It's OK. They use Mexican chocolate for Mochas which pretty much calls into question everything about their coffee expertise. Avoid.

I love this coffee shop, the space is super comfy. However, today, I was subjected to super loud music blasting - it was really obnoxious, trying to work as one of the baristas was singing along to lady gaga and katy perry. So, so glad that one of my favorite coffee joints opened up a new location within walking distance from my house. Even if I had to drive to it, however, I would just for the matzo ball soup. Seriously amazing matzo ball soup! And the coffee ain't bad, either. They handcraft each cup using Cuvee beans (awesome), and the espresso drinks are lovely, just like at the North Loop location. Unlike the North Loop location the furniture is new and nice (no wobbly tables or uncomfortable chairs, plus the upholstered furniture does not appear to have contracted any diseases yet). While you don't get the Heaven and Hell bathrooms, you do get clean, big bathrooms (I should know as I wheeled a big baby stroller in with no problems). So while I don't necessarily want this to become a mommy hangout, I can say that this mommy was pretty pleased. But my kid behaves really well, so if yours doesn't please don't visit the new Epoch and ruin a good thing, m'kay? Thanks. And try the matzo ball soup. read more

The north location of Epoch is cozy, comfortable, and reasonably priced. I'd always rather they turn the music down just a touch, but I get that it's not exactly a library. Parking can be tricky during peak hours (they share a parking lot with Alamo Drafthouse and Madam Mam's). Otherwise, no complaints. I can be just as big a coffee snob as the next person. If I were wanting a particular roast or bean this might be worth a try, but I went in the other day to get a cup of drip coffee for my husband. It was lukewarm and way too expensive. You know how the slightest statement from a employee can set you off? The person who took my order was busy with the specialty orders. She turned to her coworker and asked him if he could ring a drip coffee. By the way they only have one 12 oz size for $2.50. Substitute request: Could you pour a regular coffee for this guy? Would have been a better review but homeboy with glasses and long dark curly hair was so rude. Definitely a better than thou hipster attitude. I never don't tip but this guy seemed so bothered to take my order and answer a simple question. No greeting no thank you. I work in the service industry too, so I usually never tip less than 2 dollars, but I didn't want to tip that dude at all. I wish I could have just tipped the girl who made my coffee. In general, it's a great place, good food and drink selection. But my god are their baristas loud. Do not expect to get any work done while there because it's basically barista social hour. Literally they are the only people you hear talking while in there, and they are practically yelling?! Specifically the black haired barista with glasses, I put in headphones and blast the volume and somehow she still cuts through. She seems to be the only one perpetually carrying out a conversation, sometimes it doesn't even seem like she's talking to anybody... Just being loud for being louds sake. I try not to judge people based off their interests and personality, but being so loud in a place where people are quietly working just seems insane to me. I don't think she should be fired but for the love of god can a manager bring this up with her?? Again, it's not the subjects they're talking about that bothers me, it's just how damn loud they talk about it. Also this same barista seems a bit sardonic, as if she views this job as her and the other baristas versus the customers. We aren't the enemy, you are not better than us, and being a barista IS NOT a personality. be a bit more polite and talk A LOT quieter! Not sure why I still come because she's practically always there and it's always the same. I even came one day late at night and left before I was planning and went to the epoch on North Loop, and sure enough, this barista walks in off shift and starts her routine there. This is my favorite place to drink coffee and work. It's in a nice complex where you can walk around for a break.

I love the atmosphere of this location. It's quiet, lots of tables, good food. Unfortunately I don't care for the coffee, but that is probably my own issue. The hot tea selection is fantastic however. read more

First thing they said when we walked in - no one should every have bad coffee! Can't agree more! I tried the Cortado for the first time and it is now my new favorite drink - it is excellent! I really like the layout of place - it will be a great place to come get away for a few hours and drink some great coffee. Russell's bakery provides their sweet stuff and the sandwiches look good - have not tried them yet but I definitely will. Great addition to this area!!!! read more

