We were told to seat ourselves when we came in. The waitress took the menus from a person at another table then handed it to us. My husband ordered a beer and I had an ice water. For an appetizer we had the mini spicy elote empanadas. Sad part they were not hot and you can tell they came frozen. The sauce that came with was good. For dinner my husband had the Big Juan and I had the beef chimichanga. My husband was sad that we never given chips. Also he had no sides with his dinner. I had a side of rice and beans. The rice was either undercooked or very dry, it was hard. The chimichanga had a good taste but didn't taste fried. My husband's Big Juan was missing sour cream. He said it was alright but not good enough to have again. Tried on a whim, don't plan on returning. The restaurant was very loud we couldn't talk to one another across the table. Nervous to go with a 3.5 on Yelp, but dang, not sure why, their ratings should be much higher. The place, food, and service was FANTASTIC! Plenty of parking out front of the restaurant complimentary, plenty of seating when we first walked in around 5pm and by the time we left at 6pm every table was full along with the bar and the entire time they had multiple take out orders! My husband loved his margarita and ordered a 2nd. We loved our chip trio, guacamole, salsa, and queso, and you had a choice of flour, corn or mix chips, we chose flour. Chips are also unlimited!! Prices were right on point, $5 margarita $13 for the chip trio, so cheap these days! The single beef tacos $4 were HUGE took over the entire basket, definitely not a street taco size lol. Went here for our monthly date night and we loved everything about this place! The outside looks very authentic. The prices of their items are out of this world. Hardly anything on their menu (including drinks) is over $10. I got a lime margarita and it was very well crafted and came out very quickly. For food, we got the three dip combo that came with salsa, guac, and queso and the queso was incredible. They have two different options of chips or you can combine them together. For my entree I got the Big Juan which was a massive burrito which I loved but preferred if it came with queso on it because it was so good! Will definitely be coming back! read more

The food had literally no taste. Even after smothering it in hot sauce it was very underwhelming. If you look in the kitchen it's just basically cans of everything being opened. The local old guys sitting at the bar , loud and one guy was saying the F word in every sentence. Not once did the waitress come back after the food was delivered. read more

My parents and I came here last Saturday for lunch and it was pretty good. We found a table, sat down, and gave our drink orders. After getting us the drinks, we ordered the food. We split the breaded mushrooms as an app and I ordered the 'Everything Burger'. The food came out in a pretty good time. The waitress said that I didn't receive a lot of fries because they needed to make more, and she would bring out more in a little bit......but she never did. I also didn't ask for them but still, don't send out food unless the order is complete. The burger was pretty tasty and really good deal for the money. One of the few places that was open during the snow and cold the other day. We had wonderful food and great service while having lunch here. It was all prepared very well and did not disappoint. While the place was pretty much empty, the waitress did not stop making sure her whole restaurant looked great and ready for a full dining room while taking care of our orders and making sure to check in on us throughout our meal. We will definitely return here! The prices for the meals and drinks were not inflated. Surely priced so families can enjoy a meal here without breaking g the bank as well. read more

Ordered the enchilada to share with my husband bc we knew it was big. It was good but barely warm, disappointing. If it was hot it would of been awesome. We ordered the queso and with the bottle of salsa that is on the table we put some of that in the cheese. It was hot and good. The chips were good but cold. We needed more chips and waited about ten minutes to get them, so our cheese was cold by then. They are under staffed. The waitresses were friendly just didn't have time for us. Thank goodness for the meat and cheese dip (THICK cheddar blend cheese with ground meat) and cheeseburger, otherwise it would have been closer to two stars. I've ate at Jonesy's since I was a kid and this dip has been the one thing that draws me back. For years it was served with fresh warm fluffy flour chips; however, over the last year, these chips have turned cold and hard like they're prepared ahead of time. This time I tried a margarita to pair with the dip...bad decision. The drink looked cute served in a mason jar but it was a heavy 'mix' taste that may have went bad. On the upside, my husband was pleasantly surprised with a bacon cheeseburger. The burger was juicy with the right amount of sauce and crisp bacon. They had a new menu this time so hopefully they're trying to turn it around but they still have some work to do. read more

Smallest nacho I've ever gotten from here! I ordered a large nacho to go and it comes in a container smaller than a side nacho from Taco Bell. Been going to Jonesy's for years but this is just pathetic and doubt I will be back. read more

I have never been to a Jonesys taco house before, but my friend has, I live in council bluffs, so we went to this one instead of the Omaha location. We got the meat and cheese dip, it was not good. And according to my friend, nothing even comparable to the other Jonesy's. Their fried flour tortilla chips are not great at all. He got 2 tacos and he LOVES Jonesy's tacos, said they tasted absolutely nothing like the ones in Omaha. I got the smothered chimichanga. The rice had a weird seasoning on it that tasted terrible and the pork inside the chimichanga was charred and just tasted burnt and gross. The ONE thing that was one point and was delicious, was their new corn poppers filled with corn and different cheeses. They are absolutely divine, but I can get those at mamas kitchen in Omaha, so I won't be coming here again. Really bad first impression. read more

