We rated this bakery a 18/20 ( 4 people: 5 stars possible) The location is unassuming (located next to a subway) and quite simple inside. The tables are kind of rustic and the decor is French and American but not in the sticky pastel sort of way. It was nice that there were no gimmicks... they didn't need them. We ordered a small mocha, latte, 2 pain au chocolates, and a ham&cheese croissant. The coffee is brewed perfectly and it's incredibly fresh. It left a clean mouth feel that was a dramatic departure from big box coffee. The food is made in-house. The bread is crisp and flakey on the outside and chewy inside. The flavors were very pronounced. It was amazing! The only holdbacks were that some in our group didn't try food and so could not give a full 5 stars. We went on Christmas Eve and by the time we got there everything was sold out except for drinks. Got a Mocha and it was delicious. Based on all the food being sold out in the morning, I am guessing that the food is great too. Owner is super nice and friendly. Large parking so parking it not a problem. What a fantastic hidden gem! If you're looking for an authentic French bakery, this is the place to go. The owner, who was running the front of house, was so welcoming and personable, and everything we ordered was incredibly fresh and flavorful. We tried savory crepes and a sandwich--both absolutely delicious and made with care. Having been to France, I can honestly say the food here transported me right back. Of course, we couldn't resist grabbing some pastries to go. The beignets were light, fluffy, and perfectly coated in sugar that melted in your mouth--such a delightful treat! The café itself is charming and spotless, with plenty of clean, well-kept tables. Everything was so good that we completely forgot to take photos while we were there--so I'm including a picture of what we brought home (and can't wait to enjoy later tonight!). The best croissants and the pain Au chocolat is better than any I've had in France. Great sandwiches that made for wonderful lunches in Zion. After we tried it as we headed out to Zion the first day it was a consensus of all 7 members of our family group to do a repeat visit the next day. we've been visiting The French Bakery for many years when we are in town visiting family and just realized there is new ownership. we were greeted right away and he pointed out they have a menu of crepes and sandwiches and other items along with their baked goods. i noticed they had simplified their workspace was very open and spotless! their baked goods were actually a tad bit better than before! the puff pastry on many items is so flaky and light! we have often recommended this bakery to friends and will continue to do so. read more

Amazing pastries! Just like in Florence! The employees were nice. They could use a dedicated barista as we had to wait quite a while with our delicious pastries in front of us. The espresso was bitter. I had to question the double. It was tiny, definitely smaller than what is served it Italy. They really need to up their coffee game. Honestly; what a wonderful find. In my opinion this place hit all the marks. We had two of the their breakfast items, the Croque Madame and the Crêpe Jambon/Oeufs/Gruyère, both were excellent. Served hot off the grill with lots of delicious gooey cheese. The coffee was also hot and delicious. For dessert we split their fruit filled beignets. Nathan and his brother really a great job not only with the food, but as welcoming hosts. They make you feel like you're in their home. I look forward to our next visit, with friends this time. This unassuming bakery has quickly become a family favorite in St. George. Some other bakeries in the area may look more impressive, and those are legitimately awesome as well, but the quality of ingredients used makes Ernie's worth more than a few visits. The baked goods are all very nice, but for our family, the Quiche Lorraine (the owner's family recipe) is a standout product. We've started to buy a few of them one or two days in advance of hosting company and pop them in the oven before serving. Heated as such, these have been reviewed by our guests as "the best quiches ever!" The egg and cheese base is dense and complex, the ham is spectacular, and the crisp and flaky crust is somehow a highlight (I typically despise pie crust). Pro tip: if you're patient and dining in, they'll heat your order in the oven! read more

We chose this bakery based solely on the positive reviews on Yelp! Upon entering, we noticed a few small tables and a large glass case that featured beautiful French pastries. The workers were friendly and welcoming. It appeared that the bakery recently opened due to its non-permanent menu / signage, which felt a bit "busy" for the eyes to read. With that said, I had asked a customer what they would recommend; a savory ham and swiss crepe with Dijon crema or the Morning Boost smoothie. Nathan the owner, and his brother, do such a tremendous job both in quality of timeliness of the food and coffee, but also the level of service and atmosphere. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and haven't been able to get in and I finally did and I have to say I am so impressed. The quiche was one of the best if not the best I've ever had and I've had quiche and France and a New York that were pretty high up there and this I think outdid it the texture, the flavor, the texture, the crust. The fluffiness is awesome. I also ordered a clear to take home and that'll be my next meal for the day, but this was wonderful. The chef is truly great. The coffee his wife made was amazing and they were so nice. I can't wait to go there for lunch sometime and get a salad and the mint lemonade.
