If I had a chance to not select a star I would. I've been a long-time customer of Erik's in Grafton as has my wife and her family (10-15 years). To give you an idea we've bought 8 bikes, skis, ski boots, poles, bike helmets, snowboard helmets, biking gear, skiing gear, goggles, sunglasses, bike parts, snowboard & bindings... I could go on. Thousands and thousands of dollars.. My most recent experience, coupled with a few others, has me going in a different direction from this point forward. I'm in the midst of training for an Ironman and recently had my road bike in to have new pads and rotors put on (late July). Picked it up and brakes worked as they should. I also had, based on the suggestion by the service group, to replace my shifting cables as a preventative measure.. to which I did. Along with this recommendation they also suggested I have a drive train clean, which I declined because I have the know-how and ability to do that myself; I don't need to overpay for it. When I got my bike back, I wasn't able to get into my low gear, which was a new problem since the cables were replaced. I had to go back, explain the issue, only to be told the cable housing should have also been replaced (this never came up during my initial visit). So, reluctantly I had them do this. 3 days later when I picked it up the issue was not solved and Chris, one of the managers, told me I hadn't taken care of my bike, and it was a derailer issue and the derailer needed to be replaced. Mind you this bike is 5 years old... I clean my bike routinely and prior to them replacing my shifting cables there were NOT any issues with the shifting. So now this is my fault and you're suggesting I need to replace more parts? My bike is at this shop multiple times a year for various things, so the bike was not new to anyone there. Conversation went on and I was treated so horribly, so rudely, and to think there was zero regard for the thousands of dollars spent at this shop over the years one would expect a completely different experience. Bottom line... Know your customer and never ever make it look like their fault regardless if it is. Your job as a bike shop is to provide solutions, fix bikes, and make the customer feel good about money they're spending and the value you bring... Instead, I felt like I was a nuisance, and my business wasn't valued nor was it needed. read more

I recently went to Erik's bike shop to purchase an elecrtric bike. The salesperson informed me that the bike was $1599. However, when I got home and noticed that they added a $99 fee without telling me about it at the point of sale, I felt like a fast one was pulled on me. Is this the way you'd like to be treated when making a sizeable purchase? Be cautious when shopping there. I emailed HQ but only got "I'm Sorry" and a link explaining their set-up charge. read more

We brought my daughter's big box Schwinn in for repairs last summer. $115 and month later we were having the same issues but didn't get around to returning until just now. The staff person was blatantly rude, didn't seem interested in helping or educating us at all, and almost seemed offended that we would bring her bike to Erik's. We're not bike people and we're just looking for help. He didn't know it, but we are also shopping for a first bike for my son and planned on considering Erik's for the purchase. I brought my Specialized S-Works Shiv Triathlon bike to Erik's in Grafton for cleaning/detailing including drivetrain disassembly and overall maintenance/Inspection. Nate did an absolutely incredible job! The bike is completely spotless! It has not looked this good since I bought it! And he gave me a heads up on a couple of parts that I need to look at replacing in the future. I could not be happier with the work that he did... I am completely blown away at how good it looks. 1 star is the lowest they allow here. After spending $1200+ on a bike for my wife follow up visits could not have gone worse. Staff is rude and knows nothing about customer service. Went to Wheel & Sprocket after leaving this location and was treated like they actually wanted my business. And they didn't sell me the original bike. But the two road bikes we plan on getting this year will definitely come from W&S. I would never give this store another dime. I won't even take my wife's newly purchased bike there for a "free" end of year tune up. Will gladly pay for it with someone that seems to want the business! Ask for Paul at W&S in Fox Point. Las time I ever shop Erik's. Purchased a pair of snowboarding boots for my son for Christmas. Sales rep Benjamin B. (while helpful during the initial visit) made it very clear the boots could be returned for a full credit (not just an exchange) if not the right size. I specifically asked if they could still be returned if he wore them once to try them. He clearly said YES they can be returned. My son tried the boots and they were too small. We called to ask Eriks if they could order a new size. When I followed up on the status of the order, I was told the boots could no longer be ordered for the season. And once again I was told they could be returned. We then found his proper size at a different store and purchased the boots. Two days later I received a call that the boots arrived. Yes, the ones I was told could no longer get be ordered for the season. However my son had already worn his new boots twice for an entire day. I went to return the boots my son wore once to try them out and they refused the return. He only offered an in store exchange, which was NOT what I was told. I am now stuck with $250 of merchandise I cannot use. Erik's knowingly went back on their word. The rep at the counter scanned both boots thoroughly for any wear and found one tiny mark from his binding. They clearly are not willing to keep their word for the sake of having one pair of boots in inventory. Mountain Outfitters and Cedar Creek both carried what was needed. If they reply, Erik's will tell you that he nor Benjamin would never have said they would do a return. Making this a "he said she said" argument. He may mention the one small scuff mark he did see after scanning the boots, which is a very slight discoloration about 1" long that could have happened trying the boots on with bindings. Would have been happy to purchase my other sons entire set from here had they just kept their word. read more

