If you are looking for an escape room that goes beyond just locking you in a room with some padlocks, Trapped Escape Room in San Dimas is on a completely different level. We just finished Pandora's Box and I am still reeling from how incredible the experience was The Atmosphere and Effects The production value here is insane. The set design is incredibly high end and detailed, but what really blew us away were the special effects. I have never seen weather simulations like this in an escape room before. The way they integrated environmental effects made it feel like we had stepped into another dimension. It is easily the most involved and immersive set I have ever seen. The Puzzles The puzzles were refreshing, intriguing, and most importantly, unique. They were not your standard find a key or open a box tropes. Instead, they were cleverly woven into the narrative of Pandora's Box and kept our whole group engaged the entire time. The MVP: Jack (Game Master Extraordinaire) The absolute highlight of our night was our Game Master, Jack. I cannot say enough good things about him! Jack is not just a host; he is a phenomenal actor. He was so deeply involved in the story and stayed in character in a way that truly elevated the stakes. His performance made the whole experience feel like we were starring in a movie rather than just playing a game. Final Verdict This is hands down the most involved escape room I have ever done. Tan building event was a success both groups finished and nobody yelled at each other.... Pretty professionally run and pretty darn challenging as well... Hayley is phenomenal. She was so helpful when booking and they really out did themselves with their customer service. Jack was an amazing game master and entertainer. He truly made the experience and we will def be back to finish the rooms we have yet to do! We ended up doing two rooms back to back and it was so fun. We did Pandora's box and X-13 of which both were unique, had vastly different puzzles and the BEST part was that they have hidden puzzles that the game master uses if you're beating the clock. It really felt like you got your money's worth because they utilize the whole time. This is definitely a must stop place for escape rooms. Also-- they have a punch card!! What I truly love about Trapped is that the staff, whether in San Dimas, Upland, and Las Vegas, they are all very nice and take pride in their rooms. They are the only place that gives back incentives that make you truly want to come back. For instance, they give a free shirt on the 3rd game you do with them, regardless of locations. Trapped is our favorite! We have done every escape room in upland and San dimas! Now they just need to come out with a few more! Just did x-13 and really liked the gal who was our mission leader (Rowen?) did an excellent job! They are creative and have fun interactive elements. What's up: Escape rooms can be fun if you have the right people with you. It can be awesome if the venue does a good job creating the puzzles and Trapped! definitely did it well. Parking: Located right off the 57 FWY, parking is plentiful. It's not too far from the Red Roof Inn. Environment: We signed up for a game the day of on their website. They had plenty of openings and games available. When we arrived, we signed in and watched a short video explaining the rules. There are small lockers where we stashed our gear (no phones allowed!). The staff members were really awesome and they made it a very immersive game; we felt like we were actual agents with our gear and vests :) What was ordered: - Operation X-13 Yay/Nay/Meh: Yay. We had a fun experience. After stumbling around a bit, we managed to solve and escape from Operation X-13. Staff members were very in character and it made it so fun. I had a great time at the upland location, so decided to book a room with just me and my 8 year old and 4 year old sons. We did grandma's surprise, and it was definitely a fun surprise type of room. Great theming inside and good combination of puzzles. There was one dexterity puzzle I wasn't a huge fan of, but it was cute and thematic enough to get a pass. This room also had extra puzzles to expand your experience if you finish fast. Our GM Rose was also good, and did a good balance of letting me (the adult) do some things, while helping along my son so he could do some puzzles himself. The 4 year old did nothing obviously, but enjoyed the room, especially near the end. There were some flashing lights but nothing scary. It was super easy to book via email for a party room. Staff was friendly and my daughter and her friends had so much fun! It was half the girls first time in a escape room and they all said this was the best. They don't offer any food for the party room but we just ordered Michaelangelo's pizza and picked it up quick for the party. Oh my goodness! From start to finish it was a 10/10 experience. Right when you walk in you see a clean, bright, fun lobby. There's puzzles and seating along the wall. They have a cool "clock" on the front desk. The front desk person walked us through everything and made everything clear. Had answers for all the random questions we had not relating to the process of the event. Super fun personality. Then we got brought back to the room and the lady who started us played her role very well and we had a fun time. The set up is great and the place is clean and everyone was super helpful and clear. We opened Pandora's Box and realized we opened a portal! But we closed it before time ran out. Pandora's Box was an immersive experience. Every puzzle solved triggered some cool special effects. Because it relies heavily on storytelling, the format is extremely linear and is well-suited for smaller groups. Some of the puzzles require patience to to get through but were satisfying to complete. Linnea was our host and deserves a standing ovation for staying in character when she set the scene for us at the beginning. Great room!!! We'll be back to do their other rooms! read more

