I got rhinestone red-y. It turns out you only get a shoulder rub with a deluxe package, but that's fine, I was happy with the chair massage during my pedicure. Mom was upset at the lack of cuticle treatment during her dip manicure. I understand not using oil, since the dip process involves powder, but they didn't even clean up the cuticles with the tiny scissor things (don't know the name, sorry). I had a lovely time here last Friday night getting a mani and pedi. They provided wine while I was getting my toes done! You can also get a little fruit snack. I felt rushed at the start to pick a color as the lady was hovering over me while I looked. I had a broken nail that needed to be fixed and she thought it would be smart to just put acrylic over my nail without a tip. Well obviously now my nails don't look cohesive. So she went back and added a tip. My square shape was to sharp. I had to ask a few time to round the edges underneath. At the end she didn't even put lotion on my hands. But you're a spa? I have been to the other escape nails next to TJ Maxx many times and when I walked in today, they told me there didn't have anyone working who could do a full set. Which I found really odd at 4:30 pm with no customers in there and 8 technicians sitting around. I've also gotten many full sets from that location. They told me to go to this location, so I did. The technician acting like I was inconveniencing her with everything I said. I was not offered a drink, and felt rushed when picking a color. When I asked for almond shape nails, she sighed. When I asked for them to be shorter, she sighed. She finished a full set in 25 minutes. Usually it takes at least an hour. My nails are not almond shaped and they are all different sizes. I came in for a pedicure. I was taken to the massage chair and waited there for 45 minutes with my feet in cold water. The woman next to me, who arrived later, was offered fruit and champagne. I was not. She received service right away. I did not. The technician finally came over, asked if I already had gel on my toes, said a racist epithet in Spanish and walked away. I speak Spanish. She was unaware. 5 minutes later a different technician came over. By this time it had been an hour without service. I can handle the wait. I cannot tolerate the rudeness or the racism. My cuticles are ripped to shreds, the paint wasn't even and the nail shape isn't even the same. I cannot believe that this was "quality" or up to their standards. My mother, two young daughters, cousin and myself came here the day after Thanksgiving to have some pampering together. This was my girls first time having a pedicure. Although, most people here are kind, communication all around is an issue. My mothers foot was burned with the wax treatment and attempting to communicate that was extremely difficult. The girls feet/hands were not put to dry and thus were damaged without an offer to fix (I ended up fixing one of their nails while there). My second issue is their improper labeling of organic products. They label certain products as being organic with only essential oils and no dyes and it's clearly not yet they won't let you look at the ingredients. I feel it would show more honesty to remove this false labeling or be more transparent with customers seeking non-toxic options. I do think their offering of a drink and fruit add to the experience especially for littles but I probably won't be back unless there are improvements in other areas. read more

I didn't post a review at the time but really thought I should share what happened to me at this salon last fall as I still think about it and am disappointed. I was a regular client at this salon after finding them a few years ago and really enjoyed visiting on regular basis w/ my mom for pedicures. My mom and I noticed it prior to our last visit in particular that they would hire people that didn't seem to know what they were doing. In Aug, my mom had a newer person who got red polish all over her feet. She also had the lotion all over her legs after we left. We figured someone just had an off day and wanted to give it another shot so we went back again in Sept. I have a bad right hip and can't reach my toenails to clip or paint them on my right side so pedicures are a good way for me to get them looking better/cleaned up. I wanted to share our experience on Sept 30th 2023. I was over 7 months pregnant. Between being pregnant and my hip problem, my mom thought it would be a relaxing experience for me to get my toes done. Couldn't have been more wrong. We arrived promptly at opening as we typically do and they took us right back. The girl assigned to me looked new which was fine and the woman doing my mom appeared to have been training/watching her. I asked for her to clip my toenails bc I can't reach them and she pulled out these big clippers. I have tiny feet which could have been the problem, not really sure. I don't think she was even remotely looking at my feet when she clipped them because two seconds later she clipped literally the side of my toe and blood was straight running out of my toe. I immediately screamed oww and instead of getting help from the other girl who had stepped away she tried to put my foot in the water bath (gross!!! ) as if to hide it and I screamed NO STOP. I don't need some sort of an infection from that water, I'm not putting it in the water. I was 7 months pregnant and this was definitely not the relaxation I had hoped for that day :( They grabbed a bunch of stuff for me to hold on my toe bc it was bleeding bad. Have been going here for about five years and was always happy with the services if you used specific nail technicians. I do not recommend just going with anyone when you walk in the door. The lady who has always managed the store and maybe she's the owner is not friendly at all, never smiles and is not extremely helpful. The young women who work the front desk, although I know they are trying, are very difficult to work with when you call on the phone to make an appointment with specific people. I've had them mess my appointments up numerous times, and although there are several good technicians there that I would use when they're available, I am no longer going to the salon just because of all of the Front Desk problems and the unfriendliness of management. I came across this place with a neighbor from my apartment complex. It was close to a grocery store that I enjoyed. Though it is a 30-45 min drive... Unfortunately, this is something that I can't provide pictures to, but I did show some of my personal friends....here we go. Now here comes the story: Since I was pleased about my mani-pedi... I heard that they do waxing. I decided to get my eyebrows, and... her did. Mind you,...THIS IS MY FIRST BRAZILIAN WAX... Mind you; I was told to let them know TWO DAYS in advance to prepare for me. I told them two days before, and there were no questions, there were no disclosures on what should be done to be prepared for waxing... nothing. I guess everyone assumed that I had been waxed before. I should have questioned things as soon as no one gave me instructions or disclaimers... but I guess it didn't dawn on me because I had friends telling time things, so I didn't even think about this until it was too late smh. Back to the story: I was thankful that they were so patient with me because I was all over the place, I had to make a drive to go back and get my purse, and all of that hectic stuff (did I mention that I stay 30-45 mins away?). Anyways, they managed to get me in... I will say this: This isn't to be funny or bash them, but... 1. make sure you pay attention to your skin. You may be allergic to certain waxes. I had a slight rash happening around my eyebrows. 