Got invited by some wonderful friends to check out Taco Tuesday at Jonesy's. Seemed like a neat little neighborhood place and who doesn't like cheap tacos! Well we where seated quickly and the place was packed so it goes without saying that the place must be slightly popular with the locals. Now i love local places it's kinda the whole beginning of my culinary adventure. But this place really wasn't impressive. First off let me say service was excellent. I mean anyone who can smile and wait on four kids and three adults on what seemed like a busy night has to be top notch. So thanks to our waitress who kept the orange pop flowing. Tacos where ehh, like I make at home. Got a side of guacamole which was very bland and almost seemed pre packaged. Decided to try this for a family dinner. Do not go here. You will be incredibly depressed about it. The outside decor was pleasant and parking was easy. First, we had to seat ourselves. Okay, not a problem. Service was moderately quick. Okay, cool. Food. Ugh. :( Sampler platter - seemed like everything I could have pulled from my freezer myself. It was fried, greasy, super salty and ALL TASTED THE SAME. Shrimp dinner was like rubber. Sent it back. Tostada had zero flavor. I could have pulled canned chicken put myself, put it on a plate and microwaved it. Mexican pizza was just not good at all because it had no seasoning on the meat. Crust was overcooked. You know... I drove past here today on my way to another eatery and realized I never reviewed the place. Jonesys is cool beyond the name. It is a family place in the middle of a residential area.... there are no other businesses nearby for a few blocks. This is Ameri-Mex food and it is pretty darn tasty. I had some queso that I never could finish and a combo plate that included a burrito and an enchilada. Now, my homemade enchiladas rock, but this one was fine enough not to get complaints or disgusting looks from me. ; ) The burrito was good, too. I had them cheese me up on the sauces, which was overkill... but all my fault. My only complaint would be the lack of spice in some of the meats. This is common at Mex-American and Ameri-Mex places, though. How about a packet of McCormick's or SOMEthing people??!! The staff was super friendly. read more

I really like Jonsey's. Everytime we stop in the service is friendly, and the food comes out quick. The resturant has a very comfortable aura, but that may be biased as I have been going there with my family for awhile now! Quick note: I put down there that they take reservations. I marked that simply because they have a sectioned area that CAN be put on reserve for a party or whatever. Otherwise this is a resturant that you can stop in freely without calling to reserve a table (far from it). read more

Is good place, food is plentiful . . . BUT, the only problem i have with the Mexican is that they use AMERICAN Cheese Food Product and not real cheese. I've asked and they say, "because it melts better.: Then why not use shredded cheese . . . . American cheese is so fake, and actually tasteless and ruins the taste of what you expect would be really great Mex food .. . . They day also that they will use other cheeses if you ask, we did, and they didn't, but we were hungry, and just didn't want the hassle . . . Not all what i hoped for. read more

Tried the small enchilada and the flour nacho chips with cheese. The small was definitely big enough and while it tasted fine the sauce was not a traditional red enchilada sauce - more brown and cheese and a little red, but good. If you like AmeriMex, and if you order the right thing, you'll love this place! I've been eating here since the early '90's and I really enjoy some of their food! The only problem is they don't season their hamburger! So if you order anything without sauce, like: taco, nachos, etc, they are flavorless. And the cheese they use tastes like Velveeta...Yuck! But I love their mole! When I order I request Very light on cheese and extra mole and pour it on Everything and it's excellent! I really love the tamales and the flour nachos! read more

Very disappointing! Order a quesadillas, got a tortilla that had been heated in a microwave with little meat in it and folded over and they called it a quesadilla. Never again. And they say they're a Mexican restaurant. Sad! read more

Been eating here now for 15 years. I'm from California and travel to Mexico for vacation once or twice a year. This is an Iowa version of some Mexican so if you're looking for authentic head to south Omaha. The food here had a brief down spell several years ago but has been back to standard for quite a while. The rice is wonderful, the tamales are better than authentic, the beans are lighter than most northern Plains versions. The sauces are definitely overdone in terms of volume and cheeses but are very good nevertheless. The serving sizes are over-the-top. What's not to like? read more

Stopped in tonight (7.12.16) for $2 tacos and $2 margaritas. Food was pretty great for the price and came out surprisingly fast - even before our drinks got to the table. While the food was good, our margaritas had been ordered without salt and arrived salted. For the sake of a busy night and cheap prices, we shrugged it off and enjoyed our food. Not enough reason to complain from our perspective. And then we sat. No table touch from our server. She didn't stop by at all after another employee dropped off our food - but we did witness her socializing aplenty in the distance as we tried to wait patiently. We had to walk up to the cashier to even see our bill. As two folks who have grown up in and worked in the service industry for a collective 20 years, service is number 1. This is definitely AMERICAN-Mex, with very generous servings. There is a kids' menus, and the order comes out very quickly. I had the taco salad in a tortilla bowl. There must have been about a pound of beef in it! It was tasty, but the tortilla bowl tasted a bit rancid, which was a blessing in disguise for me. Not a place if you want authentic, but if you're hungry, this is the place for you. Plenty of parking too. read more
