On June 3rd, I took my iPhone 12 to this company for repair after calling them on the phone to confirm that they were an Apple Authorized Repair Service shop. Upon arrival my phone was diagnosed with a broken rear camera (internal). I was quoted a repair cost and told that I had to pay that upfront before the part could be ordered. No problem. When asked how long it would take for the part to arrive and then replaced in the phone, I was told 3 to 5 days for receipt of the part and a "couple" of hours for the repair. I paid and left, note that I still retained possession of the phone. After hearing nothing from them by the 9th, I called asking for an update on the part to repair my phone. I was told it had not arrived yet and to give it a few more days. I sent a text on the 12th of June again requesting an update on the part and repair expectation as I had already paid for that service. I was texted a link to FedEx tracking after being told the item was lost in shipping. FedEx showed the item as arrived in Las Vegas sorting center and all info stopped there. I called this repair center again on the 17th asking for additional information. I was told the part was still "lost". I then aske4d that if it was lost, why not reorder the part and fix my phone? I was told that it was against Apple policy to send out a second repair part until the first "lost" part was returned to Apple. When asked how they could return a part lost in shipping in order to get another part sent, I was told that there was nothing they could do to remedy the situation at that point. At that point I became quite irritated and very verbal and informed the repair shop that I paid for my phone to be fixed in the time frame that I was told it would be fixed and that I wanted the service I paid for to be done. This escalated to the shop/business Owner. After a number of days of back and forth as to this shops total inability to effect the repair I paid for and after I spoke with 2 different Apple Senior Advisors at Apple (at the suggestion of the shop owner) I informed the owner that I was taking this to the BBB and to the CFPB. This is part of his response: * After carefully reviewing this repair case, Computer Doctor BG has made the decision to formally cancel this repair request and issue a full refund for the amount paid. * Our management team contacted Apple support multiple times and opened three separate escalation cases in an effort to resolve the shipping issue and obtain either delivery or replacement of the lost part. * Apple support has repeatedly confirmed to us that the delay was caused by a shipping issue outside of our control and that their internal shipment investigation remains active. So---- because Apple will not provide the part that this company claimed they would get to repair my phone, the repair was canceled. So, in my opinion, one should be very careful of having this place take your money for an Apple device repair as the repair my never happen. read more

The only reason we've changed companies is that we moved to Las Vegas from California. One of my concerns, when moving here, was to find a company that worked on Apple products. My 2019 iMac had a faulty hard drive, so I went to the Ann Rd. Computer Doctor BG near my home to assess options. Although they could have replaced the hard drive, after some discussion, I decided on replacing my 21.5" iMac with a larger, 27" refurbished 2019 iMac that had a 1 TB SSD. The store transferred my files and I couldn't be happier! Now I had a larger screen, (and a 5k screen instead of a 4k screen at that), plus a more reliable (and larger) hard drive. The 27" iMac also had a faster chipset and twice the RAM too, so it was a definite Win-Win situation for me. This refurbished iMac is a joy to use, and exceptionally fast. Had been having computer issues for months - it would randomly shut down. Finally I got an error message that said it was the fan. Not wanting to be without my computer very long, I called around and settled on Computer Doctor BG. Brought the tower in and within a short time they diagnosed the problem. It wasn't a visual inspection. The owners responding to my review saying it was a visual inspection and it wasn't. They took the serial number down and typed it in. There's a difference between being upfront with pricing versus being disrespectful. I'm telling you the encounter was not pleasant or respectful. Looks like you are trying to discredit my review, attack my experience and telling everyone to look at the other reviews instead. People can look at other reviews all they want. I'm just telling my experience. How are you going to say you are more certified than Apple? For $249 at Apple I'm not only getting a new battery but they are giving a new keyboard and top bezel included. I have nothing against your business. I'm just telling you honestly. Your best approach is taking accountability and trying to learn from it not attacking. Doesn't matter to me, I got my battery fixed. Also, Apple gave me a free diagnostic and sit down. Go to Apple instead. Less hassling. You could tell they were going to upcharge me $250 for parts and $150 for labor. The kid in front even got my laptop wrong and said I have a 2016 when I have a 2019. I have the box brand new when I bought it with Apple. I first visited these guys in the summer of 2018. They helped me recover the data from a flash drive which I believe was split into almost a wishbone-like way. I was forever grateful. They were great at recovering everything in a timely manner and charged a reasonable price. Fast forward 6 years later, it happened again with a different device. This one was not reading on my laptop but was still fairly intact. You would think I learned to keep backing up all my data but I am only human so I do forget from time to time. Originally I took it to another repair who claimed the data was unrecoverable and said I needed to send it out of state to a facility that is more qualified to handle situations like this. Well, I wanted a second opinion to keep things local so I went to Computer Doctor BG. They were able to help me this time around too. It took 2 days to recover the files, offer a price for the service, and do it. All the while, I learned that I used their services before. But that was so many years ago that I naturally forgot! Just awful