The Peddler's Shop is a great all around bike shop. They run the spectrum on bikes from high end racing bikes, gravel and mountain bikes, beach cruisers, bmx and kids bikes. They carry Trek, Fuji, Pinarello in road bikes and a wide variety and assortment of all kinds of cycling accessories. I recently bought a really great Bontrager helmet here. I have found their prices to be reasonable and their repairs first rate. What is great about their customer service is they send you a notice by e-mail when your repair is ready. This is a really great feature and I wish more shops did this. The staff at the Peddlers Shop has always been helpful and friendly. Since the closing of D&Q this is my go to shop now! terrible service. I have brought my bike back countless times and they have still continued just to break it over and over again and put the bike out of adjustment. This business has been operating for at least 30some years that I know of. They've always provided quality service. I recently had my sons box bike tuned up and repaired. The staff helped me pick out what I wanted new on the bike, and made suggestions of some things that needed to be repaired that I missed. My son is very satisfied with the work that was done and how much better his bike performs. The labor prices can pile up with every minor addition. So if you can do minor things like install grips, pedals, seat, etc.... you'd save plenty of money in labor cost. read more

When she arrived, the first thing she was told is that they will not size her until she's "committed to buying a bike". How can someone commit to a bike if they don't know what will fit. The people who work here are absolutely the most epic humans of all time. I bought my MTB from them and since then have starting racing. Recently the cassette on my bike broke and these guys bent over backwards to help me get it sorted before my big race. They went out of their way to help me get the new cassette when I brought the bike in last minute, and after the delivery they set up was late they made absolutely sure I left with a working bike. First things first: I am not a cycling nut - I just like riding my bike. i was in the area, so i went into peddlers shop. what i found was an attractive mountain/ road bike store, with an elitist employee who treated me in a demeaning fashion. suffice to say, i won't be returning. ultimately, if your the type of enthusiast that looks down your nose at pleasure riders as you zipp past them in your skin tight spandex uniform, this might be the store for you. otherwise, i'd go somewhere else. the details: With the weather breaking, i thought i might try bike commuting a couple days a week again this year. hell - the i live near the speed line, and the gas prices make it even more cost effective than in the past. so i figured i'd pop my head in the store and see if there were any accessories or goodies to get the season rolling with. i ride a mountain/ road hybrid: cross bars and gears like a mountain bike, 700cc rims and semi slick tires akin to a road bike. i go to bike shops to see the unique goodies that make biking more enjoyable and to see what other kind of bikes are out there. so even though i wasn't in the market for a bike, i started by browsing the bikes. peddler's shop is no place to look for a beach cruiser or a bmx: their stock is almost entirely mountain bikes, road bikes, and hybrids. for greater variety, try erlton in cherry hill on route 70 (my favorite bike shop) or rico's cyclery on the white horse pike in somerdale. i saw alot of Trek bikes, and I recall seeing a fuji. The cheapest bike I observed was $250 - although most were priced much higher. thier accessories and spread over a series of pogadas. the items matched their bike stock - so do't go there looking for the wide fanny seat. near the registers there congregated two groups of customers. both were yuppie couples that had unatended hyperactive children with them. at least one of them was there for some type of service. the kids had to find the store confusing. its a bike shop, and most kids see bicycles as something fun. but the great bulk of the bikes and accessories in this store arn't for kids. At any rate, I came across a rack of lubricants and decided it might be a good idea to pick some up to keep the season running smoothly. as i noted, i am not enthusiast, so the options were a little bewildering. there was one type of grease that said it attracted dirt and had the be cleaned every week, and another type that said it was self cleaning but that you had to clean off the gears before you put it on. i approached the register with a small bottle of the first kind, and i asked a big galoot working behind the counter whether this was good grease for a chain. he told me that grease was for cables not for gears and chains. this contradicted what the bottle said, but i gave him the benefit of the doubt. so i asked him what he would recommend. he went to the rack and handed me top shelf self cleaning grease, telling me thats what they use. so i asked about the pre-application cleaning - what kind of cleaning is required? a simple wipe down with a rag or something more involved? he then handed me a aerosol can as if he was adding something to my cart that i would just automatically buy. whatever was in that can would solve my silly little problem. the entire exchange was presumptuous and condescending. i told him i'd just stick with the grease. more bad attitude - like suit yourself novice. i tried to ask him about the cleaning procedure again, and he dismissed the question - not even making eye contact. i handed him a $20.00 bill for a $10.00 bottle of grease, and when he handed me my change he said "here you go boss" boss? boss is the term meat heads use to call you a douchebag when he circumstances don't allow them to act like bullies. typically, the person using the term 'boss' is seen by the majority of people as a huge douchebag himself - although this reality escapes him. i've been called boss by people my age pumping gas, delivering pizza, changing oil at pep boys, and - now - working the register at a bike shop. i've never been called 'boss' by anyone my age who went or is going to law school, medical school, etc. then again, i didn't come across many biffs in law school . . . . so i turn to leave, and he shouts - what about your receipt, don't you think you'll need that? again, very condescending. so i took it and got the hell out of there. read more

