I went in for a 60 min deep tissue massage with Jennifer and to say the least, she is the best of the best. Each and every minute she spent putting 110% effort into this massage. By the time I left, I was out of commission for the rest of the day due to being so rested and relaxed. I will absolutely be returning. The folks are warm without being pushy and the space is lovely with a nice lounge area with water , tea , etc where you can relax before or after your treatment But the main, numero uno reason I keep going back is their treasure who is Victoria. Massage therapy has helped me w/ a host of issues: poor circulation , stress/anxiety, "winter blues"/S.A.D., arthritis (in low back), Whiplash in- jury. The Spa helps smooth out rough edges in daily life, & having one nearby is a great reassurance! Nice staff, private rooms, tea lounge w/ artwork 'inherited' from old NWCA. I avoid Sat(their busiest day) & go in during the week, so there's more personal space in the locker room. read more

This review really should be split into two sections: the spa itself and the spa services. The spa services would get 5 stars. My husband and I went together to get massages. He said his was perfect (I believe her name was Christina). So was mine. My therapist was Felicia and I got a deep tissue massage ($105). She was just the right kind of masseuse you'd want for that - someone who could intellectualize my muscles, pinpoint and manipulate them exactly, and had really strong hands to use the full range of pressure. The scalp, neck, and face massage towards the end was so wonderful I almost fell asleep. Although she was a bit "get right down to business," with little pre-talk about my massage expectations, I'd go back to her any day. The spa facilities, on the other hand, were disappointing. The place seems to have been space-planned by a blind person. I know the building used to be office space, and I get the sense they didn't want to do any real demo when building the spa. It seems like they crammed everything into spaces meant to house desks and one person at a time. The women's locker room was tiny (imagine my surprise when I heard the mens was even smaller) and poorly laid out. If you wanted to use the toilet, you were practically sitting with everyone who was changing. The door opened the wrong way - so when someone new came into the locker room (or in my case, when someone briskly left the locker room) the door opened right into the changing area for all of the spa to see. And it wasn't spring loaded, so I was left in my underwear to lunge to shut the door when the other person left it wide open behind them. The entire spa is tiled and the tiles were freezing COLD. the whole environment seemed a little cold, actually. Like a terracotta Mediterranean accident. The waiting area has zero privacy - it could have used a curtain or something to separate it from the hall - and is completely un-relaxing. You can see all the way from the entry way to the awkward arrangement of random chairs, so you feel rather exposed while waiting for your services. And the furniture there must have been bought from a doctor's office yard sale. Hard and uncomfortable, awkwardly placed around a (cold) glass table. the service room itself was cramped - barely enough room for the table. and the showers for the spa are either in the treatment room or in the hallway - not in the locker room (bizarre!) I would have given this place 1 or 2 stars if it wasn't for how wonderful Felicia was. And, from what it sounds like, the other technicians and therapists are. She got a 5 and rescued this sad place. There are a lot of quick, inexpensive fixes (like putting the door hinges on the other side, putting woven runners on the floor, and putting up a fabric screen by the waiting area) that could have made this such a better place. If you know you are going to get in and get out really fast - and don't need to take a shower - then I say go here. But otherwise, I think I'm going to be shopping for a different place to go. read more

I will start by telling you I go to a lot of spa I try to once a month I been to the HYATT I been to all different private and commercial spa and I have to say this SPA is the most serine and peaceful spa I have ever been to when you walk in and are taken to the back you are given a robe and slippers and wait in there peaceful and tranquil waiting area were this is tea, water and aroma therapy in the air. I was great by my technician Dana for my 60 min deep tissue massage I was taken to this beautiful massage room very spacious and the service began they start off asking me my problem area and where to focus on then the service started and while laying down she did aroma therapy making me smell a great smell and then started with a amazing deep tissue massage. This is one of the best massage I have ever had in my life I will defiantly go back and see Dana for a massage read more

I have been a long time client of Epidavros Day Spa. The staff are always warm and friendly regardless of what service I am visiting for. The spa itself invokes a peaceful and meditative state. You are met at reception with a very courteous, helpful staff that starts off your visit with an atmosphere that is kind and friendly and will answer any questions you may have. The spa itself is beautiful and puts you in a relaxed state immediately, from the waiting area to the area you are taken to for your service. The prices at Epidavros are well worth the service you will receive. The staff are all masters at their craft and I am always completely satisfied at the service I received. They have added extras that I find to be such a great touch, from the water that is flavored that you are offered before and after your services or the berries and nuts added to your private steam shower that really add to the rejuvenating effect of your service. I give the staff and the services at Epidavros a true A+ for all the many services they offer at great prices and the amazing atmosphere really make this establishment a place I return to often. read more

