Decent rental gear, prices are a bit high. But the guy helping us (two adults and two kids) seemed disinterested in making sure we had good fits. He dropped the boots off in front of the kids, didn't help fit them on, and we had to ask him to come back over (twice), when boots didn't fit. Mind you we were here mid April, the only people in the shop. A good fitting boot is crucial to a good day on the mountain, and his disinterest was palpable. A great place to visit for ski equipment in Winter! I was having a fitting problem with new boots that I bought elsewhere. Ryan did his expert boot thing for me, analyzing the problem, using a machine to measure my arch, choosing the right insert, heating it and molding it to my foot, adding a thin resin base, taking out the manufacturing insert and placing the new one. What a huge difference in the fit and comfort of the ski boots. I could dance in them! It made a huge difference in my skiing as well. Ryan explained that the insert from the factory is just for the sale of the boot. I always had trouble sliding my foot in, sometimes taking 15 minutes....after the insert, my foot was in in 2 seconds! I also had better control when I skied. I think it's worth it to have your boots fitted here. It cost me about $59. What they do, though, is customize it to you. Tell them what you need and they will work on a solution. I have recommended this to other skiers, and I think Epic Mountain Sports will have more customers. This is a small local family business on the first floor of the same building where you find "The Ditch". They rent and sell equipment, hats, helmets , goggles and clothing. They are friendly. I felt like I walked away with lots of tips about the area and tips about skiing! read more

This is the place for rental ski equipment! Amazing customer service! I own my own skis however I was out skiing at WP with my father-in-law who had not skied in a few years and recently got his hip replaced. Prior to our trip my father-in-law had actually reserved rental skis through another business in town however I was less than pleased with the gear and the level of knowledge and service at that other ski rental business so I recommended we drive into town to check out a few other places. When we arrived at Epic we were greeted and helped out by Ricardo, as well a very nice young lady whose name escapes me(I apologize as they were both exceptional). I am an avid skier and I used to work in the retail ski industry when I was in HS and college so I know more than the average customer walking in off the street. I knew immediately Ricardo knew what he was talking about and touched on all of the import things when sizing skis and fitting boots for my father-in-law. Ricardo spent a good amount of time fitting several pairs of boots. He told us that if after skiing the first day the boots or skis do not feel right we can come and exchange them for something different. To the Epic owner/management you have a VERY good asset/employee in Ricardo. Also, if you enjoy seeing some old school skis Epic has a bunch of awesome skis from the 70's, 80's and 90's hanging up from the ceiling, it really brought back some great memories seeing some of those old school skis. Almost like a little mini ski museum, totally unexpected but awesome to see. read more

Small local shop. We rented here twice last year. Didn't rent this year as we bought gear instead. They were courteous and friendly. We came in both times with big groups and they were pretty efficient with getting everyone fitted and out the door. The only downfall, which isn't their fault, is they are not at the base. If you ever come to Colorado to go skiing or snow boarding and need to make some rentals this is the place to go. I actually came across this place by accident, and noticed the bright green sign saying Epic Mountain Sports. When I came in they were very friendly and inviting, and asked me if I've ever skied before. Make sure you explain your level of experience and exactly what you're looking for. They'll do the rest, and figure out your bindings and levels. I actually saw they had a coupon from Yelp, and was able to provide it in the store. We've been to four different rental areas, this is by far the cheapest, without straining the quality of service or product. Multiple different levels of snowboards and skis to rent, so you have a lot to choose from. When I tried them on, they let me know if it doesn't work and the skis were too fast I could come in and get shorter ones since it was my first time skiing. I did end up coming back and they were happy to help, Katie being very friendly and gave some tips as well! After that I've been enjoying my ski trip and I've been able to practice my turns easily with the shorter skis. And the coupon I used was SkiWP, but I believe you need to show them it from the Yelp page. Awesome people wish I could've met the family! I'll definitely be coming back and I've recommended this place to everyone traveling to Colorado that I know of. read more

Weasel warning! Charged us for the gold package (no other option - supposed to be new skis). They provided us with used skis and charged us $50 for damage when we returned them. They told us "too bad, you should have bought the insurance at $6/day and we wouldn't be having this conversation." Very dissatisfied, will not be back. read more

We rented one child size snow bib, three adult sized snow pants, and one child sized pair of goggles for $75. They were fantastic! Kept us all warm and dry while snowshoeing at the Y for 2 hours. Worth every penny. Plus they are really nice and make you feel welcome. read more

I've been coming to Winter Park every winter and always get my gear from these folks. I've seen them react to a busload of us coming to them all at once, and they even stayed late before for us to help when we were in a time-crunch. They couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. From giving tips on the local slopes, to other slopes closer to our home, and even tips about local transportation... I continue to be impressed each time I visit. I also love playing with Willow and her sister (their very shy doggies). It's a great group of people with great prices and gear. My nephew rented skis there for 3 days. After the 2nd day he couldn't ski the 3rd day. Took them back in that afternoon. Epic refused to give any money back for the 3rd day. While he was in there another ski renter came in to return skis. Epic wanted to charge him for the skis as the top of the skis were scratched up. Will not ever do business there again. I bought a family of 4 ski rental package and I was fitted wrong. Boots hurt so bad I couldn't even ski the next day and they would now allow me return with a refund. They wouldn't let push out a rental day for recovery. I even asked I could just give my kids my rental ski day paid in exchange. They would not work with us. Therefore my husband and I lost a day of paid rentals. Honestly, do not go here unless you want to risk getting fitted wrong. Didn't even explain how to put on gear. It was bad customer service. Rent from Winter Park because they give you excellent service and make sure everything fits right. Don't waste your time here - it's out of the way and the boots are not as good. Not recommending to family or friends... don't have time to deal with nonsense on a family vacation. Wasted money. Disappointing. read more

Epic fail. People working here are miserable. Rude. Unfriendly. Unhelpful. If you don't want to work there get a different job. But to treat customers as every single employee did today was awful. I was going to go to Christy's and tried Epic for the first and last time. Greeted by a grunt and iPad shoved in my face. The sign in software failed and had code showing with error message. Cool. When returning the skis I had to spell my name three times. My name is 6 letters mind you. Management get it together use good software and either lead or hire better but do something or you will lose every customer to Christy's Sports. read more

I hate writing negative reviews, especially locally owned businesses. They were very friendly and helpful for my family of five with the original fitting and rental. The only negative was we had to exchange a few bindings because they smelled so bad. As for the return it was much different. We were charged 40.00 for a set of skis having scratches on them. I was told they were not there before. Unless snow causes scratches I don't get it. I was told (with a little attitude) we should had read some laminated sheet they had. Well, no one told us that. Are we supposed to go searching for something we are supposed to read we don't even know about? Those scratches were not from us (my skis)...period. I wish I would've asked for some kind of proof they were not scratched. I don't care about the 40.00, just the way it was handled. Again, I hate writing negative things. They were overall good people and I wouldn't discourage people from renting from them. Just take pictures of your ski equipment and read the mysterious laminated rules sheet. read more

Epic was recommended to me by a local when I mentioned I wanted to get some ski boots. I can see why the locals go here for their own ski equipment. The staff was extremely knowledgeable about each type of ski boot based on what type of skier you are and how your foot is shaped. I also got $100 off on a very nice pair of ski boots. And let me tell you, the next day was the best ski day of my life! I also got a really cool jacket and hat. The owner was super nice and helpful as well.
