I have been going to Dr. Heller for 6-7 years now. I have a lot of dermatology issues because of pale skin and many sunburns as a child. Dr. Heller is knowledgeable, intelligent, and has a pleasant personality. He did excellent work removing a squameous cell carcenoma from my face -- removing all of the cancer was a success, and you can barely see any scar what so ever! The face is always an important area for a surgeon to do quality work, and I'd recommend Dr. Heller to anyone. Mischa is an excellent doctor as well, she filled in a couple of appointments during the pandemic. I had one procedure which had a large copay, and the office staff allowed me to break up the balance into a few payments. Very nice office staff. I still have a raised pink and purple scar from a small cyst removal from nearly 3 years ago that my current dermatologist has said was completely unnecessary and could have been treated without incision. I have been going to Dr. Heller since 2009. Dr. Heller did a great job removing excess skin on my left eye. I have also had him do removal of sunspots and help and treatment for hair loss using supplements and liposuction. Dr. Heller is an excellent doctor who is very knowledgeable and who won't hesitate to refer you to another doctor if he feels another doctor could do a better job. I have been to other doctors over the years before and since and I have not found a better doctor. I have Kaiser but I would rather pay out of pocket to have my skin care and sun spots removed by Dr. Heller so that it's done properly. read more

This review is for Dr. Misha and her wonderful physician's assistant (didn't catch her name). I called in yesterday to schedule a first time appointment, and luckily for me someone had canceled so they squeezed me in same day. I have battled really awful eczema my whole life, and am usually just told to take allergy medicine and prescribed hydrocortisone. This is the first time in 25 years someone has taken a skin swab, and asked someone else in for a second opinion. I started on two oral medications and two creams last night and I almost can't believe the improvement i'm seeing today. I have been relying upon Heller Dermatology for treatment of recurring skin problems for approximately the last 20 years. Dr. Alan Heller and Dr. Misha Heller are both extremely knowledgeable, professional and very efficient. I consider them outstanding dermatologists. Over the years I have had precancerous and cancerous growths, mostly on my face. Dr. Heller has expeditiously removed all of them with very little pain and absolutely no scarring. I highly recommend Misha Heller, MD. She is a consummate professional, listens to my needs, gives different options with my best interest in mind and explains everything thoroughly. I go yearly for full body checks, and feel confident that any pre cancerous moles or minor skin cancer that arise will not be able to grow into big medical problems. I have been coming to Dr. Heller for a few years now. And yes the wait can be a bit long, however he is worth the wait. A couple of years ago, I couldnt get an appointment with him for 3 weeks, so after I made an appointment with him, I went on yelp found another Dr and made an appointment with her for the following day. This was the worst mistake I could have made. I had a little bump on my lip that I didnt like, so she cut it off to biopsy. Problem was it started getting swollen. I immediately went back to her and should her and she said it was fine, I asked her if it was infected she said no. I went back a few days later as it had gotten worse and bigger! I looked like a witch with a giant wart coming down my lip. When I told her to fix it or give me something, she told me that she would recommend an Ear throat doctor, wtf! Luckily I never canceled that original appointment with Dr Heller. I went to my appointment and explained what happened. He gave me antibiotics and told me that he would have to cut my lip and give me stitches after the antibiotics. I went from only needing 1 stitch originally to now needing 4. And to top it off the first Dr didnt even get the original bump that needed to get biopsied! Anyways, I got my little surgery done on my lip, with the help of his son (who i think also does plastic surgery). My lip now looks like I never had anything wrong with it! cant see any stitches or anything! After this I learned my lesson and know to only go to Dr. Heller. He is worth the wait. Recently I had some bumps on my leg for 6 months that I got while in peru. I thought it would have gone away but didnt. I'm going to leave a review for both Father and daughter as they have both left an impression on us! After two previous dermatologists the Heller's were our third opinion on a mole my son has on his scalp. With my family history of melanoma and his young age I wanted someone with an experienced eye to give us advice on his mole and we got exactly what our guts were looking for and more. Now days you go on yelp or google to find reviews and dermatology can be tricky as most of what comes up is cosmetics those are typically the ones people first go see are those high rated dermatologists who are very good with cosmetics. Even as a nurse practitioner myself we have a hard time finding good dermatologists to refer our patients to that are both good at skin which is the bulk of our referrals and then lastly cosmetics. I was so impressed with the way these two work together and the fact that his daughter works along side him tells you a lot about her respect towards her Father who she quotes "is an amazing surgeon" which was why I chose them after doing a very thorough research to find them. Your first choices on google or yelp are the cosmetic centers but if your needing a great derm for legit skin issues well, then they are your people not only amazing at what they do but extremely friendly, personable (all the staff), and very professional! I couldn't have been more pleased with them. My son is only 4 and his mole is on his scalp which makes a bit more tricky, we left the office with not one tear from him! Misha MD played his favorite movie lightening McQueen for him and both herself and her MA sang to him "life is a highway" making his experience that less traumatic! This family practice is a hidden gem we will be bringing our whole family here and will be referring our patients to them this was an amazing experience they go above and beyond what is asked from them and for that I am extremely grateful! I was in the building and decided to stop by and schedule a consultation. Dr. Heller was able to see me immediately. His daughter accompanied him in my consultation and I felt like they were both very attentive and honest about my skin. I was prescribed an oral and a topical treatment, as well as a an over the counter face wash. Consultation was $125.00 which was not bad in my opinion. Dr. Heller's office is located conveniently across the street from my office so I went there about a skin tag on my shoulder. I only had to wait a very short time to go in the exam room and the doctor came in right away. He examined the tag, gave me a shot of lidocaine, and sliced that sucker off. He lasered it for good measure and he then proceeded to take his laser to any smaller blemishes and skin tags in the area. I thought that was pretty cool. I showed him some other things I wanted taken care of and he said I should come back to get those done as I had gone through enough for one day (the laser is kind of painful - ok ... it burns like hell). I have gone to him several times since for various things, including removing a mole on my eyebrow. Everytime, he throws in some extra touch-ups and then sends the tissue for biopsy. After every visit, I kept expecting to get a big bill after my insurance covered their measly 70% but I don't think I ever got one more than $35! Pretty cool. He also does lots of cosmetic skin procedures. I don't know how much he charges but I would wager it's a good price. read more

