Would give zero reviews if possible. This shop is complete garbage with zero sense of perception. We entered store first day and 4 employees standing around and nobody helped us. Came back with kids to pick out bikes and had a decent experience with young female employee. We were told it would take 24 hours to service new bikes, but we should pay first and pick up later. Returned the next day to pick up bikes and "Aaron" was disrespectful and being rude to my wife and children. I addressed this with the manager who simply made excuses for the behavior and said that it's not a store for kids and safety is a concern, but customer service is not. The guy seems mentally disabled so I didn't take the conversation much further. Clear that this business doesn't value customers or long term relationships. We will never shop here again. read more

I had a great experience here. I think they are moving locations though. On a whim I decided that I needed a bike. But since COVID was happening, a lot of bikes were sold out! I went through Eriks to see if I could find a bike that was practical and not expensive. I ended up finding the perfect Bike! I sit up so that I'm not slouching a lot! And it folds!! It folds like, 3 times! So now I don't have to buy a bike rack in order to take it places! Super convenient. A nice ride! They inspected it before they sent it home with me! read more

I stopped at Erick's Bayshore after experiencing issues replacing a trainer cassette. Heather S worked to remove a cassette that was over tightened on my trainer and replaced it with a new cassette. She was extremely helpful, patient and persistent during the cassette replacement process. I usually go to a different bike shop near me, but due to their limited hours I came to Erik's, and I'm glad I did! Great service, funny staff, a relatively quick turnaround. I have been having lots of tire issues (I replaced my rear tube 4 times last fall). While I was recently changing my tube (for the fifth time) it popped (surprise surprise), so I gave up and decided to just bring the entire wheel into the shop. The staff at Erik's initially gave me grief about popping my tube (all in good nature), so luckily for me I got to return the sass when they did the exact same thing and popped the tube. Twice! We couldn't really figure out what was wrong (nothing was lodged in the tire itself), so he just replaced the entire thing, tire and all. Fast forward one day, I'm biking home from work and now my front tire pops. I brought the whole bike in this time to have them replace the front one to match the back, and I also decided to have them tune it up. The bike needed a lot of TLC, but Heather and Josh did a really great job keeping me in the loop about what they were doing. Thanks to Tom, Heather, and Josh for all your help! read more

Stopped by to see if my new ski boots would be compatible with older ski and bindings . The store manager Tom was working and was extremely knowledgeable and helpful . He spent about 1.5 hours with me . Had my boots custom fitted after heating the insert and having me walk in the store for 10 minutes. Excellent selection of skis ( especially online) at reasonable prices. I ended up buying new skis and bindings. They were mounted later that day and I received a call they were ready to pick up. I took my bike in to be tuned up for the spring and received a text it was ready and so I went to the store to pick it up. Heather the service manager went to get my bike and took a look and was not satisfied with the work that had been done and told me so and asked if I would mind coming back another day after the work could be reviewed and redone because they were training a new technician and this was not up to her standard. She was very apologetic for my inconvenience and I thank her because to me that was the right thing to do. I would rather make another trip and have my bike be in the condition I expected rather than get it home and be dissatisfied with the work. I understand why Heather is the manager of the service department and they are lucky to have someone with her commitment to quality and customer service. Bravo! read more

The staff was ok if not a little surly/disappointed when they found out I was looking for parts and not a new bike purchase. They were able to locate what I needed after a bit of confusion about the location of the item(s). I too was disappointed when they told me it would be $10 to change a tire and swap a tube (the things I just bought from them) on the rim I brought in. When you charge over $3K for a bike you shouldn't have to nickel & dime the customer. read more

My husband and I both enjoy biking & skiing, so we were happy to see a ski / bike shop open up in WFB, especially since the other ski shops in the area all seem to be migrating west. We've been here on several occasions, and all of our visits have been very positive. At this time of year (December & January) - my focus has been the ski equipment. I went in one evening looking for a gift - and they gave me expert advise on the technical details of the item in question. Since it was more than I've ever spent on ski goggles before, I was happy to listen to their recommendations. We've been in just to look around and it's nice to see a selection of gear, including some brands that we generally haven't seen in the Milwaukee area before (most notably, Helly Hansen and Dragon. Boarders may be interested to know they carry 686). We've also used them for servicing our skis - we had a performance wax put on, and our edges done...including a bevel, which I don't think had been offered to us at any of the other ski shops locally. The service department turned things around quickly, which was nice. I'll be skiing within a week, so I'll comment on the edges and wax job then. I think that we've visited the store a total of 4 times in the last 6 weeks, and I really like the fact that I am consistently seeing the same staff on multiple visits. While our focus on these visits has been ski equipment, I would like to mention that they are an authorized Specialized dealer. When we dropped off our skis for waxing, we found out that there had been a recall on certain models of the 2011 Specialized bikes - including my husband's. We asked about it, and they will take care of the repair on his bike without a problem. I'm actually quite disappointed that we didn't hear about the recall from a) Specialized b) the local bike shop where we bought the bike - but I have to say - kudos to Erik's - if they keep on with this vein of customer service, we will be dedicated customers! The thing that I see as a downside - their selection of skis and boots wasn't as great as I would have liked. I'm guessing that's why I didn't see any Volkls,which is disappointing, as I'm a huge fan of them. That being said - my skis are quite new, so perhaps they will carry them by the time I'm ready to upgrade again. (Hint, hint!) And for those interested - they seem to have a very extensive bike area, including a training area. I'll have more to say on the bike side in a few months, after we defrost from the Arctic Tundra that is currently the state of Wisconsin. read more