I agree with Ellen - the services were great. I went for a swedish massage and a facial, both were above par. I went after reading the previous reviews because of the close proximity to my home and not wanting to travel, so my expectations might have been adjusted. Both the massage and the facial were great! The space is a bit odd, but after driving by a few times I could tell from the outside it was not a typical spa location. Still, for a solid massage I would go again - though I may try some other spas in the area to shop around a bit first! read more

Very dissappointed in the facility and staff. Other than providing robes and having a small sauna, I would not consider this a Day Spa. Atmosphere was not private and tranquil. Instead, guests could hear the staff's 'private' conversations from the break room. I also heard every word spoken from the guest and therapist in the next room. Extremely embarrassing. Both my friend and I left with bits of a face mask still remaining on our face (facials). To top it off, the Manager was not interested in our concerns or helpful in anyway. She dismissed us, walked back into her office and left us and the receptionist standing in lobby without any direction. Services were ok. Not good, but not bad. Atmosphere ruined the entire experience. Extremely dissappointed and would not recommend. read more

I recently moved to westchester and have not been able to find a place that does decent brazilian waxes. I tried several other salons before my friend recommended Epidavros. My waxer was Melissa and she did a great job. She was friendly, and really good. The only downside was the price. Coming from Manhattan, I typically paid at max $55 for a brazilian, and Epidavros charged $70. read more

I have been meaning to write this review since November of 2010. I gave a gift to my mom for her birthday and it turned out to be the worse experience she ever had. She was very disappointed with the service and the treatment she received from the gentleman sitting at the front desk. I have to mention that when I walked in to purchase the gift certificate, it took him 5 minutes to acknowledge me. he was doing something on his computer. The same thing happened when I dropped off my mom for her appointment. we were standing in front of him and he would not look up. I made it clear to the gentleman that I was there to drop my mom off and this was her birthday gift. we presented the gift certificate so he was well aware that his was a gift. When she was done with her massage and was waiting for the elevator, he approached her and said "wait, the tip is not included" he mentioned the price of the package to her and again repeated to say that the tip was not included. she answered that she knows and proceeded to push the elevator button. he again told her the price of the package (I rather her not know how much I paid for it) and told her again that the tip is not included. he mentioned the price to her 3 times and repeated that the tip is not included 3 times. When she came out, she told me that she felt like she was a criminal. She left a nice tip for both girls that were taking care of her and was not sure why he needed to approach her in such a nasty tone. He should have verified before approaching my mother if she left a tip and you know what if she did not feel like leaving a tip, it was her choice. She left very confused: did the girls not tell him that she left money for them, did she not leave enough, why did I pay so much for her massage. this was not what this experience was supposed to be. She worked hard all her life and still works hard. wakes up 2 am to go to work, never treats herself. When I called Epidavros to complain, all they did was defend the guy and said that it is their policy to remind people about the tip. why do they need to remind someone who already left the tip? I do want to mention that the massage itself was very relaxing and she enjoyed that. read more

I had never been here before but found a nice Groupon for an inexpensive hair cut. To my surprise, the place is kind of in an office building, and has just 1 sink and 1 chair. (It's not a typical hair salon, really just a spa.) I was feeling a little awkward being the only person there, but Mary was SO incredibly nice and friendly. The problem was not with the stylist, but with the sink! My neck was so horribly strained from the lack of support during the long shampoo, that it was almost shaking by the time she was finished. I hadn't realized how much I was straining, or I certainly would have said something. I have had minorly uncomfortable shampoos before, but never like that. For the next 3 days (no exaggeration), I was nearly paralyzed with a stiff neck, unable to turn my head in any direction without extreme pain (have to turn my entire body, robotically). I have never, ever experienced such a thing from a salon before. It ruined my weekend, during which I was basically bed-bound on ibuprofen. I later realized there must have been no towel cushioning between my spine and the sink, which I did not realize until it was over. I did some Googling and discovered there is even a risk of stroke from such lack of support from salon sinks! Needless to say, I am extremely upset by this unexpectedly awful experience. It may sound trivial or even funny, but when you can't drive, look down, turn your head, eat, sleep, or do anything without sharp pain, stiffness, dizziness, and headache, it's serious. Sad to say, I can never return. read more
