But I specifically wanted to recognize Alejandra, who helped handle the appeal process for a prescription that was initially denied by my health insurance provider. She kept me informed throughout the process by phone and email, followed up when she said she would, and was consistently responsive, professional, and proactive. Navigating insurance issues can be frustrating, and having someone who stays on top of things makes a huge difference. Employees like Alejandra are a big part of why patients continue coming back. At 10:30, the man at the front desk told us they had no record of our appointment. It was on my calendar and my mothers calendar, made months in advance. He told us we could wait and they could squeeze us in at 11:30. We agreed. At 12 noon, we were still not seen and offered an appointment next week. At this point, my poor mom is exhausted. Not to mention that our time was completely wasted. Another couple left during the same time we did, said they could no longer wait either. Dr. Hoffman is a good listener and has excellent clinical judgement, based on my perspective as a physician. She is thoughtful in addressing my concerns and devising a comprehensive plan to alleviate my symptoms. Appointments are easy to schedule, and I didn't have to wait months before seeing my dermatologist. The staff is kind and caring, and processed my prior authorization for the expensive biologic medication I need for my atopic dermatitis. I would not recommend this practice. I called for a same day appointment which they happily accommodated (I was surprised). It took 45 minutes to see anyone which ended up being a PA. Call me old school, but I called to have an appointment with an attending MD, not a PA. When I book an appointment with a specialist, I assume I will get to see that specialist, not the physician assistant. The PA pushed for a diagnosis that was not at all consistent with the history I gave her and didn't use a dermatoscope on lesions until I pushed for it. I pushed for the MD's recommendation and they agreed to take a photo to show the MD. They then proceeded to make me wait another 30 minutes for an answer. I would not recommend this location nor will I be returning. read more

I travel from PDR to come to this Skin Care Center. I've been a patient here for 5 years and find the staff to be extremely warm and friendly. I also greatly appreciate the good care I get from Dr. Nguyen - she's excellent. And today after my annual skin cancer check appointment she managed to fit my husband in for a pre-cancerous growth on his nose. Finally, she does Botox for me as well. I've had treatments in Maryland and in London, and find Laser Care is of a high standard, at a more reasonable cost. I highly recommend Laser Skin Care! read more

This place is terrible. The doctor who had given exam, or lack thereof, made me feel very rushed and could not give solid answers on a solution to my skin condition due to the summer heat. He was very condescending and provided no valid information which left me feeling frustrated and ripped off. The front desk also wouldn't give me the proper costs for a possible procedure needed. My entire family has been to her now, all for various reasons. She's sweet and soft spoken and good with my kids and the issues they went to her for. I have also seen Dr. Nguyen one time. She filled in for Dr. Kuo one day while she was out sick. She was very nice as well and I wouldn't hesitate seeing her again in the future if needed. The medical side of this practice is fine, but the office staff and administrative communication are a major issue. I was initially scheduled for an appointment, only to find out at the last minute that it had to be canceled. The staff was unresponsive and failed to notify me in a timely manner about insurance issues. Outsourcing scheduling to a third party has been detrimental and made coordination frustrating. Use to love Laser Skin Care Center--the doctors are great and provide good care (they listen, explain, work with the patient regarding care), but over the last year the front desk has become impossible to work with. They were purchased by a large corporation and the quality of service has hit bottom. Phone calls don't get answered, they don't return calls, difficult to reach the office staff and doctors. Wait times have increased. A doctor assured my daughter she could continue care via telehealth when she went away to college and then the office said we couldn't do it (although they did accommodate one telehealth visit, but she needs monthly visits) On multiple occasions my wife has shown up for an appointment but was unable to be seen because the front desk dropped the ball. After 25 years of loyal patronage, I'm actively looking for a new dermatologist. After Dr. Kane's retirement, things have never been the same. Young doctors come and go. The staff on the phone is indifferent, even uncaring. I had to cancel an appointment and was told that I wouldn't get to see anyone till January, except for a nurse practitioner. Ridiculous. Having had bad experiences with a cancer diagnosis that was missed by very average doctors and nurse practitioners, I will not see anyone without a stellar qualification. No appointment for Botox either? One would think that the profit motive would kick in. I'd rather drive almost an hour to a caring and highly qualified dermatologist than remain at this office that is 10 minutes away. Train your staff better, for heaven's sake! read more

