Duke of Computers is a company that can solve issues. Dan, the owner, is very knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with--a terrific guy. Dell was having trouble transfering files from an old computer to a new one. Dan was able to work with Dell to solve the problem. Dan rearranged his schedual to coordinate with the Dell tech. He came to my house at an odd hours and got it done. While the files were transferring he set up multiple screen operation for my girlfriend's apple laptop. So he knows PC and Apple. Took my wife's laptop to Duke of computers this past Saturday to deal with a corrupted driver issue that I made worse myself. Based on the reviews that I had seen. I think this place is definitely misrepresented by a few individuals. I worked with a couple of gentlemen on the machine. I explained my issues. I explained my troubleshooting processes and as a non-professional in this space they listen to me and provided great insight. After going over a free diagnosis, they provided me my options and explain to me the pros and cons of each approach at which I took them for their word and moved forward with a complete reformatting of my laptop. Picked it up today. Everything's working perfectly and I can't tell you how much I appreciate the patience and the customer service at this location. If anyone is ever looking for work on their custom build computers, busted laptops, or old desktops, i would highly recommend Duke of computers. I cannot speak highly enough of both Eddie & Michael who went above and beyond with me when it came to transferring data from an old computer to a brand new computer for me. Eddie was the first person I met and he was very down and earth, knowledgeable and helpful with my computer situation. He sold me the service I needed and didn't try to up charge me for anything I didn't need. A week later I had a couple of glitches because of Microsoft's programs so Mike told me to come back to the shop. When I got there Mike knew exactly what was going on and he was able to fix it right away because he was having a slow day. Just WOW! Needed my laptop fixed immediately. Sent out a few requests for quotes on Yelp and Dukes answered right away and seemed reasonable with good reviews. I dropped it off and told them what I thought the problem was and a few days later received a call telling me it was actually something else and they would need to order a part, by reaching out to venders locally hoping they could find it fast. If not, it may take longer if they had to order outside the state. They must have found it in state cause I got a call a few days saying it was fixed and I could come pick it up. Not only did they fix my problem quickly and affordably, they also recommended some needed updates. They would be glad to do it for a little extra fee, I could do it myself or bring it back in. My pc was having problems, so i brought it in. They confirmed the issue and after paying the diagnostic fee, they allowed me to take my tower home since i still needed it for work. a few days later i brought in a new part for installation. i dropped it off in the morning and they finished it the same day! The customer service was great and the employees were very friendly. There should be a choice of ZERO stars! Today is Sept 25 and ZERO contact from owner Daniel Albar since we discovered our iMac was trashed at his shop long before we saw it on Sept 13. By Sept 15 he still had not called me to take responsibility. BBB says he has read the complaint I filed with them on Sept 15, and again has done nothing. ZERO response to BBB as well! There's a valid reason Duke of... is not accredited by the BBB. There are previous complaints there, one this month and I just added another. Ethically and integrity challenged! It seems to be 2021 all over again, as I am experiencing exactly what those 1 star reviewers had to deal with back then. The extreme lack of communication, from staff and owner Dan A alike; owner routinely NOT returning phone calls, and now culminating with my pristine 27.5" iMac being carelessly/obviously dropped & damaged sometime since my July 12, 2023, drop off date. This is ongoing currently as I still await a return phone call from Dan A the owner, who somehow has no care/courtesy/ethics to call me and keep me apprised of what's been going on the past two months in his very shop! Plus NOT telling me in the first place my iMac was DROPPED and severely damaged and the screen had to be replaced!! All this because my fan was making a loud noise? Our iMac has been held hostage and damaged beyond our recognition by Duke of Computers since July 12,. Some way to treat two seniors! One a 66 yr old caregiver for my near 80 year old wife and heart patient. Needless to say, this ongoing experience has caused more trauma and detriment to her health, making my job so much harder! Brought my mint 27.5" iMac to Duke Of Computers on 7/12/2023 within one year warranty of previous visit 9/6/2022. My fan they