I'm sorry but the only good thing about this place is the vibe and style. The food was mediocre at best. The service was terrible, and it all started when we walked in and the declined us seats inside since we had a service dog. Which is against all of the ADA and Utah state laws. And would only allow us a seat outside and even then gave us a lot of trouble about it. All and all not accommodating at all.

Carly was our server, she was friendly. I didn't really like the seating inside as it is SO close to your neighbors. For that reason we sat outside on the patio which is nice. I ordered the fish and chips, fries were cold, but the fish was good. I thought it was a bit strange to bring out ketchup, tarter sauce and vinegar in tiny little cups ONLY half full. Seems extremely cheap to me when I am paying $22.00 for my meal. My husband had the Seattle dog which was good. The menu doesn't have a lot of variety.

The food was delicious! Stick to the Dixie Chicken sandwich and you will be thrilled with the combination of slaw, pickles and tender perfectly fried chicken. The tots were great, the fish tacos amazing! Not sure I'd order the Korean tacos again but they were tasty enough. The only flaw, no fountain soda and no tap water. The only drinks available are a smattering of canned soda and bottled water. The service was minimal, as this is a fast casual place, so as expected. I'd go back for the chicken Sando but would definitely bring my own beverage.

This place is a hidden gem in St. George. Have seen it a million times, because it's right next to the mall. We never went in, because we were usually on a mission to go shop at the mall! Finally tried it for lunch today, and it was phenomenal. Got the Fat Stack burger and shoestring fries. The patty was so good, and the pickles and ranch were house made and delicious. Fries are cooked in beef tallow, so are extra flavorful. Also, the restaurant itself is cool. Has a cool vibe, and was very clean. And staff was super helpful and kind.

Great food and service. We appreciated being able to have our dog on the outdoor seating area. They even made her a special burger. Highly recommend

This place is SUPER fun! It has a semi-limited menu and every single thing sounded amazing. We ordered the Wachos with the Korean bbq beef and I've been thinking about them for days! The atmosphere is cool and there was plenty of seating (I didn't see any high chairs, but they may keep some in the back). Accessibility: No automatic door opener; plenty of room for wheelchair maneuvering; no steps

The decor was very eclectic and colorful. Smaller dining area than anticipated which just made the wait that much more worth it! Luckily we had a reservation because they were full! All the food we ordered was so good! The flavors meshed well. The variety of food in the menu isn't huge but what they had was perfectly placed. Even tho it was packed, we didn't have a big wait for food. Our server was attentive and friendly

We stopped in on a Sunday while in town, and it seemed to be one of the only open options that was not typical fast food. It was a great choice! Unique, delicious options! Just the right mix of toppings, and they did not skimp on ingredients or toppings/sauce etc. Primarily tacos and burgers, with tots and waffle fries. We also tried the slushee of the day, which was surprisingly delicious and refreshing! Small restaurant with relaxed vibe inside. Three tables and a bar to sit at inside, and more outside seating as well. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Great playlist!! They were out of a couple menu options we were interested in, but had clear signs stating what they were out of and were kind about helping us choose other options. Given the extra 8000+ people in town for the marathon this weekend, definitely understandable and they get kudos in my book for keeping a great attitude and moving forward with kindness. Way to go!

Our only complaint, and the reason I didn't give 5 stars was the service was SO SLOW. We waited about 20 minutes to get seated, totally understandable, but once we were seated it was about 15 minutes before we saw our waitress, then another 20 minutes before they brought our drinks(we ordered food the same time we ordered drinks). Once food came we saw her one time in the middle and then didn't see her again for another 30 minutes. We ordered desserts, waited about 15 minutes for those and didn't get one of our desserts delivered. So it was a rough service experience. The food was really good and the outside patio was great seating! We will come back but hopefully have better service!

My husband thinks the steak (locally raised) is one of the best steaks he's ever had. He also enjoyed their burgers. The tamarind glazed salmon and risotto dish, salads and mashed potatoes were my favorite, but truly, everything brought to the table was high-quality and delicious. Including the dessert (key lime pie and crème brûlée). Our server, Whitney, was wonderful. She is friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about the menu and potential adjustments (made recommendations that accommodated my gluten-free diet). She was a real joy and made the dining experience all the more special. We will definitely be back!

