We had a surprisingly good time at Envy while on our girls trip to Galveston! Keep in mind, this isn't going to be at the level of a major city's club scene. We walked by it on a Friday evening around 10. When we went inside, there weren't many people yet, but within the next hour, it filled up quickly! I think the DJ realized that the dance floor was mainly millennial women and started playing music catering to them, which was awesome. We danced the night away and drinks were only $5 with free cover until 11pm for ladies. My bar tab for the night was only $25. That's the price of one drink at a nightclub in Austin! Let me start by saying I'm from out of state (live near LA) and frequent LA, Orange County and Las Vegas nightclubs. If you're looking for a posh, upscale, swanky lounge.... this isn't it. It's in the heart of the downtown area of Galveston, but probably should've been off the beaten path! We read reviews on Bliss Lounge and thought it would be a great place to try. Before you walk in you see a sign "dress code strictly enforced," I thought, great as I was dressed up for the night, including heels. I quickly had my bubble bursted by the many flip flops, vans, tennis shoes, and even bare feet inside! We laughed... hard. People in what looked like pajamas, jean shorts, hoodies, etc. THERE IS NO DRESS CODE!!!! You look up as you walk up the stairs and see a chandelier you'd find in a swanky place, but the decor inside doesn't match. It appears to be a cowboy type bar (flooring, the way the dance floor is corralled in and the overall ambiance) with a lounge name and fixtures for the sophisticated. Upon fully entering, the place seemed roomy enough. A dance floor and bar area to accommodate plenty of people, but for a Saturday night, the place wasn't even half full. We attempted to sit at one table, the chair was very unsteady. Kept wobbling. We eventually moved to another table. That table was also unsteady. So we were two for two at this point. The bartenders were attentive, but don't tend to tables. You must go to the bar to order. Drinks tasted very watered down. I had a Rum and coke and could literally taste zero Rum. We also had a Gin and Tonic that tasted only like the lime that was squeezed into it. The drinks were cheap, around 6 bucks a piece. We typically pay anywhere from double to triple that. The crowd inside was mixed, that was a welcoming vibe. From the young college kids to us wiser aged folks. I only saw one police officer inside the whole night keeping security. However, it was a chill and laid back vibe, didn't appear to need his services. The DJ was awful! I mean bad. Could not mix music. You could hear three and four songs overlapping, terrible transitions, and repeatedly not letting songs play long enough before mixing! I love Spanish music, he allowed one song to play about two minutes and that was it. Most of the music was rap, hip hop, and pop. Some was old, Cupid Shuffle old! Anyway, we made the best of it and stayed about two hours because there were really no other places to go. I think it's fair to say, we wouldn't be back! read more

Went in for the first time on st Patty's night...free cover on Saturday; I got there about 930. Great music but the songs were on repeat within the 30 minutes I was thee. Definitely a younger crowd. Got a lemon vodka with sprite $7.50 and I was done in less than 5 sips...so, this won't be my scene but it's s great scene for 35 on down. Party on people! read more

Spent a Saturday night on the Strand and it started off discouraging but then we found this place! The bouncer was a cool funny guy! He really made a good first impression. Girls got in free and guys paid $5 cover which wasn't bad. This place was really fun. DJ was playing good music and throwbacks which my group really enjoyed. It was dark in here but the red lights made up for it also giving it awesome vibes. The drinks were pretty strong and not that expensive! I'd definitely come back to this spot. read more

