This place gave me the best nail salon experience I've ever had! I really wasn't feeling too well but this was the perfect pick-me-up because of the salon's luxurious atmosphere, welcoming and friendly staff, and complimentary drinks, fruits/cheese and crackers. It is pretty pricey & I normally wouldn't get such an expensive mani/pedi but I was feeling so crappy that I needed to indulge myself in a treat since I haven't had a spa treatment in 5ever. #noregrets! I loved my spa pedicure treatment ($45). It was 45 minutes of pedicure heaven with leg/feet massage, leg/feet mask with hot towel, scrub, before the actual painting of the toenails. Lora was so amazing & friendly. She took her time, was careful with my knee scars, and just super meticulous!! I'll def ask for her again when I come back :) Also another bonus: their pedicure chairs have working massage rollers for the back hahah it's seriously the little details that make such a big difference. I was a bit disappointed when they didn't have the disposable liners for the pedicure baskets as they advertised but the complimentary drinks (i had the mimosa and 2 hot green teas) and the fruits (watermelon, grapes, & melon) def made up for it :) Even their bathrooms were so nice and fancy! They have the techy toilets that can wash and dry your bottoms haha I was too scared to try but it definitely looked legit. As for my gel manicure ($40), I wasn't able to get the young lady's name but she was also a gem!! I think she mentioned she was the only Cambodian there but she was the best! I appreciated that she was so engaging, making sure I liked the shape she was doing to my nails, & just so meticulous that my nails don't even look like they're mine hahah. At the end of my session while my nails were drying, home girl gave me a back massage and a hand/arm massage. I was crying inside because this was everything I needed in my not so great feeling day. I came out a brand new me. Escape is spa therapy at its finest! Next time, I'll just try their regular manicure for $20 to compare! read more

I asked for one of the most expensive pedi for $95 ( as a hot stone massage and shoulder massage sounded really good a that time) never got the hot stone massage on legs, the lady doing my pedi spoke no english. ended up canceling my mani out of frustration and I was charged 95 plus $25 extra for gel nail polish used on toes... $120 which was paid cash, asked for receipt and I was refused One ... asked for a manager , I was also refused. host had a lame excuse not to give me managers contact info or his/hers store working hours... I enjoyed my pedicure here over the weekend. We paid extra to sit in the VIP room where it was just us. It would be a nice place to have friends all get services done for a birthday or celebration. The environment is beautiful and relaxing. Complimentary wine is served which is nice. We also got the back and neck massage, it really completed the entire experience. It's more than just a pedicure, it's a pampering experience which is what you pay for. The bathroom is cool and the entire place is clean and safe. Yani gave me the best manicure I have ever had in my life, no exaggeration. She is so sweet and pays attention to detail like no one I've ever met. I even copied her nails because they were cute lol. I was having a terrible day and she made me feel so much better and so much more refreshed, I felt terrible because I didn't realize they closed quickly after I came in, but she didn't rush my manicure. So, I know I am in the minority here, but this is definitely not my favorite place in Richmond to get my nails done. Trust me, I have given it multiple tries (three to be exact). It has several things going for it, but at the end of the day, I always seem to leave feeling irritated, which is not what I am looking for after I get my nails done, and certainly not after how much it costs to go here. I'll start with the positives. Like I said, Escape has a lot going for it, and it may be that they are the things you are looking for in your nail salon. Number one is probably going to be the booze. Yup, they serve wine. The first couple times I went, I was a little confused by the whole process. Someone just getting a pedi would receive a glass of wine, and someone just getting a mani would receive a glass of wine, so I was not really sure why someone getting both a mani AND a pedi didn't get two glasses of wine. It would seem to me that you would get a beverage per service. The most recent time, it looked like the menu had been updated to say you would receive higher quality wines with more expensive services, which I assume would also cover purchasing multiple services, but still, the whole process is overall confusing. Another (potential) positive is the overall number of colors to choose from... I say potential because if you are anything like me, and do not arrive with a color in mind, you will have a borderline panic attack while your technician stands there waiting on you to pick, not offering suggestions, and also not laughing while you make jokes at how awkward you feel in the moment. I really do wish I could explain the sheer magnitude of colors to pick from, but it fills the entire entryway and all down the hallway into the salon, which is pretty big in and of itself. So, do yourself a favor and start looking up colors now or at least get a shade in mind, otherwise, you will be looking for a while. Lastly, I will say that I do enjoy the shoulder massage that accompanies each manicure. That isn't something you typically receive at other salons. It