I was visiting to watch my grandson play in a basketball tournament and arrived later in the evening, I sat in the bar so that I could watch a football game. Bartender was fantastic, she was also the manager as I learned later, and her husband was the chef and daughter waited tables. I just ordered a couple appetizers and a beer, but the whole atmosphere and friendly people made the visit worth it. Food was great and served very quickly. Everyone checked on me regularly and good conversation was had by all. They allowed me to stay and continue watching the game (until it went into overtime) as they cleaned up for the evening getting ready to close. Nice place. But as other reviews pointed out, maybe not the best. Sure, it's the only steakhouse in town, and they do have steak. They do seem to be perpetually short-handed, so the service always seems to be a bit slower than I'd prefer. Someone suggested to me it was the layout with the tall booths, but if they simply walked by the table a bit more, that would be helpful. I don't ask for a lot, but when my beer's been empty for some time, that's not enjoyable. I've found the best service can often be found in the bar area instead of the main dining room. The food is often good. I've not had a bad steak there, but it might take you a little while to get it. And if you come and the parking lot's full, if you don't have reservations, you're probably going to have a bit of a wait. read more

We will not be back Stopped in for Valentines day lunch 2-14-26. After being seated we were informed the wood fired grill was not operational. My wife ordered the watermelon salad and was told it was not available because "watermelon is out of season" (meanwhile watermelon was available at WinCo a couple blocks away). The wait for the food we were able to order took extraordinarily long to arrive and was mediocre at best. When the check arrived I was surprised that a 3% charge had been added to the bill for using a credit card to pay. We have eaten at Ernies many times since it opened. The food has been pretty decent although I considered the prices somewhat exorbitant . The already high prices and the surprise surcharge for using a credit card mean we will not be returning. Ernies used to be a gathering place for locals abd visitors. Food was fabulous what you expect from a local steakhouse. Last few times, under this new management. Trying to be too upscale and took away many favorites and added things that are no way keeping with steakhouse or 41 club. Its sad. I was a regular, but I will not be back while it is like it is now. I came in a night where they were apparently shorthanded and that's fine. I have patience. The reviews are really bad and I didn't trust ordering a steak that I wasn't going to enjoy so I settled for the shrimp and crab dip as well as the French onion soup . My server was very nice. She Alerted me that they were shorthanded . It did not take extremely long however it was a pretty decent wait. The crab and shrimp dip was pretty decent. Overall, I think a tad bit too much cheese and very little meat . I would give it a. 7/10. Just as a suggestion, I would probably serve it with a hard bread and not a soft bread. They served it with pita soft bread.. The French onion soup was good. They burnt the bread somehow so Ir did leave a charred taste in the soup however, overall it was 8.5. /10. If you do order a steak, there is a pretty large grill section where you can watch your steak being cooked. overall vibes of the place does seem disorganized and disoriented . Went to Ernie's Steakhouse on 09/03/25. I ordered the shrimp ceviche. The menu read that there was all the common ingredients. What caught my eye was the mango salsa. When my order arrived it looked good. Had a good amount of shrimp. Problem started with the first bite. There was NO flavor. I sipped the tomato juice and it was bland and seemed watered down. I added salt which help very little. The onions and mango pieces were few and very small. Very disappointed in this item. They need to step up. They also need to taste their food to make sure it meets standards. My wife also tried this and agreed it was terrible. Shameful happy hour. We stopped by while visiting family in the area. I wasn't sure what to expect as being from the east coast I am accustomed to high end chain steakhouses like Ruth's Chris, Morton's, etc. Local steakhouses tend to be very hit or miss, and of course every region has its own standard for what defines a great steak. Ultimately, this place did a great job and definitely surpassed my expectations. I ordered the filet with a blue cheese topping, which was roughly $60 and included two sides. While I was initially skeptical of the price, I had to remind myself this is what high end steakhouses charge for just the filet a la carte. I went with French onion soup and a loaded baked potato for the sides. Both were delicious. The filet itself was perfectly cooked and very tender. If there's one criticism, it could have been cut a bit thicker to justify the price point. But the quality still made a big difference. I believe this restaurant is connected to a local cattle ranch, hence the top notch quality. We will definitely come back next time we're in town. read more

