I have been to a few nail techs who take hours to do nail art. I drove from Pflugerville to come and get my nails done my Leo after I saw his work on instagram @LeoNailsDesign. Leo was quick to respond to my request for a nail appointment. When I got here the place was clean and you could tell the employees take pride in their work. They also were laughing and enjoying themselves. I didn't quite know what to get on my nails but I showed Leo a few pictures and let him come up with a design and they came out beautiful. It took about an hour and a half for my nails and about another hour for my pedicure. They were quick and efficient. I have been to nail techs that take 3-4 hours for nail art so I can appreciate the efficiency in Leo's work. Leo also took great pride in his work and wanted to make my nails perfect. My pedicure was just as good. I got the deluxe organic pedicure and it was amazing! I appreciate their sanitary conditions for pedicures and they opened the nail kit right in front of me. avoid at all costs... This is by far the worst manicure I've ever had. I had an appointment at 10, when the stores opened. At five after 10, they finally open their doors, and everybody was running around trying to get a set up. They start at my manicure at 10:15, my nails were not prepped properly, and then so quickly they applied the four coats. The polish they used was old, so the technician poured thinner into it to the bottle, to try to make it work. it came out clumpy, and bubbly. When I told the technician I didn't think that's how it should look, she simply said... That's what you chose. it is supposed to look like that. I chose A glittery polish, not a lumpy one. The whole process took approximately 30 minutes, not nearly enough time to do a proper manicure. They also charge me more than the website indicated for a manicure. definitely not an establishment I will revisit. read more

Wow I really hate to leave a bad review but my last experience was really awful. I went in to get one nail fixed. I knew I needed a fill but I was really short on time. I told the gentleman I wasn't able to get the fill so obviously I was waisting his time. In between shoving my hand under the gel dryer he was more concerned with looking his phone. When I pulled my hand out the new nail was crooked and really sharp on one end. I told him I wasn't happy with the shape he started yelling at me that I should have told him before ( how could I he was on his phone the whole time) He said this in a really aggressive manner. Which of course made me feel on defense as well. I told him I wasn't paying. So here is the deal I have been going to Envy for months now and I have been sitting in other nail techs chairs and I have witnessed this particular gentleman yell at other customers. Always feeling uncomfortable listening to this guy yell at people and no one doing anything. I called after and spoke to Leo and he just pretty much didn't seam to care. I have been in this industry for 10 years this is not how you treat clients. I will definitely be contacting TDLR. I absolutely hated my experience!! As you can see they half ass painted my tiny ass toes. They are not kid friendly at all so get a babysitter. They made a point to tell my son to turn his phone down but the environment was still very loud. READ!!!! My appointments have been with Leo and he does really nice work however I have noticed that a nail will fall off, break or a gem would be missing. Mind you this would always happen within less than a week. Not only that but Leo would make passes at me and I couldn't tell if he was doing it jokingly or just doing it to flatter me so I could give him a bigger tip. New to Austin and needed a refill before my friend's birthday weekend. After a bit of searching hashtags, I came across Tha's profile. In his bio, it says to contact him via text for appointments. I text him inquiring about appointment availability for a friend and I. He responded within 10 mins with times for the service. I was very detailed in my message about what my friend and I wanted (a stiletto full set and a coffin ombré powder refill). When we arrived, we were asked to sign our names in and wait. Tha had a customer and informed my friend and I that he would be running behind. Our appointments were scheduled for 11a and 12p. He started my friend around 11:30a. I don't have a problem waiting on good service so the wait doesn't affect the star quality (TO ME). It was my friend's first time getting acrylics, and he took his time. He explained to her at the outset the best options between powder, gel and regular polish on her stiletto set. Upon wrapping up on her, she was beyond pleased with the service. She got a red polish and it looked great. He then started on me. I am a NAIL OBSESSOR. So I sat down and said I want a blue ombré for this weekend. He comes back with a powder and says try turquoise it's better on the eyes. I trust him on it and let me say Tha did his THING. The shape IS immaculate. (You gotta see the pics). He was fast but didn't rush me for an after client. I would most definitely come back if I wasn't leaving ATX. I paid $50 and walked out feeling BRAND NEW. The overall vibe of the shop was a little busy for my taste. I prefer a more intimate setting but like I said Tha's service is the 5 star here. I had heard such good things. My best friend and I decided to make an appointment to try it out, she made it for us. When we arrived, they sat us at completely different rows despite making the appointment for two together. My technician didn't talk to me, which is actually my preference as far as small talk, but I'd like him to actually talk to me about my nails and what I want. I only spoke with the receptionist about it. At one point I asked him to trim them shorter, which he trimmed the length he felt right and moved on. My nails ultimately didn't come out too bad at all. There was some roughness from trimming the tips on two, which the receptionist files for me, but the biggest issue I had was that my whole set was pretty darn far from my cuticle. Already looking like I was going to need a fill if I was lucky in a week. I figured maybe things had changed since my last manicure as it had been a while, I know a lot of nail tech has changed in the last year or so. Inspecting my nails further once we'd left, I noticed the tips weren't secured to my thumbs well at all. In fact, it looked like I had a nail on top of the other and also makes for a lovely food catcher. The pedicure was average, nothing terrible or amazing. They only spoke to my friend who made the appointment outside of asking for water or wine to drink and then promptly forgot my drink. They gave me the pedicure she asked for and didn't bother to ask my preference, which was ultimately fine as we wanted the same. My friend had the hardest time with hers being too thin, popping off or just simply breaking. Needless to say, we won't be going back. read more