Bliss is probably my favorite club in Galveston. The energy is amazing and its a great place to let loose and dance. Drinks are strong and the bartenders are on it. We came here on Sunday afternoon and first thing that we noticed was the drinks and food specials, there is nothing better than walking into a bar with a party ambiance and still manage to have food. Our bartender was kind and very informative, had small talk since we were the only customers in the joint. She explained how busy and fun it was during mardi gras and after that my only regret was that I was not here for Mardi Gras. Had a good time NYE 2017. Got there around 9:30pm. Didnt cost much to get in. No line. No crazy ego driven bouncers either. Was able to find seats without paying for the reserved ones. Crowd ranged from 21yrs-65yrs. No lie!! Lol! Probably cuz the atmosphere was chill and mature...thats how i like it. Drinks wasnt too water'd down. 3stars because the DJ did good but lots of 90's hits...Good thing we like 90's music. The playlist he had from 9:30-11 started all over again after the countdown. Yes! I don't know how long it will last because Galveston night clubs come and go but I definitely enjoyed myself here. I arrived around 11pm on a Saturday and was given a wristband so I assume this place is 18 and up. There was no entry fee. I also didnt see anyone in there who looked younger than 25. The ages ranged from 25-50ish. I walked straight to the bar and ordered a watermelon martini "$5.25" ummmmm maybe I misunderstood her, she had to have said $9.25 right?! Wrong, I paid $5.25 for a very delicious watermelon martini in the year of our Lord 2015! I was expecting the usual "downtown Galveston club" music but was pleasantly surprised when I heard a mix of some of the latest and greatest hip hop tunes as well. "Watch me whip....now watch me Nae Nae" *jigs* There were plenty of seats despite the crowd. I'm not too sure how they are making their money with no cover and low drink prices but kudos to them for providing me with a great night out! I will be returning! read more

Horrible. My friend and I wanted to try out this lounge on a Friday night just to see what it was about, and because we are 20 they had to mark our hands which is understandable. The bouncer marked us with an asterisk and then someone else came outside and literally blacked out the top of both of our hands ( with out telling us what he was going to do ) and we walked inside the club and he literally followed us into the club and stayed posted 15 feet away. Also I'd like to point out that they give 21 + wrist bands anyways so this behavior was very off putting and we ended up leaving immediately because it just wasn't a comfortable situation, they would not refund our $10 even though we were probably only inside for 2 minutes. All I want to make clear here is that if you are going to allow underage people into your facility you should definitely ask permission before literally blacking the back of their hands. Might as well just make the whole club 21+ if that is how you want to run your club. Or atleast refund the money someone pays if they aren't interested in what you have going on. read more

Walking in it smelled really clean which is awesome cause usually bars located in areas like this don't really smell clean. They were only open when I went from 10am-7pm on Sunday but they do have some pretty good specials on Sunday and happy hour. The drink I had was pretty good though. But from my understanding they are packed from Thursday-Saturday with DJ and its looks really cool to dance and have a good time in. It wasn't a bad place to be until I took a drink out of my beer and took a drank it had green and brown slime it was the most disgusting thing I have ever in my 30 years of life ever had to experience. I told the manager he didn't apologize or care just walked around the bar and refunded me. But the money doesn't matter when you have to go the hospital on your vacation. Dump.... Jim beam and Coke, how hard is that apparently off the cuff. Coke was flat 1st go round plus tasted soapey, 2nd drink same problem. Perhaps the equipment is dirty. We reserved a table for out bride's bachelorette party and we're greeted by the manager Kimberly, she took us to our table tucked away in a private area that was perfect for us. We were were able to leave our purses and have a blast on the dance floor the bar was easy to get to and there was a variety of music playing all night. The bride & all of us had a BLAST. The drinks are cheap and good. I liked the dj but I felt bad because hardly anyone was there. We were there for about an hour and we watched people come and go. My group of friends really want to enjoy this place. It has great: music, dance floor, drinks, and "general" atmospher. However, we dislike it for one reason. Okay, maybe two reasons. The first and foremost reason, The bouncer. I have seen this bouncer make other ladies cry (literally crying their eyes out because of the way he treated them, while still allowing them in), denying very good looking men for being in shorts ( which almost goes in to reason #2-they charge for guys to get in), and he told my friend she would choke on his small dick. I believe that as a business they should remain professional at all times, even more so being a place where people go to drink, have a great time and dance! If the other bars and clubs can understand their clients I expect the same from Bliss.
