Went here a few months ago and had an amazing experience with Gordon. My experience today was awful. Several weeks ago I made an appointment and sent a picture of what I wanted. I was told Doug would be my artist. When we got here today, there was no stencil ready and when he finally brought it out it was nothing like what I wanted. It should be noted that the tattoo I want is for my mother and it's literally an exact replica of the one I got here a few months ago. He goes on to tell me it's "not my art style" and threw an attitude about the changes that I wanted done to the stencil. He left out a lot of details and the proportions were off. First off, the appointment was made with a picture and the artist was assigned to me. If it isn't his art style I don't know why he even took the appointment. Second of all, he was extremely rude to us because we were asking him to make changes to the stencil. This is a PERMANENT thing. I've never met a tattoo artist that was so irritated about having to clean up a design. I won't be back. read more

Now I understand that I was a walk-in but I figured no one could mess up a simple quote this bad. After it was done, the tattoo came out extremely crooked, he took a photo for me. I mentioned it was crooked and the artist told me that it's because I was breathing too hard and it made him move. I don't believe that because I went and recently got the tattoo covered up with a large back piece and it came out perfect. Overall, it wasn't a good experience for me. For it being permanent on your body, I was extremely upset. And he didn't react to it well when I pointed out the issue. We walked in at 3 and I explained what we wanted and was asked to come back at 6. Dirk was very friendly and approachable, but he was the only guy in the shop and there were people ahead of us. We arrived at 6 and Dirk asked if we minded if Gordon did her tattoo because he was still with a client. We decided it would be fine. Gordon was SO nice and listened to what she wanted and totally accommodated us as neurotic parents and made us feel so at ease. He was great with my daughter and made her feel comfortable as well. He was done quick! And after fixing a mistake that WE made on the original drawing, the tattoo was perfect. I highly suggest this shop. I just think you should know how this place treats people with special needs. My daughter is autistic and started an apprenticeship there. The employee Mack knowing she was autistic called her work "shit", made fun of my wife and I's parenting skills to my daughter. They were not giving her a set schedule around her other job. When I called and asked it mack said they absolutely would not and hung up. As soon as he hung up he turned to my daughter and said he was only kidding and they would "work it out". So my daughter calls back a few days later and and says her hours and Mack says "no you are only working here" and hangs up on her. What type of professionalism is this? To treat anyone let alone an autistic person this way? If you have a special needs child stay the hell away from this place because they think it is funny to haze them. read more

I walked in today wanting a small and simple wrist tattoo, a shorter Asian guy with a hat walked up to me and I said I wanted a small wrist tattoo as a first. He immediately said he didn't have time today which is fine but he left the conversation at that and didn't offer another time to come in where we could get it done, and in total gave a very stand-off-ish attitude . He walked away to continue to chat with a couple of people in the back. Whether one of the the people in the back was getting work done or not, he had time to come up and greet us and probably had time to at least schedule a time for me to come in when he, or someone else, was free. I don't think I'm entitled to anything besides a little effort from staff when you're bringing in business and as a first impression with anything tattoo it left a really bad taste in my mouth. I called Lady Luck Tattoo just up the street and they immediately said they were booked today as well but followed up with a time that I could come in. The contrast in customer service was blatantly obvious and I'll be getting my work done there from now on just based on first impressions, which is unfortunate because Epiphany is closer to my place. read more

My review is not only about James but also about dirk, a couple years back I had James rock out some work on my trench and my wrist. Still to this day James has been the only person to make white stick in my skin and the color is just as vibrant as the day they were done. He made it a blast to work with him and was calming in two really shitty spots to get inked up. Dirk is a bad ass and also made it fun, he hung around and talked with me and the thing that I respect the most is he let his artist DO WHAT HE DOES!!!! A lot of tattoo shops could take notes. My friend and I randomly decided to get tattoos on a Saturday and we were able to get appointments with James. He was AWESOME!!! He was able to draw up a really cool naval ship anchor for my friends departed father and it was exactly what she wanted. For me...... This was my very first tattoo (Eeeeek). James was able to take the design of tribal sea turtles that I had picked out. He helped me modify the design to fit the area that I wanted them and also helped me add the personal touch them that I had in mind. My turtles are perfect. He was so nice and talked to me the entire time, which helped to distract me from any pain. He gave me some tips prior to actually getting the tattoos and told me how to care for it while it was healing. My tattoo wasn't sore or anything the day after. Jim was my tattoo artist and he also help me come up with an idea for a nice cover up. We decided to do a stormtrooper/candy skull idea and it came out better than I could have imagined! He responded as if I offended him and said "I'm not sure that's a great way to introduce yourself into a new Tattoo shop I don't even know what you mean by shopping for a new artist." Haha I mean hell I've been a loyal client to another artist who has ruined the artist/client relationship and now I'm looking for a new artist what's so hard to understand? I suppose they don't have many people researching before hiring them to permanently decorate their bodies. Anyhow I explained briefly again that I was looking for a new artist and again asked to see portfolios. Dude was apparently still offended that I wanted to pre judge before hiring someone. He copped an attitude and pointed to the flash art posters on the wall and said well I still don't know what you mean by hiring an artist to work on you but you can look through those. This spot is probably the perfect shop for a first time Tattoo client but if you are well Tattooed and the work you are used to getting is from a several award winning type of artist then don't stop here. Came in for a naval piercing last week. The piercer didn't even have a flat table for me to lay on, making me hold myself up for the piercing. Which ended up making him Pierce it too high up + did not give it enough room to swell up during the healing process. The piercing is not even in my naval & the top ball is pushing into my stomach making a huge hole. I was upset leaving the place but gave it a week to see how it would heal- it already has an infection. I have 11 piercings and have never had them get infected before. I only came here because my guy was out of town- big mistake on my part. Really disappointed because now I'm going to have to take it out and let it heal.
