For many years I had the same plumbing company do all my work, and they were always reliable and honest. They sold their business and I am in the unfortunate position of finding a new plumber, so I called Foster Plumbing and Heating Inc. If you want to be scammed, call Eric Foster Plumbing and Heating. When I called them to make an appointment for routine maintenance of my year-and-a-half old AC, I was quoted a price of $225. Nothing was said about this being an hourly charge or about other charges. I have been having furnace and AC maintenance done for about 60 years and the charge for this work has been a flat fee. The work generally takes an hour or less. The only additional charge I have ever had o pay has been $10 for a filter if I did not supply my own. When I got a bill for $432, I was sure it was an error, so I called them to request a corrected bill. It was then that I was told that the $225 was an hourly fee. Since the technicians had not been at my home for more than an hour, the charge was still more than I had been quoted. I was then told that they had been working at my home for an hour and 15 minutes, so I was charged for an extra 15 minutes. However, Foster has a strange kind of math as they charged for a half hour for those 15 minutes. That would be $112.50 for that "extra" 15 minutes. Add to that the $94.50 which I was told covered the cost of the liquid used to clean the coils. Pretty expensive liquid, something I have never been charged for in the past!! I was also not told that there would be an additional charge when I made the appointment. I supplied my own filter. As an added "bonus", when I turned my shower on the next morning I was bombarded with ice cold water. Fortunately, I determined that the water heater temperature had been turned off by the technician and carelessly not turned back on. If it had been necessary to call Foster to solve this problem, I would have been billed another $225 or more. I am a senior citizen living on a fixed income, and I live alone. It is necessary for me to be able to hire reliable and honest workmen. Foster Plumbing and Heating certainly will not go on my list of honest and reliable workmen. read more

$225/hr for labor. I will repeat $225.00 per hour for labor. A routine maintenance that cost $325 in 2021 is now $847. I came home that night after the routine maintenance to no heat. After the emergency call because they left us without heat in the middle of February, it took 2 more visits to finally repair the problem. It seems very fortuitous for them that all these parts failed just because of routine maintenance. The unit was functioning just fine before. A week later, we get the bill. $1649. Needless to say, we were floored and outraged. 2 line items: $847 for a Rinnai maintenance (which left us with no heat). $799 for to replace 2 parts and unplug another. In 2021, the routine maintenance cost $325. 62% increase in 2 years. I called them to question the increase. They charged us for heat only not a combo unit in 2021. Yeah, so the tech in 2021 didn't know what he was working on? Really? So we got a price break in 2021, how generous. We requested a more detailed invoice. All they did was divide each with labor, no price for the parts. We were always good with using Eric C Foster for HVAC but after this visit we will be looking elsewhere. I get Rinnai's are a pain to work on, but for $1649 we could almost buy a brand new unit. read more

The plumbers who replaced my water heater were fantastic - professional and knowledgeable. However, the person who answers the phone is so rude, that I don't think I will use them in the future. I called as a courtesy to tell the office that the inspector arrived early and they didn't need to send the plumber out and she rudely bit my head off, cut me off and assumed that I was called to find out the arrival window. I then had to call back to pay my bill and she started a fight with me! I gave her the credit card number, she said she would read it back to me. When she did, two numbers where incorrect, so I told her. She then argued with me that she read the correct numbers(apparentlly I was hearing things). When I asked her what her name was, she hung up on me. You would think a person would be nicer when getting payment for a 5k bill. This person should not be dealing with customers in any capacity. read more

Contacted Foster's for a minor leak that overnight turned serious. From the ladies in the office (Deb and Linda) to the technicians they sent to our home (Kyle and Kevin) they were AMAZING! The ladies got me on the schedule for the minor leak within a couple of days but as quickly as I contacted them to advise it had gotten worse the plumbers were here (within the hour) absolutely awesome customer service guys! Anyone with an older home knows that once you open things up for one repair other things may also be found, just to be expected. These guys found issues that I was completely unaware of (leaks in another bathroom) and addressed them while here, completely unexpected and so very appreciated, saving me additional damages and in my opinion money since they could have waited for me to call for the other bath in a few weeks when I'm sure I would have noticed the leak. They took the time to explain things as they went and were extremely polite and courteous. They left the areas better than they found them cleaning as they went along and even confirming before they left that I was satisfied. Would have given 10 stars if I could have! read more