We went to Erik's to look for a bike for my son. They only had 2 options in store to show us. When we asked the employee questions about other possible options, about the brands, sizes, kick stand options, etc. she was unable to answer any of them and stated she'd have to ask. There was a lack of knowledge there that led us going with another bike store. read more

As the gentleman on the phone said "not to be rude", but I'm going to be rude. My experience was sub par, customer service was horrible. I brought my daughter's bike in to get a tuneup. We had flat tires, etc. New tubes were put in front and back brakes pads installed, brakes adjusted, clean up, etc. $215 later walked away expecting my bike would be ride ready. That lasted for about 2-3 weeks and had issues with the tires again. I returned the bike for service. I never heard anything back. Upon going to store to pick up my bike we discovered my name, nor phone number was on the bike for identification. I wonder how long they would've kept my bike had a knot gone in. After explaining the situation again, as to why we brought it back, I don't think that the situation was addressed. I spoke with a gentleman on the phone who seemed dismissive as to my concerns. You were rude, sir I will not be returning, nor will I recommend this location. read more

I went to Erik's for a Specialized Vado 4.0 which they didn't have. They did have a 5.0 which I liked and offered to get a 4.0 so I could compare them. However, they wanted a refundable deposit of about $800 just to get the 4.0 to the Grafton store. When they got the 4.0 it didn't come with a computer so I asked if they could install one. They didn't have a computer. So I told them to get the computer and give me a call when it was installed. Then they wanted me to pay for the entire bike before they would order the $80 computer. They actually wanted me to give them $4,000 before they would order an $80 bike computer even though they already had $800 of my money. Their idea of customer service is way different than mine. read more

My husband and I are on a cross country RV trip and we're in Sheboygan, WI for 3 weeks. Decided to grab a couple of Aventon 500 Pace eBikes for delivery and assembly at Erik's. We were on a short timeline before leaving Wisconsin. The staff at Erik's was very accommodating, courteous, and knowledgeable. They had the bikes ready a day earlier than anticipated! Eriks of Gratin totally lacks customer service. If you call to talk to a manager, it doesn't matter. They only care about selling. I went to Eriks of Bayshore and found the opposite, they are amazing and really care about the customer being informed on the product, satisfied, and follow through with the service of the bike I bought. They even load and unload the bike out of my car. Hard to believe there is such a big difference in Eriks. I go the extra miles to Bayshore because miles equals smiles. We have had a totally excellent experience with everyone at Erik's Bike and Board. My husband and I each purchased a Como Specialized E bike in 2018. Then we got the Thule specialty bike rack for the car so we could explore other bike trails. We have enjoyed our bike bags, helmets, biking gloves, and all accessories we have purchased. We loved our E bikes so much we bought a 3rd one in case one of our regular bikes needed service. Our latest purchase is a regular specialized bike and a trainer so we can ride indoors during the nasty winter. So far this season I have ridden over 4,000 miles. The E bike has been a life changing experience for me as I have had 2 total knee replacements and had difficulty riding uphill or against the wind without a little assist. It is a bad day when I cannot ride my bike. All of the guys at Erik's are fabulous. Blake, Chris, Max and Sam have all given us outstanding service and recommendations. Took my wife's E Bike in for a flat tire repair. Picked it up the next day, paid our $39.00. Walking the bike to the parking lot, I noticed the tire was rubbing against a cable and the fender to the point where it would not spin freely. Walked it back in and was told the tire was so out of shape they could not true it, and to get a new wheel where I bought it from. When finding out we bought the bike at American in Madison [200 E bikes on the floor, much more variety, much better prices] the repair dudes had a very good and loud laugh and told us they could do nothing and to take it back. I understand the hesitancy to work on a bike the staff was un-familiar with, especially something as technical as a flat tire. That said, the bike was fine before it came in. The flat did not occur on a ride, but in the garage. They obviously knew the bike was not fixed, or failed to spin the tire after fixing the flat. And, they took our $39.00. What was accomplished? They lost a customer for life, and any potential recommendation we might make in the future. Funny thing was, I was showing my wife the $2000 Specialized fat tire bike I was interested in while waiting. Unbelievable. Don't these guys know about the intraweb thing? read more

