Was recommended to stop by this shop due to my son's snowboard binding ladder had broken. It was crowded, since they are not letting people into the store to browse and had us at the door. The people working there are great and were able to fix the binding and get a hot wax ready by 8AM the next morning. The next day, another ladder broke and they replaced it again. Powder Tools Board shop was a wonderful place to get a board demo!! Im in the market for a new board and wanted to try out some of the new ones. The whole team was extremely helpful! They listened to my riding style and what I wanted then helped me pick out a few boards that I might like. They even gave some suggestions for how to set up the board and bindings to get the best ride. Thank you to the team for everything! We popped in here for my husband to demo a couple boards. He tried a Never Summer and a YES. Standard board. They allow you to demo and apply the price of the demo to the purchase. After our first day on the mountain, we returned to switch out his board, and also get bindings and boots for my daughter. (She tried the Burton Step On and wasn't a fan, yet my husband took the plunge and went with them.) Mike helped us with boots and bindings for her. He was GREAT! Very knowledgeable and patient. She's 13 and has a larger ladies foot so it took a few tries. Nathan also helped us out on that trip with her boots and bindings. VERY friendly and super helpful. Your recommendation of Pepe's Fish Tacos was SPOT ON (see other review. On our second night, we returned yet again to return the second demo board and make a purchase. Cam assisted us and was also SUPER helpful and friendly. Overall. Great experience. They are an affiliate of Christy's so the Christy's coupons worked here. This is by far the best rental place in Winter Park. The prices are great and you don't have to make a reservation in advanced which is a miracle for my boyfriend and I. We've used their services twice and have loved them both times. They're snowboards are incredible and always feel super smooth going down the mountain. I like the fact that they have more up to date shoes as I've never been a fan of the laced snowboard shoes. They also have nice quality clothes that you can buy if you decide you want to be more fashionable or feel a bit cooler riding the slopes. Unfortunately, they are expensive so it's best to wait until March to really buy any kind of snowboarding clothes or snowboard equipment. However I did buy a cool and comfortable beanie which I love! So they do have other things that are priced reasonably for you. They're also located in a nice plaza that has a ski shop underneath for you to rent out some equipment if you'd prefer to ski instead. They also have plenty of restaurants and at night, the main plaza lights up beautifully to the point where it looks romantic. I highly recommend coming here if you haven't. read more

This is by far the best place to go for snowboarding equipment. My husband and I got into town this past weekend and thought that the rentals were a little high at the base of the mountain. We looked up other places, and found this. It was not only more affordable, but the people were so nice! Chelsea answered all my questions and helped me through the process since it was my first time snowboarding. She recommended the perfect board for me and my husband. The return process was also easy. The bus from the mountain takes you right out front and is free to ride. I'd highly recommend going here if you're looking to go snowboarding or have any questions about it. My binding broke and every other store in town didn't have the parts to help. So I tried Powder Tools and though they didn't have the exact part either Chelsea went above and beyond by fixing the broken binding using spare parts from other old bindings. If it wasn't for Chelsea at Powder Tools my trip would have ended early. read more

This is a great snowboard shop. They carry the major brands and have a very cool selection of clothes and hard goods. My daughter needed a new pair of snowboard boots as I forgot hers during our trip to Winter Park. Powder Tools not only had a sale going on, but they had a number of possibilities. Chels was an excellent salesperson and I can't say enough good things about her. She was personable and knowledgeable and found us exactly what we needed. Both my daughter and I are snowboard instructors and we were impressed. This is about as good as shop as one could find anywhere. read more

My experience here was kind of ehhhh. It wasn't horrendous but it wasn't good. They have a lot of stuff but that's about it. Went to demo/rent some boots. Staff was unhelpful and relatively dismissive; borderline douchie. I got what I needed but not much else. Looks like they have a good rental selection but you have to book ahead to get a decent deal. Outside of that, do yourself a favor and go across the street to Divide (or Epic if you need ski stuff.) read more

So far, I've been coming here for about 7 seasons and they always take care of me. I have a family of 5 and always get our boards tuned and waxed before our first day. Our edges are always sharpened, and the bases are cleaned and waxed. They can do a base grind if needed, and repair deep gouges in the base as well. Recently, Amy set up two of my clan with demo boards after she breifly interviewed them regarding their abilities and riding styles. She picked out two boards and set up their bindings, explaining to them as she made some slight changes to their stance. Those two improved so much that next day! I had a hard time beleiving that the board could make that much difference so quickly. When I went to the store to return the boards I mentioned the improvement, Bruce came out of the back, put pencil to paper and made me a deal I couldn't pass up. 2 new boards came home with me that evening! One more point on Amy...I am a gear geek, and she totally impressed me with her knowledge of all the various tech incorporated into the boards they carry... and they have a great selection in the store! It was her ability to pick the right board for the specific rider that made that deal possible. And that is what I have come to expect from this store over the past few seasons, employees that know how the different boards feel and ride. So often in shops you get some goober head that hasn't taken the time to learn the product. ...and they appreciate quality ale. read more

I could not be happier with my experience at PowderTools! Everyone went above and beyond to make sure I was happy and accommodated. I originally came in a week ago with the expectation of purchasing boots and starting to demo boards. While they didn't have any boots in stock for my size, they immediately started looking at other locations to have some options shipped to the WP store for me to try. I was in the store almost every night trading out boards and not did I feel like an inconvenience. Once I finally came to decision on a board, boots and bindings, the guy who had been working with me came in on his day off to make sure I got completely set up with my new gear!!
