I never write reviews, but this was by far the worst experience I've had with a repair shop. Poor communication, deceptive information to avoid compensating me for their mistake, and a serious waste of my time and money. Yelp has a set character count so here is a shortened version of my review: I brought my PC in with a clear issue: apps crashing, and a Windows reinstall that kept failing partway through. Before bringing it in, I spent 8 hours troubleshooting on my own and narrowed it down to two likely causes -- a corrupted Windows install or a bad CPU. I explained all of this on the phone and again in person when I dropped it off, and was told I'd get a diagnosis the same day. That didn't happen. I had to call an hour before closing just to get an update, and was told to wait until the next day. When they finally called, they flip-flopped on the diagnosis multiple times within a few hours -- first confirming a corrupted Windows install, then claiming it was fixed, then reversing again to say it was still corrupted. They quoted me $90 for a data transfer and $110 for a Windows reinstall. Since I had my own install media, I said I only needed the transfer -- and the price for that alone jumped to $180, with the excuse that it was only "discounted" when bundled with their install. I paid it anyway to protect my files. When I picked up the PC, they assured me -- twice, after I directly asked -- that reinstalling Windows myself at home would work fine. It didn't. I hit the exact same crash I'd described to them from day one. When I called back, they admitted they'd never actually tested the CPU, despite me flagging it as a likely cause from the start. When I asked why I'd paid $180 for a data transfer I didn't need, they gave excuses and contradicted themselves -- first offering free CPU installation (which takes minutes and isn't a real concession), then claiming the transfer would've been necessary regardless, which wasn't true since I could have accessed my files for free from the other drive. When I brought the PC back in, I watched the tech Google my exact problem before telling me they'd "seen this before." The CPU warranty process was its own headache: days of unanswered messages, a lie that it had already been shipped when it hadn't, and them dodging my calls entirely. I called twice in ten minutes and got voicemail both times; a friend called the same number seconds later and got through immediately. The one good part of this experience was an employee named Charlie, who was consistently kind and professional, even helping carry my PC from the car. Everyone else I dealt with was dismissive and dishonest. End result: I paid $180 for work I didn't need, got no refund or compensation for their misdiagnosis, wasted well over a week, and felt completely scammed. I won't be returning. read more

This was my first time with Duke of Computers. They diagnosed my laptop and gave me a fair price to fix everything. Because I was a first time customer, I was also given a discount. Was able to pick my laptop in just a couple days. Friendly guys. They even offered that I could call them if I needed assistance connecting my wifi. They no showed 2 of the 3 times we had a scheduled visit with at our business. Being a small business owner, I do not recommend using them until they get logistics figured out. I've had my MacBook for 9.5 years. She's an old girl but she's a rider. She got me through college, let me stream movies from shady websites on her during my poor days, and has been my work from home device since May 2020. In the past 6 months I've noticed a steady decline in her performance. Last week it took one hour just to load the chrome homepage so I knew it was time I brought her to a doctor lol. I requested a quote for repair on Yelp and Duke of Computers responded quickly with a detailed message. Since their Durango location is super near to me I visited them for their free diagnostic. I dropped my laptop off to Michael on Friday afternoon and picked her up on Sunday at about 1p. Michael explained to me that my hard drive was failing. I could opt for the regular spinning hard drive for $69, or get the solid state drive for $139, both with 1TB of memory. They could install the new one for $59 and clone the old one for $109 so that all my previous data would stay within my laptop. I loved that they're up front with their pricing and there are no hidden fees. All prices are even on 2 tv screens on the wall. I thought about it and decided the Solid state drive was the best option. I figured it was a good investment and would help prolong the life of my laptop. Instead of getting the regular hide drive and possibly run into the same problem down the road. I dropped my laptop back off on Monday at about 1p to Daniel. On Tuesday morning I called and Josh informed me it was ready for pick up at about 11:30a. Josh told me if there are any problems, to bring my laptop back within 30 days. He also gave me my old hard drive just in case I needed to import the data again, if for some reason I thought they didn't do a thorough job. I opened my laptop in the store and GOLLYYYY it's fast! I started it up and usually the power up from a complete shut down takes at least 30 min. I went from log in to Home Screen in like 30 seconds. So freaking fast oh my gosshhh. Opened Chrome and what do you know, Google home page pops up in a snap! Shockingly fast. Thanks so much to the whole team who worked on my l girl. She's running just as fast, if not dare I say better than the first day I bought her. I will tell anyone and everyone about Duke of Computers for as long as I live! read more

