Very disappointing experience. Shortly after calling and leaving a message for Jake, I received a call back on one of the phone numbers I left. I talked at length with him about our issue (bat removal), and we set an appointment for Jake to come out between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM two days later. Jake had my address and two phone numbers at which to reach me. On appointment day, I was at home at 5:45 PM. AT 8:10 PM, Jake had neither shown up not called. I called him and got his voice mail. I asked him to call me the next day to reschedule and again left my phone numbers. To date, I have heard nothing from him. No explanation. No apology. Nothing. Highly unprofessional conduct in my opinion. I will be calling a competitor and will not be recommending his company to anyone. read more

Not certain how this firm stays in business. Tried to contact them via the web page, and had no response. Called to set an appointment for an inspection, and was told "yeah, we've had some problems with that email account." Got the appointment set, and Jake came out for the inspection. All seemed good. We approved the estimate, and were told he would be back later in the same evening or early the next day. We had a vacation planned, and he asked that we have the repair supplies set out. He did not show up that evening, so we left, leaving instructions with our house sitter and neighbors. He did not show up. When we returned from vacation and found nothing had been done, we walked around and found additional damage at the original spot and an additional nest of wasps in a different location. I called. I was told "well, I expected my technician to go out there." That was the first I'd heard of someone else coming to do the work. "Well, we'll get to you first thing tomorrow morning -- around seven." So, I woke up early this Saturday morning and made certain we were ready. 7:00 came and went. I called and left a message about 7:30. It's now 8:30, and we still haven't heard anything. read more

Jake gets it done. We had EnviroCritter out last summer to take care of an elusive intruder. Raccoon! She was too clever for us and would not be caught but Jake repaired the entry points she ripped out of our soffits and things were fine for a while. But she came back, with friends. I called Jake as soon as I heard the ruckus and he came out the very next day to extract the varmints and patch up the damage. They had done a number on our house this time. Multiple entry points and pieces of our soffiting torn away from the house. He spent hours making repairs and by the time he was done, it was as good as new. I called multiple places around Denver regarding a bat issue I was having and Jake was the only decent, honest and reasonably priced company I found. I found bat guano and a bat under my dryer in my basement. Turns out they were getting in through my chimney. One company came out and quoted me $1600 for a bat exclusion, Jake did the same exact job for $499. He did not use scare tactics to get me to pay more, instead he educated me and gained my trust. Had a critter chittering in my chimney. I saw that there were some rather large piles of poo on the roof near the chimney. I didn't quite feel like opening up the fireplace screen and flu to investigate so I called Envirocritter and Jake said he could come by in about 1 hour. He told me it would be $199 to get the critter out and scare it away....more to trap it. I really didn't like the idea of paying that much for a few minutes of work, but still didn't feel like trying something myself. Thanks to another (AL) review site that indicated prices paid, I could see that the price was relatively reasonable....relative for the industry I guess....so I agreed. He was prompt, friendly and effective. Scared one racoon out as I watched from outside. Then he checked with a camera to find that a younger one was still in the flu, and apparently could not crawl up and escape. So Jake gabbed him from the fireplace/flu and brought him outside. (Hopefully to be reunited with the apparent parent who had been scared away. Hopefully not wanting to go back on my roof??) Jake also left me with some screening wire mesh so I can make a chimney cap. He mentioned it isn't proper if burning in the chimney. My recommendation is that you get a chimney cap if you use the fireplace or put some wire mesh over it if you don't. Better to keep critters out in the first place than to have to scare em out after being scared by strange noises in the night. read more