went in there Friday evening food was amazing ! only bad thing that made this a 2star is we over heard a host or server if I'm mistaken along with a bartender saying they did NOT welcome a customer that was seated further away and they would be beating the customer up if she came back . No matter what there reasoning was the customer and her friends were enjoying there dinner and there should be no reason at all for a EMPLOYEE, to be so utterly disrespectful and gross about a customer when she was just enjoying her time. Overhearing the conversation between the host OR server with the bartender if you guys allow people like that to be working who bully people for simply being there, that is wrong. The two girls words that were exachanged were so disgusting and I hope something changes. Went to Ernie's to celebrate my husband's 81st birthday. 1) We asked to be placed in the bar area to enjoy the view. Many empty tables, but it took over 10 minutes for the server to notice us. Prices higher than expected. We chose a steak dinner that came with mashed potatoes, asparagus and marcel mushroom sauce. 2) They entire dinner (including steak) served in a bowl which made it almost impossible to cut the steak and asparagus. 3) There wasn't any marcel sauce. The cook covered the potatoes with a gravy like the type served on biscuits for breakfast. Service continued to be very slow. When we were asked about our dinner, we shared our concerns.The manager agreed to take a percentage off the over $100 check. Yup, he took off $5.80. We went to Ernie's before it was sold and the service and food was 4 stars. RECOMMENDATION: Send everyone for training! Take them to a good steakhouse to see how it is done correctly. read more

The only reason this isn't 5star is the horrific music. The food was spectacular. The view was enchanting. The service was just right, not in your face, respectful and there when you needed them. We ask for the heavy rock and roll, so loud we were yelling at each other o er it, to be turned down. I brought my Dad here for his birthday. First we waited almost 5 minutes for a hostess to notice us. I finally went into the bar and looked for someone. Next we're seated but the waitress forgot about us. As we all ordered iced tea and wasn't offered a refill in over 30 minutes. After an hour our dinners arrived the steaks were cooked correctly but the meat was too difficult to chew. The asparagus was bigger than the thickness of my thumb. When the waitress noticed we were having trouble with our dinner she offered to get the manager. He came over and didn't introduce himself and decided to only take $6 off of 1 meal. We could only eat 1/2 of 2 meals as they weren't edible. My husband and I have had many meals at this restaurant and they were amazing. Sadly that was when the old owner still had the place. We had a family dinner after hearing that it was under new ownership. We all had different steaks, and they were all excellent and very tender. The potato soup with prime rib was excellent. Service was awesome, our server was very attentive to our needs without hovering or disturbing our family meal. Over all experience was excellent. We live in Lewiston where Bitesize is the normal. She had a short fill of her 2nd choice. 3 of us ordered the small prime rib and they were out of it at 6:oo on a Thursday so we ordered 1 rib steak and 2 New Yorks. The rib steak was very fatty and the other steaks under seasoned and tough. If you are calling yourself a steakhouse the steaks should better. We ordered coffee and desert, which were wonderful. The coffee was lukewarm. It got sent back. We got the bill for $313.00 and there was a $10. Service fee for using a credit card. The service was great. Everyone was attentive and courteous. Sweeping long distance views of the city of Lewiston and surrounding mountains can be seen from the bar area, which includes a beautiful, well appointed and comfortable outdoor seating area. We sat at the bar, where our server / bartender Garrett gave us a personable and attentive experience. I had the prime rib which included two sides from a long list of choices, and I chose the side salad (large and very diverse) and the baked potato, and the wife had the "Ernie's Steakhouse Salad", that included shaved prime rib, and stated that it was very good, (and she only eats beef about twice a year). A whole loaf of fresh baked bread is included with some entrees, and a well chosen list of about eight draught beers is offered. This place is easy to miss if you're coming from the West, as the sign is difficult to read from that approach.
