My buddies and I were visiting South Padre Island in November and this place was about a mile walk from our house. They had really good live music and the bartender was awesome! I ordered an IPA, nothing on draft, but it is less of a Texas thing. The beer was good and for 6 bucks plus tip, you could listen to some great music and suck down a cold one. What a great bar to go to if you want to listen to a little music. We liked the tropical drinks here the best and they're only seven dollars. The cocoa Loco was my favorite, which had coconut rum, amaretto, and juice in it. I would highly recommend this. We tried all four of them and they were all delicious. They have bands nightly if the weather is good and a good size dance floor. Two bars so it's pretty quick and easy to get your drinks. Bonus is you have a Waterview and extra bonus if you are there at sunset. read more

Great music, great views, great service....what's not to like. I walked in to a famous group doing the Cure and a great view of the water. The bartender was awesome. He got to me quickly and even asked questions about where I was from and made friendly banter. I asked for a bloody mary. I was informed he makes his mix from scratch. Much respect! I really enjoyed the sharks hanging from the ceiling and overall chill vibe. I took my drink over to the side bar and enjoyed the water and great music. We get to come here every 4th of July and is a great view for fireworks show!!! They have a live band and is great, it does get packed around the 4th of July week.. the service is always great and fast food is your typical bar food is pretty decent quality beer always cold! Stopped in to see a friend playing in one of the (many) live shows they offer here. The views of the bay are great and there is ample seating for larger groups. It's mostly bar-height tables so it may be tough if you have a kid. The food was VERY good which was a surprise. The chicken club is the big winner especially if you get it blackened. This bar and grill restaurant is on the bay side. It is a popular spot for those wanting to catch the sunset view. You'll have to arrive early enough to claim your spot, it does get busy. The entire restaurant is outdoors with some sections offering a covered roof. They often have live music. They will ask you to show your ID. They don't serve beer on draft. They specialize in cocktail drinks served in a plastic souvenir cup. Their cocktail drinks are not my favorite, but the beach vibes and the sunset make up. They do serve the typical bar food. It's not the best. At times, it gets too busy for the servers to handle. I'd like to see more staff when the crowd is high. As far south on Padre Island as you can go,overlooking the beautiful Laguna Madre sits this little gem. There are many places here that you can catch a glorious Texas Gulf Coast sunset. Just what we were looking for. We wanted a place to hang out after a day of windsurfing, which for me means no makeup,flip flops, casual, outdoor patio, a view would be nice, and a plus would be music. That's exactly what we got at Laguna BoB (Bar on Bay). My guy and I had sweet rum drinks and tasty fish sandwiches while enjoying the breeze, the view, and a terrific local band (no cover charge). There was enough room to dance too- BONUS! This is a very casual place. You order and pay at the bar, and they give you a number to display at your table. All in all, it has a perfect vacation vibe. We went here for a quick bite to eat after initially arriving in South Padre. I don't know if it is because of Covid or their usual MO, but you have to order from the bar. The service is pretty quick and efficient. We decided to do a menagerie of appetizers. WOW they were all delicious. The ceviche is definitely a must! Ordered the large ceviche, which we ended up throwing away due to it having jalapeños in it. No where on the menu did it state that it was spicy and made with jalapeños which ceviche is typically not. All good is to be ordered at the bar as there is no waitresses. Band was mediocre. Laguana BoB's is tough to put into words. I'll say this, it's an open-air bar right on the bay and the drinks are cheap. So...it pretty much checks all of the boxes. That said, it's pretty crowded, the food isn't anything to write home about and the crowd can be...interesting to say the least. We had a fun time while down in South Padre, and I think it's somewhere you should definitely stop by, but not my favorite of all of those bars on that strip. Quite the experience! read more

Fish Tacos were delicious and welcoming as we were ready for lunch. Our tacos were served with a tasty mayo spread, I think, and it added an extra flavor. Fries, regular and sweet potato, and waffle and regular and larger steak fries-I know-what a mixture, but this added to a variety of texture. Weird! Lutz had an IPA, and I had a Coors Light because I was in the mood for a good American, cold beer. The only thing was that the sun was on full mode! Hot! Hot! And hotter! My beer got warm after I had only finished half! :( This reminds me that I just have to take a coozie next time it's this hot. 105 at least! We'll return here as it's comfortable sitting in the shade and looking out over South Padre's bay. An older crowd, but as I'm older myself, I didn't mind. No draft beers. Couldn't find a beer I liked so I ordered a rum & coke. I was sober & it tasted like a slight rum & coke. So I ordered 1 Long Island to get a decent kick. I was disappointed. We received poor service here at noon on a Friday. The waitstaff seemed more interested in talking to each other at the hostess stand. After we had to go up to our waitress there and give her our drink order (10 mins after the menu was dropped off) she copped an attitude throughout. Maria didn't even say one word when she set the bill down.... Pro's- it's nice to sit on the water. The decor is cute and lively. The ranch dressing is the good kind. The mixed fried vegetable basket appetizer was delicious. Cons- service. Seared Ahi tuna wrap was very sinewy. I had to spit out several bites that were unchewable. It was served in a thick, store bought style tortilla. With great Mexican food all around, there are probably better tortilla options. My fork had food crusted on it from a previous diner. The drink menu is pretty limited for a place that is marketing fun and liquor on the beach. The Twisted Tea was not good- supposedly crafted from several liquors, bit they managed to give it that 'fresh out of a can' taste like the Twisted Tea you can buy at the market. We loved the looks of this place, so it was our first stop when we arrived on the island. Hard to believe that we were able to grab 2 seats at the bar.
