I really don't know that I can give this a better review. I maxed out the stars on my first review, but now since I come here quite often I can say this is probably my favorite coffee house in Austin. The only way I will go to Epoch I, is if I wish to go after midnight. My hope is that Circa 13 will end up open 24 hours eventually. This coffee house will make it difficult to move away from Austin when the time comes. Cuvee roast is absolutely one of the best roasts ever. This place brews their own Kombucha. F*cking win! The management is pretty good and Ben remembers my name now and it has become a friendly atmosphere for me. The music selection is much more amenable to reading, writing, studying ... and good conversation. Often time Epoch I plays too many rump-thumps selections that distract me from my focus, especially when reading. Hand-crafted coffee selections here rock. No one else does this. Drip coffee does not release the flavor like allowing coffee to steep. The device they use for this allows your coffee to steep and then drain into your cup. Now, I rather would wish they use an Aeropress, but this is good enough. The Aeropress releases the flavor better than any other coffee making device I have ever used. It beats the french press my kilometers. Yes, I said kilometers. They don't use miles in France. I encourage you to try the Las Mingas or San Jose Ocana hand-crafts. It beats the drip ... get your mind out of the gutter folks! I mean drip coffee. My only complaint is the lack of space. They have become so popular that coming in here between 7 and 9pm is futile. Sometimes even later it is still futile. This is good for them but bad for me when I really want to come in. I still leave it 5 total stars. read more

I love sitting out back here with my friends to chat and hang out. Nice small location. I also really love the artwork inside. It changes often and is a great distraction to check out each one on the way in or out the front or rear doors. read more

Super wonderful location! Great for stopping in before or after a movie at the Alamo or after a delicious dinner at Madam Mam's or Shabu! Plenty of comfortable seating (lots of little spaces for conversations!) and wifi too. The bar area is really nice with plenty of beverage options to choose from. I love what they did with the old Texpresso space. It is so much warmer and inviting now. I ordered a red eye and it was plenty hot and delicious. When I turned to the sweetener area, I noticed white packets, brown packets, and pink packets. You know what color was missing? The f$;:ing yellow ones that are the only suitable sweetener on my diet! When I asked the barista about this he gave me some snarky answer in a question. "What's wrong with sugar?" Uh, I don't know, but I bet someone with diabetes could tell you! Really, just stock your shop with Splenda. It's not that hard. read more

Fast wifi, tasty pastries, and plenty of varied seating options. Sometimes the music gets a little loud though. The guys at the counter are quiet but very friendly and helped create an off menu coffee to suit my taste. I ordered the vanilla almond milk latte and fell in love. It's everything a latte should be . Light fluffy and (for me) perfectly sweet. They make their own syrups in house. The vanilla doesn't overwhelm coffee instead complementing it with every sip. The environment is perfect if you want to come study in a cool , laid back atmosphere. The barista was so sweet and patient with me and all of my questions. "What's good here?" "Do u have vanilla almond milk?" Ect. The drink was made in a jiffy with a beautiful latte leaf design to go. I work near the Domain and this is the best coffee shop nearby. Friendly, helpful and attentive staff. I generally get the latte. It's not always consistent, but normally really good. I've also tried the iced mojo and if you need a sweet, creamy, refreshing beverage, this definitely hits the spot. Wifi seems to hold up well too! read more

I work for a large coffee company who's coffee is mediocre. I am always in search of new places who serve exceptional coffee. This place serves exceptional coffee. I got an iced americano and It was not burned or bitter tasting. It was smooth and hearty. They serve a coffee from a local roaster called Cuvee. This place truly us amazing. Not only do they serve awesome coffee they also brew their own Kombucha, which is also really awesome. There is a good amount of seating and has a laid back feeling. I would recommend this coffee shop to anyone and everyone. read more

This is one of my favorite coffee shops. It's in a convenient location and the staff is friendly. I Can usually find a table unless I go during peak hours. You can pay using PayPal and the furniture is nice. I recommend the cortado if you want to get your caffeine on but are wanting something a little more tasty than a strait up espresso but don't want to have to drink as much volume as a latte read more