Circa 13 is a new coffee stop with a downtown vibe. As an extension of Epoch, I actually found it when epochs was closed for cleaning. The coffee is great, especially the mocha with Mexican chocolate. It was quiet with free wifi and a lunch sandwich, salad and soup bar. I would highly recommend it. read more

I love this place. I'm a college kid, so I like to study here or have a nice conversation. Super chill, generally quiet, especially outside. It's located really close to Northcross shopping center, in other words Walmart, the ice rink, frozen yogurt places and more.. Quite alot of things to eat/do at a generally nice location. To get there on the Metro you can take 323 towards Northcross. I've not had a problem with any employees, they seem pretty chill. read more

This is where I spend at least a little while almost every morning before I go to work. Great espresso; I personally get the americano and a bagel with cream cheese. Great staff, cool local art, good seating and atmosphere. Their breakfast tacos are tasty too, but you really have to get there before ~945 if you want to try them. read more

Over the past few months I've noticed that this Epoch has trimmed back its food offerings and switched vendors. In addition to the usual pastries, they now have pre-packaged sandwiches and cold pizza, which can be reheated. In addition, I feel like the service isn't as good as it was when I first started coming here. I'm not sure why the change, but it's a bit disappointing. I may have to start driving a bit further to try other coffee shops or even a Starbucks. read more

I have been coming here for probably a year now. It has been awesome seeing a crew of hard working baristas make consistent drinks and continually working to out do themselves. If you are looking for great coffee this is the place. The comments on here regarding rude service is ridiculous. What are you looking for? Does someone need to hold your hand, give you compliments on how great you are and smile at everything you say? No! Comparing prices to Starbucks? I am an Espresso drinker and there is no comparison between the two. It makes sense that burnt runny dog shit in a cup would be cheaper, right? I have seen people stand in line, not know what they want, not know what a Latte is, hold up the line and that end of they day not leave a tip for the people who were smiling patiently and helping your dumb ass make a decision. This place is so great. They recently started serving Ritual from Cali, such an awesome roaster. The coffee is wonderful, the artwork is always beautiful, and the baristas are fast and friendly. Specifically, the two tall red headed gentlemen, (I can never tell them apart, sorry!) both are always so funny. I will definitely be returning soon! read more

Had coffee here for the first time after getting shut out of a movie at the Alamo. Not a bad Plan B. It's a welcome alternative to Starbucks and all of their clones. It's roomy, pleasant, interesting things to look at on the walls. And the coffee was superb. My latte had a pretty pattern in the foam! I'll surely go again. read more

Love this place. I usually get the mocha with almond milk. Always good. They serve Tyson's breakfast tacos in the morning. Baristas are always friendly. Plenty of tables and wifi. Great spot to chill or get out of the office. read more

Not enough outlets so if the place is ever decently packed then good luck finding a spot with an outlet. The coffee was ehh.. It looked amazing until I tasted the coffee. It was cold.. Last but the worst thing about this place is their workers. They absolutely have no manners. Austin is all about hospitality. I was waiting on the men's restroom for about 20 mins or more and finally ended up using the women's restroom since it was empty for a while. When I get out of the restroom, one of the workers who got out of the men's room at the same time yells out loudly, "Ayy thats the women's restroom". So I went on saying if you had not used the men's room for an hr I would have used that, I waited for a while before using the women's room. He very loudly goes again saying, "I'm sorry man but thats the women's restroom" (chewbacca's voice and appearance). So yes if you wanna deal with Idiots like that, then please go ahead and deal with em. We live in Austin not Alabama. Dude needs to learn some manners. Never coming here again. read more

i like this place a lot. but......can you please get a little more help in the rush hour morning? i realize i could go to starbucks and wait in the drive-thru 2 blocks away if i wanted "fast service," but this poor guy (awesome attitude & makes some great stuff) needs a few friends to help keep the line down. i've been in about 5 times between the hours of 9am - 11am and see the line about 10 deep. there has only been the one guy taking orders, making the bevs, slicing a few bagels and taking money. at least have one of the guys from the kitchen come take orders or sumthin! so.....i would give you 5 stars but you just gotta get some staff during peak hours! read more