So sorry to leave a 1 star review! I used to come here and the doctors were so helpful with my chronic basal cell issues. However, I just called with a new referral to get an appointment and the person who answered the phone was just rude. She interrupted me, told me that I could not get an appointment, that they could not see me until next year. I've never been treated that rudely. I couldn't even tell her that I was a patient, had to leave for insurance reasons, and was trying to return. I guess I'll be asking for a new referral somewhere with a front desk who are nice. Laser Skin Care Center was recommended to me by Dr Connie Joy, Although it's a bit of a drive for me since I live in LA it was well worth the trip. This place is huge 13,000 sq feet 21 exam rooms yet was still very intimate with caring staff. I had a free consultation with Olivia who was very nice and since it was Christmas, was given a couple hundred dollar discount on a Fraxel laser and injections. I've had these both done before in LA , but paid more. So I booked my session with Dr Benjamin Farahnik and had it done yesterday. He was great, chill and gentle and after chatting, I knew I was in good hands. I numbed for over an hour and choose to go deep for the maximum collagen benefits. He set the machine for 7 and he did 8 passes on my face and neck. Did it hurt? Yes, beauty often does. But it wasn't unbearable. Today I woke up a little puffy but felt great and can't wait to see the results in a couple weeks. I also booked some under eye fillers with him. I love this place! Providers seem to be great - my issue is with what feels like unethical billing. I had a 5 minute appointment to get my annual skin check. I asked if they had time to remove a few nuisance skin tags. They said they could freeze only one. They did so in about 5 seconds. For this, my insurance and I were billed $456 dollars (of which my plan paid $0) and I owe $80 dollars for the exam and $118 for the single frozen skin tag (which did not fall off after 2 weeks, so it didn't even work). Its seriously $118 dollars to freeze a single skin tag? For that price, they should have frozen all of the tags I requested, and informed me about the cost. Extrapolating $118 dollars for 5 seconds of work, that is ~ $17.6 million dollars revenue per year just for someone to wield a liquid nitrogen canister... read more

ZERO STARTS. I paid upfront. I scheduled my appointment 3weeks in advance and specifically requested the female Dr whom I did the zoom consultation with. 3 weeks later my appointment was set for 10:05am arrived 10:07am and didn't get called till 10:35am to only be taken straight to a room to take pictures "without" asking me first. I declined the pictures. I was then taken to a room at 1046am where I had to put on the numbing cream myself. Went to the bathroom came bck to find a male Dr telling me I HAD to take the pictures. He refused to treat me unless I'd take the pictures. I refused and asked why was I placed with a male Dr Benjamin Farahnik (who was very rude and cocky, short man syndrome) when I requested a female Dr 3 weeks ago. LACK OF TRANSPARENCY: I asked for pricing on a mole removal and was only given the cost of the initial consultation. I was told that they were NOT able to give me a price range for the actual mole removal and/or the biopsy until I was seen by one of their doctors. I contacted 5 other dermatologists in the area and they ALL gave me a price range for this procedure upfront, BROAD as some of them were, they still give a patient an idea of how much they'll spend. LACK OF FLEXIBILITY: This particular mole I need removed, as per my Primary Care Physician's orders, is in a particularly sensitive and complicated area. This is why I asked for their most seasoned doctors but I was informed neither one of them is taking any new patients with NO exceptions. Again, ALL 5 other derms I called in the area were willing to schedule me with the doctor of my choosing so long as I was, in some cases, willing to pay a bit more and/or wait longer to schedule an appointment. LOW COSTUMER SERVICE: I had been trying to call them for two days but I was informed through Yelp that their phones were down. They gave me an alternative phone number, the call never went through. I missed a couple of their calls but they left no voice mail. They knew what I was trying to call about because I told them through Yelp, so they could've just answered my questions there. I had HIGH HOPES for this place based on their Yelp reviews so I ended up actually going in person to ask these general questions and I got little to no answers. The staff were not welcoming at all even when I mentioned I had gone out of my way to be there in person. Whatever happened to greeting someone before telling them that they don't have a face mask on? All in all it was a waste of time and gas. I use to receive Xtrac treatments from Veronica Chang and Suzanne Freeseman. Veronica Chang, PA is awesome! She is very friendly, funny, and professional. Recently, I've been receiving care from Dr. Kuo who is amazing as well! She makes sure all of my questions are answered and assures me that everything will be okay. I feel like I am being taken cared of. I also want to make a shout out to Ms. Mel King who has calmed me down throughout my dealings with the insurance company. Ms. King is calming and very helpful. The next day I show up and the receptionist insisted I canceled it the day before. Kind of a silly conclusion on her part because why would I drive 40 minutes to come. I wrote a bad review for my previous dermatologist and several people have reached out to me asking who my new dermatologist is which has reminded me to write this review. Shout out to Dr. Sandy Kuo! She's amazing!!! I am so appreciative of the quality of care she has provided. She is very kind, professional, and informative. She made me feel at ease and answered all of my questions. I was referred to her after I asked my PCP for a new dermatologist. I have a cyst on my neck and had two keloids that were bothering me. My previous dermatologist wanted to cut out the neck cyst right away without any kind of imaging or further examination. Each time I came back, the PA's told me there was nothing they could do but cut it out. The employees at the old dermatologist's office were always rushing me out which made me feel too uncomfortable to ask questions. This went on for years so by the time I was referred to Dr. Kuo, I thought I had no options and was ready to get the procedure done. I requested the procedure at my initial initial appointment. To my surprise, Dr. Kuo wanted to order an ultrasound instead before digging around in my neck. After the ultrasound, she said the cyst did not need to be removed and, instead, started me on a regimen for my neck (a prescription ointment and CeraVe lotion after each shower). So far, no issues and it's been about two and a half months! For my keloids, she suggested injections. I was hesitant because I had gotten a multitude of injections from the previous dermatologist with no results. I decided to give it one last chance. After just ONE injection to the keloid on my chest, it completely flattened! And after two injections on the sizeable keloid on my shoulder, it also flattened!!! I never thought these injections would work for me. Clearly, the previous dermatologist was a scam. Either way, I'm glad things finally worked out. After just three appointments with Dr. Kuo, I have been discharged and am now maintaining my neck regimen and starting scar treatment for the keloids. I would definitely recommend coming here and seeing Dr. Kuo! read more