Workers are usually friendly if not they are monotone ha. Coffee is good but not great. I've gotten used to getting their Sencha tea varieties if not an iced tea. Pastries are ok. I usually go here for the ambiance. They usually play toned down music but it really depends who is working that day and how loud that worker wants the music . read more

I like this place, even though I've recently sworn off caffeine (mostly). The service is nice and the selection of teas and snacks is good. I got a burnt (like, "why did you think it was okay to put these ingredients into the tortilla?," burnt) breakfast taco, emailed them (nicely!) about it, and they gave me a gift card to apologize. I do wish they could better control noise, and have more outlets for laptops, but if you go prepared with headphones and a full battery you'll enjoy your experience. read more

I haven't been to this location in quite some time and I usually try to be fair in my critiques and criticisms. The staff is friendly and courteous and Both locations offer lots of seating options. Specialty drinks are good and best of all the parking is great (big plus in Austin these days). The only beef that I have is the honesty of the staff. Today I visited the Anderson lane location for the first time in a while, made my way up to the front counter and asked the barista how much for coffee refills. She told me 50 cents. I later came back for a refill and she then told me one dollar. Now 50 cents is no big deal and I am hard of hearing but I knew for sure she had deceived me. I gave her the chance to correct herself by asking, "it's not 50 cents"? In which she replied, "nope one dollar"! I then payed my dollar got my refill and sat down. It just bothered me that she looked me point blank in the eye and told me two different things without noticing her mistake or taking fault for it. Good place to visit, I just didn't feel I was dealt with honestly. read more

I had a really great experience tonight. I'm brand new to the coffee scene (I literally had my first cup last week as a 30-year-old woman), so I had no idea what to order, what the differences were, or anything else. The barista behind the counter tonight was a woman named Brittany (my apologies if I spelled it incorrectly!), but she took the time to explain the different coffees they were offering that night, and she made some suggestions as to what to try. She asked if I'd like to watch her make it so she could explain the whole process, and she did! Step by step, she guided me through the process and made a delicious couple of cups for me. She told me what to taste for and then we chatted a bit about other places around town and different places/things I might enjoy trying. The shop itself is clean and comfortable. I spent the evening doing homework in peace. I'll be back regularly, in huge part because of Brittany! read more

I like this place. Good coffee and a nice place to sit outside. But two out of the last three times I've tried to go, they have been closed for some employee event. First time was disappointing. Second time was annoying. Luckily there's another coffee place just across the parking lot. Will probably be going there from now on. read more

Had a great cup of tea here, and I am definitely a fan of their music choice. My only regret is that the tea is a little rich for my blood (price-wise), at $4 - but you do get a perfectly brewed pot that yields *almost* three small tea cups worth of deliciousness. With an equally stunning coffee selection and friendly staff Circa is my preferred spot when I need to get down to business! If you ever are looking to grab a cup of coffee you should give this place a try at least once. I have not had many things here as I feel the only thing I need is the Iced Mojo, but based purely on the Iced Mojo itself I highly recommend it. No need for creamer or sugar it is good to go! Love this place. I'm here at least once a month for group meetups and the like, and it's a great spot to hunker down and get stuff done (except on the few occasions when they've got some, uh, unique background music going on). All their food and coffee choices are tops, though they could definitely increase their gluten-free options. The real standout for me is the staff: I don't think I've ever been to a coffee shop staffed so consistently by friendly, affable people. Came to Epoch tonight to get some work done on my laptop and have dinner. Asked for grilled cheese and was told they were out. If you're a vegetarian, that sucks because the only sandwich alternative is a pb&j which I could just make at home. There are the pizzas, but they look really unappetizing. If you're going to serve food, do it right. Make the sandwiches fresh to order and don't charge people almost $4 for a slice of day old pizza. So we had to leave and go to a restaurant to eat, then come back. That little adventure wasted about an hour and a half of my time. So we get back, order a drink, and settle in only to find that our computers won't connect to the internet. Some kind of network problem. My husband tells the girl behind the counter, and her response is, "Well, mine works. Sorry." Seriously? Not even an attempt to address the problem? Not even to just glance at the router? Nothing? We left immediately after that. A total waste of my night. read more
