    Escape Game waiting area.

Came with a large group last weekend for my first experience at an "escape game". I've always been a fan of puzzles and riddle solving and was excited to try this place out. Our group did "The Sword in the Stone" and our game master was Jeremy. I won't give away any of the puzzles - but will tell you that some were especially tricky while others you are able to figure out quickly. In this scenario, there are three rooms for you to capture all of the clues. The doors/entrances to additional rooms remain locked until you figure out certain clues. It is definitely an adrenalin rush as you constantly have the clock to think about and it is blinking in red in the first room. If you get stuck or if some clues seem tricky, you can use three clues. Our game master was awesome and really helped to elevate the experience. We did manage to escape with about 14 minutes left on the clock. Our group was 9 people which is almost the capacity (they cap it at 10) and at times it is helpful and at others it can be a bit crowded, and some will be standing around with not much to do. So, if you have a large group, work in smaller teams to make everyone feel included. The price of your escape game is $32/per person. I thought it was a bit expensive, but they do have Groupons so be on the lookout for that. At the end of our game, Jeremy hooked us up with a coupon code for our next adventure. Something fun and different to do for a night out with your best sleuthing friends.

Oh my goodness this place is amazing! It's taken me way too long to write this review, but I was anticipating returning soon, and of course COVID threw a wrench in that one. I guess you can say my group of friends is obsessed with Escape Rooms. On average we do one a month (or at least did one a month). We tried Escape Game Long Island because we wanted to try their room themed after Legends of the Hidden Temple (we're elder millennials, so this show is reminiscent to all of us). I won't spoil anything except to say as soon as we *stepped* foot into the room, we knew we were in for a great experience. This room is probably the most fun I've had in an Escape Room! Others we've also had a great time, but this one thematically took it up another notch. The room was just the right level of difficulty, too. We escaped with about 15 minutes to spare. Given how frequently we do escape rooms, that should be just the right difficult level for a beginner. The staff here was also wonderful! Of course since we showed up in our Legends of the Hidden Temple t-shirts they had even more fun with us. We had planned to return soon but then of course COVID hit not too long after. Hopefully now that businesses have adapted we'll perhaps venture back out. We have other rooms here we'd love to try! Overall, this place is family-friendly, a lot of fun, and the puzzles are well-themed and great experiences. 5 stars!

At the end of every year we have an office dinner and a pre dinner event. Over the years we have gone to plays, spent time at a winery, cruise around Manhattan Island, and even weekend trips. This year we left it up to the employees to pick something. An Escape Room was the choice. My first thought was OY, I'm going to hate this. We arrive and find it's a storefront in a strip mall. Hating this a little more. We go in and find there are a bunch of 11-12 year olds in a room screaming. In side my head I'm screaming "GET ME OUT OF HERE." Now we are up and brought to a room. Brandon is our instructor and goes over the whole premise. We are supposed to be in a time warp and have to escape. He leaves, locks us in and it's on. WOW it was so much fun. Everyone was working together to figure out our escape. It was great to see everyone work together step by step on all the clues. We needed an additional clue from Brandon and he was great, just enough to get us over a hump. We had 60 minutes to figure it all out and we escaped with 13 minutes to spare. So OK. I was wrong. What I thought was going to be a bust turned out to be 47 minutes of a lot of fun, and an opportunity for me to see everyone working as a great team. I can see how this experience will translate back at work. I understand that escape rooms are located all over Long Island, so I recommend that you try it. I know you'll love it. Once again YES I WAS WRONG.

We did an escape room for 2. legends of the hidden temple, and had a great time!! Escaped with two minutes to spear and the help of some game master clues. Staff was friendly, room was just the right amount of clever. I would return to Escape game to do another room!

LOVED IT! This was my first Escape the room experience and it couldn't have been more fun. We were a group of 10 (friends and family) and did the Rescue Santa challenge. We escaped the room with 11 minutes to spare! (We used 2 clues though Shhhhh) The puzzles had the perfect amount of diffulculty. Not too easy where we were bored, and not too hard that we lost interest. They were just right. We had the pleasure of meeting Alex & Matt, our hosts, who were both really awesome and incredibly sweet. Great customer service and pleasant experience. Would definatly go back!

