct way to get to the restaurant! He also went to college in Vermont where we were headed and provided some places to see and eat at there! Above and beyond in my opinion, which is why I'll continue to rent from Alamo whenever possible! One other point about Alamo in general, this was a one way rental and Alamo's cost and vehicle selection by far outshined the competition!!! Thanks Alamo! read more

They had great prices, however very poor customer service. more than that hey are not flexible at all. I rented a car for 2 days ($19/day) total came out $62 which was not bad.I had an emergency I couldn't return the car on time. I called them before the return time to request an extra day. The lady that I talked to was not helpful at all. I asked to talked to a manager she was worse. I was charged "$57 for an extra day" what a rip-off ! only $5 less than what I paid for both days. read more

Arrived at 11:00 PM had a prepaid and preregistered reservation.....not sure why I still had to wait in line. Luckily, there was an efficient man at the counter. He just went through my paperwork, confirmed my license, printed my documents and sent me off to the parking garage. The return was awesome!! Young lady even took my bag out of the trunk while I was gathering my belonings inside the car. I don't think she even took 3 minutes to get me on my way!! Very expedient!! The only reason the rating is not five stars is that there were no cars available when we arrived and we had to wait a while with many other people until returned cars were driven up. (Nearby Enterprise had many cars sitting with no line of customers waiting, so I asked by Alamo couldn't use some of those of its parent company and was told they were all reserved--which puzzled me since all of us waiting also had reservations.) I used Alamo's pre-pay service to book and pay for my rental. I then used their "skip the counter" check in service. All of this took place 13 days in advance of my need. Two days before my rental, I received a "friendly reminder" and I was told that my rate had increased by $0.82 (yes, less than $1.00). When I arrived to get my rental, I joked with the counter attendant that I should have not used the "skip the counter" check in service. He wanted my credit card and I asked if I could just give him the $0.82. I was told no. He then told me my full-size car was incorrect and that I was only getting an mid-size car. When I produced the paperwork, he told me it was wrong and that I had rented a mid-size car. I said fine and he then proceeded to charge me an extra $55.00. When I argued with him, he got frustrated and said "Just go get the car". I did and when I went to leave the lot, the gate attendant required my credit card and driver's license. I provided it and she attempted to charge me an extra $50 (not $55). I argued with her and told her that "Joe" said to "just go" and get the car. She called "Joe" and then told me to "just go ahead and have a nice trip". Upon return (I was 1 hour and 1 minute later than originally planned) I was charged for 2 hours of "extra" usage and billed an additional $79.52 above my pre-pay rate. Of this amount, $23.14 was for the "two hours" I was late - I don't have a problem with that. But I guess I was going to pay the $55 regardless whether I wanted to or not. To date, I have not had an explanation given to me as to the "upcharge" nor do I care to have one now. Let's just say - THIS COMPANY IS VERY SHADY and I WILL NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN. read more