First of all we had our two kids with us and they immediately brought out a plate of apples for them to start snacking on. Very thoughtful and helpful. It kept them busy until we ordered and appetizers were brought out. I ordered the biscuits, the brussels sprouts, and the chicken confit. I couldn't eat the biscuits but my husband and kids devoured them. They looked incredible. I will be dreaming about the brussels sprouts until I return. My husband and I both agreed they were the best we've ever had. The chicken was great too- would have preferred white meat and additional sauce but still good. When we arrived we waited for the host and informed him we had a 10:15 reservation. Despite there being multiple empty tables, he informed us we would not be able to be seated until closer to our reservation which threw me off. We were seated around our reservation time and given some time to look at the menu. Our server was very helpful and kept checking in on us to see if we had any questions or if we were ready to order. She did take the time to inform us that we should order before a big party as our meal would take longer if we waited. We ordered buttermilk biscuits to share and I ordered the arrival of the sun (two eggs your way, bacon or sausage, potatoes, and country bread). The buttermilk biscuits were brought to us first and were 2 large fluffy biscuits served with butter and jam. The butter was good quality and jam was made in house, but was slightly runny, but overall a delicious combo. The arrival of the sun arrived shortly after and was a large portion. The potatoes were my personal favorite, seasoned and crispy! Wood ash rye is in a hotel in downtown St. George. The hotel itself has valet parking that is $22. However, if you arrive early enough you are able to find parking on the street, just make sure you look out for any parking signs. The inside of wood ash rye is small, but they offer an outside bar, several large tables in the center, and booths off to the side. In addition, they have a bar just outside the restaurant. They did have a sign posted that dogs are welcome on the patio which is a plus! -1 star for service for reservation time and empty tables

It definitely did not disappoint! I had a bit of a hard time finding this place as it's in an industrial area and kind of hiding, but it was worth the journey. For my drink, I ordered the blackberry smash, which was a mule with a fruity twist. It was delicious and much stronger than other drinks I've had in this area. For my meal, I went with the highly-acclaimed fish and chips, which did indeed live up to their hype. The fish was perfectly fried and the fries had a good bite to them. I also really enjoyed the fry sauce that tagged along with the dish. Our server was also wonderful and made helpful suggestions throughout the meal. This was a great experience and I would definitely return for future meals when I'm in the area!

Ok, for the food, the fried pickles were the best thing we had, get those. Light and crispy batter with a decently thick pickle chip inside, really good. The food, fish and chips, spicy reuben, chicken sandwich, and bbq wings. Fish and chips, decent enough, nothing to write home about, delicate batter, great flavor. Spicy Reuben...what a trainwreck, the meat was stringy and annoying to eat. The sauerkraut was sweet? Just terrible. The bbq wings were as described, so not bad. The chicken sandwich was not great either, chicken was dry and kind of hard to eat. The garlic parm fries though? Amazing. Get those as your side. We also had the Guavala and the Hef, both were really good and a steal at $6 each. They also have a small store front with no prices, frustrating. Overall, won't be back again, maybe we just came on a bad day, but once was enough.

There are places you go... and then there are places that feel like you've finally come home…read more The Painted Pony is the latter. We adore slipping away for lunch and settling onto the patio, where the world softens--shade drapes gently overhead, birds sing as if they've been hired just for the occasion, and time... well, time slows down enough to breathe. The service is nothing short of immaculate--attentive in that quiet, effortless way that makes you feel seen without ever being interrupted. And the food... oh, the food. The bacon-wrapped dates must have been crafted in heaven... or perhaps meant for the gods and somehow gifted to us. The tuna melt was so transcendent I found myself wondering if I had ever truly tasted tuna before... or if I had just been living a lesser version of the experience all along. And the beef bourguignon... my heavens. It was as if your grandmother--if she were also a five-star chef--had been waiting for you, simmering something rich and soulful to welcome you back after a long journey. Even the tea felt royal... and the mocktails were so delightful, so thoughtfully made, that not once did we miss the alcohol. The Painted Pony isn't just a meal... it's a return.

Tucked into the Tower Building, this New American restaurant nails the Southwestern-meets-fine-dining vibe: intimate indoor seating with contemporary regional art, fresh flowers, and soft lighting, plus a charming patio for when the weather cooperates. It feels romantic and relaxed without being stuffy--perfect for date night or a special occasion while visiting southern Utah.c91b9be2267e Service was attentive and friendly without hovering. Our server knew the menu well and made solid wine recommendations (they've got a nice list, and no-corkage Mondays are a nice touch if you BYO from a Utah store). Portions are generous for the price point--definitely not the tiny-plate nonsense you sometimes get at fine-dining spots. We started with the carrot jalapeño soup (bright, flavorful, and a nice kick) and the baked brie, which was rich and perfectly paired with the seasonal chutney and crostini. For mains, the bone-in pork chop and the hanger steak were highlights--well-cooked, juicy, and packed with flavor from the fresh ingredients and thoughtful sauces. The sides (mac & cheese and haricot verts) were solid too. We finished with the key lime pie, which was a bright, creamy winner. One note, though: pass on the crab cakes. They're a menu staple (around $16, served with something like pomegranate salsa or poblano aioli depending on the season), but ours were mostly filler with a noticeably fishy taste. Not worth the spot on the table when there are so many stronger starters and entrées.781e4d Overall, we'd happily return to The Painted Pony. It's one of the better fine-dining options in St. George--great atmosphere, strong service, and mostly excellent food at reasonable prices for what you get. Just skip the crab cakes and you'll have a winner of a meal. 4/5 stars. Recommended for visitors and locals alike. Reservations advised, especially on weekends.