had previously cleaned/supposedly inspected was still making alot of noise. I was going to put this iMac up for sale for $1100, they knew this, but it had to be working perfectly. It was flawless otherwise. The fan was preventing this. I made it crystal clear that this iMac was to be sold. The owner Daniel was at the counter when I brought my iMac in wrapped in a beach towel. It had not one mark on it! I told him exactly what I mentioned above, yet it still took Eddie several days to get back to me to tell me the fan should be replaced. He quoted me over $200 to do so. I was stuck so I agreed to replace the fan. Then, I heard absolutely nothing, not a word, till I finally had to call the store on 8/7. At that time, Eddie told me they were waiting for a new screen as a "new Tech" broke my previous one. What!? ZERO communication from Dukes telling me this! It's now 26 days since I dropped off my machine & ZERO communication to what's going on. (This iMac Is the nerve center of our home. It contains all our business passwords and banking information. Additionally, I am sole caregiver for my wife. Her insurance/medicines run through this iMac. We cannot be without it for too long. I told Daniel A this at drop off) Between 8/7 and 8/22 I made 2 trips to Dukes to see what's going on. Spoke to Michael both times. Still said waiting for new screen. On 2nd trip, Michael said screen was due in next day and I'd have it by end of week. This was about Aug 22. Didn't happen, of course. Put a call to Daniel Aug 28. Did not call me. Called again Aug 30. He finally calls back Aug 31. Acts aloof/irresponsible to my complaints. Now said iMac screen will arrive after Labor Day & he will call me personally when ready. He still DID NOT call! Eddie called Fri Sept 8. We went to pick up iMac Wed Sept 13 & were shocked at the visible damage! Our flawless iMac is trashed! Proof iMac was dropped breaking the screen and severely damaging the case & stand. All value is now gone!! And owner Daniel Albar remains invisible. Absent and ethically challenged. My wife and I are former business owners and this appalling behavior would never be tolerated by us, nor by any of our experienced staff. To sit on the repair of our iMac for two months, hide the fact they carelessly/severely damaged it enough to have to order a replacement screen, and in 2023 when computers are Imperative to conducting home business. PLUS, we're Seniors who's lives have been turned upside down by this surreal lack of ethics & integrity - even by the owner who refuses to not only return phone calls, but to keep the client unaware in the first place of what has happened in his very shop TO OUR IMAC!! Our 2 TB SSD is still sitting in that iMac, in that shop, with all our personal information on it. We cannot condone nor accept the condition in which we found our formerly flawless 27.5" iMac. Duke of... has literally trashed our home office computer and TOTALLY IGNORING US! They won't ignore the coming lawsuit. We will not stand for this abuse! read more

I was in dire need of help when my laptop showed a pop up saying my computer had 3 viruses and I needed to use McAfee to delete viruses. I could not get rid of the pop up and I have already have an excellent virus program (Webroot) which was suggested by Duke of Computers. I called their new location (on Rampart and Lake Mead in Smith's shopping center) and spoke to Jay. Jay was amazing and patient. He walked me through all the steps to get rid of the annoying virus pop up and my computer works just fine. I also did perform a virus scan with the current program I have and no viruses or threats were detected. Once again, Duke of Computers saved my day. I am currently very, very mad. I brought my laptop to Dukes for a hinge repair, and when I got my computer home, I found that it had a yellow-looking light on the right-hand side of my screen. I called, and the supervisor told me it was because the technician had the back of my net exposed to light for too long. So I was told that it would be replaced at no charge. I was told that they had to order the part, and then they would call me when it arrived so I could drop it off to them. About two weeks or so later, I got that call, and I brought my laptop in only to get a call about 2 hours later saying they ordered the wrong part. So when I picked up my laptop I was told they would call me when the right role came in. It's almost three months now, and I have been calling and calling, and all I get is "order was delayed" and "Had to reorder the part." all these excuses, but still no part to fix my laptop. When I went in unexpectedly to check on the part status, the manager just so happened to be in the store, and he told me the same thing: that they had a delay and would call me as soon as it got in. I also explained to him that my screen now freezes, and these bubbles keep appearing when it freezes; I also have a problem with folders and tabs opening by themselves. I had never had any internal