I remember stopping here a few times over the years all the way back to when I was a kid. Not a whole lot has changed. The place is small, but still manages to pack a nice assortment of biking equipment, gear, and accessories into their small showroom. They don't have a huge selection of new bikes in the sales room, but I am certain that they could order just about anything you would want. All that being said a big chunk of their business seems to come from bike repairs and service. Today I stopped in with my daughter With her old Huffy bike that had a flat tire. We wheeled it in, and asked if they could replace the tube. The gentleman checked her brakes and said they could use some adjusting as well. He wheeled her bike into the back room and within a moment came out and showed us a glass shard that had punctured the tube. He went into the back again and 10 minutes later the bike was finished with a brand new inflated tube, recalibrated brakes in both the front and back. The brake lines that were sticking out had frayed a bit and another gentleman cut them and capped them so they would be safe. With tax and parts they charged $40. I thought the service and care they put into my daughter's bike that day was excellent and truthfully, I was half expecting them to tell me to drop the bike off and come back in a couple of days. I live nearby and have been here a few times over the years for various repairs on my two bikes and my son's bike. Every time I come they do a very quick job for a very reasonable price. Today while riding through the borough of Haddonfield, I stopped by a local bike shop. I was greeted by an amazing guy named Rob. He offered to put air in my beautiful 26 inch beach cruiser. I had no idea my tires were low on air and I discovered low pressure would not only decrease my speed but also caused the tire to sway. I just bought a bike from Erlton and love it! Aaron was super helpful and took time to make sure I was happy with my bike purchase. They also helped me pick out the bike accessories. Right now the bike store doesn't allow people inside the store so everything is done outside. The sales guys are literally running all day back and forth from customer to the store. I rarely write reviews however when my brakes are the issue I need to give Erlton bike shop an F. I put my bike in for tires and brake pads. My bike came bake with air in the line and lose brake line connections. I noticed the issue while still at the shop and asked to have a Technician look at it. I was told the issue was hardware and expensive to replace. It was not possible to get them to fix the brakes nor leave the bike to fix it at any cost. At an alternate bike shop they ended up tightening the connections and bleeding the brakes. the brakes are back to full power. FWIW it is an extra large hard tail TREK frame with several upgraded components. UPDATE: In addition to the above issue, Two more issues became obvious. 1. Loose Spokes after they trued the back Rim! 2. Flat on the new tire that was installed. the hole was on the inside of the tube and had a clear tool mark on the tube. I do not use tools to remove tires so again, the worst experience ever. I in fact the bike came out much worse and more dangerous that it went in. read more

I love this place! Last year I bought a redline bmx for my 13 year old. Over the year the kid put the bike through hell and back. I recently took the same bike back to the shop for a tune up. My son didn't want a new bike for his birthday he wanted his bike fixed up and asked for a tire and brakes. The bike needed much more than tho. So the bike shop did the tune up fixed the rim and I bought a ton of new items for the bike. Color matching brake cable new grips two tires pegs front and rear donuts pedals and few other items. Much of the labor was covered with the tune up and the parts were reasonably priced. I coulda spent a bit more and got a new bike but the kid didn't want a new bike. He wanted his bike to be better. So thanks to these guys the kid his happy and got his dream bike fixed and pimped. Overall great service and the bike was finished exactly when they said it would be. Prices seem to be good. When I'm ready to buy my next bike it will definitely be from here. read more

I don't know.... I was told they would rub down the chassis.. Oil the chain...and other stuff.. When I got the bike home... I was rubbing grease..and dust off of the chassis...with my finger... The chain..was not oiled... It went from 64.99.. To 106... And I had extra scratches that were never there before... And they sold me..loads of s..t... Lights...and other stuff....I could of done myself.. What they did. How could they tell me they would rub down the frame... When I got it home... And was rubbing it off with my finger...?......... I've been to Erlton a few times now. It came highly recommended by people I trust, and I wasn't let down. The people are super friendly and helpful, the prices are great, and they've been around forever, so you know they're doing something right. The first time we went, we bought a few lights and a cargo rack. Then we came back to get our bikes tuned up. The price was reasonable, and they offer a discount for being a member of the Bicycle Coalition of Greater Philadelphia, which I am, so that was nice. This place has basically my go to bike shop. (And here's a tip: If you wanna get here by bike but don't want to get on route 70, you can get to the shop from the Haddon Twp/Collingswood/Haddonfield area by going up Maple Ave to Grove Street to Park Drive to Edison Avenue.) read more

