Delightful. A Friday…read morenight dinner in South Padre Island led me to LongBoard Bar & Grill, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. I walked in around 7:00pm and was seated right away. I started with the mozzarella sticks. They were exactly what you'd expect--nothing particularly memorable, but they satisfied the craving. For my entrée, I ordered the deep-fried seafood basket with all three options: shrimp, oysters, and fish. Everything was perfectly seasoned and fried to a crisp without being overly greasy. It came with cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and a small serving of coleslaw that balanced the heaviness of the fried foods nicely. The jumbo shrimp were sweet, plump, and succulent, while the oysters and fish were also delicious--exactly what my soul ordered. What truly elevated the evening was the atmosphere. Live music and a spectacular fireworks show over the water. The singer's rendition of the national anthem was absolutely beautiful and gave me goosebumps. Between the food, gorgeous ocean views, live entertainment, and fireworks, this was a memorable dinner and a great way to spend a Friday night on South Padre Island.

Service was very slow, I completely understand that it was busy but maybe the restaurant should have planned better for staffing. The waitress was very respectful and apologetic for the food taking so long (over hour and half). She apologized about 4 times over the span of the time, but nothing was offered or done about the extremely long wait for the food. Our food was not great whatsoever, it taste like everything was frozen previously and thawed incorrectly. The sampler came out cold, the fried basket was basket flavoring, the tacos were eatable, and the mahi mahi fish was okay. Honestly DO NOT come here for food, However Come HERE for dancing/environment.

The restaurant has a modern organic aesthetic and an upscale get inviting feel. It overlooks the Laguna Madre, making it an ideal spot for a romantic date night. I had a reservation and was seated immediately. To start, they brought out fresh bread with three infused butters--miso, gochujang, and anchovy. Each were delicious, but the gochujang butter was the standout; It had great flavor and a hint of heat. I began with the pork belly lettuce wraps, which were phenomenal. The pork belly was perfectly seasoned, rich without being overly heavy, and the mango salsa added just the right amount of sweetness and acidity to balance every bite. For entrées, I ordered the Chilean sea bass and the red curry chicken. The sea bass was tender, well-seasoned, and served alongside asparagus and pilaf rice. The red curry chicken was an unexpected interpretation of the classic curry dish--it featured a crispy fried chicken breast smothered in a rich red curry sauce, accompanied by pilaf rice and veggies. It was moist, flavorful without the spiciness of the classic--it was a good spin on a traditional Indian that worked. Overall, I'd rate Henrietta's 4.5/5 stars. The food was excellent, the portions were satisfying, and the ambiance made for a wonderful evening. The only thing keeping it from a perfect score was that it never quite delivered that extra touch that transforms a great meal into an unforgettable dining experience. Still, it's absolutely worth a visit if you're looking for an elevated dinner in South Padre.

It was busy but not packed; I'd suggest getting reservations if you're coming on a weekend or a busier day. The food itself was a little mediocre. I don't think anyone at the table finished or really liked all of their food -- a couple of people didn't even want to take their to-go boxes. That said, the compound butter appetizer with the bread they give you is some of the best compound butter I've ever had in my life. The drink selection is good too, so maybe just come in for a drink and the compound butter -- that alone is worth it. In general I can't give it a great rating, because no one really liked their food. And while the service was friendly, it wasn't fast, and we had a few plates sent back because they came out wrong. Would not recommend, and would not return.

Before even stepping in, we specifically asked if there was a cover to enter when the person at the front said "oh yes there's covers upstairs." We said "no, do you have a cover charge?" And they responded back "no." My friend group and I then decided to hang out a bit and see what this spot was all about. We ordered multiple drinks and even ordered food, just enjoying ourselves upstairs. We were there prior to the DJ setting up so once he started playing music, we were dancing and having a really great time!! All of a sudden, 2 security guards (who had been upstairs for about 45 minutes plus before even speaking to us) finally decided to approach us where they had stated we needed to go downstairs to get a wrist band before 10pm... when it was already after 10, closer to 10:20pm. Confused but not wanting to cause a scene, we decided to go downstairs to get our "wristband". Once downstairs, we were approached by who I assume would be the manager- scrawny, gray-haired older man- who was already obviously annoyed of our group for some reason. He made us show our ID AND get a hand stamp before "re-entering". We asked why this was suddenly an issue and all he could come up with was "the stamp is to allow you entry coming in and out." Again, not wanting to start a scene or be a problem, we still got the wristband and hand stamp- which is very weird might I add. I have never been to a bar where I get in before the cover charge and then is hunted to get a wristband to prove I was in the bar before 10 or I'll be forced to pay for the cover. My friend group and I are young, but of course over 21, so I'm unsure what this whole issue was about. The older man who practically forced us to get these wristbands well after the fact of being there left such a bad taste in our mouths that we decided to leave. Beware of this place if coming in before the cover charge! Again, not sure what the reasoning was for all this. We tried asking out of curiosity but was told to "not give attitude or we'll be thrown out." Consider spending your money somewhere else that is more worthwhile.