We had a great time! We were a group of 6, all our first time in an escape room! We did the time warp room. We did end up using all our clues but it was fun trying to figure out the clues together! Will definitely come back

This place is great. I picked the Legends of the Hidden Temple room and it was amazing. Tricky without being impossible although my room group of 5 did use all 3 of the free clues. Easy to book reservations online via their website and pay by PayPal. My group got out with about 3 minutes to spare. Highly recommend!

    We escaped!

A lot of the red herrings included inconsistencies in the clues that didn't match up. For example one puzzle piece not lining up with another puzzle piece. Without giving away the room or how to solve the puzzle it is hard to describe it. This room we were not able to complete within the allotted time. The next room we attempted was home alone. This room had a linear set up and provided a balance between distractions and puzzles. I felt like there was a lot of potential in the 3rd room that could have been exploited but wasn't just to make it simple for the solvers. This room was a really good room. Unfortunately, the fine print. You need to know how to properly use a combination lock. This includes the regular ones (3 turns to the right, pass the first number going to the left, and directly to the last number going to the right) as well as directional locks (left, right, up, and down) know how to do these prior to attempting these escape rooms. If you dont know how to do them it could lead to your down fall. When you are doing these look EVERYWHERE. The details are in the fine print. Have different people looking in different places, and scream out what you think is relevant. Good luck.

The employee who checked us in didn't give us the backstory at all, which was strange because I've done plenty of escape rooms and the story is always part of the experience. I only knew a bit of it from reading online beforehand. We were also told one of the mechanisms wasn't working, but the explanation was so vague that we didn't really know what to expect. Once inside, the room was very dim. It would've been nice to be given a flashlight, but we ended up having to use our phone flashlights just to see anything. A lot of the props and clues were worn down or dirty, making the letters and numbers hard to read. There was one puzzle that required unlocking something, but the lock already had a key sitting in it. When we moved the item, the key fell out without us realizing, so the lock stayed "locked," and we wasted a lot of time trying to solve something that should've already been open. To make it worse, the broken mechanism they mentioned ended up being something we kept trying to solve because it wasn't clearly explained beforehand. Overall, there were multiple things we were not properly informed about, and several faulty mechanisms that should've been addressed before we entered. This all affected our ability to escape. And on top of that, whenever we asked for a clue, it took them a long time to respond. It honestly didn't feel like they were paying attention or monitoring the room closely. Escape rooms can be so much fun, but this experience was pretty frustrating and could've been handled much better with clearer communication, working props, and more attentive staff.

We did the Elude the Illusionist room with no expectations and left thoroughly impressed. We booked an 8pm game on a Saturday, so the positive for parking is that it is ample and free. We freaked out a bit because the streets before the intersection were pretty crowded, but when we walked near the room, we realized that we had more options than we thought. Elude the Illusionist is created by Duane, one of the co-owners, who has done so many escape rooms. The room is appropriately challenging and the puzzles were enjoyed by even the most experienced escape room enthusiast in our group. I liked that the puzzles utilized a variety of skills and "lock" types (magnets and locks). The puzzles also matched with the magic theme, which is also more enjoyable. I have two minor critiques of the room. They have two puzzles that are based on lengths of things that are not the most obvious differences. Fortunately, there are other ways to solve those puzzles, but I think it could be a little more clear. Second, a previous reviewer mentioned that the room was not linear, but I think after the first major task, it does get linear. This is not the biggest issue because they allow private games, but that means a smaller group will work better! Honestly, the best thing about this room are the owners, Duane and Brittney. If you are an enthusiast, you NEED to do this room and speak with them! They are incredibly experienced and offered us a lot of other suggestions of rooms to do. We plan to come back and do their new room Robbin Tiffany's, but we hope that they are able to create another room similar to Elude the Illusionist in the future as well.