was a little awkward the first time, just being out in the middle of everyone getting your shoulders rubbed, but you quickly get over it because COME ON, you know its nice. Now on to the reasons why I can never fall in love with this place. First, I really don't like the pedicure chairs. I really look forward to a little roller back massage while getting a pedicure, but all these chairs do is vibrate a little. You'd think for being such a new salon, they'd be the most high tech pedicure chairs of all time. I mean... just check out their toilet. The pedicure chair in comparison. Secondly, I always end up being disappointed at how long the manicures and pedicures last. I always get gel, and at any other salon, I can expect them to last 2 weeks or more. Here, I am lucky if it lasts a week. After my most recent trip, my nails were chipping in just a matter of days. I have no idea why, but its super frustrating, especially because of my final issue with this place... THE COST. Seriously even when I try to save money and cut costs, I still can't seem to get away from this place for less than $80 pre-tip. The last time I went, I got the cheapest mani and pedi they had, and gel only on my mani, and was upcharged $20 or $25 (can't remember which to be exact, only that it was higher than I expected) for the gel. Its usually $10, maaaybe $15 extra at other salons, and the price for the gel upcharge was not on the menu I was given, so I did feel a little blindsided there. I also was disappointed in the massage given with the pedicure, so I asked about being able to pay for more. I was told $1 more per minute. I went ahead and paid for $5 more (at that time, I didn't know about the gel charge, and really, the best part of a pedicure is the massage so I was practically in tears without a good one). So, all in all, I walked out spending $80 plus tip, for a mani/pedi that only lasted a couple days into my 10 year anniversary trip that started the following day. Needless to say, I wasn't very happy about it. I personally do not think I will be going back. I think third time was not the charm for me. If you love this place, its probably mostly for the lavishness, but I honestly have found much better places in the area that cost less, and last longer. read more

Holly was good she did a great job. What really bothered me was I asked for just the chrome paint on 2 nails. I showed this picture and automatically the only way I could get it was to change from a basic set to gel. That was fine, big price difference and not really what i wanted to do but ok, as we were almost complete the ladies now figured they did not have the correct color so they tried to figure it out (without) out letting me know in English they spoke amongst each other and which angel gave a lower price in which holly gave me a high price ... holly then started to brush the powder on my nails I stated it's cute, not what I asked for, this is more of a unicorn I wanted chrome. Yet I still was charged $80 for something I didn't want and was forced to get based on paint color. DIANA STATED THEY DONT MAKE CHROME POLISH AFTER MY NAILS WERE DONE AND I SPOKE ON IT. Poor service and dirty equipment. I normally get my pedicures here and they are great, tried a manicure today... big mistake! Used equipment with skin and nail pieces left on from previous customers. Wanted sugar scrub, got nails dipped in water, nails cut and filed and clear polish ( which i wanted). No massage, no sugar scrub and no lotion... Front desk person was very w(b)itchy and asked me if I wanted lotion she would give me lotion for my hands... OMG! I am not paying you $30 to massage myself. Manager not very helpful! I've been to Escape nails on and off over the past year and a half, and this is the last time I will go to get a fill. Nails were half painted, shape not correct and the technician didn't even put lotion on my hands after or anything. For the price you pay you would think you are getting spectacular service and product however that is not the case. This place is very hit or miss and it depends on who they give you to do your nails. They shouldn't let technicians who aren't top of the line with acrylic nails do acrylic nails. read more

I went here a while ago with my brother for 2 basic pedicures and a soak off and new set for me and just a manicure for my brother. I called before hand and apparently they don't take appointments for new people. When we walked in I just had to stand there and wait for the ladies at the front desk to finish their conversation which was very rude. Eventually I was greeted. I believe the girl who helped me pick out the color I wanted was Olivia she was really nice. Then I was told to go and sit in a pedicure chair and I told her over the phone and when I walked in that it would be 2 PEDICURES but after she seated me I had to tell her about my brother...again. Maggie did my pedicure and she was really nice and gentle. I'm used to hell being 5-15 dollars extra but I told Maggie I wanted gel and she never mentioned to me that gel was 25 dollars extra. Adriana was the one to do my brothers pedicure and she was nice and gentle as well. My brother just got a manicure and clear polish and I didn't know who did his manicure it the clear wasn't dry at all when they told him he was done and it got all smeared. Dean was the man to do my soak off and new set. He started to flick off my acrylics with a nail tip which hurt like hell and is really unhealthy for your natural nails. So I had to tell him to stop that and to either soak them off or to use a drill but a sock