I saw Erik when he was with a different medical group (who I won't name). I developed a severe skin condition and was referred to him by my primary physician. When I walked in, he immediately knew what I had and got me started on some serious meds right away. Not wanting me on these medications long-term, he started me on a biologic, and he fought my insurance for over a year when they denied what he prescribed. He also ensured I had plenty of samples of this (expensive) medication while we continued to appeal. This was a lifesaver for me since my condition was so bad I could hardly walk, and this biologic gave me life back. When he left the practice, the mismanagement at this office just got worse. This place was a cattle call, and the new doctor couldn't keep up. They overscheduled patients to the point where waiting times grew to over an hour, and people were lined up in the hallway. It was obvious he was the one holding the place together. I'm now seeing a new physician, but I am grateful to Erik for the care he provided to me while at the other practice. I wish I could have moved with him to this location, but unfortunately, it's not in my provider network. I wish him all the best and would definitely recommend him. read more

This experience was terrible. It took me a long time to get over my fear of going to a dermatologist and talk about my melasma and vertical wrinkles between my eyebrows. I made an appointment over the phone, and shared exactly what I was looking for. When I came into the office, and saw the doctor he spoke about the melasma, within 15 minutes he was walking out from the examination room, and I mention I had more questions. He quickly walked out and said I need it to speak to another doctor regarding the vertical wrinkles. I shared with the CNA I was very confused on what was happening since I was very clear on the phone and the form you fill out in the from what my questions were. She walked me to the counter not knowing what to say to me and the front desk person say "its $125.00" I am still beyond shocked! There was no notice of fee for consultation, over the phone nor when I filled out the paperwork before the appointment, I was told over the phone there was no consultation fee my questions were NEVER answer, NOTHING was addressed, and I paid $125. The only comment they mention was "Its usually $150, and we are giving you a discount" I will never recommend this place, if you go ASK FOR THEIR FEE'S AND CONSULTATION TIME ALONG WITH THE QUESTIONS YOU NEED ANSWER! read more

My first visit I was pretty much in tears with frustration bc of my condition that I chose to keep neglecting bc of the lame care and unsuccessful treatments from other doctors. If I could give 10 stars I would! Erik Sorenson is the BEST PA I've had. I've struggled with acne my entire life and been to countless dermatologists who prescribed cream after cream and wash after wash with no results. After a couple visits with Erik I decided to go on accutane and couldn't be happier with the results. Erik was there literally every step of the way with a solution to all my symptoms including dryness and sun reactions as well as making sure my bloodwork was completed within the 7 day window and my pills were sent to me via priority mail. I came to Erik based on the Yelp reviews and I can confirm that the hype about him is real. When I first got to his office, I filled out some paperwork and was seen right away. I didn't have to wait to be seen which was really nice. His staff are all really nice and friendly. You can tell that Erik really wants to help people. I've been a loyal patient of Erik Sorenson since I was referred to him back when I was in High School. At 17 years old, I was diagnosed with severe acne, and I even had cysts on my face. My wife, daughter, and I see him for both our preventative needs and cosmetic needs. Erik Sorenson is not a dermatologist or a doctor - he is a physicians assistant who is authorized to perform some dermatological procedures by the dermatologists at Beach Cities Dermatology. I have been to several doctors since I was operated on by Erik Sorenson (who I addressed as doctor many times and was never corrected) who have expressed shock at the track marks caused by poor surgical technique (in their words). I was also not made aware of surgical options that would have likely reduced scarring in a sensitive area. I think of Sorenson most days when I look in the mirror and it is unacceptable that patients continue to mistake him for a doctor. read more

I travel almost a half hour to see Erik Sorenson. A few years ago I developed a skin condition on my face that no one could figure out. I went from having almost perfect skin to the polar opposite. I went to dermatologist after dermatologist that seemed to never listen and put my skin in a state that was worse than we began. I was given multiple lotions and potions that were not only expensive but ineffective. I felt hopeless and came to terms that I would have to live like that for the rest of my life until I met Erik Sorenson. We started from square one. He took his time a really listened to my concerns. We started on a treatment plan than started to work. I had a few hurdles to overcome but at everything turn he was there tweaking the regimen. To date my skin is almost 99% back to normal. Although I don't see him now on a weekly/ monthly basis he still goes out of his way to follow up with me almost monthly to make sure my skin is still on track.