Our church recently found that it had a critter problem. There was a colony of squirrels living in the attic. I was tasked with getting estimates and hiring someone. I asked one of the ladies in my office to call around and schedule three companies to come out. This is a fairly standard procedure for us. When she called me back she informed that even though she did call two other outfits she felt that Enviro was the one to go with. This was a first! She's never expressed any sort of bias for any company before. I had to ask why she felt this way. She said it was something about him. First time in six years so how could I say no? I met with Jake at the church. I must admit I was just a little disappointed when he stepped out of his truck and didn't have a halo and glowing aura. That was my only disappointment. He couldn't stop talking about his great reviews on social media going on and on about himself. We set up a time for Friday afternoon, well, of course he never showed and never called with an excuse, just nothing. I took off work early to meet with him and ya,, a no show. Envirocritter and the owner jake are full of lies and unreliable. They never would come out on days as promised, as well as spilled oil all across my deck that never came out. The owner jake said he is not responsible for this. He guaranteed my skunk problem would be taken care of, yet there back. No one from envirocritter will even call me back. On top of all this the worker used one of my bathrooms and never flushed resulting in my whole house smelling like a manure farm. I found Jake on Angie's List, and he is AMAZING!! I had 4 (FOUR) HUGE raccoons trying to move into my house last May. They were also scratching at my fascia, to try to get in there! I put in several bids, and one company came back with a RIDICULOUS estimate, trying to scare me with, "you may have squirrels and raccoons living in your attic!" The estimate? $9000! Jake came in, told me there was NOTHING in my attic, did tell me I had a FAMILY of 'coons living in my chimney, and then proceeded to take care of the job. He removed the raccoons with his trusty side-kick doggie (he's cute! and a worker!), and I have had NO problems since. He also installed a chimney cap, and cut down some tree limbs around the house that were aiding and abetting the critters to munch at my abode. And the best part? The price. I got all of this for less than $1500! MUCH lower price than what any of the other companies offered. Jake is a one-man show, and he's got a lot of business, but if you want great work at a good price, please call him! Oh, Jake was also a trainer with a bunch of these other companies, so you are getting the same EXACT service with him, but at a MUCH lower price. He's great!!! read more

Jake was friendly, knowledgeable, and very forthcoming about his services / charges in advance. Showed up on time (with his super cute pup Piper to boot) and did a very thorough analysis of our house...inside and out. Turns out the raccoon/skunk we thought we had inside the house was actually just accessing the baseboard under the siding (I learned that sound can travel far!) -- he gave us some great tips on how to block them from accessing this sheltered area ourselves (also offered to do it, but told us we can easily do it for a lot cheaper) and gave us the peace of mind that our house (foundation/cellar/roof/attic) was secure from access by any animals. Also offered that if we DID encounter any other animals in the future that he would knock off what we paid for this consultation from any charges. I would NOT hire EnviroCritter again! EnviroCritter is really a one-man band - a guy named Jake, who at first seems knowledgeable and personable. We hired him for two projects. The first was rodent control. We paid him a lot of money for this one, with mixed results. Communication and service on this one was acceptable, but with occasional unexplained "missing in action" lapses (a harbinger of things to come). He told us he could also eliminate woodpecker issues so, with a bit of misgiving, we subsequently hired him for this job, too. What a travesty. He showed up one time and installed some traps. He said he would be back regularly to check and replace them until the critter issue was resolved. NEVER heard from him again. Over the past two months, have left him numerous voicemails and sent several texts. Finally asked him to at least come back and retrieve his unsightly traps. NO response of any kind. Upon looking at other YELP reviews, there seems to be a distinct pattern of this behavior, with several reviewers having had this very same experience with Jake. I seldom write reviews, but am leaving this one to help spare others the experience we have had. Kudos to Jake for his timeliness, honesty, and expertise! I found a small squirrel in my bedroom while vacuuming earlier today. I found him via Yelp and called him while fully expecting to leave a voicemail given it was a Sunday. To my surprise, he answered my call, gave me a timeline of an hour and half, and quote too( very reasonable!). Jake also said he might be able to come earlier and would call to update. He did just that; he was here within an hour and had said squirrel in a cage within five minutes for the exact price he quoted. We were referred to Jake at EnviroCritter by another company because we thought we had a bat problem. Jake returned my call promptly the same day. He took the information and reassured me based on my description of the problem that he did not think it was a bat problem but he would be happy to come out and assess the problem. He came out the next day as promised and called us back to let us know it wasn't an animal problem at all. He did not charge us for the call either. In today's world it is not often you find someone that is that responsive and professional as Jake. When I called EnviroCritter and spoke to Jake, I gave him the run down on the skunk problem we had going on under our shed in the backyard. I explained that we wouldn't need any damage repair or prevention for future issues because we were going to tear down that shed the next weekend. Because of this, Jake was willing to negotiate pricing and he came out that afternoon. None of the other businesses I talked to were willing to do this. I hired EnviroCritter to help me get rid of squirrels in my attic. Aaron came over and was very friendly and strangely enthusiastic about about his job. They quoted me a fair price and I hired him to do the job. I was concerned about the welfare of the squirrels. I didn't want them hurt, I just don't want them in my house. Aaron assured me that the most cruelty free way to rid my home of squirrels was to install a one way door, so they could get out safely, but not get back in. On the day of the installation, Aaron was really backed up with another job, so he called to reschedule for a couple days later, which was fine with me, but he gave me a $20.00 discount just because he couldn't make it at the specified date. I've never had a company offer that before and it was really appreciated although not expected or necessary. Anyway, the one way door was in for about a week and Aaron came and removed the door and repaired the hole. I am very satisfied with the service and "customer service" that I received.