Update: After only four days, one nail FLEW OFF (dipping powder plus tip) when I zipped up my bag. This really should not happen unless the work is subpar. When I went back to have it repaired, the receptionist was rude about trying to match the color. I only came back here with the hope they could match the color. They couldn't, so I left. Might as well go elsewhere for better service. This place is outrageous. They charge $5 for a normal round shape. I've never been charged extra for round at any of the many places I've been to. With so many other options, this place is nothing special. Go somewhere else with reasonable pricing. This place is a ripoff. Also, nearly every time I had a gel manicure, I had to remind them to use sanitized tools instead of whatever was in their bag from the previous customer. Gross and dangerous. read more

I should have listened to the bad reviews, but I was lazy and this is the closest shop to my house so I thought I'd give them a shot. Do I want pictures of my bloody toe on the internet? I do not, but I'm trying to spare others from having the same experience. I knew it was a bad sign when the nail tech said it was his first week on the job, but we were already halfway into the pedicure so I didn't feel I could ask for someone else. He was nice, but he cut my toe and I couldn't wear sandals for a week. It defied the entire purpose of getting a pedicure. I also had to cancel swimming in the river with my friends that weekend because I did not want it to get infected. He was apologetic, which I appreciated, but that didn't fix the injury. If I could give this zero stars I would. Please give ANY OTHER NAIL SALON in Austin your money. The poor female owner is married to a very aggressive man who I had the unfortunate privilege of getting my nails done from. So where do I begin. First off, I came here because multiple people recommended it, and I live in the neighborhood so I thought why not go get my nails done and relax on a Tuesday night. HAH! That was wishful thinking. I called ahead to try to make an appt because I go to diff nail salons all over town and generally an appt is preferred so I dont have to wait. She said no wait and to come right in. It should also be said I've gone to nail salons ALL over town because I am particular about cleanliness, service and quality and haven't found a place I love yet however, this place makes every other location I've visited a million times better than Envy could ever be. So I show up and am told to wait, which is fine, I would prefer not to wait since I tired to make an appt and call ahead but whatever. I get paired with a sweet younger guy, who at first, I was unsure of his technique but he listened to me and we had some genuinely friendly chatter. The pedicure wasn't the best I've ever gotten, but it was a good attempt but manicure time is generally where I either will fall in love or hate a business. I was yet again brought to a waiting area to "dry my toes" but really that's industry lingo for "we're busy and need you to wait". So I waited..10 min. And then the owners husband approached me. From our first interaction he rubbed me the wrong way. Had a "barking" demeanor about him, telling me to sit in a chair then changed his mind 2 seconds later. I was hoping he wasn't going to be doing my nails, but alas, this was my fate. For reference I get SNS done to my nails, ever 2-3 weeks. It's supposed to be one of the more cleanly ways to get your nails "painted" but it can also be the most damaging. I've seen techniques to remove the powder range from soaking nails in acetone to filing it straight to the nail with an electric filer. Obviously the latter is extremely dangerous for your nails and cuticles, so when the owners husband began to aggressively go to town with the filer i was mortified. I should have stopped and stood up but he was pretty aggressive. On top of that, he was constantly staring at the front desk, any time anyone would walk in his attention would deviate, and a man with your nails under an electric filer without his eyes on your nail is a scary scenario. I contemplated getting up at that moment and I wish I would have. This whole time I'm talking to myself wondering is he the owner, is he the GM, I only come to find out later he's the owners husband and GM. So naturally I was intimidated to say anything to him at the time because of how aggressive he was behaving with me and he was just filing my nails. The whole nail service was subpar, nail filings EVERYWHERE. No care for sanitation, tables aren't wiped down after each service, using old unsanitized filers and utensils. Again I've been to salons where for every service they bring out new unused cleaner and sanitized utensils. NOT HERE. RED FLAG! I also kept thinking, please let this turn positive, so many friends and recommended it and it's close to my house so fingers crossed. Well now I know my friends are blind and dumb because no experience here is even remotely passable. So on top of the near decapitation of my nails he asks how I want them filed. I said almond, he said they're too short, I said I know but I get them done with a little point/sharpness on the end, he scoffs and says it cant be done. I insist and he aggressively grabs my pinky nail and shapes it EXACTLY HOW I WANT IT. And I go 'yeah that's great' and so he aggressively grabs the rest of my nails and proceeds to do a piss poor job of shaping my nails. He's yet again distracted the whole time, rushing the service, I get it, they're a popular (IDK WHY!) business and people are coming in and they're about to close, but PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR CURRENT CUSTOMER IN YOUR CHAIR WHO IS PAYING YOU RIGHT THEN IN THAT MOMENT. So that again ticked me off, his lack of respect for the client. And now that I know he's the GM, it is inexcusable how he treated me. Literally down right disgusting facility and behavior. I mention that he could have done a better job cleaning up the nails, he said he did and scoffed at me again. Paints them with clear regular polish as a top coat (WHICH AGAIN I GET SNS DONE AND THAT IS NOT A PROPER TOP COAT FOR SNS) and sends me to the chair to dry. So punch line, I tried to leave and not pay bc I didnt want to deal with this man and give my money to this business. He chased me. Called security. And I agreed to pay bc I'm a GOOD HUMAN. But as I'm leaving, THE SECURITY GUARD SAID THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME AND I DID THE RIGHT THING! DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! I feel bad for the wife. read more

