The puzzles are soooo good!!! Even tho the room isn't very high techy, the puzzles are actually quite challenging. We did not finish the red room, we ran out of time. I came back here to celebrate my early birthday, and they were kind enough to give me a birthday discount for one free person. We paid for four people but ended up doing the escape room with five! My wife called ahead, and they honored the offer, so it's definitely worth calling ahead if you're celebrating a birthday to see if that's an option. This time, we did the Corpse Whisperer escape room, and we loved it. We escaped with 15 minutes to spare, though we used six hints, hehe. The room was well-designed, and I'll admit it was slightly scary, so be prepared if that's not your thing. I would totally recommend trying that room or using Escape Duck if you want a fun experience. Both times I've been here, I've enjoyed the puzzles, and I think this is one of the best escape room locations I've visited. read more

Great way to spend time with friends/family. Love the set up and the elements of the games. The place is located in a small plaza in the corner. Parking shouldn't be an issue. Upon arrival, you will meet the game master at the lobby and he/she will go over the rooms with you. We signed up for the Grand Thieves Room. 2 adults and 2 children. I enjoyed the unexpected and most importantly everyone had fun and contributed to the escape room. Let's just say that the Thieves Won and had successfully gotten away. Staff was great and friendly. The clues were helpful but didn't take away from the fun. I would recommend the Grand Thieves. We have done other escape rooms before and this one would definitely be in the top fave. read more

We hosted a 10 year old birthday party here and it was a great time!! A group of 9 kids (plus me, for adult supervision) attempted to escape the Great Thieves room and got super close. Everyone had a great time and the iPad they gave us was extremely helpful to get hints when we got stuck (very frequently lol). The puzzles were so fun and the kids had a blast!!! I'd say that this room was a bit difficult for a group of 10 year old newbies to solve, but with the clues, they were able to figure things out. I've done a few escape rooms over the course of my life, but so far none have stood out as much to me as Escape Duck in San Gabriel. My friend wanted to go to an escape room for her birthday party, so I picked one that was relatively close to her and to myself. The strip mall the escape room is in, is quite small, so we were worried that there would not be much space. Surprisingly, there was enough space for a fun and entertaining experience. With a total of 9 people, we ended up picking the Grand Thieves escape room. The escape room had a side quest of trying to find hidden coins to get extra prizes after escaping the room. The story was quite unique - I love when escape rooms require people to split up so that every individual has to contribute to the puzzles. Unfortunately, with the way escape rooms are designed, once you've finished a specific course, doing it again would take away all the surprise elements. However, I will come back to try their other rooms for sure. read more