issues with my computer before I brought my laptop to them. He said they would look at what is going on when the part comes in, which should be around the 23rd of August. Well, here we are in Sept., and I cannot reach anyone. I have called and called and am still waiting for someone to return my calls. I will not ever refer anyone to this place. I will also report to BBB because this is an absolutely known way to do business. Duke of Computers is a dangerous joke. This is very serious. Buyer Beware! We DO NOT recommend anyone else take their valuable computers full of private info to them! I have to disclose I am a Senior woman with a dangerous heart condition and severe C-PTSD. Needless to say, stress is NOT something I can handle. This ongoing terrible experience is stressing me to the max! The owner "Daniel" of Duke of Computers believes that neither he, nor his staff, are obligated to keep clients aware of what's happening with their computers. He also has the unmitigated gall and temerity to routinely NOT return phone calls, as again is the case currently. The one time he did call on the last day of August he took ZERO responsibility for not keeping us informed as to the condition of our home office computer FULL OF sensitive private information, photos, passwords, banking/medical info, etc. We handed our full size iMac to him personally in early July, in like new condition, and trusted him to keep it safe and repair. IT'S STILL THERE waiting for a call from said owner, in now deplorable condition. Unrecognizable to us after over 2 months of lies by omission and lack of courtesy communication. Deep scratches obviously indicate our computer was carelessly dropped and severely damaged. And all this because we had to return to this wretched place for warranty service as they DID NOT properly repair our fan problem last year! In summary, we get our ONE call after regrettably leaving our iMac at this shop from "Eddie" telling us now we need a new fan. That's one reason it went in last year. We heard nothing since & now had to call over 3 weeks later in early August wondering what was taking so long. Eddie then says they're "waiting for a NEW SCREEN because a tech broke ours." We were never told this! Then 2 more trips to this shop in August and Michael says "still waiting for the new screen." Finally a call from Eddie on SEPTEMBER 8 saying our computer is ready. Owner Daniel promised he would call when our computer was ready. He did NOT call! We couldn't get there till Sept 13 due to my ill health. That's when we see all the damage done to our iMac. Eddie is totally aloof. We tell him this horrific condition is not acceptable and have owner Daniel call us right away. STILL WAITING ON SEPTEMBER 18. Now we are forced to get legal using what little savings we have left. WHY are we, especially Seniors, being abused/targeted for absolutely no reason whatsoever? read more

Just picked up our computer... $5000 computer that we asked them to put together, it was a custom build. Just spent $500 to pick it up and now the fans are not working. Very disappointed. This should have been checked before sending us home with it. Lots of wasted time and wasted gas. Very disappointed... for $500 ... after you bring it home.. it should be working. Over the summer my Dad's laptop broke at the right hinge. I called The Duke of Computers during Covid, but their Lake Mead location was closed because of the shut so we waited until they reopened in September. The computer was dropped off at the Lake Mead location at 10:30am on September 17th. The technician said he would call within 2-3 days with an estimate as to the repairs to the system. He would also run a diagnostic, which I declined multiple times, and I left. The computer had a physical break, not a software issue, and didn't need a diagnostic run on it. Someone called and left a message on Sunday, September 20th around 5pm. The voicemail didn't indicate where the person was calling from, all it said was that an estimate was ready and to please call back. It was surmised that it was about the laptop, and the call was returned within 10 minutes. The call wasn't answered, and with no indication as to hours of operations or what number to call back. You couldn't leave a voicemail at the number, and without further research online, there was no way of knowing when to call back. On September 21st, because of the lack of communication through the phone, I figured it was easier to go down to the store to see what was going on. I spoke to a very nice technician, who said that this was not how they did business, and apologized profusely for the confusion. He told me that he would let the owner know what happened, and explained what was wrong with the computer, how much the costs were, and asked for me to authorize the repairs. Since the parts had to be ordered, the repairs should have taken 6-10 days, and they would give us a call within that time frame. If there was a hold up, or any other issues, we