I have small eyes and short lashes which can make me look tired even when I'm not. With Jessica's craft, I feel like it wakes up my entire face and the best part is that it looks....NATURAL! Some people might comment, "you look really good or rested, etc.." but my eyelashes are appropriate for my eyes and face and therefore it's not obvious I have extensions. (I have seen those kinds of lashes and always think it's ridiculous!) Another amazing part is that they LAST until my next fill. I have been getting extensions since I lived in New york and they either looked fake, put too few on, or they started falling out 3 days after having a service!! I personally couldn't imagine going to anyone else as long as I live in the Bay Area. Cherry on top - Jessica is prompt, considerate, friendly, kind & funny and therefore it makes the time go by so fast, it's a joy! Not something I dread like with other places in the past. It's a super comfortable space with great energy and light and good parking! I am definitely not someone who naturally has "hand model" hands, but somehow my nails always leave looking like I could be in a jewelry ad. The level of detail and precision is unreal. What I love most about Russian manicures is how long they last and how good they still look weeks later. Because of the meticulous cuticle work, the polish is applied so close to the cuticle that it takes much longer to get that obvious grown-out look you get with regular gel manicures. My friend and I literally compared nails and her 2-week-old manicure looked basically the same as my 4-week-old one. They are also incredibly durable. I have been getting Russian manicures for almost two years now, and with all my normal day-to-day activities like typing, cooking, dishes, laundry, gardening, and working out, I have not had a single chipped, broken, or split nail. Another unexpected benefit is how much healthier my hands look overall. Since I started getting Russian manicures once a month, I have not had the hangnails that used to constantly bother me. And Adinai herself is wonderful. She is sweet, kind, and a total perfectionist in the best possible way. She genuinely cares about how your nails turn out. Honestly, you should have seen the look of concern on her face when I accidentally put my thumb into the UV light at the wrong angle. She was immediately worried it would affect the shape of the builder gel. That level of care says everything. I recommend both this style of manicure and Adinai without reservation. Milvali salon feels more like a assembly line chop shop vs high end salon experience. I've had two…read moreservices here and both fell short. I had a haircut here, which I ended up waiting for the stylist for over an hour. When she finally saw me she said it was bc some scraggly haired woman with her extensions came in last minute demanding she fix her hair, and so she spent hours re bonding (or whatever the term is?) the hair. I'm not trying to be mean here, but the woman had very fine blonde hair that was bob length and got hair down to her waist. My aside here is ...ladies...can we just love what we have and maybe do any enhancements in moderation instead of totally going overboard with the extensions down to our tushies?! And, yes, I was rightfully upset bc I had an appt and this woman did not, yet I had to wait for my scheduled service?? Totally doesn't make sense. The kicker was when I told the stylist she should have rescheduled me if she was going to be so late, and her response was that she didn't want to lose another customer that day. Welp, she definitely lost me as a customer, because I'd never go back to her. The cut was okay but overall a mind boggling experience and a waste of my time. The other experience I had was getting a facial from an aesthetician. I specifically let her know I didn't want any animal tested or animal products on my skin. And yet, she slapped collagen on my face (and it wasn't marine collagen). She also didn't do any arm or neck massage, which is odd because with all the facials I've had at other places, I've always had a light massage while a mask is on my face. When I asked about the massage, the aesthetician said she leaves the room while my mask is on vs doing a massage. Additionally, she kept using the term "anti-aging", despite me sharing that I'm not against what natural process happens to us all, and I don't like language that makes us hate a natural process. I think (especially in a spa or salon setting) there are far more positive terms we can use to describe caring for our skin. Rejuvenating, refreshing, aging with grace, naturally enhancing...sounds far more from a place of love and acceptance for ourselves than "anti-aging". From both of these less than par experiences, my take away was that I was in a low caliber salon, and not a specialized, leveled up establishment. It's been a year and I haven't returned, nor would I recommend this place to others.