customer service; I've spoken to them twice now to get a quote for updating a macbook pro and the people who pick up the phone have a piss poor attitude each time. I'm no neophyte to technology and I have a basic understanding of how to install hard drives and update RAM. The guys I spoke to on the phone now (twice) have been inconceivably rude. Usually, we aim to avoid posting negative reviews unless we are truly disappointed with our experience. My wife recently brought in a hard drive she's had for 10+ years that contained hundreds of thousands of images, documents and videos. The hard drive would boot up at home when connected to the computer, but it seemed there were some errors displaying any data on our Apple desktops and laptops. We never ran into issues with this hard drive before and have kept it fairly protected since my wife had some historical content on it easily worth 7-figures. We figured since the hard drive was somewhat old and quite valuable, that it probably made the most sense to bring it to a professional to fix and extract the data (so that we don't accidentally break or corrupt the drive trying to 'fix' it ourselves at home). We brought in the drive and were told they'd do their best to retrieve the data. They explained there are different tiers based on how complex the recovery would be, but that they would keep us posted along the way. Just a few hours later, my wife received a text saying they were able to recover just under 1GB of data and that they would transfer it to another hard drive. We did find it strange that it was such a small amount of data, but we figured hey it's better than nothing and that means the drive must seriously be broken/damaged then. We picked up the hard drive the next day, brought it home, and took a look at what was recovered. It was in total about 60 images in a folder + 3 freestanding images they recovered, and that was it. When my wife was leaving the store she even asked if the hard drive was basically useless now, and they told her yes. Both my wife and I felt like this couldn't possibly be it, so when we got home and analyzed what they recovered, she even called them and asked if they were 100% positive this was all they could retrieve. They told her yes. Something was just not sitting right with us since we knew there were hundreds of thousands of files and only one small tiny folder was recovered. We knew the drive was never physically damaged, so we were having trouble wrapping our heads around this reality. As much as we were avoiding playing around with the drive ourselves, I took it upon myself to do a few minutes of research and came across a software called Disk Drill. I bought the software, connected the device, followed the prompts, waited a few hours, and to our absolute shock the software recovered tens of thousands of files (photos, documents, videos) from the exact same drive they told us had less than 1GB on it. My wife was on the verge of tears because she literally had the drive piled up with the trash. The thought of her almost throwing away all of this data still haunts her. We would seriously hate for someone else to be told (and believe) there is nothing much to recover on their device. My wife had data that, without exaggeration, is quite historical and valued at a lot of money. We got back hundreds of GB of data (vs the less than 1 GB they told us was all that was there), and we recovered it ourselves at home. Essentially, what they did was only recover a small partition on the disk while never recovering any files from the larger partition where all of the actual files were. At the end of the day, receiving a refund, a credit, a discount or an apology wouldn't save others from going through this, which is why we chose this route. It's not about the $100 we lost for the service, the miles we wasted going back and forth twice, the time we spent going there and back twice (and btw we live in Lake Las Vegas, so it was not close)... It's about the fact that we were truly led to believe that our device was useless with less than 1GB of data available to recover on it, when that couldn't be further from the truth. 2 main takeaways here: 1. Take the time to upload all your content from your hard drive to a cloud. I know many of us believe we are good with a hard drive alone since it feels so secure, but it was terrifying to think she lost everything in the event the drive could have been damaged. Or at least back it up multiple times across 2 or 3 hard drives AND to cloud. 2. Don't waste your time bringing your device in here. The fact that we recovered everything at home, for around the same price, and without wasting time is pretty crazy. We were initially too frightened to try to solve this at home since the drive was so valuable, but it turns out we did a better job problem-solving and resolving the issue than 'experts' or 'professionals'. You probably won't screw anything up (like how we thought we would) because third-party software like Disk Drill is pretty sophisticated and safe to use. I highly recommend the program and am glad I learned about this program in this unfortunate way. We certainly learned our lesson and hopefully this will help save a few people who may be in the same boat. read more

Computer Doctor BG is an Apple authorized service provider, which means they are able to order real Apple parts and not China replacement parts. I was able to confirm this through Apple's website. When I called, I spoke with the manager, Amir, who was straight forward with me about by broken iPhone 12 Pro camera. He quoted me a price and explained the process to me. Because they are Apple authorized, customers need to bring their phone in to run diagnostics tests before they are able to order the part. I did as he instructed, the diagnostic process took about 30-60 minutes. After I left, Apple flagged my phone for an additional diagnostic, so I had to return. Luckily, I was still running errands nearby. The part only took 1 day to arrive and the replacement process itself only took a couple hours. The pricing was reasonable. I would trust Computer Doctors over Apple store. I had zero issues with this repair, whereas in the past Apple Store has lost my data, set my phone on fire during a battery replacement, poor customer service etc. Don't waste your time at Apple Store. read more