Okay I took my grandson to this place and had such a great time. My little guy was a little afraid but seem to have such a good time. This place makes you think, outside the box. We went on the room "Pandora Box". A little more difficult than the others. I'm taking my daughter there next week. It last about 1.5 hours total time but we'll worth it. Our group of 8 did the Pandora's Box. Initially we had a group of 9 for Grandmas surprise but our group had a change of plans so we called ahead to make the arrangements. The lady I was on the phone with allowed us to do so, which helped us fit our needs so it was nice. Pandora's box was a more theatrical experience. There were light, water, and heat that made the experience more interactive. However for our group of people the tasks were not enough and left majority of us just standing around doing nothing. This room is not a typical escape room that you would do at another place. Whether that is better or worse would be up to you but this room should only be for 3-4 people. Each task is done one at a time so it's not like everyone searching the room, so very slow paced for a timed escape room. There was an actress/host so that was interesting. Overall, I was not super pleased with the experienced and was quite disappointed with how it turned out after the high reviews. As an individual who has tried a large variety of escape rooms and many of them, this was not one that I particularly enjoyed... it was an interested shot at being more theatrical and "immersive" though. I hope when I do try the others they'll be a bit different. read more

I've been here twice with friends and can't wait to try another room. We've done the Grandma's Surprise and Operation X-13 and enjoyed both a lot. The game masters were very into their roles and did a great job in playing their "characters" as well as providing friendly and knowledgeable service for registration and all. Shoutouts to Jack and Rose! The thing I like a lot about this place is that they make sure to give you your money's worth by providing bonus puzzles so that you get a full hour of escape room fun even if you solve the "basic" escape in under an hour. I never thought about how if you happen to do a really good job and finish in 20 minutes or something, you kind of get less for your money - so Trapped! helps make sure you don't get essentially penalized for being a good solver. Only thing I don't love is the price, but it's pretty standard for escape rooms. And at least they give you a 10% discount code at the end to book a return visit. I think they offer some specials at Christmas time also. read more

We did the room "Operation: Z-13." As a group of 7 who has done about 80+ escape rooms we felt It was overall a solid room. Production was 4/5. We felt immersed with the props they provided for us. The technology involved in the clues were really cool, however the room is very hint dependent. Scare level was 2.5/5. There's an actor involved who did a great job scaring us. My group and I have done around 20 different escape rooms, varying in all different kinds of difficulty. We did grandma's surprise escape room at this location, and it was quite interesting! Production value was definitely 3.5 to 4 out of five we had a group of six people. We finish the room with about 20 minutes to spare. This room is probably easy to moderate level. So with this company, trapped, supposedly, if you finish the escape room early, the game master has bonus mini games for you to solve... And they guide you to do it or at least start on it. Which I think is pretty cool. I would definitely come back next time to do the operation X - 13. A group ahead of us was doing it and it sounded very theatrical lol. Other neat thing about this place is they do give you loyalty cards. So by your third visit you'll get a free T-shirt and by your fifth visit, You get a free room. read more

This review is LONG overdue! My partner and I completed all of the rooms at Trapped! Escape Room's California locations earlier this year (pre-The Trials of Merlin). The owner and game masters are all excellent, professional, and kind. The thing about Trapped! Escape Room is that each time you visit, you know that you're going to have an immersive experience in a high-quality room with challenging and fun puzzles. I've done countless puzzles over the years in different states, and Trapped! is one of three where I genuinely wanted to do every room they had to offer. They're THAT much fun. Each of the game masters really get into character and have fun with it, which makes it that much more fun. I genuinely love all of their rooms, but if I had to choose, Pandora's Box would probably be my favorite because of how unique it is. Did Pandora's Box and Grandma's Surprise both on the same day with a party of 6. Clean place and very nice staff. Pandora's Box was linear and unfortunately it meant some people stood around watching others solve a puzzle. The game would be better with 2-3 people instead. On the other hand, Grandma's Surprise was nonlinear and a lot more fun with everyone being able to do something. The story was also more interesting and GM cracked some good jokes that we like to laugh about even today when we talk about this room. read more

It's close to home too. Second time here. My wife and I came with some friends a while back and we did the operation x-13 room. Was very cool for the first time. This time we came with our 2 boys. After watching a video and surrendering our belongings into a locker we were off into grandmas room. Without going into major details we escaped with nine minutes left on the clock. Working together really does work! For a family of 4 or group it was perfect. Not to many people bumping into each other or getting to loud. Rooms aren't that big by the way. Played Grandma's Surprise & Pandora's Box (the 181st & 182nd rooms I've ever played) and I have to give a special shout out to Pandora's Box. Both rooms were so fun and immersive with excellent story telling, but Pandora's Box took immersion and experience to the next level! It's inspiring to see that the creators keep bringing new levels and elements to the escape room world that bring excitement to these companies opening back up! I also played X-13 a few years ago at this location and I highly recommend every room here, with a special nod to Pandora's Box!