So the good things are that it was not terribly expensive to get the work done. They were friendly and got the job done. Ultimately, thats all we want and they delivered. The only area of improvement I could want as a customer is for some more communication and reliability. We dropped off our PC to get fixed, we were told we would get an update within the next 48 hours which we did. Then we were told the computer would be ready for pick up the next day in the afternoon. We showed up for pick up at 1PM, it was not ready upon our arrival, instead we were told it would be ready in the next day or two. Of course we wondered what the issue was, how did it go from the pc being ready tomorrow, to the pc being ready in about 2 days. Days pass and we call to ask if its ready, only to be told there was a family emergency and the tech is out. Which is totally fine! These things happen. But we would have like to have had been informed and updated about this and given a definitive timeline as to when it would be ready. Now at this point we were basically ready to come pick up the PC to go elsewhere. But we gave it a few extra days and then came in to collect. They are scheduled to open at 10AM. We showed up at 1040AM. They were closed. I called and was told that the technician was running late. Then about 10-15 min later, I think the owner comes and opens up. He was nice and apologetic, professional, I liked that. We were informed that the tech was sick and couldn't make it. Again, it is fine if this stuff happens, but for a business, I believe that when you are scheduled to be open, some one should be manning the station. Regardless, we got our computer, it was fixed, he gave a discount, all was good. We would like to come back again in the futre because they did get the job done and they are conveniently near us. I just hope next time that things go more so smoothly. I do recommend this business for your tech needs. read more

Best service I've received in vegas on my computer! And they even picked it up and dropped it off when they were finished! I was having car trouble so I couldn't drive anywhere and they were the only company I saw that could pick up my computer. Very friendly/fast service too! I was thinking I needed a wifi chip installed, but they did a free diagnoses and informed me I only needed a wifi adapter. And the adapter ended up being a lot cheaper than the wifi chip anyway! That's how you know they're a good/honest company when they try to save you money and offer the best advice for your devices. I appreciate honest companies like this. DOC really saved the day in my panicked state when my LCD laptop monitor went out; they were responsive even after hours, the were patient with me even when I was not, they were the most affordable, they completed work start to finish in what I thought was a timely manner given the circumstance, and best of all they pick up and deliver for free all with kindness and a smile. I honestly thought it was time for a new computer - I bought my MacBook Air in October 2019. It was taking FOREVER to open any websites or docs out of my Dropbox. Typing had a delayed reaction. I thought the fan had died. And those are just the bigger issues. I was ready to head to the Apple store when I decided just to call someone local and see what they thought. So I Googled "computer repair near me" and Dukes of Computers showed up! When I called they said I could bring it in for a FREE diagnostic (which would mean leaving it overnight) or I could pay $119 for a tech to come to me and determine the issues right then. They also said the tech fee would be applied towards any needed repairs (which I knew would be required IF they thought there was even a chance of fixing it). I set an appointment for the next morning and Dan showed up right on time (does that EVER happen in today's world??). He did tell me by operating system needed to be updated (I thought Mac's did that automatically but it turns out they don't) which would take 4-6 hours so I let him take the computer back to their shop. I told them it is my lifeline to my work and that I couldn't live without it for long. Turns out I did have to leave it with them over night but they had it ready by 10am the next day! I don't know what magic juju they used but my Mac is a good as new! And my bill was less than $300. I will DEFINITELY refer Dukes of Computers to anyone!!
