If you're claustrophobic, this review might not be the best one for you. Neither would any kind of escaping from a room that you're locked inside of (though technically the door is open the whole time if you gotta leave or use the baño). What I'm really talking about is the oodles of fun (with maybe a little frustration) at Escape Game Long Island. That's just what my fiancé and I, along with her parents and sis, experienced at the end of August. For me, I've done many escape rooms before, but this was my fiancée's first and her parents had only done one so I was hoping things would be explained well by the staff. When we got to the tiny storefront building, we were indeed greeted by a staff member right as we walked in and he slowly (and with a few funny anecdotes) explained everything about the escape room we were going to be doing. Escape Game LI actually has a few locations and new rooms with different themes that they've been renovating and building which is always a nice thing to see and a good way to bring back customers who enjoy themselves. Our room was fitted to be "Cast Away" themed in which we needed to get off the island we had crashed on before a volcano exploded. No actual fire/lava was involved, but plenty of fun ensued for sure. For those not familiar with escape rooms, most run along the same set of guidelines. You get one hour to "escape" and you're given three hints that can be asked for during the hour if you find yourself stuck. I say stuck because you'll be looking for clues, unlocking locks with different codes, and trying to make your way through the room (or rooms) you're "trapped" in. For us, it took all three clues, and a little in-person guidance for us to make it through our escape, but we were able to make it off the island...or out of the door with only a few minutes to spare. Phew. At the end, a common practice is to also take a fun group shot of your successes (or failure) so we did that to round out the experience. I will say Escape Rooms usually price themselves at around $30 or more per person. For Escape Game LI, Sundays and weekdays are $36 each so we went on a Monday to make that pricing work. But my advice to you is stay away from a Friday/Saturday time slot where pricing tends to get a little higher (over $40!). Overall though, Escape Game LI has a great setup and fun staff to make your escaping lots of fun. I've been to many other escape room spots and not all of them are as good as this one (though a few might be better). Just be careful on that pricing and don't worry about claustrophobia; the door is always open. read more

The front desk person was very nice, this place is actually in a strip mall, so there is a parking lot. I booked a room called Legends of a Hidden Temple for 10 people. On their site it says Players 2-12. We were way too many people in there, it was so uncomfortable and people were just running into each other. It was more of an inconvenience to have that many people. The lock didn't work that we tried for about 10 minutes, and we had to call the person because we didn't know what else it could be. Then she said it was broken and that we were right, so she added 15 more minutes. It was cool to do because we were with friends, but we all agreed they should NOT have 10 people in that room - at least not adults, kids - sure. read more

Came with a large group last weekend for my first experience at an "escape game". I've always been a fan of puzzles and riddle solving and was excited to try this place out. Our group did "The Sword in the Stone" and our game master was Jeremy. I won't give away any of the puzzles - but will tell you that some were especially tricky while others you are able to figure out quickly. In this scenario, there are three rooms for you to capture all of the clues. The doors/entrances to additional rooms remain locked until you figure out certain clues. It is definitely an adrenalin rush as you constantly have the clock to think about and it is blinking in red in the first room. If you get stuck or if some clues seem tricky, you can use three clues. Our game master was awesome and really helped to elevate the experience. We did manage to escape with about 14 minutes left on the clock. Our group was 9 people which is almost the capacity (they cap it at 10) and at times it is helpful and at others it can be a bit crowded, and some will be standing around with not much to do. So, if you have a large group, work in smaller teams to make everyone feel included. The price of your escape game is $32/per person. I thought it was a bit expensive, but they do have Groupons so be on the lookout for that. At the end of our game, Jeremy hooked us up with a coupon code for our next adventure. Oh my goodness this place is amazing! It's taken me way too long to write this review, but I was anticipating returning soon, and of course COVID threw a wrench in that one. I guess you can say my group of friends is obsessed with Escape Rooms. On average we do one a month (or at least did one a month). We tried Escape Game Long Island because we wanted to try their room themed after Legends of the Hidden Temple (we're elder millennials, so this show is reminiscent to all of us). I won't spoil anything except to say as soon as we *stepped* foot into the room, we knew we were in for a great experience. This room is probably the most fun I've had in an Escape Room! Others we've also had a great time, but this one thematically took it up another notch. The room was just the right level of difficulty, too. We escaped with about 15 minutes to spare. Given how frequently we do escape rooms, that should be just the right difficult level for a beginner. The staff here was also wonderful! Of course since we showed up in our Legends of the Hidden Temple t-shirts they had even more fun with us. We had planned to return soon but then of course COVID hit not too long after. Hopefully now that businesses have adapted we'll perhaps venture back out. We have other rooms here we'd love to try! Overall, this place is family-friendly, a lot of fun, and the puzzles are well-themed and great experiences. 5 stars! read more

