This place is a must-visit for lunch, and for good reason. They're not called "Epic Tacos" for nothing--their tacos are simply amazing. Juicy and flavorful, they're a treat for the taste buds. Today, I was fortunate enough to dine with a team of all-women cooks, and I must say, their culinary skills were on full display. Now, I know some of you might be wondering about the all-women staff. Well, let me assure you, it doesn't affect the quality of the food. The staff is attentive and friendly, and they go above and beyond to ensure that you have a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant itself is clean and well-maintained, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. It's a great place to relax and enjoy a delicious meal with friends or family.

First time trying this location Birria tacos are delicious and the salsas have a great spicy.

First time here. I got the special 3 birria tacos with condoms, also got me some chips and salsa and they are delicious.

Stopped in today to try the Tacos. Friendly staff. I ended up ordering 3 Carne Asada Street tacos and a Baja Fish Taco. I have to say I really enjoyed the tacos. The carne Asada was flavorful and the fresh salsas were outstanding. Just the right heat and smokeyness. The fish taco was flavorful and was seasoned just right. The fish was fresh, but it was a bit more chewy than I expected. Still good though. I'll definitely be back.

Instead of sitting in rush hour traffic on the 118 Freeway, I decided to enjoy my Taco Tuesday by swinging into Epic Tacos for some incredibly delicious bites! Epic Tacos, a family owned business try at also has a mobile truck, welcomed me with some friendly faces and a warm, casual, but authentic Mexican setting in Simi Valley. The $2 Street Tacos were the source of my sudden traffic detour, with Chicken, Al Pastor and Carnitas being the object of my obsession. The woman at the counter was super friendly and nice, making sure that the small, yet completely full, restaurant of hungry patrons was taken care of. Within a few minutes of ordering a pair of each version, I made my way to some of the bar seating and waited for my food to be made. Within 5 minutes, my delicious tacos were delivered and immediately looked mouth-watering. The Al Pastor was delicious. A little heat to bring out those authentic flavors was spot on. The pineapple triangle added a nice sweet addition to the mix. The Carnitas were simply outstanding. Very tender and juicy, there were not enough bites for me to enjoy. Finally, the Chicken was also very good. Tender, a nice mild seasoning, the small, chopped pieces were good to the last bite. All Street Tacos were double wrapped in delicious corn tortillas, served up with some very tasty red and green salsas along with the basic onions and cilantro. Each bite as quite good and for only $2 (regularly $2.75 each), it packed a nice bang for the buck during the week. The restaurant interior was bright and clean, while the single, gender neutral bathroom was extremely clean and well stocked. Plenty of parking out front in a retail strip mall setting. Epic Tacos offers some amazing eats and friendly service in the heart of Simi Valley. Check out their brick and mortar storefront or catch their truck out and about in surrounding areas - they truly are...epic.

"8oz" extra meat weighing in at 6.5 oz WITH the container.

We really wanted to keep Epic Taco in our regular rotation because the flavors are genuinely good. The food itself is tasty and well-prepared, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, the prices are very high, and recent experiences have made it impossible to justify continuing to order from here. The final straw was the $6 extra meat add-on, which is advertised as 8 oz. We weighed it at home and it came in at 6.5 oz with the container and only 5.6 oz without it. That is a significant difference and, frankly, feels like false advertising, especially at these prices. My husband carefully measures all of the food he eats, so this isn't a guess or a casual estimate, it's a verified shortfall. In addition, we ordered the food and it was ready 15 mins before they said it would be. This would be great if I didn't live 10 minutes away. This sadly led to soggy food. When you're already paying a premium, accuracy and honesty matter. Being shorted on portion sizes while being charged top dollar is unfair and leaves a bad taste, no matter how good the food itself is. Because of the high prices and misleading portion claims, we won't be returning, which is a shame because the food really is good. If the pricing matched the portions, or the portions matched what's advertised, this would be a different review. Sadly, as it stands, we can't recommend it or continue ordering.

The food is always delicious so I always dig in before I can even take a picture.

Let me begin by saying that I only like to eat authentic Mexican food! Their food is delicious! I love their birria lunch special that comes with a drink. I come hungry and leave full and happy. Their customer service is amazing as well. They bring the food right to your table. They play really good music, it's very clean and so is their restroom. I say this because everybody needs to wash their hands before they eat. Anywho, come check them out. You won't be disappointed. P.S. If you have ever been helped by Diana, you know her service is truly amazing. Thank you Epic!

The food here is gross. No idea why anyone would think serving this inedible burnt rice was a good idea. Will not return or recommend.