I recommend to save your copay and not see this "Doctor" as he has no idea what he is talking about. He is good at guessing at what can be wrong with your skin discoloration but has no real clue. What he does do is push bleaching cosmetics on you because he needs to sale some kind of product. It's Disgusting how far doctors go to make someone bleach themselves. I'm very happy with Dr. Heller and highly recommend him. As one example, I've had a wart on my finger for 15 years. I've spent a couple thousand dollars on medical and OTC treatments to try to get rid of it. All of my other doctors -- including the PCPs and 3 dermatologists -- tried to freeze it off and recommended freezing/acid/abrasion. I asked each one to cut it out but they all felt it would not succeed. Dr. Heller had the experience and wisdom to know when to treat this skin condition aggressively. He cut out the wart in about 5 minutes. It's finally gone. Having had gone to another dermatologist for a few years and having to wait over an hour to see my former dermatologist, I thought I would try Dr. Heller. After filling out the paperwork, my wait time was minimal before being taken to an examining room and within minutes Dr. Heller came in. His inspection of my skin was quite through. He found a questionable growth, told me he was going to do a biopsy and send it to the lab. I then had Botox injections that cost fifty dollars less and the injections, surprisingly, didn't sting as they had under my former dermatologist. I strongly recommend Dr. Heller. read more

If there was an option for "No Stars" I would use it. I am reporting this man to the State Medical Board as well. While I see some of the reviews discuss Doc Heller's abruptness and others call it efficiency... Personally I just think its his God Complex that he knows everything. I went to see Doc Heller based on a friends recommendation. A friend that was losing his hair and Doc Heller diagnosed him with alopecia areata after a few other Doctor's had told him it was just male pattern baldness. WHAT. A. WASTE. OF MY MONEY, MY TIME AND 3 MONTHS OF EFFORT. The man diagnosed me by doing nothing more then LOOKING at me. I treated based on his recommendations for scabies. Still had the problem. Went back; 2 minutes to look at me... new diagnoses, ringworm... more meds... Still had the problem! Went back... 2 minute look at me, Looks like the same original problem, scabies must have come back... more meds... This time I asked for testing. Was told no testing was needed, he had 30 years of experience and "had never been wrong." (Yes, he said that!) Okay, so now 9 weeks into my issue and still in sever pain and discomfort. My life torn apart with the medications, missed time at work etc... my house destroyed after 2 rounds of scabies washing for everything! AND STILL HAVING THE PROBLEM!! STILL IN PAIN!! So I went back in, but I also scheduled a 2nd opinion appointment... When I got there I WAS AGAIN TOLD PROBABLY RINGWORM.... I requested TESTS. I wanted proof. I wanted a new diagnosis... I was informed that my diagnosis was "Have you ever thought that you may be coming in for attention?" I WAS SHOCKED! I was in pain! And could not believe a Doctor would say this! He continued by telling me I needed to consider an antidepressant and that he would like my therapists number so he could call them and have my medications increased. I left in tears so bad I almost threw up in the parking lot. This was said at his front counter in front of his staff and anyone that was in the waiting room! How does this NOT violate HIPPA Laws? I went to see the new Doc 2 days later. She has been AMAZING! She didnt just LOOK at me, she listened to ALL my systems... Something Doc Heller had said "That wouldn't have anything to do with scabies or ringworm." The new doctor immediately biopsied the visual areas and requested copies of my blood labs... she let me know that until I was out of pain, we would just keep looking. She suggested this sound more systemic and it it was definitely NOT either scabies or ringworm. She even took the time to look at the pictures of my previous marks for comparison, that Doc Heller had diagnosed just by looking at me. Yesterday I got my results back, only 10 days after seeing the new Doctor. Urticarial vasculitis, with evidence of Leukocytoclastic vasculitis. Not scabies. Not ringworm. He was so great, I brought my 4 year old in to see him for some eczema questions and after following his advice - we got it cleared up in a jiffy!