would get a call. At the time of authorization, we were not given a copy of a written estimate for our records. On September 30th, I called at 3.30 and spoke to a technician who didn't identify themselves. I asked if there was an ETA on the repair because it had been almost two weeks. The technician said that on his end it showed October 10th for the repairs but he would give me a call back within 15 minutes with some more information. An hour and a half later I went down to the location where a different technician (The one that I spoke with on the 21st) was working. He was confused because he said that he hadn't received a call from anyone about my inquiring about the laptop repairs. He also informed me that the bottom deck to the laptop was ordered in the wrong color by mistake, but asked if I would be alright with that to speed things along. He apologized profusely about it. The technician said that they were waiting for one additional part but the owner said it was hung up from the manufacturer but it should be in within the next day or two. I asked if the repair would be able to be done by Monday October 5th, because of how long it had already taken. If not I wouldn't be able to leave the computer any longer. I was also told that because of the miscommunication that I would be receiving a phone call from the owner to clear up the lack of customer service from the one technician and to make sure everything was clear. I said that I would come in the next day and have a face to face with the owner to go over everything to make sure we were clear on everything. On October 1, 2020, I went in a little after 10am to see if the owner was in, and to see if the adapter to the mouse had been left in the computer. I spoke with the same technician as I had the day before, who told me that the owner would be in around noon, apologized because the owner said he had called me the day before, and he would call me when he was in. The owner did call around 11.30am, and was extremely rude on the phone. I went over to the establishment, and was met with hostility and rudeness. The owner Daniel was condescending and confrontational from the start. When asked about when the part was ordered for the computer, his response was that he didn't have to tell us that information, it was none of our business. When asked how long he could go without his computer to do his business, his response was, "30 minutes," but when ours was, "you expect us to go three or more weeks," he shrugged his shoulders and said, "it's not my problem, you knew what you signed when you came in the door." When I asked about the customer service skills and how they couldn't say names and leave hours of operations on voicemails, Daniels response was, "It's on Yelp, Facebook and my website, you can just look it up yourself. I don't need to have the techs give you their names, it's not like you can remember them anyways." He was asked how many different stories were going to be given about the situation because at this point there were 5, where he shrugged and said, "What's your point?" His attitude and lack of professionalism about the situation dared us to take our business elsewhere, which is exactly what happened. read more

When my computer shut down unexpectedly, i was kinda stuck. Checked the internals but didnt see anything wrong, took it to the Duke. Free diagnostic, found the issue and fixed it (GPU shorted, sadly, damaged the motherboard) for relatively cheap. They where not able to fix the GPU itself, but they replaced the blown capacitor and got everything else running just fine. read more

I needed to fix my laptop keyboard. I brought it in and they took it in for a free diagnosis to make sure it was the keyboard that needed replacement. They called back within an hour and informed me it was the keyboard and said they could order the replacement part which would arrive within a couple of days (took about a week). Once the part came in, they called and I brought it in on a Friday and they had it done by Monday. Overall, great and quick experience. Rather disappointed with customer service. My first phone call to Dan was a great experience. He even came to my home to evaluate and estimate the problem with my laptop. We scheduled an appointment for me to take it in on Saturday after the construction in front of the store was complete. On Saturday Nathan (I think) called and said construction wasn't complete. They would call me to reschedule. I waited a week, Called and spoke to another employee and left a message for Dan to give me a call. Never heard back. Waited another couple days and I called back. Dan wasn't there so I left another message with Zack (I think). Ok now I'm frustrated but give the benefit of the doubt. I called a third time and left yet another message. Needless to say I've never heard back from anyone. I hope you have better luck with them than I did or didn't as the case may be, Its been over a month. Will try some where else. read more