My husband needed a commuter bike to go to Philly, we live 3 miles away from the PATCO, I briefly explained Andrew want we wanted and by the time my husband came in to the store Andrew had one bike lined up for him. My husband liked it, we waited a few days to get it on his size, Andrew also installed the bike rack in my car and explained me how to put the bike on it. My husband loves his bike, it's so light weight and practical to take into Philly. Two weeks later we came back to get a bike for myself, I love my new bike! After I finished buying my bike (5 min later) and I returned to the store to see if Andrew could install a cellphone holder and he did!! Right on the spot !! I was able to ride my brand new bike home !! ( 6 miles) I am NOT a pro or anything like that.... Andrew was so helpful! He knows his clientele and makes good suggestions! We had a low budget for this and he helped us to find exactly what we needed! The benefit of buying from the store is the free check ups you will get instead of paying for them. The shop seems fairly busy during COVID as people are trying to get back on their bikes. I remember being impressed with the range of offerings when I went there several years ago. I only needed 2 new inner tubes replaced. I went on a Friday and waited 15 minutes in line. They handled my repairs in less time. Unacceptable customer service. They're system is to have customers go around back of the shop without specifying a vehicle is necessary to receive service. We attempted to walk around the back of the store to receive service after parking in the store's parking lot. Because we walked the bike to the back instead of driving with a vehicle the repair associate felt the patrons in the vehicle took priority stating he didn't know what order we arrived in due to us not being in line with the other vehicles. Other patrons were outside of their vehicles. Can't speak on the service itself as we left due to the 90+ degree weather and unwillingness to idle in their car line (environmentally unfriendly). First let me say I know almost nothing about bikes. But I wanted to start doing some cardio instead of running. I went into the Peddler Shop after seeing it on the way to the mall. Found the staff to be extremely knowledgeable and the guy took his time to explain all the different options I could go with in bikes. Ended up getting a nice Trek road bike, wasn't too expensive. They helped me get the seat and helmet fitted correctly. You will not find a better service plan with your new bike purchase then at the peddler shop, most places give you a 100 mile adjustment and possibly a 60 day tuneup if your lucky. The Peddler Shop gives you a 10 year service plan, that's right I said 10 years! You can actually bring your bike in when ever you deem necessary for a adjustment or service problem for 10 years. I can't say enough about how great this bike shop is. It is one of those small businesses that you just want to keep around. You can walk in with an issue and they will take care of you. They honor their sales and have fixed problems that I have had with wheels, my power meter and even a bike rack. I have been overly sensitive about my bike fit and Chris, who does the precision fitting, worked with me to make sure it was perfect and that I was happy. All five of my kids ride and my husband too. They take very good care of my family. You just don't get that kind of care when you buy something from Amazon. The couple, "obviously connected" reviews below, couldn't be more false.... these bike shops and even running stores have to deal with customers just requesting to be sized; taking up the time of sales people, then they leave and buy it on the internet. So if you are looking for a true review, those are unreliable. Go in and see them based on my review, if you are not happy with them.....feel free to message me. We can talk. I went into Peddler's Shop to hopefully get a new road bike. I started out by saying I was interested in getting a bike and asking if they could size me and then help me with some information about the different bikes. I wasn't sure what bike to get but heard Trek's were a good place to start. The man I dealt with was not helpful at all, and really turned me off to the whole shop. He blatantly stated that they do not offer bike sizing unless your already committed to buying a bike from their shop, as it takes an hour to get the correct sizing. That seems a little ridiculous to me, but I don't know much about bike shops and how they work so maybe that's a standard...who knows. It wasn't the fact that he was unwilling to help me with my bike sizing, it was the fact that he was unwilling to help me start the process of finding a bike. Why would you let a sale walk out the door?! I was willing to spend $1100-1300 on a good quality bike. He was rude and stand-offish. I have been here once before to get my clip in shoes installed with the correct clips and I dealt with this same man before, and to be honest I felt like such an inconvenience to him. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If you're in a customer service industry, try to be helpful and welcoming. read more

