Its independently owned, and the owners were pretty easy to work with. They're professional and courteous, and their rental rates are fairly affordable. A compact car rental rate was about half the price of the big-namers, and on top of that - they don't tack on the extra charge if you happen to be under 25 years old like the larger companies do - which is a huge factor in cost if you're under 25 and in a bind to rent a car. The biggest difference aside from that is you'll probably see is that the cars are 1 - 2 yrs old and they dont offer unlimited miles.

All was going well and I returned the car to the Minneapolis St Paul airport as stated on my rental return by following the traffic signs for rental car return at the airport. Later that day I received an invoice from Dollar stating I'd been charged a total of $147 - or an excess of $60 from what was agreed upon!! Countless calls and hours were then spent on the phone with "customer service" (what service???) and unmet promises to have a supervisor call me back resulted in no resolutions. They even hung up on me 3 times! The line to the supervisor rang for 10 minutes before someone picked up and hung up the line. Truly awful! Now I'm out $60 plus valuable time. Please do yourself a favor and don't rent from here. A few more dollars spent with a reputable company will save you money and hours of time in the long run.

I've had issues at other Alamo locations in the past, so the company is never my first choice, but they often pop up as a provider of cheap prepaid rentals (Hotwire). No problems in DSM and a great value purchased this way. All DSM rental car companies are conveniently located by the baggage claim.

This is now the SECOND TIME we have rented a vehicle from this location and then been accused of causing damage that was already on the vehicle when we received it. This time, we have photos documenting the damage during our possession of the vehicle and showing that it was pre-existing, yet we are still being told that we are responsible for paying for it. Instead of reviewing the documentation objectively and trying to resolve the issue, the staff has been incredibly rude, dismissive, and difficult to deal with. Once could potentially be a mistake. Twice feels like a pattern. What is especially concerning is that even when a customer has taken the precaution of documenting the vehicle's condition, this location is apparently still willing to pursue that customer for damage they dispute causing. At that point, what exactly is a renter supposed to do to protect themselves? The way this has been handled has been so unnecessarily hostile that it genuinely feels personal rather than like a legitimate attempt to determine when the damage occurred. My advice: DO NOT RENT FROM THIS ALAMO LOCATION. If you do, photograph and video absolutely EVERYTHING before you leave the lot, every scratch, dent, wheel, bumper, windshield, and panel -- and make sure the condition is documented with an employee before driving away.