3/4/22 Update: I contacted Jared Foster directly with my concerns and he immediately scheduled a more senior plumber to come out and replace the still-leaking shutoff valve and check the rest of the toilet over, at no additional cost. So great customer service after a bad initial experience. I can understand why they didn't initially send a more senior plumber for a simple repair, but it still required extra time and effort on my (and their) part to get the job done right. Jared informed me that the original employee has since been let go. Also, making it clear ahead of time that they charge for travel time would help manage expectations. So 5 stars for the 2nd repair and customer service, but a point off for the bad initial experience, the surprise travel charge, and the junior apprentice not wearing a mask on the 2nd repair. read more

We have used Eric C Foster Plumbing several times. They have connected our gas range, replaced an old hot water heater and replaced a leaking thermal expansion tank. Each time was the perfect experience. They were "extremely" responsive when our basement filled with water from the leaking thermal expansion tank. Just what you want when your basement has been flooded and you have no water because you had to shut it off to stop the leaking. Every time they have come to the house, all the technicians were pleasant and polite. They have always been extremely diligent and competent in the details of their work. They are professional and neat in the execution of the tasks they have performed. They also cleanup completely, with the work area being returned to the condition it was like before whatever the issue was that brought them in for service. Actually, the work spaces were left in better shape than what they found when they arrived. Their pricing has always been good value for the product and service received. They are the only plumbing company I use. You really need to give them a call if you want quality plumbing services. read more

Was charged $100 for 20 minutes of "work". They moved my dryer over 3 inches, moved my washer over 3 inches. Saw that there was a leak in my washing machine drain hose and did not even have the part on their truck to replace a generic washing machine drain hose. Minimum charge is usually $185 so I guess I should feel lucky that they only charged me $100? read more

I am writing this review in regards to being very unhappy with this company and how they were and interacted with my 75 year old father and his need for a new water heater and piping they came in and told him he needs so much more than he really needed overcharged him made him feel obligated to get other things done that did not need to be done and he ended up paying three to four thousand more than he would have had these people not gone in and done this to him I feel very horrible for my father I feel sad that somebody would take advantage of such an elderly man like them especially where he has served his country in the military and I just don't think it's proper and anybody who can support that is really horrifying to me I think it's just a disgrace read more

The worst plumbing and customer service experience that I have ever had. Hired to install a new faucet and drain for my kitchen remodel, and at the end of the job the Senior Plumber yelled "Oh no", told the Nashoba Tech intern to get the biggest screwdriver and hammer that he could find in the truck, and then proceeded to pound the drain and pop up with the screwdriver. Left a bent pop up and misaligned drain. I noticed it the next day when the drain kept gurgling after we used the faucet and I inspected the pop up. I could not believe that they would leave a job that they knew was not done right- and, even worse, with a Nashoba Tech High School student watching. The Customer Service was also terrible. I called with my concerns and they assured me that someone would get back to me- they did not- and sent the bill to Collections after assuring me that would not happen. Customer Service Manager Jared Foster could not have been more arrogant and condescending, and told me "This conversation is over", after a series of emails- never bothering to pick up the phone to hear my side of the story. Then they charged me over $233. dollars for this fiasco- never offering any compensation or consolation. Worst ever- maybe they were better when their father was running the company. read more

I called for service for my toilet. It was running constantly. Two men showed up and walked into bathroom said oh that's easy it was a ring that seals the the plunger. He said " I have one right in the truck. It cost like $3 no biggie". They were there for 5 mins total! That is the complete truth 5 min. I ask about the bill and he says oh they will send it to you. When I got the bill it was for $198.00. I couldn't believe it, must be a mistake. No that is what they charge! So, I called and spoke to the rudest woman in the world! She says "well it's $150 just for the consult. I said I was never informed about that. She said well yep that's what it costs. I asked to speak to someone else. She said " that would be the owner and you are definitely not talking to him. I am a single mom and I work just like everyone else. The water heater at my office was installed by them Sep 2017 started leaking/failed Jun 2020, not even 3y. It supposedly has a 6y warranty on it. Used them twice. First time was a simple valve replacement. Second time was to fix/replace a toilet wax seal that another plumber had screwed up. Plumber and his assistant arrived early and went right to work. Did excellent job. Plumber explained the wax seal had "rotted out". Previous plumber should have replaced it. I did not hire Foster for a furnace replacement for one basic reason. Their estimate had this statement in it: "Owner to carry necessary insurance". They would not remove it. My homeowners insurance specifically excludes work done under contract. I could not hire this company and cannot recommend hiring any contractor that expects the homeowner to carry insurance for their work. read more

I found everyone from the office staff to the plumber and apprentice to be friendly, professional, and responsive. In addition, I thought the team that did the work was efficient.