off or the use of a drill was in his worlds "too slow" and "a waste of time" for him. He kept going back from the drill to flick off my nails with a nail tip so I got really frustrated and had to tell him repeatedly that I don't want him to do that. He ended up damaging my natural nail in that process. It's been almost a whole week since I went there and my nail has yet to heal. He finally got up to go get a soak off bowl and tried to tell me to put my injured nail in the bowl and I was hesitant because I knew it would burn and it did and when I mad an "ouch" sound he got really annoyed. I thought I puke get a full set after my finger was injured so I asked for clear square tips. He tried to tell me they didn't have any and then after I insisted he got up and came back with clear coffin tips. I immediately said "I don't want coffin, I want tapered square". He didn't even know what that shape was so I had to show him pictures. I just fell like as a nail tech you should at least know the basic shapes. Anyways he said I'll do one finger with this tip to show you how it is. If you don't like it we can take it off. So he did the one finger and of course I didn't like it. When I told him to take it off he rolled his eyes. So I just told him to finish cleaning up my nails and then I paid and left. I saw so many great reviews for this place so I thought I'd give it a shot. I received a regular pedicure and a shellac manicure. I didn't find the receptionist all that welcoming and the lady giving me a pedicure was not all that sociable either; not that they're required to talk but I didn't feel very comfortable if that makes sense but the actual pedicure came out very nice. As for the manicure I am not satisfied. After only six days of receiving my manicure the shellac has already cracked. I am thinking this happened because at first she had me stick my hand in the regular light under the nail table for them to dry because she was having issues with the UV light. I didn't use that until about halfway through my manicure. I paid a total of $87, ($50 for mani-I know ridiculous for a fill right?, $30 for pedi, $7 for callus removal) which I also think it's a rip off because I only got a fill and I never was offered any type of beverage or fruit if that was supposed to be included I don't know. I was there when they first opened and it took about four hours to leave that place! I will not be returning. read more

The place: When you walk into this place, you automatically feel like your in an oasis. The décor and set up is definitely a step up from the regular places in Richmond. They have lots of color option across the wall and they have make-up for purchase to the left when you walk inside. I did not see a larger sign for customers to view the services/prices etc., so you have to ask for a list to glance over. The front counter has a glass partition behind it, so that you cannot see the customers being serviced. You can see the customers if you stand to the sides of the partition. When you walk back behind the service counter, there are 2 rooms built to the right and this is where they have the pedicure chairs. In the main room is where they do fingernails. The pedicure rooms are dimly lit; the chairs are nice and comfortable; and the do have the automatic massage chairs. Towards the back of the spa, there is a bar that has different wines stacked around and they have wine glasses etc. The atmosphere was calming and not noisy (but I did go on lunch break, so not sure what it's like during prime hours). The services: I opted to get the milk and honey pedicure ($50). The services menu is SOOOOOO overwhelming ( I actually think they should cut some stuff out because it takes forever to look at everything and decide on something, if its your first time). I actually would have gotten something else, but I was annoyed at their menu and just ended up asking the receptionist to pick out one of the most popular pedicures for me. They offer you complimentary fruit or cheese and water or wine. I think that is a nice touch. Because I am on my feet all day, I wanted to make sure I got a pedicure package that included a 15 minute foot massage- and the milk and honey package did! The girl that did my foot massage did an awesome job-I didn't want her to stop! I felt like the paint job was very average and not as neat as some of the places who cost much less. One thing that bothered me was the girl doing my nails, had the front of her hair down and her hair was constantly touching my feet the entire time and it grossed me out and should have grossed her out! lol (she should have pulled her hair all the way back). Otherwise,the staff was nice and welcoming-so kudos on that. Overall: I think that this place is great for a girls day or special occasion. I think the $50 price tag for the pedicure I received was not worth it. I wouldn't come here regularly, because the paint job was not as neat as I would have liked it to be. But I would certainly return with friends/family, especially if they are from out of town. It is one of the nicer places in Richmond and that is what you are ultimately paying for -because their technique does not stand above any of the other shops here IMO. My mother-in-law and I treated ourselves to a mani/ pedi today and we give this spot a 5 star rating! I have been here several times before and it never disappoints. It's definitely worth it to do the VIP room for pedicures if it's available. All of the staff is amazing- today we had Vanessa and Angel, and they were of course amazing! I have been to this location 4 times