Was super disappointed in the person who did my tattoo. I don't remember his name but he was a shorter dude that looked somewhat Asian. I was a walk-in, which I never do. I don't like walking into a place without an appointment because I don't want to take their time away from anything they're doing that's important. This time however I called before I came in, a person gave me a quote on what I wanted and told me it was okay to come in any time that day. When I came in, he had me double check the wording I wanted. I knew exactly what I wanted but it was nice of him to have me double check. We picked out font pretty quickly as well. The entire time I was there he made me feel like I was a huge waste of his time. I was polite and trying to get him to defrost a little bit he wouldn't smile. He had to re-place the guide because it wasn't quite right on my foot, not a big deal at all. When we started on it I was looking around his room. He had amazing looking art and was getting really excited because his style was the type I really liked and would get tattooed. Tattoo hurt like hell, but of course it does, it's on the foot and foot tattoos hurt. You could tell he wasn't really having a good time and I get it. He might've had a bad day, you never know, something might've happened with him to where he was having a bad day. I was smiling the whole time, feeling a little awkward, but trying to help loosen him up. He joked maybe one time, but hey a little is better than nothing. Tattoo done, wrapped and ready to go. Here was the worst of it. Over the phone he said they start around $50. When we made up the template he said $60-$65. When we were done and ready to pay he said $80. Okay. That's not what we agreed, but the lines were good (I think) so okay, $80. He took my card, stood by the machine thinking, then handed the card back to me saying "actually it's lunchtime now and my boss doesn't like us to run cards during this time" okay. So I know what he really meant is "I want to be able to pocket most if not all the money so paying in cash is preferred" I get it. Not a big deal, but unprofessional. I had a $50 and two $20s. So $90. He stared into my wallet the whole time as I pulled them out. I handed him the cash and our conversation went: "have a good day" "but I handed you $90" "Yeah?" "Yeah, yo said $80 and I handed you $90" "Oh... you wanted change?" What???! The hell? Yes I want my damn change after you kept increasing the price and being rude to me the whole time. Your tip is obviously already included, made sure by you. Man this peeves me. It really sucks that he was so rude about the whole thing. I can't believed treat someone like that. Expectations are dream killers, man. I really liked his artwork and was really wanting to talk to him about a bigger piece, and was willing to pay him for good work but holy crap his bad attitude the whole time I was there completely turned me off. I'd be willing to talk to him to see if he's changed, but damn, he lost a sale. Not a small sale either. read more

So, I ended up with a great tattoo, but it was a bit of a process to get there. My sister and I decided to get matching sister tattoos that I drew up myself. We scheduled the appointment via email with James since my sister had previously been tattooed by him. My sister sent him the photo and mistakenly mentioned that he could add anything he thought of and then we would agree or disagree with the changes. We never got any feedback on his changes before the appointment so we were a bit worried. The initial drawing he showed us upon arriving was nothing like what I thought it should look like but thankfully James worked with us until it basically looked like a cleaner version of what I sent him. (I am a tattoo artists worst nightmare I imagine) The results were stunning! He did a great job! And it was a crazy good price. I would definitely recommend this place. Just be sure to be clear about what you want or don't want. Where to even start? I got my first tattoo here, as soon as it was done, I knew it was a mistake. The artist didn't listen to me. Even weeks later I have heavy cracking because of how heavy handed the he was by filing in an area I didnt not want filled. But, it was my first time, different people heal at different stages and I didn't advocate for myself so, we went back for another tattoo. This was a larger piece with a lot of detail. In the first days of healing, we hadn't noticed a word was completely misspelled. A whole word was so misspelled, we can't even think of a way to fix it. Tattoos are forever, don't risk your skin with these people. The customer service is beyond atrocious. I understand different skin types and different skill levels. This is not a place I would trust marking my skin. My tattoo could heal, I hope for the best. You CANNOT fix a word so misspelled it sounds like you're speaking another language. Pay close attention to the cursive writing, you may end up with Regrets. read more

My friend and I were able to walk in and get matching tattoos pretty quickly. It's always a crapshoot walking in to a shop and hoping they have the time. The guys we worked with were super cool, and did make time for us without it feeling rushed. We were able to get a matching design drawn up quickly, and two different artists were able to successfully execute exactly matching tattoos, colors and all. I worked with Dave and my friend worked with Ian. I 100% will be retuning here at some point in the future for a larger custom piece. read more