We had lots of fun with the Fatal Invitation Theme Room! Average price among other places, this place is quite smaller with I believe 3-4 theme rooms per each location, but dont worry, it doesnt impact the quality. The room is well-setup with interesting plots, and the mechanic is also engaging, unlimited hints. Walkie Talkie provided for any immediate communication needs with the workers. Great set up at this location, and plenty of parking and accessibility. We had a party of 6 10-11 year old for a birthday celebration. Penny welcomed us during our first walk through and Elena helped facilitate our event the day of our reservation. We also were provided 4 options for themes and the Grand Thieves was most age appropriate for our girls. The girls had a BLAST! we had a 75 minute session which we just enough time, the girls were engaged and enjoyed the puzzles and problem solving. My daughter was elated with excitement and she wants to do this escape room again in the future. The venue offers plenty of props for photos in the lobby and it's comfy if you're waiting outside. Came here to celebrate my sister's birthday and we had so much fun! They accept walk-ins! We called ahead since we didn't have a reservation and were informed they had availabilities for the same day. We chose to get the room that was open at that same moment- they held the room for us for a few minutes (15 for the drive, and another 15 so we could all use the restroom beforehand- there's only one single-person toilet) Both the man who answered the phone and the woman who signed us in and gave us rules & instructions & hints were super friendly and helpful! They spoke very energetically and seemed like they genuinely love what they do :) The escape room itself was immersive, well-planned, and perfect difficulty for the time slot (1 hr). We chose the medium scary theme, which was a detective crime case. The puzzles were challenging, but very manageable. It had three rooms, with a good amount of tasks in each. The story behind our room had an unexpected plot twist! Plus there were a few surprises that actually made us scream! It wasn't too terrifying though, so don't let that deter you from trying We were able to make it outside with 4 minutes to spare! They have a promotion where if you find 5 hidden coins you get to spin the prize wheel once, with a total of 10 coins in the room for two chances. We only found 9 LOL and won a cute keychain! Price was reasonable, with it being only $40 per person for the room we chose. They don't accept card directly, so be sure to have Zelle, Venmo, or cash ready The lobby area is decorated with adorable duck plushies, a floral swing, and funny signs for photo ops! My local escape room which is bilingual friendly for both English and Chinese speakers! It's a great idea that I think more escape rooms should implement. Not only that, I feel that they also do things differently than your typical escape room, which keeps things feeling fresh as an avid escape room enthusiast! We've come to do 2 rooms so far: Corpse Whisperer last year and Grand Theieves this year! The staff are pretty flexible, even if some of the party arrive a couple minutes late, they don't rush us and give us time to use the restroom and sign waivers if needed. Grand Thieves had an additional game element to the escape room: although we were all thieves involved in the heist, there were roles in which asked for different requirements from each of us (pulled from a hand of papers your DM gave us before we started the game) that does come into effect and adds to the story! Which, is pretty cool and haven't seen an escape room do that before, so I very much enjoyed that! I also like the use of practical use of items to solve things: rather than the typical rows of keylocks or padlocks (though there were a few of those). Using things that use common sense, was very satisfying when I was able to piece some of those together. Logic, spacial recognition, pattern recognition, memorization, correlation, and practical logic made Grand thieves so much fun! For both escape experiences, there is more than one room involved, that you have to go to back and forth between a few rooms, which isn't super typical of an escape room, as normally it's just one singular room you must escape out of. There is parking in the lot of the plaza that shouldn't be a problem, especially at night, since most stores in the plaza are closed by then. Another notable thing is that Ducks Curry Japanese restaurant is also open at night until 8pm and is a great place for dinner. Though they both have Duck in thier name, it's very much a coincidence as Duck Escape has another location in Rowland Heights. It's cool to have an escape room in the SGV, and seems to have become a tradition for us to come to this escape room at this point- we plan to finish the last and most difficult room next year! The puzzles were cool and involved. Sadly my geriatric memory couldn't keep track of my job and thus our mission stalled but it was great fun. A mission card I could hold onto would have been super helpful. Also there is a computer numpad that was not numlocked which made it impossible to enter a code. That caused us tenish minutes of stalling and a boatload of clues requested. Either memorize your roles or take a pic of them since playing the role is essential. We could have called the person with the walkie talkie but honestly because of the clues I didn't think of that. read more

Came in on a Wednesday for my kid's 13th birthday celebration with her 5 friends. They did the Grand Thieves mission. Jayden was really helpful for the booking and preparing the kids for the mission. They give you a walkie talkie and an tablet to carry with you. You will need the tablet to get clues. The area was spacious with multiple rooms and a hallway. We were a group of 7, and that was plenty. I would say 10 would be the max. The front room is decorated with ducks. (there is no DUCK theme mission). Along with the mission, there are coins hidden that you collect and redeem for a a gift at the end. I gave 4 stars because it was a bit pricey. They didn't offer any discounts for weekday afternoons. read more

