I stopped by here the other day with my dad, we got clams oreganata and i got the fruta di mare. Bread: oddly enough this was my favorite, they give you a decent olive bread and some fluffy italian bread, very tasty. Clams oregata: they were ok, not the best i had and not the worst. Fruta di mare: again, this was only ok. The shrimps were pretty big which was good, calamari was cooked ok. But the sauce itself wasn't all that, there wasn't much flavor to it. It was pretty boring. After seeing an ad for this place my husband worried me to death until we tried it today. Well, he and I were immensely disappointed at the outcome of our meals. For appetizers I ordered a Caesar salad and he ordered clams oreganato. We both enjoyed our appetizers. He ordered a glass of wine and I ordered a pomegranate martini which was watery and without flavor. For entrée, he ordered chicken parmigiana which was too thin and fried too hard and was salty. I ordered penne à la vodka and it was trash; very watery and without any seasonings and flavor. In fact, it was so bad I didn't even try to eat it. I don't know how this place got four stars when chicken parmigiana is their signature dish and it was so awful. The upside is the staff are very nice and attentive and the ambiance is nice. Part 2 After a fulfilling meal of Veal Martini ($30) at Enzo's of Williamsbridge, this is the second part of the review consisting the to go order I took home: the Chicken Scarpariello on the bone, with the sausage, cherry peppers and potatoes option, along with ziti and red sauce; and the Double Cut Pork Chop with the cherry peppers and linguine with olive oil and garlic. I also took home a side order of escarole, sauteed in olive oil and garlic, and grated Parmesan on the side. The Chicken Scarpariello ($37 w/option ) is great and quite filling. The Chicken is coming from the thighs as best I can determine and is chopped up with a few bones that can be handled with a knife and fork. I would definitely order this always on the bone for flavor. You have the boneless option, but go with the bone. The cherry hot peppers add a definitive kick, above Fra Diavolo level, but nothing anyone cannot handle. The sausage was overcooked, but the potatoes were spot on. The red sauce, ziti and Parmesan calmed the moderate heat down if anyone is concerned. The escarole was a good accompaniment, but the spice level overwhelmed the wine with this dish. By the way, I can now confirm this $48 Montepulciano is of the Sangiovese varietal from Montepulciano D.O.C. The Chicken Scarpariello with the added option is also a more fulfilling meal than the Veal Martini and I can understand why it is a leading dish on the menu at Enzo's. I find it to be equally good too, so no downgrade in the rating. It highlights the consistency of the dishes served by the kitchen with steady chefs over the years. Marcello, my server, told no lies. The Double Cut Pork Chop ($33) was a bit more satisfying and delicious. It's thick, about two inches or more thick. They trimmed most of the fat, but left enough for added flavor. Notice the darkened color of the fat trim that has been seared and caramelized. Yum! The thick chop is cooked all the way through, but it's not tough or challenging to cut. It's still juicy and somewhat tender inside, with the added juice and flavor of the sauce. Over the escarole and pasta with garlic and dusted with Parmesan for that pop, your palate is in for a most satisfying experience. The Double Cut Pork Chop is one of those dishes that will keep people coming to Enzo's. It also paired better with the wine, given the heat from the hot cherry peppers was less pronounced and not overwhelming for the relatively low tannin and low acidity wine. I have had Sangiovese that drink a lot bigger and don't even mention the Brunellos. Enzo's of Williamsbridge is not overcharging in my opinion. They could have increased prices more on account of inflation, but they have not. Their loyal patrons would balk of they did. The dishes on the menu generally range from the high twenties to high thirties for generous servings. Wines by the bottle are reasonably priced and I can see why one would take your family here or take someone on a date here with the quality and value proposition served up consistently since 1998. Enzo's is a go to restaurant for many loyal patrons. I would and will return easily and can give Enzo's high marks. Just seat me inside the main dining room next time please. 4.0 very solid and consistent stars! read more