At the end of every year we have an office dinner and a pre dinner event. Over the years we have gone to plays, spent time at a winery, cruise around Manhattan Island, and even weekend trips. This year we left it up to the employees to pick something. An Escape Room was the choice. My first thought was OY, I'm going to hate this. We arrive and find it's a storefront in a strip mall. Hating this a little more. We go in and find there are a bunch of 11-12 year olds in a room screaming. In side my head I'm screaming "GET ME OUT OF HERE." Now we are up and brought to a room. Brandon is our instructor and goes over the whole premise. We are supposed to be in a time warp and have to escape. He leaves, locks us in and it's on. WOW it was so much fun. Everyone was working together to figure out our escape. It was great to see everyone work together step by step on all the clues. We needed an additional clue from Brandon and he was great, just enough to get us over a hump. We had 60 minutes to figure it all out and we escaped with 13 minutes to spare. So OK. I was wrong. What I thought was going to be a bust turned out to be 47 minutes of a lot of fun, and an opportunity for me to see everyone working as a great team. I can see how this experience will translate back at work. I understand that escape rooms are located all over Long Island, so I recommend that you try it. I know you'll love it. Went here for our anniversary! Definitely a "no frills" type of escape room but was a lot of fun!

This was the third Escape the Room game I've done and it was probably the best one! This was a last minute decision to do one while I had a friend in from out of town come to visit. I called up and got someone on the phone right away who was happy to answer any questions I had. I was also happy to learn that this game was able to accommodate our large group of 10 people and even more excited to learn that one of the themes was based off of one of my favorite TV shows growing up, "Legends of the Hidden Temple". We were able to quickly book a time slot and the only thing that was need to hold it was a deposit of $32. This was the cost of one ticket and the deposit counted towards a ticket for a person in the group. I should also note that we had to guarantee 8 people to be in the group for this particular game. I won't give too much away because that will ruin the game if you go, but I have to say we had a TON of fun and were able to make it out in time. My only disappointment was that someone in our group had a Groupon and we were not able to use it due to blackout days. But besides that I had a blast and would try there other game next time I'm in the area looking for something to do. read more

