EPIC WINGS @ SDSU As a student on meal plan, i've been to this spot a couple times and it's always been good vibes. Wings are hot and delicious, but they do take a while to bring the order out. The place itself is extremely welcoming and great ambiance. There are TV monitors everywhere, a bar area, and even outside patio. I've always gotten the wings, the lemon pepper is one of my favorites! Today I decided to get their chicken rice bowl which was really good, it was just too heavy on their sauce, but would recommend. Their fries looked uncooked and so unseasoned (attached photo) it was pretty hard to eat. Hopefully they've improved. Overall, I'd come back! If you're on meal plan, i'd definitely try this spot out! Some of the best fried chicken you can get in the area (I'm from the south so CA chicken is never as good as the south but this place is one of the better ones!). Their Epic Fries are....frankly epic. It was ambitious of me to order these and not intend to share them but I did it anyway. I had to take home 3/4 of them and ate them over the course of two days. So much food, and I love that they soak it in sauce. Fried chicken, after all, is just a conduit for sauce. The restaurant is definitely a sporty place. The epic fries are EPICCCC. SO YUMMY, my absolute favorite comfort meal bc of the carbs and fried chicken. I always ask to get both buffalo mild and the honey bbq sauce mixed. No regrets. This place is always busy tho, especially on the weekends, bc its right next to the uni. But also prob their biggest location with a bar inside and everything for sports games. I so wanted to leave a good review as the experience started off fine. It is definitely a SDSU hang out and a "walk to" place and not a "let's go out to eat here" type of place... I was able to find parking and the parking spots are SMALL where you are literally smacking the car beside you (I didnt but my car did get a few whacks)... Order complete... I walked around and notice a ton of seating (restaurant capacity was 143!!) And a very clean wrap around bar area. I walked back to the front and proceeded to wait for my food. Food seemed to be being brought out quickly and then it was my turn and I was off. It was saucy! I LOVED the extra medium spiced sauce I recieved! I love their ranch dressing as well... However that is where the good review ends... the first bite was the smallest piece of chicken... it literally tasted like it was cooked.... frozen and then re-cooked again. It was beyond dry and rubbery. I thought, its because its small... so I tried the biggest piece, it was so extremely dry (see pics) and I was so disappointed. The sauce was good but without good flavorful tasting chicken it was a bust. I tossed the entire thing. The chicken had no flavor, unless it was dipped in sauce or ranch. Also Not sure if it was because of college area or COVID... but it was $12 for 5 pieces of over cooked chicken, bread and veggies. The veggies were pale in color and off tasting... took a bite of a carrot and threw it out. Was super disappointed especially after seeing how busy it was... maybe it was an off day? I like a good wing place because somewhere down the line you can find some good chicken tenders as well! Tenders were exactly what I ordered when I visited this new location in the SDSU area. I had the meal deal which came with four tenders, carrots & celery, and a couple of bread sticks with your choice of dipping sauce and coating for the tenders for $8 and some change. I went "plain" with my tenders or with no sauce, but I would of appreciated some salt at on them tenders. Other than the lack of salt, the tender were well prepared. The breading was crunchy and adhered well to the chicken, and the chicken inside was tender and moist. Well done, but don't for get to add a touch of salt right after they come out of the fryer. I had the tenders with a side of blue cheese and their house BBQ sauce. Both were very good, but I especially liked the chunky blue cheese. Why? Simply because it was chunky! I love the stuff. The bread sticks are a must. They arrived piping hot, butter, and moist. The had a tinge of garlic. They were great eating just on their own. Both the carrots and celery sticks were crisp which is always good. Service was quite nice. The ladies at the counter were all hip and friendly. I stopped by here for a quick dinner a couple of weeks ago. This is a pretty big location. The restaurant goes all the way to the back. They even have a bar. I ordered the 5 piece boneless wings meal with honey bbq sauce which comes with celery, carrot and 2 breadsticks. The breadsticks are thick AF! They're as thick as my forearms! It was delicious but very heavy and doughy! haha it has gluten for days! I even called ahead this time a spoke to a manager to ask they get my order right as the last time they completely forgot my "epic salad". What a mistake because I feel completely targeted. I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to review this gem of a place, but after ten visits, I figure they deserve it. The service has been outstanding each visit, which is not easy to do lately it seems for most places. They do it! This location is close to work and they are good about getting me in and out in less than an hour which is much appreciated (mostly by my bosses). I like that it has a lot of choices for sauces or rubs on the chicken and the wings are my favorite. I usually go with the original wings (bone in) with either a garlic parmesan or lemon pepper topping. Heck sometimes I do half and half on the six wings. The meal comes with two pieces of bread, carrots and celery with a choice of ranch or blue cheese dressing. If you're watching carbs, they will give you extra veggies sans bread if you ask. The wings are always hot, and well seasoned while also being juicy. I really can't ask for more. There are plenty of TV's with sports on them (got to see some World Cup matches over the last few weeks) and plenty of seating. They also have $5 pints of beer daily. Good, craft beer that can be consumed only after business hours while I wait out the wonderful San Diego traffic. Fries along with the garlic cheese sauce. The pizza sticks are alright, there's a good amount of sauce and cheese. The fries are fine too, but the garlic cheese sauce was too salty. My lunch mate got the strips with honey bbq, and comes with celery, carrots, and 2 breadsticks.