2. I don't think that the person that did my wax had dealt with "tight curl" or "4c" type hair much when it came to Brazilian waxing. I wanted to make sure that I asked for the right thing saying, "I want it all gone." AMBIANCE: First off, the room in the back is tiny for waxing; the table is up against the wall so moving your legs for her to get a good angle was a little awkward. My hair is curly, so knowing which way to pull isn't clear sometimes. I also thought it was bizarre that she started working on me WITHOUT GLOVES.... ma'am... I thought that maybe she cleaned between sessions... I don't want to get into what caused alarm in my session. All I have to say is that I should have changed my mind as soon as I went into this small room with a table sitting against the wall and asked about gloves when she started prepping... again... I was dumb. I guess I was just so thankful that she managed to get me in after I ended up being an hour late because I had to run back and get my purse that I was extra flexible (even though I kind of wonder why I couldn't have just venmo'd one of them the charge plus tax for them to do it for me afterward smh... but I digress). By the time it was over, I was left with a lot of hair in important spots smh. I told them about it before leaving... they took only 10 dollars off and was told put vaseline on it so it doesn't stick....WHAT???? I wasn't given any instructions on how to care for it, so of course, I was just like... I'll try to fix the rest myself I don't want to cause any drama... BRO DON'T DO THAT. I could barely touch her and when I tried, the next thing I knew I saw a slight burning on the right inner thigh SMDH. Now I will tell you that I called them the next day after I cooled down, asking questions and letting them know what the experience was like including the discussion I had with the other person that took the $10 off.... but I was not pleased. Instead of providing a free wax or a full refund... I was asked to come in TWO DAYS after this whole debacle so that they can try to clean it up... MA'AM... I have burns on my inner thigh and I already explained that I tried to do some clean up myself and it didn't go well this soon. If I came down for anything, it would be to prove the work wasn't clean so I could be compensated, but I didn't feel confident about letting THE SAME PERSON DO MORE TO HER. Not only that, but they asked if I came in at 4:30 pm the day of the session when I agreed. The moral to the story is don't leave until you are pleased with your work or justly compensated (especially for this type of service). Also, ask for some reviews or samples of their work. YES, some people are proud enough of their work that they take tasteful photos, so you are aware of their skill in that department. I left very unhappy I told the tech several times that I wanted a clear pink natural nail and ended up with a clear white nail. I ask for the dip manicure to not be thick and it was still thick and uneven. When he was using the nail machine to file down my nail it got hot and I let him know and he continued until I spoke up again. At the end I ask for the file to attempt to fix the shape. I have been here on and off for years. Until now I've had positive experiences. Today I deeply regretted coming. I left my baby with a family member and went to get what was supposed to be something nice for myself. This couldn't have been further from what happened. I got a mani pedi with dip for my nails. When I finished the color was all over my hands, the pads of my fingers, on the side, underneath all the way to my knuckle. I mentioned this to Tracy my nail artist and she said if I washed it in water it would all come off. I asked her to remove some cuticles that she'd left but she couldn't understand me. After trying to communicate in a few different ways I paid and tipped and went out. In the light outside of the salon I saw how bad the paint was so I went back in to wash it off. Five solid minutes of scrubbing later nothing was gone. I went back to Tracy and asked her to fix it. She seemed annoyed, sighed, and brushed some polish remover underneath my nail. My hands were still covered in paint. I pointed out where these spots were and asked if she could clean them. She did the same thing that hadn't worked before. I asked if I could see the remover brush and do it myself. She shrugged and got on her phone. After several minutes of removing much, though far from all, of the paint I asked to see the manager. I told her my pedicure was great but I wanted a refund for the manicure. She said this is always how dip is, though this extent of color everywhere has never been my experience. She said Tracy could fix it. Tracy could not and had not. She offered to have another tech fix it. This tech also did not. Finally I left because I had to get home to my child. I don't get manicures very often, but wanted to treat myself. I walked in to Escape Nails in the Short Pump area, near Wegman's on a Tuesday afternoon around 2:30pm. Very few customers in the salon. I was greeted in a lukewarm tone by the receptionist and told her that I did not have an appt. and wanted a gel manicure. She told me to go over to the wall and pick out a color. Within 5min. I went to the front desk to ask a question and she asked me if I had picked out a color. I said no, I just had a question. Then about 5 min. later a nail technician came to me and asked me if I had picked out a color. I felt very rushed. The host was rude. said to wait 20 mnts for mani and pedi and 15 mnts into the wait random people WITHOUT APPOINTMENTS came in and were taken on spot. finally, I asked about it with a puzzled face and they said few mnts NO EXPLANATION... they took 2 more walk ins Before me. finally in( 40 mnts later). I asked for one of the most expensive pedi for $95 ( as a hot stone massage and shoulder massage sounded really good a that time) never got the hot stone massage on legs, the lady doing my pedi spoke no english. ended up canceling my mani out of frustration and I was charged 95 plus $25 extra for gel nail polish used on toes... $120 which was paid cash, asked for receipt and I was refused One ... asked for a manager , I was also refused. host had a lame excuse not to give me managers contact info or his/hers store working hours...