I finally decided my bucket list needed something scratched off of it and I needed a tattoo on my body. My Venus of Willendorf. I am an Art Historian and I love art, and have a serious soft spot for the Venus of Willendorf. A four-plus inch Goddess figurine dating back a few 25,000 years is now representing the Paleolithic on my arm. If I knew her zip code I could do all "303" and stuff.....I will have to look into that. I am going to die with this image on my arm. It is not just a flower or skull or letter, it is a one off.... James Morgan is a Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design graduate. He is trained in the arts; Color Theory, Drawing, Painting, Design and Art history. He started drawing as a kid, and not coloring books drawing but really DRAWING. What he brings to skin is amazing. My Venus of Willendorf has healed on schedule. I am a bit of a germaphobe, and the studio was fastidiously clean and gloves were changed often and every time he left my arm for any reason. Seriously, I notice this stuff. My after-care is good. Art With Heart definitely has heart! This shop is fantastic. It's not too large and not too small, and is pretty much perfect in my mind. Each artist has their own private room so you're not out in the open like other shops. It's also uber clean and well taken care of. You can tell that they take their work very seriously and that they have great pride in what they do. I went in the other day to visit an old friend who works here and get some work done. I left with the biggest smile on my face because my experience was fantastic. Not only did I get to see my friend, but his work is outstanding. His craftsmanship was second to none and he really took his time giving me the tattoo I wanted. It is permanent after all, so you certainly shouldn't settle for mediocre when it comes to tattoos. Had a great experience at this shop recently. I walked in with a couple ideas expecting to make a future appointment but Steve had availability that day. I brought in a couple of items that were the inspiration and he drew up a great design that I loved and did that Tattoo that afternoon. You know, it really saddens me that I have to make a negative yelp review because I, myself, work in the service industry and I would never want anything negative attached to my name but I've done a lot of thinking and unfortunately this is something I feel in my heart needs to be shared so I can maybe prevent someone else going through the absolute nightmare that I had to go through that is now on my body and a reminder for forever.. My mother and I decided to get matching tattoos while she was in town visiting me from Phoenix, AZ. When she landed, we went out for breakfast and looked up tattoo shops because we were so excited we wanted to be the first people in the shop that day so we could just have our tattoo already! We had been talking about it and coming up with ideas for months, this was a very special moment for us! So we come across this place, "Art with heart" which the theme of our tattoo was based off unconditional love so we figured this was perfect! So, we come in and this dude Bryce tattooed my mom and I. He was really nice and he did do a good job however he messed up, and he messed up big time and was not very nice about it AT ALL(this is my first bad yelp review EVER). The tattoo takes up my whole entire upper left side of my back and he put two letters in the wrong spots on my back so of course we had no choice but to have to cover it up! We sat there for an hour, I was not happy with the ideas he was coming up with and my mom thankfully did come up with one that I could tolerate being on my skin for the rest of my life but I still don't like it and it angers me every time I see it. He did do the cover up for free which took about an hour of work but he did not give us a refund or a discount of any kind. My sister, who decided to jump on board while we got our tattoo fell in love with it so much that she decided to get it as well(which is crazy because she's the biggest plane Jain I've ever met) but he couldn't see her until the day after Christmas because he was booked, and I thought for sure he was going to give up a discount on that one and he did not. Today, my sister was putting lotion on my tattoo and pointed out that the E he messed up on and the W are the only parts of my tattoo that are still risen, they look infected, they're the only parts on my tattoo with a scab and they are not going to be covered up and we deserve a partial refund on these! So I call the shop and ask the speak to a manager so I could talk about my experience and she told me to hold on and put Bryce, the guy that tattooed me, on the phone(which is the last person I want to talk nor need to) and he was so rude about it! He told my sister and I that he's not a magician and can't make everybody happy and that he did the cover up for free "What more else do you want from me" was stated. He blamed it on his head not being in the right place due to something he's been thoroughly trained for to do and almost degraded me as a human about health reasons I don't want to nor feel comfortable discussing on social media but he said some other things that were completely out of line and absolutely inconsiderate and disrespectful and I will NEVER come back here. I can never show my face at this shop again because of how humiliated I was and how disrespected my mother, little sister and I were.... I also have a huge shoulder piece that I'm never going to want to look at or take any pride in at all! If you do come here, I wouldn't suggest Bryce. I would choose anyone BUT him!! Also, whoever works as the front desk receptionist here, I also suggest that the next time someone asks to speak to a manager you actually go and get one so maybe things like this yelp review can be avoided! read more

Art With Heart is a wonderful tattoo shop. Located in a small strip mall behind the bank on the corner of Iliff and Parker, AWH is a clean and comfortable shop. I have had work done by others in Denver, and though all but one were good, I have found a new artist for all future work. Honest Jon Hall (he earns the nickname, trust me) does incredible work. His attention to detail, the crispness of his lines, the needle control are all second-to-none. Doesn't hurt that he is a really nice guy, too. I was scheduled for a calf piece, but I needed a coverup done as well. No sweat. Within minutes of sitting down, he has hand drawn the perfect coverup right on me, and inked it then and there. Never again will I have to look at my ex-wife's name on my ankle (definite lesson learned). It blended perfectly into an already existing tattoo, and I am now ready to have the whole piece expanded. Finished that, and then went on to the calf piece. When getting work done, you want to make sure that you find someone who can steadily control the needle providing crisp lines but with a soft touch. The idea is to have perfect ink, not scar tissue. Jon has that soft touch and needle control. I doubt that he is the cheapest guy in Denver, but he is nowhere near the priciest either. For EXCELLENT work at a very fair price, Honest Jon is the man! Besides, why would you want the cheapest guy to mark you for life? He schedules appointments several weeks out, so call him today to get on his calendar. You and your mortician will both be glad that Jon did your work. read more

I have been getting tattooed for 16 years now and I must say unless I move from Colorado I will never go to another shop. Brandon is very professional and great at what he does. My friend had an appointment and the tattoo artist called out sick and never contacted her to let her know. Ive heard that this has happened to other people who have gone there.
