Yelp has a set character count so here is a shortened version of my review: I brought my PC in with a clear issue: apps crashing, and a Windows reinstall that kept failing partway through. Before bringing it in, I spent 8 hours troubleshooting on my own and narrowed it down to two likely causes -- a corrupted Windows install or a bad CPU. I explained all of this on the phone and again in person when I dropped it off, and was told I'd get a diagnosis the same day. That didn't happen. I had to call an hour before closing just to get an update, and was told to wait until the next day. When they finally called, they flip-flopped on the diagnosis multiple times within a few hours -- first confirming a corrupted Windows install, then claiming it was fixed, then reversing again to say it was still corrupted. They quoted me $90 for a data transfer and $110 for a Windows reinstall. Since I had my own install media, I said I only needed the transfer -- and the price for that alone jumped to $180, with the excuse that it was only "discounted" when bundled with their install. I paid it anyway to protect my files. When I picked up the PC, they assured me -- twice, after I directly asked -- that reinstalling Windows myself at home would work fine. It didn't. I hit the exact same crash I'd described to them from day one. When I called back, they admitted they'd never actually tested the CPU, despite me flagging it as a likely cause from the start. When I asked why I'd paid $180 for a data transfer I didn't need, they gave excuses and contradicted themselves -- first offering free CPU installation (which takes minutes and isn't a real concession), then claiming the transfer would've been necessary regardless, which wasn't true since I could have accessed my files for free from the other drive. When I brought the PC back in, I watched the tech Google my exact problem before telling me they'd "seen this before." The CPU warranty process was its own headache: days of unanswered messages, a lie that it had already been shipped when it hadn't, and them dodging my calls entirely. I called twice in ten minutes and got voicemail both times; a friend called the same number seconds later and got through immediately. The one good part of this experience was an employee named Charlie, who was consistently kind and professional, even helping carry my PC from the car. Everyone else I dealt with was dismissive and dishonest. End result: I paid $180 for work I didn't need, got no refund or compensation for their misdiagnosis, wasted well over a week, and felt completely scammed. I won't be returning.

I then took matters into my own hands, and began investigating my (tech) circumstances. E.G. He recommended I purchase a security suite and a VPN - SEPARATELY (bundling these two items would have gained me a 70% discount). At the same time I learned I had an entire (second) security suite in operation unbeknownst to him and of course myself ... and for the past eighteen months?! Do your tech homework, so you can identify these fakers in advance.

I called up Help with Tech and got an immediate response from Chris, who came by to collect my dead laptop (following proper social distancing guidelines, of course) and take a look at the damage. He confirmed that the motherboard was totally toast and offered to replace it. Chris's service fee was perfectly reasonable, but (through no fault of his own) the manufacturer cost for a new motherboard was more than I wanted to spend--Razer always charges an arm and a leg for parts. So instead I opted to upgrade to a newer device, and Chris pulled all my files from the dead laptop's hard drive. He was extremely quick and communicative throughout the process, helped me through some questions when I transferred the files to my new computer, and even wiped the old laptop after I gave the go-ahead signal. I'm hoping I don't run into any issues with my new laptop--but if I do, I know who I'm gonna call!

My initial appt was confirmed for 2/16 between 2-2:30 PM for a replacement of my back screen. They didn't show up until 3 PM despite texting me they were 'on the way' at 1:50. The tech said it would take 15 minutes to do the repair, almost 40 minutes later he finished. The next day I noticed that my back screen was popping out, like the adhesive wasn't installed correctly. I notified them same day and asked for them to fix it. They said yes but didn't tell me when they would. I reached out again the next day and we made an appt for the following day at 5 PM. I waited until 5:47 and they still hadn't showed. We rescheduled for the next day at 5:15. I sent a text to confirm the appt in the afternoon and they said they were 'sick' and needed to reschedule for the weekend. Final reschedule was Sunday at 4:30, which was confirmed by text message. And again they never showed up. Upon closer inspection I noticed the replacement screen they installed wasn't good quality, the camera cut outs weren't shaped correctly. Ended up going to Apple to have it fixed. Now I'm out $100 for this fumbled repair.

Unfortunately, we did not buy the protection plan from our wireless provider (we never do), so when we came in to see our options, they recommended we come over to CPR Cell Phone Repair to see if they could fix it. Walking in, we were greeted warmly and explained the problem. The person at the desk (I forgot his name, sorry!) was quick to see if they had a screen for his type of phone and gave us a quote, with an estimated time, pretty quickly. The price was fair (much less than purchasing a new phone) and he quoted a wait time of a few hours. We gave him my phone number and moved on with our day, expecting to probably pick the phone up the next day. However, there were no other orders in front of us, so he texted us that the phone was done in a little over an hour and a half, much less time than was quoted! We were impressed by the work, you couldn't even tell that the phone had anything wrong with it. I'm glad to know there's a place near me that has fair pricing and does good work, if we ever need to get something fixed again.