came in because my uncle left me a lite speed when he passed. these guys thought it would be funny to sell me a tubeless tire with a regular tube knowing i will have trouble. now i damaged my uncles bike! can't get to work and it cost me 80 bucks in miss match tires. beware! i guess you need some spandex to be a part of the click. they seemed helpful so i blindly trusted this guy. what did i get? a ruined rear rim and a lesson learned! don't ever go here! read more

I'm going to completely disagree with Wesley on this one. I wondered in to Peddlers Shop because I signed up for a charity bike ride and, well, I needed a bike. I had done a little background so I wasn't completely dumb founded, but after looking at the selection for a minute Jack asked me if could help. He went over the different bikes and options and let me make the decision. He didn't try and push anything more on me than I wanted (or needed) and I was on my new bike that afternoon. I stopped back the following day for an accessory and Jack remembered who I was and took care of me. I can't speak for anyone or their experience, but mine was positive. read more

They were pretty pricey. Also I didn't particularly like the customer service. They kind of exaggerated what they had to do with the bike. They were going to charge me at least 80 bucks for the tune up for my bike (which isn't bad) but they said that's just the base price. I'm sure they are good guys, but there are some others in Philly where I live that were a bit more reasonable. They do have a nice shop. :) read more

I love this shop. I am a competitive cyclist and have been to many area shops. Chris and Shawn and their team of mechanics always take the time to figure out my bike's issues and have handled my warranty issues quickly and anything I have sent out for repair has come back fixed. Awesomeness. I also bought a new bike and am sensitive to my bike fit. They set my new bike up dead on to the specifications of my previous bike. I bought a bike there for fun and fitness, best money I ever spent. Overall not a bad place if you know what you're buying ahead of time but there's this one guy you do not want to talk to. As previous reviews mentioned this guy must be the owner because nobody who talks like that to customers would last long in any business. Anyway I took my bike in for a free cable adjustment and I explained I lived 40 miles away and will be in the area 4 hours if he could fit it in. Didn't matter first come first serve and it would be 4 days in the shop. I took the bike home and made the adjustment myself and it took 1 minute. He could have done it in the time he took to refuse me and certainly could have found a minute in the course of 4 hours. Head up and locked imho. read more

Now that I'm retired and don't have to go anywhere on a regular basis I sold my car. So I decided to get a bicycle for utility transport around town. I hadn't been on a bicycle in 20 years, but for 20 years prior to that I rode over 10,000 miles per year -- so I've spent some time in bicycle shops and know how the business works. PS is certainly one of the best bike shops I've ever dealt with. Staff is professional, knowledgeable and courteous. Within 20 minutes we had determined what bike would work best for my current situation within my budget, and I bought it. They asked me what accessories I wanted and didn't suggest or apply pressure for anything else. The accessories were discounted with the purchase of the bike and installed free. The most important thing is they provide free tuneups for 10-years. Bring the bike in anytime and as often as you like. From a business sense, this is smart, but for the rider, it's a great cost-benefit advantage. I've never come across a shop that offered this. Bottom line for me: You can go to Walmart and get a mediocre quality bicycle for $200 or so and they'll wish you good luck as you go out the door. Or you can go to PS, spend a little more for better quality bicycle and a lot of professional bicycle expertise -- experienced consultation on the bike that fits your needs, correct bike assembly, proper adjustment for you as the rider and free general maintenance for as long as you'll probably ride the bike.