What can I say? When I found out there was a local ski shop I had to check it out. Erik's has always been good to me which is why I keep coming back. Ill start by saying its pricey. Getting a bike, snowboard, longboard or skis might leave your wallet feeling a bit lighter. I know i look at the price tag on one of their bikes and jump out my clothes at the price. Even so, watch out for their sales and closeouts because eriks tends to have some pretty sweet deals when you check online. I remember getting a pair of skiis with bindings for less than $300 if im not mistaken. They were located at another store, but the employees delivered it to the shop for me with no additional cost. Services offered include bike, ski, longboard and snowboard maintenance. Most cases Im not disappointed - I get my skis waxed and sharpened here each year and I am never left disappointed. Bike maintenance is another story. For things not too expensive its not bad to have it taken care of here, but for some other fixes you may wanna look around before you fork over your cash. I enjoy the selection they have, many different clothes and other accessories for whatever bike and board sport youre involved in. The employees are also a very nice bunch and are extremely knowledgeable. If you havent been here yet stop by! I dont know who Erik is but he's got a good thing going at this store! read more

Brought my bike in to get some options for extending the handlebars and was greeted by knowledgable, "eager to please" staff. Was so grateful to get clear explanations and practical suggestions. Work was done immediately (timing was right) and I was on my way with a bike adjustment that was perfect for me. Their customer service is excellent and raises the bar (pun intended). This is first time at the new location but my second time using the service dept. this year. I called this morning and they said to come right in and that they could resolve my issue within 24 to 48 hrs. I met with the service specialist, Josh McFadde. He has helped me in the past and was just as wonderful today. He put my bike up on the stand and had my derailer issue resolved while I stood there. Again, he would not accept payment for his efforts and sent me on my Merry Way! I will continue to support this store with all my service needs and future purchases. Thank you again, Josh and Co. Seriously $10 to spend 1 minute installing a $20 pair of plastic pedals that I was purchasing to get me back on the road? I usually frequent Erik's in Madison, but have stopped here (and Layton) a few times to pick up a few things when in Milwaukee for work. On this trip, I forgot my pedals at home and had a 35 mile ride planned for after work around the Oak Leaf. Looking for a cheap pair of flats to save the night, the gentleman in service offered to sell me a pair of cheap BMX pedals for $20. Not bad I guess. However, I asked if I could borrow his wrench to throw them on my bike outside, NO WAY. Instead, he would charge me an additional $10 to install them on top of the $20. I walked out. By contrast, Ben's Cycle borrowed me a pair at no charge! They even installed them on my bike. I was happy to leave a tip for their mechanic and even happier that they saved my ride! I wish I had got that type of service at Erik's. If I wanted a corporate experience, I'd shop online and save some $. I willingly pay a premium at LBSs as I travel because I support the community and appreciate the service I receive. read more

After getting my bike ran over and getting many tubes getting replace, I am writing a review. Let me start off saying that the staff are very friendly and informative. Love the staff and the people, the only thing brining down this store is the actual shop. The store is very pricey, which I wouldn't really mind when getting my bike fixed, however, my bike is completely bootleg now. I have a glow in the dark pure fix, and the parts they use aren't from Purefix. My seat, my chainset, and my tires have company logos and/or signs and my bike wouldn't even look like a Purefix if I didn't I have the Purefix logo on my frame. They don't have the option or ask you if you want the parts ordered in from the company. So in short, parts they have laying around are put on your bike and are really expensive. If I could, I would just have gone to a different bike shop a little farther away to get the right parts on my bike. read more

I brought my bike in to Eriks to get my bike's back brake fixed and when they told me the price and duration I realized I needed a quicker, more affordable place. During this conversation, they were not very friendly and interrupted me frequently. I went to pick up my bike and when I got home I realized that now the front brake is also broken. My bike is not safe to ride anymore and I am very sad, disappointed, and frustrated that this has happened. I do not know why or how they broke my other brake, but I do not want this to happen to anyone else. read more

I brought my nine year old son into Erik's for a new skateboard and a helmet. Skateboard selection was very poor compared to other retail shops. The associate that helped us was very quiet and did very little to offer any advice or information that would help us. After being disappointed by the skateboard selection and service we moved on to helmets. My son tried a few on and selected his favorite. The associate, again, offered very little information to us. We got up to the counter and the charge for the helmet was over $250.00. I will take some responsibility for not asking the right questions but I believe the associate should have asked us some questions to determine if we really needed this expensive helmet for a nine year old boy. Perhaps this is a store for the professionals and experienced so I would not recommend for the average Joe. Items are very expensive and the staff seems to be very green. read more