I received my tune up today on my ebike. I asked about different accessories that would fit my bike (phone holder, water bottle holder) and I got a "that SHOULD" fit your bike "that would PROBABLY" work. Now, my bike is right there. They wouldn't put it on for me to see if it would work (the cup holder was velcro and could easily be removed from the packaging and placed on my bike), the phone holder could have easily come out of the packaging as well. I called customer service when I got home and Jeremiah said to me, well maybe they were to busy. . nope . I was the only one in the store. Ok, well, you know that bike shops are good old boys clubs, so maybe that's the reason why they didn't spend the time with you. . . wait a minute, back up a sec. . . . did he really say that? Yep, he sure did. I asked to speak to his manager and his comment was, well I'm sure he didn't mean because you are a female they wouldn't help you. I said, what do you think good old boys club means? His response was that it was an old retail establishment not that they cater to men. HAHAHA. That is laughable! Anyway, I'm left with a $100 gift card that I can't get my money back for and I can't get the service at the store to even buy anything. It's not worth driving 40 miles each way to be treated like this. Anyone want to buy a gift card off of me? I was riding my sisters bike while visiting the area. The chain ran off the gears and got stuck between the tall gear and spokes. Took it into Erik's for the fix and they took care of me right away. They didn't charge me for labor but I did have to replace the chain at $30. The cost of the chain seemed high to me? Overall this is a cool bike shop and it seems well stocked. It is clean and the guys were friendly enough! If I lived In the area this would likely become my bike shop! read more

Took my bike in after having 3rd flat in 2 week period. Explained the situation and after dropping over 100 for repair and new tire (mechanic said this was the issue) went on my way. A week and half later an 2 more flats took it back, they said they would take a look. Got the bike back and a day later it was flat again (without even being ridden). Went back 3rd time still flat a day later. Won't be going back. Also don't raise your voice on your 3rd time in or the sensitive mechanic will threaten to not even look at it. read more

Stopped into Erik's this weekend as my tires were getting low and needed a quick fill. Not only did they fill my tires, they saw my chain needed some oil-fixed that-and then asked if my boyfriends bike needed air and filled that as well. We've both had our bikes serviced here this year and Erik's has always been extremely fast to return a quality serviced machine. Mechanics know their stuff, friendly staff, shop is always clean. They up-sell EVERYTHING and have outrageous prices. I went for a tune up and they kept trying to add services that were obviously bogus. They even offered to lube my bike for $20. One would think that lubing a bike for a tune-up is standard practice. Anyways, I opted for a basic tune-up ($135). Lo-and-behold, after the fact, I find out that my rear brake wire is loose. My brake handle had very little tension and the tension wasn't even enough to get the brake to stop my bike. So I go back, as this is pretty rudimentary for a bike check, and ask them to tighten the line. They then claim that my caliper was just "old" and that they could replace it for $50. They must honestly think low of their customers and I will never go back. Ripping off your customers is not a good long-term strategy. read more