I have often said that this bike shop deserves a medal from Autism Speaks for being helpful and very kind to autistic (and disabled customers). Maybe, the governor should give them an award. The owners will go out of their well to be helpful to disabled children. We have purchased several bikes from them. If only yelp allowed the half star I could give this store a 3.5. Erlton Bikes is a small shop, and they really specialize in kids bikes, cruisers and some hybrid around-town bikes. They don't offer true mtb's or road cycles, but it is a good neighborhood bike shop. I would recommend this store to anyone just looking for a bike to ride around the neighborhood or a new bmx for the kids, and the staff is generally friendly and seem very capable of professional repairs and maintenance. read more

One of the best bike shops in our area. I went there today to get a flat tire fixed for my son and ended up with a new bike for him. We had borrowed a very expensive high end Mt Bike from a friend and we were running into a lot of mechanical problems with this bike. It had been a well used Mt Bike before we received it. Probably one of the best you could buy at the time, Gary Fisher but it had a lot of hard miles on it and we ended up getting a lot of things repaired and replaced on it. The final straw to get a new bike for my son was when we ended up having to get another tube replacement after we had just replaced the front and the back and then we ended up locking up the disc brakes when the tire was removed. Erlton was great they gave us , without charge a spacer to prevent disc lock up for free and advised what to do in the future when taking off the wheel from the bike to avoid this problem. My sons birthday was coming up and we decided to look at some new bikes. Aaron brought out a Haro FL One. That fit him perfectly and was much less technical for a 15 year old boy. We took the repaired tire home for the Gary Fisher and then quickly decided that it was time to return that bike back to the original owner after enjoying it for a year. Then we decided to give our son a birthday present and purchased the Haro FL One. I called Rich and he took our order and said he could store it until our son's birthday. We added a water bottle cage and bottle an air pump and a kick stand, which was sorely missed on the Gary Fischer. After talking to Rich and purchasing the bike my wife and I discussed the purchase and thought maybe it would be best to get an early birthday present. We called back and Rich totally understood and advised us to come back in an hour to pick up the Haro. We surprised my son with the purchase and he was ecstatic. We went back to the shop and Aaron brought the bike out to us and went over everything very thoroughly on the bike and advised what to be cautious about. Aaron was very thorough with what we needed to be aware of. He also went over some of the very nice features of this bike and why it was a great value. I would highly recommend the Erlton Bike Shop. We have been going there for 21 years now and they continue to provide great service at an exceptional price. I never feel like we are being overcharged for anything. Old school service. No non-sense, no up sell, only the best thing if anything is needed at all. I think I fell into a time warp. I am a novice bike rider from the suburbs of Philadelphia. I signed on to ride from the Ben Franklin Bridge to Atlantic City in a charity event for the American Cancer Society. 65 mile ride, I had a flat at mile 20. I limped into the rest area and found a bike repair tent off to the side. It was manned by 2 gentlemen from Erlton Bicycle Shop. I stood in line for a few minutes and was asked how they could assist. I showed them my issue (btw, 2 spokes were broken) and they went to work. I was told I needed a rear new tire, 2 new spokes and a tube. I was shocked at the issues and thought I would need to end my ride there and get a ride back to Philly somehow. I was wrong. They pulled out a tire and tube, 2 spokes off a "parts" wheel, installed it all, pumped the tire, reset it on the bike, trued up the wheel, checked my brakes, oiled the chain and told me it was ready to ride!! I had a credit card and some cash (I was concerned they would only be accepting cash). Then they shocked me with the price. Nada, nothing, zilch. WHAT?! No, that's not right or fair. We went back and forth and danced about how they had just provided me over $100 worth of immediate parts and service!! They would have none of it. They suggested that I add an amount of my choosing to the charity (I added the $100 I thought it should have cost me). These men were very gracious about it and thanked me for spending my time on the ride and told me they have been doing this for many years at their cost and during their personal time. Unbelievable. This shop and these men are the real thing. I threw my bike on my car and visited them in their shop the following week. I started by thanking them for their kindness and retold the story to 2 customers who were there to have their bikes repaired. They both acknowledged these men are just that way. I had some other repairs made. The work was quick and inexpensive (I was allowed to pay this time)... and exactly what was needed, not more. I'm happy to spend an afternoon with a sandwich board on, standing on the street ringing a bell for them! Trouble is, everyone in Cherry Hill, NJ knows about them. Horrible service. So inefficient and Downright rude. Avoid this place like the plague. I got my bike repaired and then they dumped it outside without even asking me if I liked it and if it was working properly. I went to test it and fell down and no one even noticed me or that the bike was malfunctioning. They had not secured the seat properly but I would have no idea because no one told me anything and we were just done after they dumped it outside. read more