LOVED IT! This was my first Escape the room experience and it couldn't have been more fun. We were a group of 10 (friends and family) and did the Rescue Santa challenge. We escaped the room with 11 minutes to spare! (We used 2 clues though Shhhhh) The puzzles had the perfect amount of diffulculty. Me: Escape Room Enthusiast. Solved many rooms (over 50) and loves logical puzzles. Puzzle Hunt player. Hardcore fanatic of escape rooms. Solving Partner: Escape Room veteran (over 20 rooms) hunter gatherer of the crew. Loves searching and visual puzzles. Drove out to Ronkonkoma today in order to play the two rooms back to back at the location. I am going to break down this review into 3 separate components: The Help: Brandon was our gamemaster for both rooms. He was attentive, kind and incredible helpful. The booking as also involved amazing customer service. Both people we worked with were very cool and very good. 5 stars to them. Room 1: Legends of a Hidden Temple (solved with just 2 people, 3 minutes to spare) The Good: Lots of puzzles crammed into a room. Always something to do. Some of the puzzles were especially neat and unexpected. The Okay: There was absolutely a physical component to this room that had no way around it. If you had physical limitations, you would not be able to play this room. The Could Be Better: The puzzles, at times, could have used much better clueing. Sometimes, there wasn't a clear correlation between what you were looking at and what you were supposed to do. Also, there were many items that were out of place in the realm of the room, really killing the narrative flow. This room: 3 and a half out of 5. Room 2: The Sword in the Stone (final puzzle solved with 3 minutes over) The Good: This is their newest room, and there's some neat technology in this room. There's some really nice scenery as well. The Okay: Like the last room, there is significant movement restrictions. This room is much better than the last, but seriously narrow hallways would make it so some people with handicaps wouldn't be able to play. The Could Be Better: (Sigh). This room suffered from a few major problems that lead me to not being able to recommend it: -Some of the major important puzzles were very vaguely clued (or, in one important point, not clued at all) - There is one puzzle that is a complete bottleneck puzzle. Nothing else could have been solved until this puzzle was complete, and it would take, on the average, 10 minutes of solving time. We were only 2, so it wasn't bad, but what about if you had 6? 8? 10? They'd all be crowded around one timesuck of a puzzle. -There's one puzzle that involves a specific type of locking mechanism that I feel doesn't belong in an escape room. Your mileage may vary, but it was disheartening to waste time on a locking mechanism for so long. - Many of the puzzles in this room, especially at the end, did not match the narrative attached to the room. It seems like puzzles were created and then theme was pasted on after the fact. This Room: 2 out of 5. Even though I didn't love the SINS room, I still recommend this location. Brandon was excellent, and I look forward to what this location can do in the future. read more

Well this was a fun experience! It was my first time doing this. Went with a few coworkers after work one night. I gotta say, it's definitely a game that you really gotta put your mind to haha I'd highly recommend coming with a group to do this. I'd say it's pretty tough if you come with just one other person. If we didn't have as many people with us as we did- we totally would not have gotten out haha We did end up getting out btw! We had 14 mins to spare. I wish I could remember the guy's name that set us up in the room that worked there- but he was very nice and helpful. He also came to our rescue a few times. Games involve both mind puzzles and physical puzzles, keeping everyone busy and tending to all types of abilities. They definitely keep you on your toes and require you to think outside the box. Very fun couples activity! However it will definitely test your patience with whoever you participate with. You are given one hour to complete the goal (or "escape") but the door is never locked in case you need to take a break for whatever reason. Clean restroom. If you enjoy puzzles, this is the place to be. Rooms were a little overheated but it is June, so what's to be expected really. There are different rooms with different styles and difficulties. Probably best to start with an easier room. Paid $35 per person to rent the room for one hour. Well worth it. read more

I've never been to an escape room. I've only just heard about them. My daughter's friend went to one and my daughter asked if she could have her birthday at one. My wife and I picked this escape room in Ronkonkoma. I can't tell you how good or bad the pricing is because I did no comparison. What I can tell you is that my daughter and all of her friends seem to really like it. The staff was nice, cordial, and informative. Some of them were not very professional, too young to know what professional means. But they were nice nonetheless. The day after the party my wife received a call from one of the children's parents asking about our experience because her daughter liked it so much she wants to do it for her birthday. I guess that's a pretty good testimonial. I think for kids it's probably really good. There were adults walking out and I asked them how they liked it. They did not seem too energetic or crazy about it, but at the same time they did seem to enjoy it. Our team of four signed up for the Time Warp escape room-- simply put, this escape game is amazing. The clues come so fast and furious, you have to be thinking and moving quickly. We did have trouble with two puzzles-- one we should have gotten on our own, and one extremely tricky one. We managed to escape with 10 minutes left on the clock! I attribute this to having a team with unique talents. We each had our skill set and exploited them nicely. 4 people is best, 6 people is almost too many. Highly recommend! read more

I booked the Mysterious Time Warp room for my husbands birthday. We were 4 people and had the best time! It was actually a lot easier with less people in our opinion because we could communicate better with each other without it getting overwhelming. The room was awesome, I can only recommend it. And Zak was the employee who checked us in, explained everything and was there to help if needed during the hour of the escape game. He was super friendly and seemed to really enjoy his job.