This place is awful, and BEWARE! I've had terrible experiences here, but my mother-in-law's experience was the worst. During a pedicure, the deeply cut her toe. It wasn't just a small nick, it was a deep cut. It bled profusely, and they said they couldn't paint the toe because it was bleeding so badly. Then they PUT SUPER GLUE ON THE CUT. They cleaned her up, and she avoids confrontation, so she just paid and left. The very next day, she was on a walk, and the cut started to bleed profusely again. She doesn't have any sort of bleeding condition, this was just a huge cut. Don't risk it. Don't go. This isn't personal-- its simply a PSA. read more

FINALLY! A clean, comfortable, affordable east side nail salon. And I almost don't want to tell you about how awesome it is at the risk of them one day being too busy for walk-ins! After years of seeing Great Nails for my bi-weekly mani/pedi, I had to promise myself never to go back. At least the last 5 consecutive times that I had left feeling disappointed- the techs were rushed and rough with the parts of the pedi that should be relaxing, and the polish jobs looked closer and closer to what I can accomplish on myself at home. The place was always slammed, every time someone would try to pressure me into shellac (which I love- but found their methods to be damaging to my nails and quite painful), and after a while even my toe polish was chipping in only a couple of days. When I noticed a new nail salon had opened nearby I couldn't wait to try it- and I am so thankful I did! It was a Thursday evening and the place was calm and clean and I was immediately seated at a pedicure station. The chairs and bowls are the nicest I'd ever seen in a mid-range nail spa and they had a wonderful selection of polish (including OPI and Essie). Everyone who worked there was incredibly accommodating, my tech (Elena?) was fun to talk to and very thorough and detailed- and her massage was awesome! I decided to go for shellac and the manicurist worked on me while at the pedi chair- which I normally don't like because I feel like it's harder for them to do a good job- but my nails are perfect and I felt totally comfortable the whole time. I tend to have commitment issues with nail salons because I tend to change it up every time I go and some salons don't have a whole lot of options. This place has tons of options and although my job doesn't allow me to have those long coffin nails that is the trend nowadays, I still always walk out feeling fabulous. Whether you want basic white tips or instagram famous nails, this place can deliver. Follow tha_the.truth on instragram and you'll understand what i'm talking about. I pay $35 for basic fill and gel color but there are other special options like chrome or foil that is a little extra- These are super fun!! From the moment I walked in, horrible experience. Starting with the owner who huffed because another customer was walking in @ 4:30pm A 30min wait, no biggie, but when three other people walk in after me get seated ...it gets noticed. I understand you have your regulars, but when they randomly walk in like I did you still treat everyone equally.(no they didn't have appointments scheduled already.) An hour later I get waited on...One of the guys did my nails and not only did I tell him, I want coffin shape and a fill, but just slightly trim them. He completely cut my real nails off and did his own thing "square round" and then claimed I never told him what I wanted. When I told him" no, I asked for coffin" he then tried to correct it and now I have nubby nails that can't be corrected in to coffin bc they are now too short. I hate them. Wish my experience had been as good as some others. I stopped here for the first time today for a shellac manicure. The salon itself is weirdly set up with the check in desk near the back so I walked in not knowing where to go. I was greeted quickly enough and then told to pick out a gel color. I really wasn't wowed by their color selection but settled on a sparkly baby blue. The girl who did my manicure did an awful job. Her hands shook while applying the gel and I could almost immediately tell I was not going to get a good result. My nails look like I did them myself. So disappointing. When checking out, I think the girl could tell I wasn't happy so she said to me "the color turned out exactly like the swatch." Well my issue wasn't the color, it was the terrible paint job. Within 10 minutes of leaving the salon, two corners on my fingers were already lifting. It's now just a few hours later and I have already peeled the shellac off. What a waste of 30 bucks. read more