My dogs who also love Epic Tacos in Simi Valley

We have followed them for years, since we used to live in the Valley and went to Granada Hills for the Friday night food trucks, where they were always there and the lines were always long. Luckily, they opened their restaurant in Simi Valley, in our neighborhood. We love their tacos. My husband's favorite is the pork belly, mine are the potato tacos, and my daughter's are the birria tacos. The chips are homemade, and they give free refills on horchata. The owners are usually there, and they are very nice. Today we were spoiled with free dessert--fresh churros--and extra chicken for our doggy. Highly recommended, the best tacos in Simi.

The young cashier at the register immediately sprang to duty when we walked in. He greeted us and offered to answer any questions we had about the established menu items, or the daily specials. His friendliness was probably the best part of the visit. The dining room is clean and bright; not really decorated in any particular style, which is too laissez faire for my taste. In thinking about why I didn't enjoy it more, I reflect on Snapper Jack's Taco Shack in T.O., for an example of what an inviting, fun atmosphere can be. Urban Taco's ambiance is bland, very vanilla. The food turned out to be only okay. We didn't know how big the tacos would be, or if anything came on the side. After we ordered one taco apiece, the cashier suggested that most people got for at least two tacos, as they aren't that large. I decided to order a gyro for us to split, as it was more than double the price of a taco, so I figured it would be more substantial. My salmon taco with mango salsa was just so-so. The salmon was dried out and didn't have much flavor to add to the mix. The gyro which DH and I split was more satisfying, taste-wise. The cucumber sauce upped the flavor profile. The meat, while tasty, and tender, was lacking in quantity. Unlike the aforementioned Snapper Jack's, which offers either a side of rice & beans, or a handful of chips, plus a generous salsa bar with accompaniments as part of each order, Urban Taco just gives you a taco, or a gyro. No sides at all. That was disappointing. A few chips and some salsa would have been appropriate. I wasn't interested in any of their beverage options to purchase, so we went with complimentary water flavored with lemon and cucumber. Overall, not the best value in town. Not "expensive", but for only the listed items and no sides, lacking in satisfaction. I don't think we'll be rushing back.

Neon lights, cute signage, and overall they just did a really great job with the design and execution. There's a lot going on but it doesn't feel cheap. Ambiance is definitely A+. For dinner on a weeknight we found this spot wasn't too busy but we also came after happy hour. It was a relaxed vibe. Service was overall pretty good. I felt like all of the gals working were very very sweet and nice. Also, anytime we stopped them to ask for refills and such we got what we asked for. That's my only upgrade as since it wasn't super busy, it would have been nice for the staff to catch the refills on water or salsa on their own/more proactively but hey, it was again a relaxed lowkey night and the staff couldn't have been lovelier. I'm just curious how the service would be if they were super busy? Now on to the food and drinks. The menu was very impressive! Solid cocktail and drinks menu. I'm bummed I didn't get a cocktail but my party doesn't drink so it was more fun to get an agua Fresca with them. The guava one was good and served nicely chilled. However, next time I'll definitely get a cocktail because their drinks looked fun and beautiful. The food was definitely the standout for me. I ordered the cheese enchiladas Suizas and they were a 10/10. Not comparable to most enchiladas I've had but the sauce was fantastic and unique. I really loved these enchiladas and I'd honestly get them again. Solid flavor in the rice and beans as well. My friends also enjoyed their meal and it seemed like everyone was happy. The pricing is a little steep for Mexican food but also the ambiance and presentation make sense to me why it'd be a little more. For the three of us the bill was over $100. And that's for three mains and three non-alcoholic drinks. Normally at $33-ish a person I'd hope for at least a beer with my enchiladas, so keep that in mind. As a special occasion place or a spot to celebrate this spot is truly fantastic. I honestly loved my meal so much that even with the price point I'd rush back and bring more friends because this spot is vibey. Nice staff and a cute spot to diner, 5 stars in my books given the quality, taste of the food and the overall experience.

I also saw they had a taco flight. I knew I had to try those as well. I wanted to try all the different meat options to find the flavors I like. The Birria taco was my favorite flavor. Some of the meats were a little dry. I wish they had a little more flavor to them. They gave me two different salsas to add and that helped. But I would definitely like to see the flavors of the tacos improve. I always crave sushi. That was a must try for me. I thought I would try the fiesta mariachi roll for the first trip here. It was delicious. I'm craving more! I think next time I will have to try some of the other sushi options since this one was so good. Also since they basically have flights for everything.....
