The food is absolutely delicious no question about that. Unfortunately, the ordering process and wait times have been a recurring issue during our visits. The last few times we've come, we've waited nearly an hour before receiving our food. On our most recent visit, we decided not to stay after overhearing a nearby table mention they had been waiting almost an hour just to receive service. The quality of the food keeps us wanting to come back, but the current layout and ordering system don't seem to work efficiently for the space and volume of customers. I think some adjustments to the ordering and service process could make a huge difference in the overall customer experience. I truly hope improvements are made because the food itself is worth the visit. read more

What is going on with this place? Erick's tacos used to be a pretty good place to eat and unfortunately over time the food quality has suffered. Service haha, it took us one hour and twenty minutes before some of our food came out and as I write this we are fifteen minutes shy of two hours. All this on a week day. Love us some Erick's! We've been coming for over a decade, and it's so good! We especially love their Al pastor mini tacos, their big burritos, their corn in the cup, plus their super spicy green salsa is amazing! They just added a small play area which is the best addition for young families. I hope they keep it because it really made dinner time out smoother for our fam. OMG! My 3rd time coming here. A BIG fan of the OTHER location. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of this location. But tonight changed my tone! They just added birria tacos and (damn) they were awesome. I got the dinner special with a manzanita. It was al pastor mini tacos with cheese and grilled onions. The tacos were very good, I'm always looking for this exact taco when I buy mini tacos. Only con was that some of the meat was really crispy like it had been cooked too long but it was few pieces. The charro beans weren't my favorite though. Of course, if you live in San Antonio, know about Erick's tacos?! We would literally take a late night 20 minutes drive to the original location because the tacos were that good, so when we heard this spot was coming, and five minutes away from our home..we were eager! The restaurant is off a semi main road and pretty easy to find but the building doesn't face the street, so the parking is in "the back" and not directly off the main road of 1103. Once you actually make it in to the restaurant, it's roomy, larger than I expected. Clean and well decorated. There's actually two lines you can order from, main line and the Dessert line off to the left, you can order main food from there as well. Customer service was friendly and attentive. Food came out in about ten minutes, not bad especially considering it was about 6pm and line to the door. Prices were just above average, not outrageous and making us want to leave but pricey-ish. Food looked good, the chicken mini tacos were a little skimpy but looked good. My quesadilla looked good. Taste, it just didn't Hit right. It was mediocre. Nothing to drive 25 minutes out of my way like the OG spot, maybe not even enough for me to drive five minutes away for. Now I know they just opened, so I will return in a few months once the newness settles. I hope they will be back to one of my favorite taco spots. read more

Being a resident of Cibolo we frequented Erick's Tacos almost weekly since they opened this location. So much that some of the staff even recognizes us. After New Years we had a bad experience with some no flavored soup but chose to overlook it since everyone is entitled to an off day.... Recently we had family visiting and hyped up this location so much mostly because of the Erick's margarita. So we took them and had the worst experience we have ever had. The bartender was so rude and the margaritas were HORRIBLE!!!! We were treated with nothing but attitude our entire visit. We asked to speak to a manager or the owner and were told they don't have one and when we asked another employee she pretended to not speak English. Needless to say we left our drinks and food on the table basically untouched and will never return. read more

The food here is amazing ! Authentic Mexican food and not tex-mex. Reasonable priced. The margarita flight was great to share between four of us, also not many places have carne asada and it was delicious. We have been here a twice. The first time was about 2 1/2 years ago the most recent was last week. We really really wanted to love it but we were just disappointed and lost $75. In this economy that is a lot of money for a lackluster or poor experience. 1st- it took a long time to get anything other than water and even longer to get our food and it was NOT BUSY I looked at the time we ordered and when we got our plates...47 minutes just sitting there. 2nd- FOOD... the birria tacos were SOGGY like they were rushed when cooking or sat too long, the food was over priced and 3 of our plates came out cold. Not luke warm, but "did they take this from the fridge" COLD. The al pastor taco meat tasted old like they cooked a day or two before. We sent two plates back and they came back still cold at that point we just took the loss and gave up. 3rd- it was over priced for the experience and quality of food, it borderline made us all feel sick. 4th- the atmosphere is great! The look is so well done inside. I wish they had put the same amount of effort into training staff and food quality. read more

What a hidden gem! We were checking out nearby Buc-ee's in New Braunfels and someone recommended this place for great tacos. We ordered chips and salsa and guacamole, and chicharones and they were to die for. Try the carne asada tacos! The flour tortillas were handmade and so fresh and tasty. So - we've been going to the original Erick's Tacos on Nacogdoches Rd for years and LOVE the food. When we saw there was one coming to Cibolo we were happy but also wondering how they would duplicate the food. We found out - they didn't - and that's NOT a good thing. I normally order the crispy taco plate at the original one - the meat in them is amazing. Here, I got one in a tortilla with no lettuce, tomato or cheese - literally meat tossed in a tortilla. I ordered the Chimichanga plat with barbacoa. The meat was ok - not great. The rice had zero flavor and the beans - again, they changed something because their beans at the original Erick's are flavorful - these - bland and I didn't eat but two forkfuls. My wife had the gorditas - the Gordita shell had a good flavor - and that's where the flavor ended. The meat had zero flavor. To say we were very disappointed is an understatement. They've turned a great thing into a fast food restaurant combo and honestly the food isn't good. We will go back to the original Erick's and hope the food hasn't changed. First things I noticed was the customer service needs work. They'll see you standing at the counter and will ignore you. A simple acknowledgment will go a long way instead of keeping the customers waiting. The wait was extremely long ( over an hour) but when your food is being made fresh why complain. The Erick's Tacos in Cibolo is good, not as good as the food trailer on Nacogdoches Road but still very good. Was a bit let down because the green sauce that is their trademark sauce to me was watered down to where it ran right off the quesadillas that we'd gotten. All 4 plastic containers were the same. Hit, meh, miss. Consistency is something we all chase in life but for me it's all about the food. First visit was amazing as the loaded nachos did not disappoint. The beef could have been more melt in your mouth but we let it slide because the flavors were absolutely there. Second visit was more of a mediocre visit that really didn't scream come back again as the food was not memorable. However, living on the first taste of good food we went back again and brought a guest with us. Bad experience as the plate she ordered was not what she actually ordered because of a miscommunication. I went with my make or break dish which is the chili relleno and I left thinking I may never return. The relleno was warm at best, the cheese not melted and firm like it was a block of cheese. Don't get me wrong, I love eating an occasional end piece of a block, you know the part that you can't really grate (you could but live a little and eat the cheese). I can say the green salsa was fire and has always been one that I enjoy. Sadly the table came in with high expectations but left on a sad note. The nachos came late and did not have jalapeños, guess supreme doesn't mean the same thing. Slight oversight on our part but the chips seemed stale and not very appetizing. The best guess I have is they made to much on the weekend and just put it on our plate. The chicken though was flavor. Flavor is there for sure.