I had micro-needling done here and unfortunately I saw no visible improvements in my skin and now I am over a thousand dollars down the drain. I'm being generous and giving 3 stars since the doctors and nurses were nice. I've waited until all three of my monthly treatments were done and a few weeks after my last third treatment to write this review, hoping I would eventually see results, but sadly I still haven't. I understand that no treatment is a guarantee, but I'm really dissapointed and felt like I wasted so much money (and time since I drove roundtrip 2+ hrs for each appt). I've been a patient at Laser Skin Care Center for approx. 15 years and have been very satisfied with their attention to detail and excellent service during that time. However, on a visit in January the front office seemed unusually frazzled and unorganized. I noticed that two friendly faces were missing. The treatment by the Dr was excellent, as has been the norm, so I just wrote off my observations as a bad day. I've had two additional visits since then, and the front desk observations haven't changed. It still seems unorganized, lots of talking between staff members, seldom is there eye contact with the patients, a "good morning, how are you today" has been replaced with "please sign the clipboard, we'll get to you in a minute", and staff with their heads buried in their computers. Less personal, more mechanical. The front desk sets the expectations for the rest of the patient visit! This is not the same office experience that I've grown accustomed to. I've also started receiving bills on a letterhead from totally different medical company located out of the area, and I still also receive bills from Laser Skin Care Center. I've spent time trying to determine if they all are valid bills, but have not been able to talk to a live billing person on the phone at Laser Skin Care Center for an explanation. Frustrating. Is it new billing software? New Office Management protocols? I'm guessing there has been an operational change somewhere, but I don't recall ever receiving a letter telling me so. I called about a month ago and made an appointment with Dr Young Kwak at this location and I regret it. It took a long time just to be get the appointment and now I've had a bad experience that needs to be shared. I arrived to the usual "may I see your insurance card", but they already have me on file so why you're asking for it again doesn't make much sense but whatever, handed it over.. don't care. I arrived early (8:15) to my 8:30am appointment knowing I'll be nearly the first one there and I can get in and out and back to work promptly. I respect the office's needs to process me and get the paperwork out of the way, so showing up when asked is the right thing to do; right? The doctor and his staff however, couldn't seem to care less. I was brought to a room at 8:30, thinking "oh great, on time, love it". Then the nurse said "I see you are here for a full body scan" and yet, I made the appointment a month ago to talk about two very specific issues, neither of which are a body scan that you're going to try and charge me for. I said no, I'm here for these two things to which she took a picture and left very cordially, letting me know the Dr. would be in soon. Great. Twenty minutes later, nothing. No "Hey I'll be right there", or "I'm running behind already" or "Sorry for the delay". I'm so tired of Dr.'s not respecting patients and their time, just to cram more patients into the day. I put my pants on and go to work and help people too, so you can't stiff me at 8:30am and blame anyone but yourselves for not caring. You don't know why I'm there, and you stand me up for my appointment after waiting a month to be seen. Maybe try another profession where your lackluster attitude towards care for others isn't jeopardizing their health. Needless to say I walked out and wrote this because our healthcare system still doesn't give patients the ability to speak out on their own behalf. You can definitely entrust your care to Dr Kwak. He is one of the most personable and understanding doctors I have ever visited. I was dealing with a skin cancer on my NOSE, and consulted with several surgeons on treatment. Dr Kwak was the first to explain in detail How this tumor developed, and even discussed the pros and cons of Non-surgical options as well. He was also very honest and told me and my husband that any surgical treatment can leave a scar, and that a 100% scar-less procedure cannot be guaranteed by anyone. The goal of high quality reconstruction is to minimize the appearance of scarring with meticulous technique and potentially secondary treatments. In the end, we entrusted my face and nose to his hands, and I am very very satisfied with the outcome. He even discussed preventative treatment options and supplements, and my husband and I have both started changing our behaviors.
