As a roadside bar it was fantastic. Beer selection was very west coast, but also plenty of options from IPA's to sours and pils. Very friendly group of locals and a dedicated staff (and family) that make it an inviting place. No hard alcohol and no wine. Don't be surprised if you walk in what you think is a side door you see a mechanic working on a tractor. I went here today with my best friend for our annual "basic bitch fall day". Our bartender was Jamie and she was the funniest and most personable human ever. Jamie immediately pointed out that if we were being basic we had to A. Order the pumpkin spice beer and B. Take a selfie. We politely indicated that we couldn't take pictures because of the many signs indicating a no cell phone policy. She said that only counts for phone calls and proceeded to take several pictures of us at different angles. We also had the pleasure to meet her dog 'Boy' who was the sweetest thing ever. Great little beer bar right off of Lakeville. Came here a few weeks ago and had a great time. Walking into the bar is like walking back in time a bit. My Farm Girl daughter took me here when my Cousin from Alaska was in town for her book tour. My daughter is a "regular" and the place was great! I loved the down home atmosphere, the middle of nowhere location, the characters in the bar which reminded me of a version of "Cheers" , country style. Over a dozen great beers on tap. There were 2 from Lagunitas right up the road, Allegash White, Stone IPA, Trumer Pils and many others. No cell phone policy is great (use it-buy a round for the whole place). We were headed to Clear Lake, so the wife and I had only one. 16 oz. of Trumer for $4? Seriously. My wife had the Allegash for $4.50. Both were poured in the proper glass as well. The owner obviously cares. They also offer 4 and 8 oz. pours if you want to try a few. Didn't see any food other than Kettle Chips hanging behind the bar. Definitely be back! read more

After a full day in San Francisco, heading back to Napa, we were directed (due to traffic) to venture off the main drag onto a country road. Ernie's Tin Bar was an "Oasis in the Desert". We cruised past and decided to check it out. Turing around at the "Call Box", we did not know what to encounter....Inside was a selection of beers that rivaled any, that I've been to either on the east coast or west. They had 20 choices of drafts, no bells no whistles, just honest to god good beer and good people! We had no idea what to expect, what we got was honest hard working Sonoma/Napa people, enjoying some suds after work. I've long been curious about this place but must admit the number of large pick up trucks in the lot was a bit off-putting as I thought of it as a man's joint. However, I was so gladly wrong. While there is a very interesting mix of clientele (older farmers mixed with young professionals and everything in-between) it all works. First the beer: an incredible mixture of craft beers on tap (approx 15) plus a newly tapped Firkin every Friday (beer brewed/fermented right in the keg) makes this a must for beer connoisseurs. The crowd is incredible - friendly, talkative and there to have a good time. Ernie is an excellent host- abundantly friendly and easy-going who is well versed in great beer and fabulously entertaining with his card tricks. Want to go to a bar where a bag of jerky gets passed down and everyone is encouraged to share/partake? How about a place where you know no one and it's packed and everyone is friendly and happily offers you a seat and a bowl of peanut?? This place is a winner. Great combo of excellent beers, great atmosphere and reasonable prices. You'll feel like you stepped back in time to when life was simpler and undoubtedly happier. We'll be back! An Update: Ernie's now offers a FREE, round-trip shuttle to places that are within 15 miles of the bar. Happily, my home is within range and myself plus three others were picked up by the very friendly driver and taken there and back making for a great night out without any worries about driving. Equally amazing is the fact that you can call in advance and make a reservation for pick up and drop off - making it easy to plan. When we arrived at Ernie's we were met with warm greetings and thanks from both Ernie and Chris for using the shuttle service! I am so impressed by their concern for the safety of their patrons and everyone else on the road. The shuttle is free but we did tip the driver, which he graciously accepted. For more info on the shuttle, just call the bar and they'll get you in touch with the driver. I love this place and now that the driving isn't a worry, we'll be there more frequently. Stopped by this place on our way from race track. The lady at the bar says what can I get you. I say let me look at your menu. While my friends are ordering there beers. I couldn't decide so I say. Just give me what he is having. I guess give me is not proper tongue. Next thing I know she's calling me a mother F&$&er. I didn't think that was called for. So I finished the beer and left.