I went with my girlfriend, my sister, her boyfriend, and we had such an amazing time! We did The Corpse Whisperer room, and it was a rather fun escape room. The puzzles had use our heads, but I believe we were able to get through it with a little assistance from the UNLIMITED hints that they allowed, but we didn't use it that much, because we wanted to experience solving the puzzles, we were just stuck at a few things. The owner, Jayden, was incredibly friendly and welcoming! Honestly, one of the nicest hosts we've met. We accidentally took one of their walkie talkie, but when we brought it back they were super cool about it, which says a lot about their customer service. We also loved the bonus side quest! We had to find hidden tokens around the room! It added a fun extra challenge for the whole group. For every 5 tokens you find, you get a spin on the reward wheel (only a max of 10 tokens). We were able to roll free water and free snacks, but they were out of snacks that day, but they made it up to us with a free key chain, which was awesome! Even though we arrived about 7 minutes late (they recommended arriving 10 minutes early), they still welcomed us with a smile and made sure we had the full experience. I paid around $160 for the four of us, and it was absolutely worth it. We're definitely planning to come back soon to try Grand Thieves and Escape the Red Room! read more

Another escape room day! Came here with a group of 4 to try out the Ghost Whisperer room and it did not disappoint. This spot is located in a small plaza and Ducks (a restaurant) was also situated there so it was a funny moment when a couple came through the door expecting a restaurant lol. The room was very well-put together with medium level puzzles that us 4 were able to figure out. The storyline was compelling with a plot twist at the end. Communication for hints was done through an ipad that is easy to operate. One thing that makes Escape Duck stand out is that they have a fun incentive: collect x amount of gold coins and you can trade them in for a prize! We only found 5 which didn't make the cut for any prize but the host was really sweet and let us get one anyway. They have another room called Grand Thieves which is longer at 75 minutes and can take in up to 12 players at a hard level. Aiming to try that next! read more

This is the worst Escape Room I've ever done. There was a part that didn't work so the game master had to fast forward, but that skipped one of the main audio portions so the story didn't make sense. The overall story didn't make too much sense, even after he explained it. So the pieces didn't fit. The puzzles were a bit mediocre. I've done over 50 escape rooms and this was unfortunately the worst one I've done. For $40 person, I don't recommend this place. read more

Super friendly staff and decent puzzles. I did the Grand Thieves room and was enjoying it until the plot twist. I absolutely hated how the plot twist was set up. Right when the plot twist happened, I was mentally checked out. I couldn't focus on solving the puzzles and no longer wanted to play anymore. I would like to explain more as to why I hate Grand Thieves but I can't really explain much without giving it away. It definitely ruined my night. This was the first time I became infuriated at a game. I know, how silly. It's just a game. It might just be me since other reviews seem to enjoy Grand Thieves. One of my friends did agree with me but isn't as mad as I am about it. Edit 1/2/2025: Hi Jayden, thanks for your concern. I'll explain more. Hopefully I don't spoil the twist. When doing an escape room with friends, I'm looking forward to a collaborative effort in order to solve the puzzles as a team, which was there before the twist. However, when the twist occurred, I felt betrayed. The twist didn't allow for a completely collaborative effort because of the roles of each person. Also, the role of the people who knew the twist, was logically inconsistent. It doesn't make sense for the people who knew about the twist to be AS collaborative as they were before the twist because of their ulterior motive. I think they should be as uncollaborative as possible without giving away their role. At least that way, I wouldn't have felt as betrayed and things would have made more sense when the twist occurred. The twist was so jarring when it occurred, I could no longer concentrate on the task at hand. Had known that there was going to be a twist initially, I would have felt differently but I know the roles don't allow for that. The feeling of betrayal and hatred for the twist/unfairness to certain roles is the main reason for the 1 star. I might be stepping out of line here but my advice is as a business, you should not change things just because one customer isn't happy with the result. If the masses enjoy your product, keep it how it is. I just have to be honest in my review because this was my experience. With that said, a few adjustments that might have helped are: instructions to how each role should behave; hints throughout the game for each person to figure out the others roles; if your intent was to split up the group, a game can still have that while having everyone work together collaboratively. read more