now. Usually to get my eyebrows done bc the younger girls that work there do the bessssst job. A brief overview, this place is pricey but you get your money's worth. You're greeted with a choice of beverage and a snack or either fresh fruit or cheese and crackers. Beverages include wine so A+ there. Everything also comes with a massage. When you get an manicure you get a back massage as well as a hand/arm massage. Eyebrows include in a temple/face massage (my favorite). With that said, the only reason I am giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because some of their technicians do so poorly compared to others and it really blows when you get the bad ones. For example, I had an Amy last time who spent less than 30 seconds on my back massage and basically skipped the face massage after she did my eyebrows. My eyebrows don't look good by any means and homegirl was the roughest when giving a manicure. I'm not one to complain either but if I'm spending 70$ for an eyebrow wax and a gel manicure give me the perks I came for cha feel me? So all in all, beautiful salon and great service of you get the right technician. Again, 5 month old with me (whom sits very quietly for about 45 mins), I needed quick but efficient. This place is over priced for what you get. It is definitely the best nail salon in my area. My nails always turn out amazing and it's the only place I can get acrylics that actually look good lol. The people are very accommodating and I remember telling a lady that I needed my acrylics like soaked and gently taken off because they were sensitive and she spent her time being very careful and making sure it didn't hurt. I only ever like going there now. That being said, it is very popular and sometimes having a reservation still means you have to wait because the nail techs are all filled up. Lord help you if you ever ask Lora for a third coat of polish! She actually RAISED HER VOICE to me telling me no it'd be too thick. I have NEVER had any issues asking for a third coat from any salon or technician, ever, until today. Bottom line is I was a paying client who's request wasn't unreasonable to warrant that behavior. I am VERY rough on my nails (which is why I choose gel!) And I like it thicker with a third coat so it's even less likely to break/chip and has worked well for me. She could have suggested not to since it would be thicker (people have in the past) and I would have kindly asked for it anyway but to raise her voice like I was a child was beyond unacceptable. It wasn't extremely busy and she sat on her phone for a bit after finishing my manicure and gel set so it had nothing to do with being in a hurry - not that there is any excuse for it. After I walked out the VERY sweet lady (who's name I am very sorry for not catching because she is a keeper!) that was working on my moms set asked what was wrong and if it was the color that I didnt like. My mom explained that it was the manner in which Lora spoke to me that baffled and angered me beyond words and I had to step out. She apologized and offered to put a third coat on when I returned but I was already done with the entire situation and ready to leave. The facility is a very clean facility and until now I have never had any issues with the kindness of its workers (Amber is amazing!) But I will most likely not be returning nor recommending this nail salon any further because I wouldnt want anyone to get Lora and be spoken to in such a manner. read more

Between the nail techs being extremely rude and talking badly about the customers in their language, to the shape of the acrylics looking absolutely disgusting, to the extremely overpriced pricing, this place is a disgrace for nail businesses in general. I had to correct my nail tech at least 10 times to even get close to my expectations. The nails look awful and like pyramids on your fingers. It's disgusting. So after spending $50 for overpriced full of acrylics, I will quickly be getting them redone by a place with actual talent at their profession. This place is definitely one of the nicer nail salons in Richmond. My mom and I decided to check it out since they have been popping up all over the Richmond area. We were immediately greeted by smiling faces and noticed that the environment was very warm, inviting, and very upscale. We went for pedicures and were given a huge variety to choose from (almost 3 pages full of different types of mani/pedis), prices for pedicure range from $30-$100 which was a little more than we were expecting to pay, but we both settled on the Orange and White Tea pedicure. They have areas set up with about 10-12 pedicure chairs and quite a few manicure station set up. They also have a full bar and lots of staff on hand. It seems like a great place to bring a large group. The pedicures each took about 40-50 minutes but they were really well done. The staff was friendly, chatty, and engaged. Overall it was a wonderful experience, however, due to the price I won't be coming here all the time, this will be more of a special occasion trip :) read more

I can go a full two weeks, two and a half if I stretch, with my shellac. And then it needs replacing only because of nail growth. I now see Vanessa. Nothing against Amber, Vanessa's schedule just seems to work better with mine. And Vanessa is absolutely AWESOME. I can't imagine letting anyone else touch my nails now. Her pedicures can't be beat either. AND since she knows I can't have a brow wax due to medication, she hand tweezes my brows as well. SCORE!! I love that this place is a quick drive from my home.