I've had three dinners here so far and I absolutely love their food. The food here has such great flavor and tastes fresh all the time. I have tried the chicken martini, chicken Parmesan with penne vodka sauce and penne vodka with grilled chicken. The portions are generous so make sure you go there hungry! The service is outstanding. My favorite Italian restaurant in the area. They're serving up some classic flavors with decent portions. I really enjoy all the pastas here as well as the meat entrees. Service is a bit slow but it wasn't too much an issue. A nice place to come to with your family! I like getting the chicken parm and either a simple spaghetti and meatball, or seafood pasta option here. The calamari is also nice. There are two main seating areas, one where they built an extension and another which is their main dining hall. I prefer the extension since it's more quiet there. Okay this was a pleasant surprise! Came here for my fathers 60th birthday and it did not disappoint. Well there were 25 of us and some had mixed reviews but I can only speak for the 4 people in my party and our dishes. We sat in the covered extended portion of the restaurant which was cute and adequate for our party. Although apparently there was some confusion about splitting checks that the host was told different things by different people. Seems to be some confusion in the service department. And although of server was subpar and left a lot to be desired, the busboy was magnificent and attentive. To the food...we had the clams, veal martini, Chilean sea bass, shrimp dish and veal dish. Sorry couldn't remember the last two names. My veal martini was a 10/10!! Delicious, tender and so flavorful. I was in love and so sad when the last bite came although it was a good portion. My husband has the Chilean sea bass that left his very particular tastebuds, so very happy. All he could say for the rest of the day was how amazing it was. My kids has a veal and sausage dish and a shrimp dish in white wine sauce. They both devoured it! The friend calamari was done well too and the bread was actually pretty amazing. Super packed on a Saturday evening but we were able to secure a reservation. When being seated we were sat outdoors and we had asked to be seated inside. We were accommodated after a couple of minutes. I was a bit annoyed but that all changed once we ordered and the food came out. To start they brought over fresh bread, butter and oil. We started with the calamari and it was really good. Fried perfectly and the sauce had a nice kick to it. For entrees we ordered the shrimp parm with side of penne vodka, penne vodka with grilled chicken and lamb chops. The shrimp parm was the highlight of the evening. It did not disappoint. Vodka sauce had great flavor and chicken was seasoned well. The lamb chops was really good but my only issue was the porosities. It was more like chips and was hoping for actual potatoes. I have to admit that as I sat in traffic on I-95 on the way from Connecticut to Enzo's I questioned my brother's wisdom in insisting it was worth the drive for a special family meal. But as it turns out he was completely right! The restaurant is nestled in a nice area of the Bronx not far from Arthur Avenue. Who knew there were so many trees? Parking is readily available for a fee on Williamsbridge Road or for free on the side streets. The dining room is very open and inviting. Although the Saturday night crowd was a little loud, we had plenty of room. For starters the bread, both regular and olive, was nice and fresh. One of the member of the party ordered the baked polenta as an appetizer. The canellini beans took it up a notch. For my main course, I opted for the Veal Pizzaiola. A pure delight! It was tender filets of veal with a marinara sauce augmented by onions and mushrooms. I've never had that dish but would absolutely order it again. Of course, after trying my girlfriend's Veal Alla Fiore, I want that next time as well. The sauce was lush consisting of cherry peppers, onions, tomatoes, portobello mushrooms and white wine. That was incredibly tasty. The rest of our party was enamored with their meals as well. After such a fine meal, we could not pass on dessert, and we chose the tartufo. Been here many times and the parking can be tough. There is only street parking available. The joint is basically traditional Italian...and they don't disappoint. They have much to choose from and the wait staff are kind and attentive. I/We have always ordered the cold Italian antipasto and the hot Italian antipasto trays. There's always plenty and it's a great way to start off your meal...especially if Italian is the way you're going that evening. Our last visit we had an assortment of dishes and in particular...the baked gnocchi dish and the chicken scarpariello were excellent! We ordered a couple Italian garden salads and they were done "family style"...along with a dish of zuppa di pesce and a dish of veal piccata (though I wish there was a bit more veal in the dish). Everything was prepared perfectly and tasted delicious. We had a few espressos with some cannoli and tiramisu for dessert and that was that. The second time I came I tried their carbonara, which was quite watery and bland. The bits and pieces of the "meat" they had in there just didn't taste fresh. I felt that all of the food that day wasn't fresh. Maybe they were having an off day, but I wouldn't come back here. I think the Arthur Ave location is a bit better. The waiters were nice enough as otherwise I'd probably rate this spot lower.
