The order came out pretty fast as far as the ambience. The ambiance is definitely neutral. If you've ever been inside an El Pollo Loco before they have the same interior design however, I will say this venue was actually clean so that's a good thing although I did enjoy my salad and I thought it was good. The salad I got was kind of small and charged $.89 per extra salad dressing I feel for $15. I felt like I should be getting more for my money. When I was about 40 pounds heavier I ate what I wanted and when I wanted to. That included fast food, which I love deeply, but better habits meant that I needed to make better choices. While it's not a perfect solution El Pollo Loco remains as my "fast food guilty pleasure" since it's a bit "healthier choice" when on the run and needing something quick. My order is simple: the eight piece chicken meal with that delicious green sauce. Stopped by the El Pollo Loco on El Cajon Boulevard today around 12:30 PM for a quick lunch after a morning of volunteering. I chose it because I was looking for something on the healthier side, and the parking lot seemed easy enough to navigate, which was a plus. I ordered the Double Pollo Fit Bowl and a water. The initial service was good - I was greeted warmly when I walked in, and the cashier was right there to take my order. She was very nice and polite. My food also came out quickly, which was great since I was hungry. The bowl was well prepared and had a good amount of chicken. I also appreciated that they offered three different types of hot sauce. Just a heads up, the dark red one definitely packs some heat (at least for my taste)! Overall, the experience was just... average. It's still a fast-food restaurant at the end of the day. The food was fine, what you'd expect. Say what you will, but personally I've been digging this place for decades! 3.5 stars for me. But it is still fast-food grilled chicken. You might tell me it's not the most authentic ever, and I won't listen. Look, I'll take it any day since I know what to expect. They seem real consistent at all locations. Service is typically quick too. Very good value- price/product ratio. If you're a sucker for coupons like me, that value just got sweeter. They arrive monthly sandwiched in my junk mail but I won't dare call them junk. Saving a few bucks enables the frugal soul. Over the years they have expanded the menu, improved their salsa bar and added a self-serve drink station which includes horchata! Get that green avocado salsa and the diced pico de gallo that they don't give you normally. At the salsa bar. Makes all the difference to me and hopefully you too. We prefer the flour tortillas also since the corn ones taste processed(and are). Knowing from previous visits of course will allow you to make the minor changes to maximize your experience here. We frequent this El Pollo Loco and another one close by, because we love the food for us and our young kids. It's our go-to default family meal place when we don't want to cook or have a babysitter to feed. Also the app and the coupons are what really make it a good deal! I never go there without a coupon and my app. The side salad is so good, my 4 yr old is obsessed with the mac and cheese, and good salsas. Every item is tasty. The staff at this location are EXCELLENT. I have been more times than I can count and they are efficient, fast and super nice. The food is consistently good, I have never had a bad product come from them, ever. Always clean. My only complaint is directed towards the company. Every El Pollo Loco I have been to has the same problem with their intercom system, it's bad, so bad. They can barely hear you yell your order, and you can barely hear them. I love going to this location because of their food but customer service is horrible. I always go through the drive through but the lady makes me repeat my order three times to get my order right. Food is average not the greatest. I sometime crave a avocado chicken salad and decided to eat the double chicken Avocado tostada. I am a huge fan of El Pollo Loco. The main reason for me being a fan is because of their tostada salads. My favorite is a double chicken salad with the avocado but I like it with ranch dressing instead of the cilantro. Their salads are always fresh and the chicken is seasoned perfectly. Only a few times has the chicken not been thoroughly trimmed and I have gotten cartilage or fat in the chicken meat. Another salad dressing that's really good is the Citrus dressing but I usually need 2 of those for my salad. I also really enjoy the avocado salsa mix in with my salad. It adds a good amount of heat and flavor to the salad. The staff at this location are usually nice and friendly. I have not had many problems with my orders but I've also learned to check my order before I leave the restaurant when I take it to go.The only other problem with this location is I have received emails and coupons in the mail for deals and they do not honor the prices. Just another "healthy" fast food place chicken salad was super filling and tasted fresh.

My visits to this El Pollo Loco have become increasingly disappointing. Customer service is almost always good. I typically order at the drive thru. It is apparent by the food served that quality control in the kitchen is almost non existent at times, more often than not. It is unacceptable to advertise food one way and serve differently than pictured. During my visit to the restaurant several days ago, I ordered 2 chicken avocado overstuffed quesadillas for my boyfriend and I. Both quesadillas were served open faced- this is something I have ordered dozens of times and know should not be served this way. During our last visit, I ordered the same thing, but my boyfriend received a bacon chicken and avocado quesadilla and I received a chicken avocado quesadilla, despite the receipt clearly stating " 2 Quesa Chk Avo". During another trip, I ordered 4 crunchy chicken tacos. The employee in the drive thru let me know there was only enough meat for 2 tacos, which gave me the opportunity to choose something else; however, after arriving home, there were a few pieces of shredded chicken and hardly any lettuce. I made the drive back to the store on that occasion and presented the food to the Manager, who did not seem phased by it. On another occasion, I was given what seemed like half of a quesadilla. I placed my order online and headed over, they were calling out the order to begin prep on it, after two clients I was at the counter and announced myself and my order. I ordered a pollo bowl combo, I asked the guy to please give me black beans. when I got to the window i made sure to say, " black beans not pinto" he said OK .
